Indecent Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt, last Thursday launched a one-page ad in tabloid competition satirical weekly, The Onion, and alternative daily Texas, Austin Chronicle, about anyone who could give evidence of “sexual doings” involving Republican presidential candidate who is also governor of Texas, Rick Perry.

“I’ve launched (contest) this kind many years ago,” Flynt said in an interview with Reuters. “We display ads and successfully find sources who offered the evidence.”

Perry’s ad reads, “Do you know a gay or who had sex with Gov. Rick Perry?” Then, “Can you provide documented evidence intercourse or sexual harassment? Larry Flynt and Hustler magazine will pay you U.S. $ 1 million if you choose to open a true story and using the material.”

Perry, who was moncer, getting ahead in the candidate debate yesterday. According to a poll USA Today / Gallup released this week, Perry might receive the support of 31 percent over his nearest challenger, Mitt Romney, who gain 24 percent. A spokesman for Perry could not be contacted about Flynt’s contest. To be sure, in 1999, Chairman of the House of Representatives candidate United States Robert Livingston resigned after Flynt have strong evidence of a sexual scandal with a Louisiana Republican.

Larry Flynt, owner of Hustler’s magazine has confirmed the offer  but even he thought that it was a little weird. He thought that after Anthony was found not guilty for murdering her child, the public wouldn’t want to see her ever with her clothes on or off. So he didn’t make the offer initially.

But then he was approached by a certain number of people inquiring why he hasn’t made the offer while on a book tour in Philadelphia, Austin and Houston.

Eventually he found the idea of getting Anthony posing naked for his magazine isn’t quite so weird after all. With a good hair stylist and make up, Anthony can be made to look good posing for his magazine, Flynt admitted.

Anthony will not only receive half a million dollars for the pose, she would also gain a percentage of the earnings from the pictures that she’d be posing for. She could be earning millions! Flynt claimed.

If Anthony decides to accept this offer, she would be assured herself a place as the most hated woman of all time. She’s not showing remorse for the death of her child but instead is willing to pose in her birthday suit for all the public to see.

And to think that Flynt would make such an offer to the most hated woman in America would also make him and his magazine be the objects of hate by many people. But like Flynt said,” You’ve got men who say, hey, I want to see her in her birthday suit.” And so Flynt is just filling in the demand. It’s after all a business for him.

But for the child who’s dead, who’s going to find justice for her.

            The world of the adult industry is a taboo and foreign realm to many people.  Most shunning it or being ashamed to acknowledge it’s existence, somehow thinking that people will think less of them for involving themselves with porn.  Some may see the existence of pornography as perverse and degrading, a lessening of the rights of women everywhere. 

            Well I have worked in that industry, not as a performer or anything that hands on, but I was part of the ‘group’ and attended functions, parties and conventions.  And yes, there are of course bad elements within that sub-culture, just like there are bad elements within any culture.  And to brand the entire grouping of them because of a few bad apples would be rather harsh and immature.  There are indeed some rather extreme acts that go on within the organization of pornography, but we cannot view the whole society of them based on the actions of a few. 

            Some people within this organization should be looked at with respect, Larry Flynt was so dedicated to his cause of freedom of speech that he went up against the entire legal system, hell he got shot for it.  And he still promotes those rights he has continued to fight for his entire life.

            If you take the sex away from the equation, and merely look at the interaction of the group and the way they perceive life, I think you could actually learn something from those so called perverse monsters.  In essence, most of them are doing exactly what they want to be doing.  When you take a look at all those fetish groups or people who openly display their sexuality, all you are looking at is people who are open about themselves and the way they feel.  Unafraid to be pushed down by the normal standard that so many people live under. 

            Everyone seems to think it’s all about sex, drugs and money.  When in fact for many of these people, it’s just a way of living life that makes them happy.  They’re not trying to flaunt it or go for a “wow” factor, most of them are just free to feel and act like they want too, and they are merely proud to be who they are.  The people within this sub-culture have such a  level of acceptance of other people, they hold no bias towards others, and that’s actually something I wish the world would emulate from them.  The amount of openness these people live with, and their degree of open expression of their beliefs are something we could all learn. 

            I think Michael Grecco said it best in his documentary about the sub-culture of porn.  He said: “Maybe the culture of porn tells us all to appreciate and celebrate who and what we are, however we look, no matter how anyone else feels about it.”

During the 1970s, a magazine called Hustler is born as a sleazy club owner in Cincinnati named Larry Flynt gets the idea to advertise the naked bodies of his dancing girls. Playboy and others had already done this, but what Hustler did was something brand new — showing “pink”. No publisher in history had ever showed pictures of a woman’s vagina so graphically, spread out, so that the insides could be seen. Flynt put these pictures amongst, not necessarily text as much as his own propaganda. It was essentially his job at the Hustler club…but in a magazine. Flynt will be charged over and over again by outraged politicians, convicted several times in cases that would be overturned by appellate courts, because all of this…was free speech. He is gunned down by an unknown assailant in 1978 and paralyzed from waist down. Heavily medicated since getting out of the hospital, he made a spectacle of himself to get the attention of the nation, and then once there, hit them with a parody liquor ad in which his biggest hater — Jerry Falwell — is “describing” losing his virginity in an outhouse to his mother. Falwell would sue Flynt on the grounds of libel and emotional distress — only to lose the libel case because he made the mistake of admitting that nobody could possibly believe it. Yet he won the emotional distress suit. Then Falwell, knowing Flynt’s wife had died of AIDS, spoke on television about how AIDS is the cure for eliminating “sinners”. Larry Flynt has his lawyer appeal this case to the Supreme Court, and he is in fact heard. His lawyer Alan Isaacman argues brilliantly in his defense, and what happens here is the ultimate case for freedom of speech in America. If they would protect Larry Flynt, they would protect any single one of us. Because he’s the worst.

The decision was unanimous — “at the heart of the first amendment is the fundamental importance of the freeflow of ideas. Freedom of speech is not only essential to the lifeblood of democracy, but essential for truth and society as a whole.” Larry Flynt’s ad, while being completely heinous, was nonetheless protected by the first amendment. Larry Flynt won, and Reagen’s attempts to curb the media in the 80s…was given the middle finger. 

1988

May 20, 1988 was a famous day in history. Chicago has a suburb called Winnetka, where a deranged woman named Laurie Dann tied up the kids she was babysitting, tied up the mom and dad becuse they came home early, set the house on fire (the fire department got there in time), and then left and headed down to a local elementary school with a gun. She walked into the school at a time when elementary schools didn’t have metal detectors. She heads directly into a third grade classroom and opens fire. Then she goes to the boys bathroom and opens fire on some little kids standing at the urinals. She maims several, but it is not until the bathroom where she makes her first killing — 8-year old Nicholas Corwin.

Laurie Dann flees and a nationwide search is made for her. Every network sends out their helicopters and Mary Ann Childers. It takes the bulk of the day for them to find her. She finally sneaks back home and locks herself up in her house. At about 11 P.M. that night, with the place surrounded, she shoots herself dead.

Laurie Dann would set the tone for what becomes the only thing in the world that Jerkoffs in this upcoming decade of the 2010s have to stand on — school shootings. The idea that a kid could watch too much Japanese Akira and it would make him slice people up?!

School shootings will be how they keep all hippies in the 2010s from emerging, leading to a continuance of the phenomena where the Western World’s best and most caring people…are the only ones who despise the holiday when Jesus Christ was born.

School shootings are the reason that anything truly cool has been sidemarked for its’ R-rated content. The same jerkoffs who tried to convince married couples that the sexually explicit material of Larry Flynt was bad for the country…realized that they would be crippling Cool People by making parent groups ban the cool graphic novels that were enjoying massive exposure due to kids. Watchmen, Sandman, Maus, and all the Frank Miller stuff.

DC Comics began as Detective Comics, which is one of the great things about the movie Dark Knight — this was how Batman felt and looked and functioned in 1939. There were district attorneys, judges, a defined chain of command when it came to police. DC under the rise of their old friend Marvel in the 60s (oh stay tuned) would have to find a way to not become irrelevant. DC was the grand innovators of the very characters that Marvel got to transcend. There was a point when it appeared that DC would somehow, someway…become toolish!

Enter, in the 80s, Frank Miller and Alan Moore.

Frank Miller and Alan Moore are the reasons why kids were always into comics. They were masters particularly at taking the trials and tribulations of the smart ass-kicker doomed for Northwestern in the accelerated programs, and making them the mythology of Batman. The Joker’s Five-Way Revenge and The Long Halloween, etc.

Is it a coincidence that Laurie Dann occurs with about a fourteen month frame before Batman is all finished being recreated? DC must have realized that they were about to go bankrupt if they didn’t do so!

Everyone rags on Warner Brothers for what they did to the Jack Nicholson Batman. And my point here is that I believe that producer Jon Peters was doing us a favor by at least giving us the Beetlejuice and Pee Wee’s Big Adventure director to make him child-friendly, know what I mean?

Frank Miller also wrote the RoboCop 2 script. I know you thought it was a lousy movie. But rent it again and imagine it at the comic book level. He did a good job.

Frank Miller began his legacy by recreating an old Stan Lee homework assignment — Daredevil.

Alan Moore meanwhile is a funny dude.

Everybody who’s cool at some point from 1986 on has wanted to be like Alan Moore.

Watchmen was even gloomier then I can take. As faithful as they are (eh), the book would have been great to draw and the plot is very interesting if you have to read it over. Alan Moore and Hollywood don’t get along. In addition to the Killing Joke (Batman) and Watchmen, Alan Moore is the creator of Swamp Thing, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and V for Vendetta — three shitty movies, very inspirational books, every one. The fact that they’re inspirational…is his downfall.

There are a few reasons this happens. 

1) People want to show that they’re innovators, but they don’t want to try to use their own stuff. They do it by tainting Alan Moore’s.

2) People who think that all Quentin Tarantino does is steal and borrow…assume that it’s good enough to simply bring up and reference stuff that they like.

3) Alot of it is Alan Moore’s fault, because he draws and writes his stuff to purposely show you things that could only be shown in a comic book. There are certain things, thus, that would be hard as hell to translate into film.

End of Part 16 of 25

In June 2007 Chris Benoit had murdered his wife, Nancy, and their 7-year-old son in a three-day “crime spree” and ended with Chris hanging himself on a weight machine. Larry Flynt being as tasteful as he is released the photos of Nancy in Hustler March 2008, when the murder “hype” was reaching it’s peak.

Nancy’s family has sued Larry Flynt claiming she had requested that Hustler destroy the pictures after they were taken. Flynt has fought the case previously,  but it seems the family with attempt again. Hustler claims they are covered under the 1st amendment, which is freedom of press.

Divine Intervention?

Divine intervention maybe it was! When Amandus Hochmuth testified against Bruno Hauptmann, by replying “HIM” with utter conviction in reply to being asked whom he saw driving away from the Lindbergh residence on the morning of the abduction, the lights in the courtroom went blank. At this point, Hauptmann’s lawyer cried out that the Lord had shown his dissent towards a false testimony. Hauptmann was accused of abducting and killing the son of Charles Lindbergh in 1935.

Courtroom Mayhem

In an almost farcical incident, a Chicago courtroom saw jurors join the common public in cheering and celebrating after acquitting 8 star baseball players. The players, belonging to the Chicago White Sox team were charged with playing a purposeful role in the 1919 World Series defeat. However, the trial only lasted a few hours after the main witness decided to vanish! When declared not guilty, the courtroom erupted with sounds of cheer and clap and the jurors joined in soon.

Reading Your Way to Escape

When under trial Ted Bundy was given access to the Pitkin County Courthouse library, he seized the opportunity to find his way out of prison. He cleverly climbed out of an open window and rather calmly walked around the neighbourhood. It took the police six days to get him back. At the time of arrest, he was behind the wheels of a stolen vehicle. Once booked, he was again put on trial for killing Caryn Campbell.

Inappropriately Dressed

If there were an award for being staggeringly brash, it would surely go to Larry Flynt. The man was accused several times under laws of pornography and every time he seemed to make a “bold” statement in court with his choice of clothes. With logos and graffiti that were out rightly offensive to the court, Flynt came to be known more for his sarcastic ways than his misdeeds. He once famously wore a T-Shirt that read “Fuck This Court” and wrapped the American flag around his abdomen as a diaper.

Button Up, Mr. Jackson

Being bizarre has probably being Michael Jackson’s lifelong hobby. He has displayed enough bizarreness in his choice of clothes over the years with bright colored leather ensembles, zipped up bodysuits and so on. But all that was probably overshadowed when he actually showed up in a courtroom in PJs! The choice of color was none to soothe raising eyebrows or temperatures either, with Jackson teaming up a blue PJ with a crushed and dirty looking white shirt, together with a black blazer! A little over the top for a child molestation trial, ain’t it?
