Various kinds of learning styles will be very useful for parents to determine an appropriate way of learning.

3 kinds of learning styles

Visual Learning Styles (Visual Learners)
Emphasis on visual acuity. That is, concrete evidence must be disclosed in order for them to understand this learning style rely on vision or see the evidence first and then trust him.
The characteristics of visual learning styles are:
1. Tend to see the attitude, movement, and the lips of teachers who are teaching
2. Not a good listener when communicating
3. When received instructions to do something, it usually will see more friends and then he himself is acting
4. Do not like to talk in front of the group and do not like listening to someone else looks too passive in the discussion.
5. Less able to recall information given orally
6. More like a demonstration than a verbal explanation
7. Can sit down and grab the middle of the crowded situation without being distracted

Auditory learning styles (Auditory Learners)
Relying on a hearing to understand and remember. Characteristics of a learning model like this really put a hearing as the primary means of absorbing the information or knowledge. That is, we need to hear, then we can remember and understand the information.
The characteristics of auditory learning styles are:
1. Well able to remember the teacher’s explanations in class, or materials discussed in the group / class
2. Excellent listener: children easily master the creative / music on television / radio
3. Tend to talk much
4. Do not like to read and generally is not a good reader because it is less able to remember well what had just read
5. Less proficient in writing tasks / write
6. Happy to discuss and communicate with others
7. Less attention interested in new things in the environment around it,

KINESTHETIC (KINESTHETIC Learners)
Require the individual to touch something that gives certain information so that he can remember. Of course there are some characteristics of this learning model that not everyone can do it. The first character is placing the hand as a means of receiving information in order to keep the main memory. Just by holding it, someone who has this style can absorb the information without having to read the explanation.
The characteristics of KINESTHETIC learning styles are:
1. Touches everything he encountered, including the time to learn
2. Difficult silent or sit back, always wanted to move
3. Doing everything possible active hands. Example: when the teacher explains the lesson, she listened, her hands busy drawing
4. Likes to use real objects as a learning tool
5. Difficult to master abstract things such as maps, symbol and emblem
6. Like the practice / trial
7. Love the game and physical activity

Thus a variety of learning styles can hopefully be our reference materials to determine how learning is good and fitting for us to be able to absorb the lessons well. Well now where your learning style or your child?

Many students have difficulties doing their homework. Some students think that the assignment are only busywork. Others have trouble doing all the reading, let alone extra assignments.

No matter the reason, homework is usually helpful to the student.

Image via Wikipedia

Homework accomplishes two things. First, it helps the student to practice using the material learned in class. Students write papers about the reading or practice math problems or discuss poetry, so they have a change to use what they have learned.

Image via Wikipedia

Second, homework helps students what the teacher is looking for in class assignments.

For a number of students, homework is difficult because of the student’s preferred learning style. According to education experts, all students learn in a variety of ways. However, each person has one specific way that is the easiest for him or her.

The goal for students is to find their preferred learning style and gear all their study efforts toward that style.

We may know our learning style and how intelligence we are, but how do we use our intelligence to solve problems? Successful intelligence theory asserts that a person's overall intelligence comprises three distinct elements-analytical, creative and practical thinking skills.

The theory of Successful intelligence is introduced by Robert Sternberg. He refutes the idea of nay one definition of intelligence. Instead, he suggested that successful intelligence determines one’s ability to cope in one’s career in life and in school. Successfully intelligence people capitalize on their strengths and recognize and compensate for their weakness; self motivating and flexible in their work style, they create their own opportunities, actively seek out role models, recognize and accurately define problems, and know when to persevere.

Image via Wikipedia

Successful intelligence is the kind of intelligence we need to succeed both in school and in the real world. It is the translation of underlying skills and abilities into routines that lead to highly competent everyday performances on the job, in personal relationships, and in the classroom.

In deciding among the many available Sat preparation can be overwhelming for a decision. How do you know that you learn the right things? How what you learn really necessary? How much will it improve your score? Of course, no shortage of books of SAT programs for home study, videos and guides – Sat preparation but worth the money? Here’s what to look for to ensure you get the best possible preparation before Sat

Understanding how people learn best

Did you know that everyone has their own learning style and preferences? For example, some people learn better by watching an instructor in the video, others learn better in class and retain more information when you participate in a conference call. No learning style is better than the other – and a decor that is unique to you. Fortunately, sat preparing today has evolved to accommodate different learning styles to help each student to achieve a higher score. Ideally, SAT preparation courses you choose will have these different learning styles in mind what you need customized training for you.

Beyond the SAT

Sat preparation should not be the only one we prepare. Taking the SAT is only the first step in their school trip. For the best chance to get into the college of your choice, it is also important to be aware of the application process and make the program stand out. Look for Sat preparation that offers extra benefits such as organizing the college application assistance. When you apply for several schools, you must stay in the process – and SAT courses that include this option, it will be much easier!

It will be drilled from the same material obsolete

A major problem with many being prepared Sat, books and guides is that without puncturing the material you already know or concepts that are already strong in the adaptation of intelligent search technology course covers Sat themes that prevents, while helping to strengthen and improve in areas where extra help is needed. Ideally you will be able to access courses to prepare for the SAT online for you to learn at their own pace and where you have a computer with an Internet connection. Be able to access online training Sat also means that you can take advantage of the dynamic statement with the participation of some of the best professors and instructors available.

Above all, seek a strong and reliable money-back guarantee for any preparation that you buy Sat If you do not improve your score after taking one of these preparatory courses should be able to get their money back – guaranteed. It is a simple but proven method that shows confidence in the classes with the promise to help you succeed and achieve their academic goals you set for yourself.

Research on student learning has revealed significant differences in how to process information and retain people, with implications for classroom teaching, student achievement and how parents can support the learning process. The Dunn and Dunn Learning Style Model identifies two important psychological conditions for the acquisition and use of new, comprehensive and analytical.

A.
Learning Styles Assessment
*Research on how people learn shows that each student has a unique profile of skills and strengths, and identify and support these forces leads to better results. The Dunn and Dunn learning styles model, developed in 1960 by Professors Kenneth and Rita Dunn, identified five areas of learning success: environmental, emotional, sociological, psychological and physiological. An important difference in the psychological Dunn and Dunn learning styles and global analysis, to define how the brain processes information based on right or left hemisphere dominance.
The overall style
*The overall style of learning is the global information. Related to the dominance of the right brain, begins to teach the world to understand the concepts first, with mastery of details to follow. Overall, students tend to be boring, remember facts and prefer to refer to personal experience of learning, stories and anecdotes. These students may work better in groups than alone, and prefer to work with multiple tasks simultaneously. Music or background noise helps others, rather than distract, these students, and is easier to learn when the information relates to the real world.
The analytical style
*Students take the analytical data sequentially, and prefer to learn a variety of events that leads to understanding a larger concept. Based on the dominance of left brain, learn from the analysis requires an orderly and calm. Student-analysis tends to work with a task to completion, and prefer to work alone for a long time without interruption. These students develop in a traditional classroom.
In the classroom
*Understand the key differences in learning styles to better support learning. Many diagnostic tests allow individuals to decide their own learning styles and help parents and teachers to find ways to encourage learning. Teachers can develop lesson plans that adapt to styles, such as the incorporation of narrative and group lesson plans to accommodate students worldwide. At home, parents can best meet their children’s learning, providing a bright, quiet student for analysis or playback of music in the background for a student world.

A look at how the different types of learner can play different roles within a group activity and the ways in which they make a contribution to the overall task.

As ever in education, teachers and schools are always looking at ways in which they can improve teaching pedagogy and adapt styles to different learners. VAK has long been used, taking into account the different learning styles of visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learners. By understanding the ways in which young people learn, it can help teachers to adapt their teaching to ensure that the learning of students is maximised.

However, much more attention and focus has been paid in recent years, as to the ways that young people can improve their learning through group work activities, rather than completing individual tasks. Group work can often accommodate all the different styles of learning, so is therefore beneficial to all types of learner.

It is recognised that individuals play different roles within group work activities and that they can contribute to tasks in different ways. This can be influenced by both their personalities and by the type of learner that they are. Typical roles that people take in group work tasks are as follows:

Creative Thinkers

This person will typically generate ideas, ask questions, explore lots of possibilities, try out alternatives and adapt and react to changes in circumstances as necessary.

Independent Enquirers

This person will usually be able to identify problems to solve and answers to questions, explore ideas from different perspectives and consider the consequences, use reasoned arguments and evidence to support points of view and analyse and evaluate information.

Effective Participants

This learner will be bale to present their ideas to the group for discussion, keep a balanced view, negotiate with others and find a way to move forward whilst identifying potential improvements and be able to persuade others to participate.

Team Workers

This learner will collaborate with others and give useful feedback, reach agreement with others and work towards a common goal, adapt behaviour to suit different roles and circumstances and be considerate to others and be able to take responsibility within a group.

Reflective Learners

This person will identify opportunities and recognise achievements, they will be able to reflect on their mistakes and then move forward to new goals,. They will also be able to evaluate their progress and experience, invite feedback and react appropriately to the outcomes of their review.

Self Managers

These learners can respond positively to change, set their own goals, time manage the tasks that they have to complete and organise their resources, deal effectively with pressure, use their initiative and anticipate risks and manage them accordingly.

A look at visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learning styles.

As an educator, it is important to be aware of your students learning styles. One of the most common approaches to learning styles in teaching at eh moment is the VAK approach to learning. This divides types of learners into three categories; visual, auditory and kinaesthetic. Whilst most students can be divided into one of the categories, it is important to bear in mind that many students benefit from a combination of two styles of learning and on some occasions all three.

If you are working with an individual, then it is wise to be aware of their style of learning and tailor their education towards that approach. If you are working with a whole class, then it is likely that you will have a mix of students who have varied learning styles. Therefore, it is recommended that when planning your lessons, you ensure that all three approaches are covered at some point so that the methods that you use enable the learners to reach their full potential.

Here is an overview of the different learning styles and different methods that you can use in your teaching to enable each style of learner to fully access your lessons and to enhance their learning experiences.

Visual Learners

These learners respond well to learning through the things that they see. They will benefit through work being presented on the board or on handouts. For those with literacy difficulties, images are another way of presenting information in a visual way to the learner. When using ICT, try using vide clips and animations to support their learning and to make their learning a more interesting experience. Most lessons can be adapted to suit the visual learner.

Auditory Learner

This type of learner responds well to information being present3ed in an auditory way. This means that they learn from what they hear. In most lessons, the teacher will be speaking and giving the students information. This is ideal for auditory learner. They will also benefit from group work with peers and information being presented using ICT devices, such as DVD’s on the whiteboard.

Kinaesthetic Learner

Basically, this type of learner learns from doing. A practical approach is best to enhance the learning experience of these types of learner. For example, in Science, they will learn more from conducting an experiment than from written work. They will benefit from role plays, craft activities, group work and design. With a bit of thoughtful preparation it I easy to incorporate this style of learning into most activities.

A look at the different learning styles that children have and how these can influence teaching in the classroom.

Children are individuals and this is often reflected in their learning style. Understanding a child’s learning style is important in ensuring that the most effective methods of teaching are used and that the child can therefore reach their full potential. Generally, learning styles can be divided into typical categories that reflect the ways in which a child may find it easier to learn. Here are some learning styles that children have and some ideas on how to approach teaching a child that is preferential to a particular style of learning.

Many children prefer a kinaesthetic style of learning. This means that they learn by doing. A child that favours this style of learning may be a more practical or creative learner. They will prefer to learn through activities that involve movement and making, rather than sitting and listening, writing or reading texts. If you are trying to teach a child with this learning style, or you are a parent to a child with this learning style, then activities such as crafts, drama, role play and design work are all good ways to ensure that the child is absorbing the information that they are being taught. These activities can be incorporated into most subject areas. In science, they will probably learn more from a practical experiment than from a textbook, English is ideal for the use of drama and role play, whilst Maths can incorporate matching games and the use of concrete apparatus to assist learning.

A visual learner will learn best from the information that is gained through the sense of sight. This does not necessarily mean that they will only learn through the written words. Pictorial resources, ICT and media resources can all be cleverly incorporated into a lesson to ensure that a child with this learning style can achieve the best results.

An auditory style of learning means that a child will learn best from what they are told and what they hear. This does not only include a teacher standing at the front of a classroom and talking, nor a parent sitting and reading out information. It may include the use of media resources or group work where they communicate with their peers can also benefit this type of learner.

Many children have a mixed style if learning. Also teachers will find that their class will have a combination of different types of learners. Therefore, the best lessons are those that take into account the different learning styles of all the children. This may mean that the teacher has the lesson objective and a few bullet points written on the board or on handouts for the students. It will also involve the teacher explaining the key points of the lesson to a class. The students may then move onto a practical groupwork activity. This would take into account all the preferred learning styles of a mixed class of children and achieve the best results on the whole.

Why a knowledge of your own preferred learning style can help with personal development.

A knowledge of your own preferred learning style can be helpful in many ways. For example if you know you don’t learn well with a particular style, you can tell someone how you would prefer to learn and most of the the time they can help you with the task in hand in your own learning style, or give you some pointers on how to use your own learning style during things such as note taking or listening to a lecture so that you can still get the most out of what they are trying to teach you.

There are many different tools you can use to find out your preferred learning style. Most people use the VARK questionnaire which is composed into 4 different learning styles – Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing and Kinesthetic learners. These basic 4 categories are claimed to be able to help anyone with their own personal learning style and personal development.
