The ages 60 and up would be the most ideal staging or observation posts for looking at life as man emerges from birth to death. It is the period when one gets a solid view of how his life has unfolded and has been unfolding before it ends.

At 60, it is almost natural for one to ask: How meaningful has life been? Hopefully, he may still influence his remaining years and make them truly more meaningful. But another way he can find meaning is to influence the lives of the younger people who are themselves journeying to find meaning for their own. By exercising this influence, he can recreate his own life’s meaning as he provides the sounding board for all the obstacles and hurdles and perils strewn along the way. It is, thus in a manner of speaking, clearing the way for the young.

One of the luxuries of this exchange between the “been there” and those “on the road” is the privilege of identifying life’s meaning at the outset instead of at the end. Although life is different from person to person, it is also atypical, which means it has a pattern that is common to all.

For instance, it begins at birth and ends at death. This sequence typifies the scope of life. But while this birthing and dying are atypical, what is in between is what makes everybody a unique individual. St. Augustine describes this as God’s gift of life. One is given the choice of the meaning he wants to put into it.

Life is also, upon birth, evolutionary: proceeding, as in growing and learning; achieving fullness, as in fullness in physiology and productivity, and receding, as in going back to where it came from. This complete cycle of procession, fullness and recession is the same for all, save for the details that characterize each individual.

The exercise of choosing what to put into life is truly a privilege accorded the growing newborn. It can be said that everybody would want a truly meaningful and enjoyable life, and by virtue of the experiences shared by the “been there,” this dream life has a greater chance of being fulfilled if only the life traveler on the road would listen to the life lessons from those ahead.

Some of these life lessons can be startling but exceedingly persuasive:

1. Only 3 out of 20 life travelers (give or take a few percentage points for national differences) have enough money at retirement time to enable them to live with dignity. The rest are on utter dependency on others.

2. College education is a necessary instrument for making life truly productive at the middle range, but only a handful finish college due to financial incapacity.

3. Part of man’s fullness is raising a family, simultaneous with his achieving full productivity at work. Such a dependence of family upon his personal output puts the family at risk of economic dislocation by the breadwinner’s sudden death. Not too many have provided for this eventuality.

4. Man has invented business as an instrument of productivity and life sustenance, but he does not put up enough safeguards to make his business continuous and continuously life-sustaining. When he goes, his business goes.

These lessons are actually products of precedents:

5. Man’s psychology favors instant gratification and ignores future enjoyment, consequently making preparations for the future extremely difficult.

6. He has a mistaken view of his physiology. He feels his physical strength will last forever while he is young, until he feels some concentrated pains across his chest.

7. He refuses to deal with his mortality and vulnerability until it is too late.

Because of these, he ends up working to death literally, even if he is already too old to work and now conscious of the lessons. If he stops working, he has no money to afford him the decency of a dignified existence in old age and finds himself living a life of dependency. Yet, it is at this time that he needs, and terribly wants, dignity to adorn his receding years.

The lessons provided are of course more atypical of the 17 rather than the 3 out of the 20. The generic causes are procrastination, lack of awareness, lack of discipline and lack of planning. Suffice it to say that the generic solutions are awareness, recognition, action and discipline towards honest-to-goodness financial planning.

Reaching the golden years, one can only look back at, but may not change, the past. The past can however be offered as warning posts for travelers against potential potholes. Consequently, the young journeymen need wait for life post 60 to ask “how meaningful has life been?” for he can create the meaning that he wants right where he is.

A reflection on Valentine's Day.

Why did I write and post a poem about oleander http://authspot.com/poetry/oleander/ on Valentine’s Day? I thought about that on my day job all day yesterday. Is it because I find Valentine’s Day to be insipid and shallow? I do to a degree I admit. And yet it is very good to have a day to remind us of what we should do every day, that is to show our appreciation and care for those who share our lives. Especially our spouses.

So while I think all the flowers, hearts, and candy can be a nuisance at best the fact remains that for a great number of people Valentine’s Day is the only time they think to show the one they are supposed to care the most about that they are still special…

You will also predict the future and understand how to correct your mistakes before making them (again) and ruining your own life. This way, you’ll have the chance to change your destiny and avoid bad consequences.

I will show you how the unconscious mind that produces your dreams helps you solve your problems without making mistakes. You will understand the real importance of dreams and discover safe guidance.

Most people have a relationship problem. Even when they are mentally ill and they have other psychological problems, they also have a relationship problem.

My example is about love, because love is the most important matter of your life. Love is so important that it is a big danger for your mental stability. This is why the unconscious mind is very generous with you. You have trustful information about the person you love, or clear guidance about how to find your perfect match if you have no relationship. This is a dangerous problem too.

The unconscious guidance helps you calm down and understand the truth.

You will perceive that you can trust the unconscious mind because the unconscious messages have a protective character. Thus, you’ll feel supported and relieved for having precious guidance in your own dreams.

You’ll learn everything you need to know about the special person. You will also predict the future and understand how to correct your mistakes before making them (again) and ruining your own life. This way, you’ll have the chance to change your destiny and avoid bad consequences.

The unconscious mind shows you how the future will be unfolded if you’ll follow the wise guidance you have in your dreams, and also how the future will be for you if you’ll disobey the unconscious guidance.

First of all the unconscious mind shows you your good destiny (if you’ll be obedient). Then, it shows you your bad destiny (if you’ll be disobedient). This order is not always respected in all dreams. You may have first of all negative dream scenes in a dream, showing you your bad destiny in the beginning, and your positive destiny only in the end. Dreams comparing different future results are very common.

You have to be obedient in order to be cured and in order to achieve your goals. If you keep making the same mistakes, you cannot be cured.

For example, if the unconscious mind will show you in a dream that the real reason why your husband told you that he needs some time to think and remain alone is the fact that he is cheating on you, you must be very careful and respect the unconscious guidance.

The unconscious mind will tell you to stay alone and never bother your husband again. It will tell you also not to answer his phone calls or email messages.

Your husband must feel that he completely lost you in order to miss you, and understand how much he really loves you. He must also understand that if he loves you and he wants to live with you, he must respect your relationship.

If you’ll be immature and disobedient, you will face the tragic consequences of your mistakes. You have to obey the guidance of your wise doctor instead of doing silly things that will cause more problems.

If you are an obedient student and patient, your progress will be visible after a few days of dream therapy. The unconscious mind changes your life into practice, besides helping you transform your personality.

Your husband will regret having betrayed you and desperately desire to be with you.

If you’ll be silly and easily accept meeting him before he will really regret having betrayed you, he will never be loyal and respect your relationship. Of course you miss your husband, but this doesn’t mean that you should believe in his lies. You have to bear your separation during a certain period of time and precisely follow the unconscious guidance if you want to see the positive results you desire.

If you want to solve all the problems of your life in a short period of time, you must be obedient and patient. Each dream will help you calm down and understand what to do. When you are impatient you pay for your impatience with more suffering, and you delay even more in order to finally solve your problems.

You’ll save time and pain if you’ll be patient, and if you’ll do only what will surely help you solve your problems, instead of making costly mistakes. The unconscious plan may take some time if you have a difficult problem, but this plan is perfect.

If you’ll obey the guidance you have, you will surely triumph in the end. This is guaranteed because the unconscious mind is God’s mind. The unconscious mind doesn’t make tests (like ignorant human beings). You have clear guidance about how to achieve your goals. You only have to obey the directions you have in order to see the results you desire.

Christina Sponias continued Carl Jung’s research into the human psyche, discovering the cure for all mental illnesses, and simplifying the scientific method of dream interpretation that teaches you how to accurately translate the meaning of your dreams, so that you can find health, wisdom and happiness.

This is a simple essay on the love from others being our motivation to live.

Somewhere out there in this complicated world is someone or someones who think you are a great joy. Interacting with you brings them happiness and fills there hearts with joy. Just being in close proximity to you brings them happiness.

In my life there have been several people like the one I described above. Her beautiful brown eyes and her shinny bright smile would fill my heart with joy. We did not have to talk. I just enjoyed being in her presence.

I am writing this article to answer the question of those in psychological distress of “why should I bother”. I know that when we are experiencing distress we tend to be isolated and only think of ourselves.

However, stop and think of the people who love you. There are many. If you weren’t around, they would be very sad.

Lets look at everything that is required to keep a person a live. On average and adult needs 1800 to 2200 calories a day to be healthy. The food groups should be vitamins, proteins, good fats, and minerals. Its not hard to find which foods are for vitamins and so forth.

A person needs eight hours of restful sleep. This results in a rested heart and rested mind.

There should be average of eight glasses of water 8 ounces each. This cleans out the kidneys and keeps the body lubricated.

Peace, joy, and love is a better life experience. I have written before that Positivism, Optimism, Realism, being grateful, friends, family, spouse, romance, intimacy, are the way to a enjoyable and pleasurable life.

Now, I have no allusion or delusion that by me just typing in my life philosophy people will understand and practice what I believe. It takes years of practice to replace bad attitude with a good and positive attitude.

However, think of it this way. When you realize that there are good rewards from life, you see life in a different manner.

You will sleep, eat, and enjoy people’s company. Therefore, you will practice a healthy lifestyle and life will more bearable if not a right down joy.

In know we would like to think we are an island amongst our self. Life cannot be a fuller experience without people.

Okay, so the modern world has made us isolated. Most of this isolation has to do with the modern ideology of people are troublesome and we must stay away from people.

Yes some people are experiencing challengers they cannot overcome. In addition, it is smart to avoid people who are going to cause us problems. However, not all people are trouble.

Let me say that the idea for this paper started permeating my brain is the last three days. During this time I was exposed to the movie Pay it Forward. I had heard of this movie. However, I suspected it would be a foolish movie, not dignant of my superior intelligence.

I was right. Let me tell you the storyline. A 11 year old son of an alcoholic mother, who has been involved with an abusive man, goes out to make a difference in a homeless man’s life after his teacher gives the student a class assignment to go out and make a difference in their world. The movie ends with the now 12 year old boy dying after being stabbed by a classmate. May I say foolish-Hollywood-dribble.

Okay, some of you who watched the movie may say I am being to harsh. I was rather critical of the movie Pursuit of Happiness. See, media can entertain, educate, or inform. The social lessons preached by this movie are not lessons that will make a positive contribution to society.

We are all aware of the plight of the homeless and those who abuse alcohol and drugs. Therefore, the movie has no educative or informative value.

It did not entertain me. I like happy endings. Could it be that there are no happy ending in life because none exist in media?

Well that is to detrimental and defeatist. There are happy endings in real life. Media producer believe they will get a better income generation is they skirt the edges of depravity.

Another media source I had exposure to while developing this article National Geographic Channels’ “Drugs, Inc”. In this program I saw people who are homeless and killing them selves every day with their addiction.

I have simple notes to offer on this drug program. Never listen to a criminal about his motives for crime. I find the automatic label of “a poor person just trying to survive” troublesome. I like the label of “manipulative person who finds easy profit in crime” a better label.

Okay, now how do these media products fit in to this article? There are many ways that we can destroy ourselves. Many of us spend a lot of energy pursuing these practices.

In addition, for a long time I have known that life is a rather torturous experience for many. I do believe there are “forces unseen” that are trying to destroy us.

However, no one controls our thoughts. We can see things in the negative. We also have the opportunity of being realistic and optimistic. Again, I say thoughts influence emotions and emotions influence behavior. We are bummed out because we have bummed ideas.

If we want to have joy and happiness, we need to have joyful and happy ideas. We cannot spend our day in negativity and expect to feel good.

Therefore, this is a simple essay on everyday health. Every day we eat, sleep, and relax. Everyday, we spend time with happy people. Every day we practice positivism and realism and being grateful. Therefore, when we are burned out and wonder why keep going, we should say to ourselves that we bother for the child who loves us and every one else who loves us.

A tragic end to a poor soul.

Stress with problem from work was believed to be the reason for a man to jump into an abandon mine behind Serendah Mosque here in Serendah, before his body was found all puffed-up and floating yesterday.

The body of Sen Mong Choy, a Chinese man from Taman Sri Bintang, Kepong was found by a regular visitor who came to fish there. The district chief police said they have found the victim brown shoe around 50 meters from where the body was found while checking the perimeter. According to him again, they found shocks and car key in it before police managed to locate the victim’s car in a hilly location 500 meters from where the incident took place.

Now honestly I hate knowing some individuals still consider committing suicide as a way to escape from their trouble. Well it’s not. It will only bring more problem and plus shame to the deceased’s family. Life was never meant to be simple but there are better ways to solve problems other than taking your own life. Some might say it is easier to say than done; yes, I agree with that but one will never know unless they try. Having a few relatives who committed suicide, I too know how it feels when we lose loved one in such manner. There will always be the-what-if thought. What if he is still alive, how many children will he have? What will he be doing right now? And so many other questions that will never be answer. Life is such a joyous event so don’t take it for granted.

Whats Islam has to say on this so called day of love.

What does Islam say?

Deceptive commercials and cultural propaganda present an ugly practice of paganism (mushrik) as if it were some beautiful festival of love – and all the time the devil is laughing at believers who listen to his whispers.

A group of practices considered as the twin sister of bid’ah(misguided innovations). Like bid’ah these flourish on . . .

. . ignorance and outside influence. Like bid’ah they entail rituals. But unlike bid’ah the rituals have not been given an Islamic face. They are followed because they are considered an acceptable cultural practice or the hottest imported “in” thing.

Most of those who indulge in them do not know what they are doing. They are just blind followers of their equally blind cultural leaders. Little do they realize that what they consider as innocent fun may in fact be rooted in paganism. That the symbols they embrace may be symbols of unbelief. That the ideas they borrow may be products of superstition. That all of these may be a negation of what Islam stands for.

Consider Valentine’s Day, a day that after dying out a well deserved death in most of Europe (but surviving in Britain and United States of America) has suddenly started to emerge across a good swath of Muslim countries. Who was Valentine? Why is this day observed? Legends abound, as they do in all such cases, but this much is clear: Valentine’s Day began as a pagan ritual started by Romans in the 4th century BCE to honour the god Lupercus. T

he main attraction of this ritual was a lottery held to distribute young women to young men for “entertainment and pleasure” – until the next year’s lottery. Among other equally despicable practices associated with this day was the lashing of young women by two young men, clad only in a bit of goatskin and wielding goatskin thongs, who had been smeared with blood of sacrificial goats and dogs. A lash of the “sacred” thongs by these “holy men” was believed to make them better able to bear children.

As usual, Christianity tried, without success, to stop the evil celebration of Lupercalia. It first replaced the lottery of the names of women with a lottery of the names of the saints. The idea was that during the following year the young men would emulate the life of the saint whose name they had drawn. (The idea that you can preserve the appearance of a popular evil and yet somehow turn it to serve the purpose of virtue, has survived.

Look at all those people who are still trying, helplessly, to use the formats of popular television entertainments to promote good. They might learn something from this bit of history. It failed miserably) Christianity ended up doing in Rome, and elsewhere, as the Romans did.

The only success it had was in changing the name from Lupercalia to St. Valentine’s Day. It was done in CE 496 by Pope Gelasius, in honour of some Saint Valentine.

There are as many as 50 different Valentines in Christian legends. Two of them are more famous, although their lives and characters are also shrouded in mystery. According to one legend, and the one more in line with the true nature of this celebration, St. Valentine was a “lovers’” saint, who had himself fallen in love with his jailer’s daughter.

Due to serious troubles that accompanied such lottery, French government banned the practice in 1776. In Italy, Austria, Hungry, and Germany also the ritual vanished over the years. Earlier, it had been banned in England during the 17th century when the Puritans were strong. However in 1660 Charles II revived it. From there it also reached the New World, where enterprising Yankees spotted a good means of making money. Esther A. Howland, who produced one of the first commercial American Valentine’s Day cards called – what else – valentines, in the 1840s, sold $5,000 worth – when $5,000 was a lot of money – the first year. The valentine industry has been booming ever since.

It is the same story with Halloween, which has otherwise normal human beings dressing like ghosts and goblins in a reenactment of an ancient pagan ritual of demon worship. Five star hotels in Muslim countries arrange Halloween parties so the rich can celebrate the superstitions of a distant period of ignorance that at one time even included the shameful practice of human sacrifice. The pagan name for that event was Samhain (pronounced sow-en). Just as in the case of Valentine’s Day, Christianity changed its name, but not the pagan moorings.

Christmas is another story. Today Muslim shopkeepers sell and shoppers buy Christmas symbols in Islamabad or Dubai or Cairo. To engage in a known religious celebration of another religion is bad enough. What is worse is the fact that here is another pagan celebration (Saturnalia) that has been changed in name – and in little else – by Christianity.

Even the celebration considered most innocent might have pagan foundations. According to one account, in pagan cultures, people feared evil spirits – especially on their birthdays. It was a common belief that evil spirits were more dangerous to a person when he or she experienced a change in their daily life, such as turning a year older. So family and friends surrounded the person with laughter and joy on their birthdays in order to protect them from evil.

How can anyone in his right mind think that Islam would be indifferent to practices seeped in anti-Islamic ideas and beliefs? Islam came to destroy paganism in all its forms and it cannot tolerate any trace of it in the lives of its followers.

Further, Islam is very sensitive about maintaining its purity and the unique identity of its followers. Islamic laws and teachings go to extra lengths to ensure it. Salat (Prayers) is forbidden at the precise times of sunrise, transition, and sunset to eliminate the possibility of confusion with the practice of sun worship. To the voluntary recommended fast on the tenth of Muharram, Muslims are required to add another day (9th or 11th) to differentiate it from the then prevalent Jewish practice. Muslims are forbidden to emulate the appearance of non-Muslims.

A Muslim is a Muslim for life. During joys and sorrows, during celebrations and sufferings, we must follow the one straight path – not many divergent paths. It is a great tragedy that under the constant barrage of commercial and cultural propaganda from the forces of globalization and the relentless media machine, Muslims have begun to embrace the Valentines, the Halloween ghost, and even the Santa Claus. Given our terrible and increasing surrender to paganism the only day we should be observing is a day of mourning. Better yet it should be a day of repentance that could liberate us from all these days.

Please Forward it to other Muslim brothers and sisters to stop them from practicing such bid’ah… It is our duty as a Muslim and a Human being to spread the knowledge of our deen.May ALLAH forgive us for the sins we do consciously or unconsciously.. A’ameen

Is it possible for students to work?

Yes it is possible. Adding task from works to homeworks might not be the ideal way to learn and earn, but when you’ve got no other option but to do it, remember several points below.

Are you ready?

Ask yourself whether you’re really need and ready to do it. Both, study and work would require more of your time, energy and mind. When you’re certain enough that you’re going to do both at the same time, go for it.

Find the perfect job

Make sure that you can combine your work schedule with your schedule at school. If it is possible, tell your bos that you’re still studying. Hopefully your bos can help you in adjusting your work schedule with school.

Work to learn

Mostlikely you can use your work as a form of learning. Perhaps not exactly related to your major of studies, but one day you’ll need to know how to share, cooperate and compete in the healthy way.

Manage your time

Working while studying would make you have less time in almost every aspect of your life. That way you need to manage your time accordingly and stick to the plans you’ve made.

Don’t forget homework

Since you’re a student, then your study still have to come first. You can do your homework after work, or ask your bos if is it okay if you’re doing your homework whenever you’ve got nothing to do in your working place.

When it’s time to refresh your mind

Use holiday to the max. It is time to take a rest or indulge your self with things you want but can not do during working and studying hours. That way, forget anything related to study and work. Go ahead have some fun.
