A vegetarian is a person who won’t eat anything that can have children. “David Brenner”

If slaughterhouses had glass walls, the whole world would be a vegetarian.

You put a baby in a crib with an apple and a rabbit. If it eats the rabbit and plays with the apple, I’ll buy you a new car. “Harvey Diamond”

The love for all living creatures is the noblest attribute of man.”Charles Darwin”

Vegetarian: A person who eats only side dishes. “Gerald Lieberman”

Everyone’s a pacifist between wars. It’s like being a vegetarian between meals. “Colman McCarthy”

I couldn’t kill a chicken, I couldn’t kill a cow – I was a vegetarian too at that time – so I thought, well what is there that I could kill? I couldn’t kill this and I couldn’t kill that. “Ellen Burstyn”

I’m a vegetarian – I think there’s a strong possibility, had I not become a vegetarian, I would not be working now. I became a vegetarian about 25 years ago, and I did it out of concern for animals. But I immediately began having more energy and feeling better. “Bob Barker”

I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants. “A. Whitney Brown”

Vegetarianism is a way of living consciously on the planet. “Amy Smart”

Yes, sometimes unusual things happen after a switch to a vegetarian diet. I’ve seen a number of cases in which the poor people broke out in violent attacks of good health, followed by bouts of physical exercise and sweet thoughts. “Bernard Lewis”

I don’t understand why asking people to eat a well-balanced vegetarian diet is considered drastic, while it is medically conservative to cut people open and put them on cholesterol-lowering drugs for the rest of their lives. “Dean Ornish”

The closer you can live to being a vegetarian the better. “Gary Player”

If you could see or feel the suffering you wouldn’t think twice. Give back life. Don’t eat meat. “Kim Basinger”

A human can be healthy without killing animals for food. Therefore if he eats meat he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite. “Leo Tolstoy”

Everyone’s a pacifist between wars. It’s like being a vegetarian between meals. “Colman McCarthy”

Nothing will benefit human health, and increase the chances for survival of life on Earth, as much as the evolution to a Vegetarian Diet. “Albert Einstein”

I did it for political, moral reasons, thinking that I was making this great sacrifice, but it was absolutely necessary; I was not going to contribute to the violence in the world anymore. “Aicia Silverstone

Tips on how to tell when you have a bad attitude, how having a positive attitude can help you, how you can have a more positive outlook, and The Optimist’s Creed by Christian D. Larson from the book The Secret.

You’ve got a bad attitude! How to turn that frown upside down!

By Valerie Kline

If you wake up in the morning and the sun is shining, but all you notice is the single cloud that may wipe it out later, you are focusing on the wrong thing! Attitude is all about focus and emphasis. Being positive comes from looking at things from the perspective that things will happen for the best. Focusing on the negative brings you down mentally, physically, socially, and emotionally.

So do you feel like you see the glass half empty? Then this article can help you. Below are some tips on how to identify if you have a bad attitude, the benefits of a positive attitude, how to have a more positive outlooke, and The Optimist’s Creed by Christian D. Larson from The Secret.

Clues that you need an attitude adjustment:

· You complain even on sunny, warm days.

· You complain on holidays.

· You complain about seeing family/friends.

· Your family/friends/roommate/boyfriend doesn’t want to hang out with you.

· You feel unsatisfied and discontent no matter what you try.

· You are unhappy! (That’s probably half of America on a given day!)

· Someone tells you “You need an attitude adjustment!”

· The glass looks half empty.

·

A Positive Attitude Can…

· Boost your self esteem because you look at yourself in a positive way.

· Help meet people because you are not suspicious or negative about other people.

· Make friends because you bring the people around you ‘up’ with your optimism.

· Create opportunities for you because you don’t limit yourself with negatives – I’ll try vs. I can’t.

· Increase your creativity and productivity at work and other places because you’re not complaining, rather you’re focusing on problem solving.

· Improve your motivation because you can talk yourself into becoming excited about something when you look at it in the right light.

· Reduce stress because you are able to see what you have accomplished, not what you have not gotten done.

·

How to Gain a Positive Attitude

· Put things into perspective; how bad is your ‘bad’ situation compared to someone else’s?

· Everything has a yin and a yang, a positive and negative side. Focus on the positive side and what you can gain from it.

· Visualize yourself being successful.

· Use positive words, such as “I can,” and “it is possible.”

· Watch movies that make you happy and read books that you enjoy.

· Try to avoid watching too much news; they cover mainly depressing material for shock value.

· Hang out with other optimistic people. It is hard to remain optimistic for long around someone who is a downer.

· Do activities and hobbies that you feel confident in and enjoy.

· Engage in daily physical activity.

· Smile! Especially when you don’t feel like it. This not only helps your attitude, but it brightens someone else’s day!

The Optimist’s Creed by Christian D. Larson from The Secret found at http://lifepassion.net/the-optimists-creed-from-the-secret/.

Each day, I promise myself:

To be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person I meet.

To make all my friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true.

To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every living creature I meet.

To give so much time to improving myself that I have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of myself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words, but in great deeds.

To live in the faith that the whole world is on my side, so long as I am true to the best that is in me.

Peta,Non-Vegetarian,Vegetarian,Meat,Eduction.

                                 WHY OR WHY NOT?

Life is full of options. Nowadays if you wish to buy anything then u would have lots of options. For example if you wanted to have new jeans, or wanted to buy a pair of shoes then there are lots of options available in the market. Even if you want drinking water then there are lot brands available. The thing is that what suits you the most, you will buy or the most tempting option available will be chosen by you.

This is also applicable to food products. When you go to any restaurant, the most difficult task is to give order out of the long book of restaurant, that is, the menu card. Recently I saw an advertisement of chicken tikka on television .it was so much tempting that I decided that I will also try non veg . At home everybody is against non veg as they have their religious beliefs. They said that ist Paap, but who cares when you are miles away from your home. I thaught “khaa lete hain , fir Gangaji to paas he hain.”

But before starting non-veg I decided to take others opinion about it. So I started aking others “Why you eat non veg?”.

Some said we eat it, because its very tasty. Tasty? But what if somebody find taste in human flesh also. Is that we can eat anything which is tasty. Then indirectly you are justifying the most shocking Nithari Kaand.

Some said that you can increase your body fat easily by eating flesh. Eating others flesh to increase yours! Isn’t it really shameful.

But some of the opinions were really intresting like If we don’t eat animals then they will grow in an uncontrolled manner. Wao… isn’t it India’s population is also increasing at an alarming rate? Wht if other countries also start eating us!

Many are of the opinion “foreign jaa ke to khaana he hai , you are going to became an engineer , veg food is not easily available everywhere, why not start now”. Recent survey shows that more foreigners are tuning vegetarian. If they can find out veg to eat, then why can’t we.

Then I saw a documentary on brutally killing of animals of PETA for providing raw material for restaurants. The animals were kept in worse conditions and were given food to increase their body fat rapidly, resulting in broken legs due to high body fat. They were hanging by legs and their throat was slit to remove all the blood. Beaks of hens were broken what more to tell is even harder to say. All this! Just to make your one time meal. Also when I went through the meat shops, animals were hanging there and saw how they are killed ,it shake me completely from inside. Even if you think this is not true ,one thing is true that they got killed before cooking them.

Is that we have the power to kill, and then we can kill anyone. Is that there are no courts for animals where we have to face trials. They are weak then us and can’t speak doesn’t mean that they don’t feel pain.

So finally I have decided not to became a non vegetarian. Thank God I was educated enough to think. Not of that type “ When not seen by yourself, everything is fine”. If you have any reasons that we should eat Non Veg then kindly tell me.

My first week as a vegan and I why I changed my diet and life.

For my 30th birthday, I decided to go vegan. Less of a gift to myself, more like the ultimate resolution. I’ve made it through the first week, and if I can do it, so can you!

Through my teens and 20s I was vegetarian for 15+ years. I didn’t eat meat, but I did eat dairy and eggs. This was more of an emotional choice about not wanting to kill animals and therefore, my diet was really awful. I ate junk food and more times than not, had some extra pounds to show for it.

I’ve been slightly over weight most of my life but never to the extent that it would cause health problems. Or so I thought. Turns out I was wrong because at around 26 years of age, I was diagnosed with extremely high blood pressure. Not just high, but shockingly high. I tried medications. One kind didn’t work enough. Then another kind worked too much. I eventually gave up on medications and doctors. I got tired of being told I could have a stroke and die, but nothing they were giving me was helping. In fact, not one of the doctors suggested that I change my diet to help, because I was never overweight enough to blame it on that.

So about 6 months ago I went on a healthy vegetarian diet. I lost some weight slowly and felt things were going OK at first. But then everything came to a bit of a stall at some point and I realized I was addicted to cheese and dairy. I never felt great, my blood pressure was still very high and I still felt about 10-20 lbs overweight. Sluggish would be the word to describe how I felt. Even though everything else I ate was healthy, I was really over doing it on the dairy without even realizing it. It had become my comfort food.

I decided it was time to make the ultimate choice. It was me or the cheese and the cheese had to go. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I feel like a new person, inside and out. My body feels happy and its only been a week! My appetite has diminished and I actually have to remind myself to eat! I’ve lost weight and its been days since I’ve had any symptoms of my high blood pressure. It will take the numbers some time to come down, but I know they will. This is not an easy thing to do, and doing the right thing isn’t always easy, but its worth it in the end.

In the discussion of food, vegetarianism is obviously a central theme. Below are some of the many arguments put forward to support vegetarianism.

So, vegetarianism, huh?

Eating meat makes people the nth consumer that takes only 10 percent of energy from the meat we consume. Why not be the first one waiting in line or the primary consumer that eats vegetables and fruits? This is one of the philosophies of people who choose to be vegetarians. But first we ask, “Who are vegetarians?”

They are those who save hundreds of animals every year simply by choosing a plant-based diet. Many look at the facts and become vegetarians for health reasons. Others are excited about the positive impact they can have on the environment, while some become vegetarians because they’re seeking the spiritual growth many of the world’s religions teach.

As a vegetarian myself, I have been asked the same repeating questions throughout the years, and now I finally have the chance to share my answers to the world.

1. Is it natural for humans to eat meat?

Human digestive systems, tooth and jaw structure, natural instincts and bodily functions are absolutely distinct from that of carnivorous animals. Carnivorous animals share many unique characteristics which set them apart from all other members of the animal kingdom: very short bowels-three times the length of the body-for rapid expulsion of putrefactive bacteria from decomposing flesh; stomachs with 10 times as much hydrochloric acid as non-carnivorous animals, anti-down motion of jaws; sharply pointed, elongated canines; lack of molar teeth.

These show that humans are not carnivorous by nature; our anatomy and digestive systems must have evolved for millions of years living on fruits, nuts, grains and vegetables. As in the case of the anthropoid ape, man’s bowels are 12 times the length of his or her body being designed for the slow digestion of vegetables and fruits which are noted for slow decay.

2. Are there dangers in eating meat?

Poisoning. Just before and during the agony of being slaughtered, the biochemistry of the terrified animal undergoes profound changes as it futilely struggles for life. Toxic by-products and large quantities of adrenalin are forced throughout the body, thus pain-poisoning the entire carcass. According to Encyclopedia Brittanica, body poisons, including uric acid and other toxic wastes are present in the blood and tissue: “…protein obtained from nuts, pulses (lentils, peas, etc.), grains and dairy products is said to be relatively pure as compared to beef with a 50 percent impure water content.”

The fats of animal flesh, such as cholesterol, line the walls of water vessels, and as the meat-eater gets older, the openings of his vessels get smaller and smaller. Pressure on the heart increases: heart failure, high blood pressure, and stroke results.

Among the most prominent wastes a meat-eater loads in his or her body with are urea and uric acid (nitrogen compounds). Beefsteak, for example, contains about 14 grams of uric acid per pound. So kidneys of meat-eaters have to do three times the amount of work to eliminate poisonous nitrogen compounds in meat than do the kidneys of vegetarians. When people are young, they are usually able to bear this extra burden so that no evidence of injury or disease appears, but as the kidneys age and become worn out prematurely, they become unstable to do their work efficiently and frequently, kidney disease is the result.

3. Is it right to kill animals?

Since it is possible for us to live healthy lives without ever eating meat, it is appropriate to ask whether meat eating is a moral and humane habit. Clearly, animals do not give up their lives voluntarily so that we can have the luxury of eating meat. Many religious and spiritual groups have advocated a vegetarian diet, acknowledging the sacredness of all life and the need to live without causing suffering.

This is the idea: If vegetables are available, animals should not be slaughtered. Secondly, under any circumstances before killing any animal having developed or underdeveloped consciousness (awareness on things happening around), it is to be considered whether it is possible to live in a healthy body without taking such lives.

4. What about the politics of hunger?

Meat is the most uneconomical and inefficient food we can eat. In order to produce meat, vast acreage of land is user to grow cattle feed. The cattle consume about ten times more protein and calories than they return in the form of their meat. In other words, 90 percent “goes down the drain.” Adding the expense of their feed to the other costs of rearing, the cost of meat protein comes to about 20 times the cost of the plan protein.

Instead of wasting land for meat production, these acres could be used far productively if utilized to plant grains, beans and legumes for direct human consumption. For example, one acre of land used to raise a cow will provide one pound of animal protein; but this same land planted with soybeans will produce 17 pounds of soya protein. In addition, soybeans are more nutritious, contain less fat and free from the poisons of meat.

If we considered our grain supply and gave it to the poor and malnourished, instead of to the cow, we could easily feed all of the chronically underfed people of the world. If we ate half as much meat, we could release enough food to feed the entire “developing world.” If vegetarianism becomes the norm, we will have much more food, more space, more natural resources, and a better world to live in.

Overall, the decision whether to eat meat or not is still a personal one, but based on the arguments against it, it is rather difficult to find a case in favor of meat-eating-except of course where it is absolutely necessary for physical reasons.

Cities are seeing the emergence of society and buildings, which permit people based on their food habits. Find out whether it is good or bad. What are the arguments in favor and in opposition of such society?

Nowadays, rapid urbanization is causing failure of traditional community based societies.

Image via Wikipedia

As a result, people are coming together to form a new type of society. This society is not based on caste, creed, language or religion but on the ideas of the people.

Vegetarian Society is one such type of society.

Image via Wikipedia

As the name suggests, it is a society of vegetarians. It believes that vegetarian food is good for health and environment, and animals are living beings. People from different backgrounds become part of this society. They have no common reason to become vegetarian. Some of the foreseeable reasons include religion, family, health, environment, and love for animals.

This society prefers to have separate buildings for themselves, as they do not want their relationships with non-vegetarians become sour due to their eating habits. Secondly, it becomes hard for them to tolerate the aroma of non-vegetarian food. Finally, they prefer to have maximum similarities with their neighbors to avoid conflicts.

Since, most of the vegetarian societies exist in high profile places, non-vegetarians feel discriminated. They feel that such practice restricts them from enjoying the life of high profile areas. Muslims and lower class people feel that they are being discriminated based on their religion and caste as they have non-vegetarian diet.

However, I feel that such claims by non-vegetarians are baseless. Since, they can also make buildings in those areas and can enjoy the lifestyle of high profile areas.

Look at yourself in the mirror. What do you see? Do you see a cheerful person? Are you looking at an ill-tempered and irritable child?

The way you view yourself is your self-concept. Concept means idea so your self-concept is the idea that you have about yourself. The way you see yourself, of course, may be completely different to how others see you.

Your self-concept is important because how you act, communicate, and deal with others is connected closely with this. To have a high level of self-esteem, you need to have a positive view of yourself and the opposite is also true. A negative view of yourself lowers your self-esteem because you focus on your feelings and your insecurity leads to a low level of self-confidence.

How you see yourself is also affected by your likes and dislikes, the activities you do well, and those you need to improve on. You may see yourself as a good basketball player, a fast reader, or an excellent chess player.

However, there are ways to improve your self-concept. Think about what you think of yourself right now and tell whether it is holding you back or not. Ask yourself these questions:

1. Am I happy with how I look?

2. Am I a good person?

3. Am I sociable or a bit shy?

4. Am I likable?

5. Do I have an attractive personality?

6. Am I honest?

7. Am I able to communicate well?

8. Am I positive?

9. Do others respond to my potentials?

10. Am I confident?

11. Am I decisive?

12. Do I live according to my values and beliefs?

Your answers to these questions depend on your self-concept.

The other ways you can do to improve your self-concept are the following:

1. Be cheerful. Smile a lot. Laugh out loud if you must.

2. Be clean and neat. Take a bath. Wear clean clothes.

3. Be honest, trustful, sincere, and loyal.

4. Be responsible.

5. Be resourceful.

6. Be thoughtful. Practice good manners. Always say “please” and “thank you.”

7. Be cooperative.

Each person is a combination of different characteristics. When your physical, mental, emotional, and social characteristics are in harmony, you reflect a favorable and interesting personality. So when you look at others, they look or behave in a certain situation because you don’t know them much. Remember the saying, “Don’t judge the book by its cover.” Prevent yourself from making unsolicited comments about others, especially if these remarks do more harm than good or bring about animosity.

Vegetarians. We all know them, we hear about them, but why bother with it, you may ask. Maybe you have no interest and are just reading this page for the sake of it. Maybe your already a vegetarian of some sort and are planning to go further to become a vegan or a Lacto-Ovo. Whatever your reasons, thanks for reading.

Lets Begin.

POLLOTARIAN

Somebody who eats chicken, but no other meat. Dairy and eggs are eaten too. Often don’t believe in eating animals but can’t live without chicken.

PESHATARIAN

Somebody who eats fish, but not any other meat (including chicken). They eat dairy and eggs too. Often don’t believe in eating meat. Fish is a good protein/iron source, so they sub it in with that.

LACTO-OVO

Someone who eats nothing that has eyes, as I put it. But animal byproducts are allowed.

VEGAN

Someone who doesn’t eat animal byproducts or animals. The strictest. Most convert to this as they don’t believe in animals being constantly pregnanted to create milk.

I have been a vegetarian for a number of years now. I believe that the pros outweigh the cons of the taste and texture I know that many of you love. If it didn't taste good then you wouldn't eat it.

Image via Wikipedia

I have some friends who go alternating between one week meat and one week vegetarian. If you can’t see yourself giving up meat entirely then many of the benefits listed in this top 10 can still be obtained partially by eating less meat.

1. Cancer and Disease per some studies are less likely in those following a vegetarian diet. Vegetarian diets can be beneficial in protection against gastrointestinal cancers plus those relating to smoking

Image via Wikipedia

2. Suffering (the death) of fellow living creatures will be reduced if you give up meat. Many are divorced from the fact that pork and bacon was a pig and a steak was a Cow. No death is a good death no matter how the marketing people put a spin on it. In fact the advertising I see on TV these days are sending the message to people that if you don’t eat meat you have something wrong with you. Is killing a good thing?

Image via Wikipedia

3. Your health may be better. Look at all the detox diets and the food that you eat to cleanse. Being vegetarian means you are always in a cleansed state with lower fat and higher fibre.

4. You will feel better. A vego diet per some studies really can help with stamina and endurance.

5. Stop Global Warming and harmful effects to the environment. It is a fact that more resources are used to get mean on your plate versus vegetables. Less steps are required for vegetables and so this means less transportation environmental impacts, less energy consumption which means less pollution, etc

Image via Wikipedia

6. You can live longer. According to a gentleman named William Castelli (google his name) vegeterians outlive other people by about 6 years.

7. Save money. In addition to point 3 you have an easy way to beat the recession and save money by becoming vegetarian. In some countries you get better premiums on life insurance!

8. Sleep better at night because you know you have not hurt any creatures and caused any unneccessary suffering and hurt to our planet.

Image via Wikipedia

9. Be unique to the opposite sex. Albeit married I can tell you that as a male vegeterian I nearly always have women who are interested to talk to me about the reasons I’m vegetarian. When one member of the opposite sex start talking to you it starts to attract the others to do the same. Being vego could be great for your love life.

10. This really isn’t a reason however you will find that many well known people in the world are vegetarians

Are you fulfilling your dreams and your passions? Are you doing what you said you would do this year so far?

As we embark on a new month have you done or started to accomplish some of the things that you said you would accomplish this year. What has God told you do and it is still sitting on the shelf? Have you found what you are passionate about?

So many times we walk around aimlessly and frustrated because we do not know what it is we are supposed to be doing, We’re just letting this thing call “life” lead us around. So you’re not really doing what makes you happy or what you’re passionate about. Instead you are doing what “life” says you need to do. Did you know that “life” nor your “circumstances” can dictate what you do in life or bring about your happiness.

Once you have your dream and what you’re passionate about grab hold to it and don’t look back. Why would you look back? Your dreams and ambitions aren’t back there so why look? Do whatever it takes to make your dream a reality. You have to believe in you before anyone else will.

You will find that when you do head toward your dreams there will be a spark, a glow, that wasn’t there before. When you talk to people your eyes will light up and it will make them want to be interested and want to jump right on with you. The key is if you can get people to jump with you. If so, you have successfully conveyed and displayed your passion to the world and to yourself. Now you are on your way.

Now that you are on your way to making your dream a reality you will need those people around you that are willing to jump with you. Just because it’s your dream does not mean you are supposed to go out and do it alone. No man is an island. Find mentors (those that are doing what you want to do and gleam from them). Mentors do not have to be people that you know, if you find a book or take a course from someone that really inspires and helps you then they are your mentor. Find supporters out there, those that celebrate you, and finally “Get away from those with your problem and around people that have your solution!”
