Lucid dreaming is dreaming while being aware of dreaming. The key here is to develop the skill so that while dreaming you still encounter psychological challenges, but you are aware enough to remember these challenges and will therefore be better equipped to put the messages to use in your waking life. Many people have experience lucid dreaming by all of a sudden being aware in the middle of a dream that they are dreaming, but with practice you can have lucid dreams intentionally and take advantage of the benefits of lucid dreaming.
