It is 99 years to the day since the RMS Titanic hit an iceberg and sunk in the icy cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean while on its way from Southampton in England to New York City. The collision with the iceberg happened shortly before midnight on the 14th of April 1912, the boat sank at 2.20 am in what remains one of the biggest maritime disasters to happen in peacetime anywhere in the world.
