This article looks at the differences between motivation and manipulation as a management style.

Motivation and manipulation may sound similar, but they have very little in common in the workplace. Motivation is a very desirable trait in employees and beneficial to future career advancement. Many people use manipulation disguised as an attempt to motivate to get what they want for themselves. In practice, the differences between motivation and manipulation can be subtle but significant.

Motivation has a desire to bring improvement as its basis.

While motivated employees may be good for business, that same motivation is also good for them. Motivated people have a better outlook and tend to be more energetic on the job. When employers find ways to motivate employees, they are doing both themselves and the employee a favor.

Manipulation tends to be self-serving and does not actually regard the feelings or desires of those being motivated.

Manipulation is a way for one person to get someone else to do something that is wanted or needed without the second person receiving anything significant in return. This method of getting others to do something usually results in a loss of true motivation. When people realize that they have been manipulated, it is normal for them to feel used or even abused because of it.

Try to determine if you are motivating or manipulating.

One simple way to avoid becoming a manipulator is to determine why you are asking a person or group to accomplish a task. If it is to get you out of doing it or to get something for free, there is a good chance that you will be using manipulation to get the job done. Examine the outcome of the process. Is it highly likely that the person who does the work will feel good about the job or receive some personal benefit from it? If this is not the case, you can assume that at least part of the process is more manipulation than motivation.

Motivation will generally lead to bigger and more enduring outcomes.

When motivation is used to achieve a goal, everyone will walk away feeling a sense of completion or accomplishment. Like physical exercise, motivation will have an effect that carries forward after the task at hand is completed. A person who has been motivated to do it once will often be eager to do it again. Even more significant is the fact that motivation in one area will usually pour over into the other endeavors that the person does. He or she will not only be improved as an employee but also as a person.

As leaders and managers, people must be careful to use motivation and not manipulation.

In order to get the best results from workers, you need them to want to work for you not just to do their job. Managers who motivate employees receive satisfaction from watching those employees grow and not just produce. Learn to celebrate the accomplishments of those that you lead. This motivates them to press to perform more and better quality tasks.

This article is about business agents who control illegal immigration reform, conservatives, and getting back to work.

The reason for the Republican sentiment for illegal immigration reform is because agents of Corporate America are demanding this reform from candidates they give donations. American politics start with major contributors. This is one of those unwritten rules.

Otherwise, how are the actions of politicians such as Marco Rubio explained. A person would have to be living in a cave not to know that conservatives have no patience for illegal immigration reform? I know people who identify them selves as Hispanic politicians need to speak to the politics of the larger part of the Hispanic people.

However, regardless of these politicians actions it is time for Americans to stand up. The continued illegal immigration by Mexicans and others is not in the best interest of the United States of America.

Big corporate farmers, manufacturers, and home builders need to get over their addiction to cheap labor. These groups make enough profit. They can afford to pay Americans a good wage to work for them.

I say we find out who these entities who manipulate politics from behind closed doors and not buy anything from them. The US belongs to the people of the United States, not corrupt politicians and manipulative money entities.

I wish politicians could be people of convictions and virtues. However, politicians make strategic moves in politics in order to generate wealth.

Therefore, the people of the US must keep these politicians in line. It will not be enough to help Mr. Mitt Romney elected to the office of the presidency. The people will have to let Romney know there values on a daily basis. I believe there will have to be many demonstrations, worker strikes, and email, phone calls, and personal visit campaigns.

I have written a lot about my problems with Mitt Romney. His credentials in business are excellent. However, Mr. Romney cannot seem to stay loyal to any belief system.

I have written about Mr. Romney’s superstitious religion. Conservatives who vote for Romney will not be voting for a Mormon. Voting for a person of Mormonism is not supporting the Mormon superstitions.

In comparison to Obama, Mr. Romney is better. The conservative people of the US will be able to keep Mr. Romney in line.

I am going to say it again. It is time for the US to bring her military personnel and their families home. The world is about to implode. America’s enemies, Iran, Russia, China, will try to take advantage of the chaos to invade the US.

Furthermore, the American Economy solution is for people to get back to work. The job does not matter. Long hours and little days to rest are not great issues.

Life is attitude. Work generates money. We use money to purchase the basics in life. Therefore, work has purpose.

I firmly believe that when people get back to work America will start working again. We should not hold success in this country hostage to our personal bad attitude.

I know what it is to want a different life and not get it. However, I still operate my taxi and pay for the basics of life.

It is without question we in the US are in crisis. However, most of the crisis is a crisis of the spirit.

We were talked in to and idea. This idea has not presented itself to us no matter how hard we work. Now we want to sulk and have a tantrum.

Part of my life philosophy includes being realistic in a healthy way. There is not need to look at what we have to do to survive with animosity, hatred, and loathing. God only promised us the sun, rain, land, and animals, not 500 million in a lottery.

Therefore, no one can claim that they do not have any resources to build a life. Fruits and vegetables can keep us alive very well.

We think that the modern industrial ideal is owed to us. I believe we owe our best to our selves. Negative and immature attitude is not our best.

Mr. Romney may appear a certain way. However, we can make sure he will act like an ultra conservative.

It is time for Jose and his cousins to go home. Mexicans in the US are unwanted guest, who have over stayed their “welcome”, and have now made pest of them selves.

In the last two days, I have had several conversations with citizens of Mexico. Yesterday, I had the brilliant idea of training the illegals from Mexico in the US how to be good urban warfare soldiers with the condition that these Mexicans would return to Mexico and take care of the corrupt politicians, corrupt business people, and the other criminals in their country. Mexico’s only chance is that the citizens of Mexico declare war on the agents of violence and death in their country. Of course, my concern was that these trained Mexicans would turn their weapons on Americans.

The US needs financially responsible, ethical, and moral political leadership. Taxes to pay for basic national services are adequate. Federal and all other governments should only spend on what is necessary for basic services, such as military and law enforcement. Regulations to protect consumers and employees from legitimate threats are also adequate. Governments should never do for people what people can do for them selves, such as keep track of their investments.

Now, we know that politicians promise but once elected do something else. I offer the republicans who got elected to the US House of representatives stating they would keep spending down and them helped raise the American debt limit as an example .

Therefore, We have no option but to help Mr. Romney to get elected. In addition, we are going to have to make sure all republicans who get elected in 2012 do exactly what we demand from them.

A brief explanation as to how human beings use concepts to understand the world and how propaganda works.

Walter Lippmann – Public Opinion

“The way in which the world is imagined determines at any particular moment what men will do. (It does not determine what they will achieve. It determines their effort, their feelings, their hopes, not their accomplishments and results.)”

Lippmann believed the world (our reality) is too big to truly comprehend. In order to make sense of reality, he thought human beings used stereotypes to help shape their view of the world.

These stereotypes help to create mental pictures in our minds, which we use to interpret reality. ”Certainly for the most part, the way we see things is a combination of what is there and of what we expected to find.”

Propaganda is used as a tool to help shape images in the minds of human beings in support of an enterprise, idea or group. Propaganda can be used to substitute one social pattern for another.

Lippmann argued that people rely on the images in their minds in formulating judgments rather than by critically thinking. He advised, “Yet in truly effective thinking the prime necessity is to liquidate judgments, regain an innocent eye, disentangle feelings, be curious and open-hearted.”

Advice is often not as benevolent as it seems.

Advice is, when given without permission, an attempt to control the world around oneself. If one walks up to another and gives advice without being asked for it, it can be for no other reason than to attempt to control that other person. One who takes such advice is only allowing theirself to be controlled by another.

If I see that you are having trouble in your romantic relationship, and approach you without invitation and tell you that you would be better off single, I am acting as the manipulator. In such a case, I must have some reason why I want you to be single, whether that be a specific reason or me just wanting to affirm some kind of worldview. Otherwise, I would not seek to give you advice in the first place.

However, when one asks for advice, it is different. In this case, someone sees a weakness in themself and seeks the experience of another to assist in their decision. It is the taking of confidence in another who is known to be more knowledgable on a subject. This is a much more respectable act than that of giving unwanted advice. Where one is manipulative and parasitic, the other is simply a means to an end, and cannot be judged so harshly.

Now, an alternative to the first example: Suppose you are having trouble in your romantic relationship, and want to do something to fix it. But, say you lack experience in this area. If you know for a fact that I do not lack this experience, you might come to me for advice. In this case I am not acting as the manipulator, but simply as a friend. Unless I am truly malicious and seek to mislead you, but that is beside the point.

Not a game you sit down and play with other people.

I like to play a game. I like to call this game “The Manipulation Game”. You play by manipulating other people. Manipulation is a valuable life skill and this game will help build that skill. This game takes confidence, an ability to lie, questionable ethics, and an ability to hide stuff from others.

You start by finding minor things that you want to change. Your a kid and want an extra cookie? I’m sure you can get it. All you have to do is create an argument for it (A long argument should work, but try to think it out). By creating logical arguments and small lies you can get anything. There is more and the previous statement should not be taken literally.

The above part is fairly easy. This is the complicated and fun part. You must fool people into thinking you aren’t manipulating them. People must “read” you like a book. To create an effective cover you must live this cover. You must keep your manipulating colors hidden. People think I couldn’t tell a lie if my life depended on it. This is partially true, in card games I can’t bluff at all, and I actually do hate lying. In reality I can lie incredibly well, I’m not proud of it, but I can tell anyone anything, especially over the Internet.

But of course the point of every game is to have fun, and in this game “fun” happens to be a massive rush. To truly have fun with this you have to drop hints that you are playing. Take risks, I told people some stuff to be honest. Now people think I am an honest person. If that went wrong people would wonder what else I had hiding.

Of course I don’t actually use this as my way to manipulate people. In my life I just manipulate. This kind of stuff becomes natural and you do it unconsciously. If I told you how I manipulated people I would have no more fun. Work on your skills at manipulating and maybe I will be caught on your hook one day.

DISCLAIMER: I wrote this for entertainment purposes and to just write something because my views were going down. This is completely fictional and I do not advocate manipulating anyone or breaking the law in anyway. I am not responsible for any trouble you get yourself into. I am not responsible for any harm you may have caused to yourself or those around you by following this guide.

P.S. You lost the game.

Advertising…. I am talking about the likes of ‘Local mum reveals her secret’, ‘Dermatologists hate her’ ‘make money from your sofa’ and so forth. These advertisements are everywhere on Triond.

My emotional response to these advertisements is firstly of irritation. Stop pestering me with these too-good-to-be-true methods of saving face! My secondary response is fascination. Although these advertisements are hokum our eye is drawn into them. For me it is not because I am interested in buying the product or trying the technique but because there is something decidedly sinister about the Grandmother peeling off her face mask to reveal the twentysomething underneath. It is the stuff of Grimm Fairy-tale. How a 57 year old can suddenly look 27 is uncanny.

What’s also surprising is that the advertisements are residentially specific. Oxford Mum …blah blah, Telford Mum etc. etc. etc… They know where we live! One half expects to see them climbing up the drainpipe after dark, armed with trial packs of night time remedies for younger looking skin. Tapping on the window panes with salon perfect acrylic nails.

My final response is one of pity (for the uneducated and vulnerable consumers who might be tempted to try anything in the name of reclaiming their youth.

In order for these ads to be in circulation, somebody must be clicking on them. I know that in order for Triond to keep our profile pages free of charge there needs to be some advertising done. Those wise enough to appreciate this may be clicking on the adverts themselves. You may hate her as much as her dermatologist but you need her as well.

There is a saying, "Those Who Forget History Are Doomed to Repeat It".

If the saying “Those Who Forget History Are Doomed to Repeat It” is true, why do people still attempt to rewrite our history.

From what I have read, in many cases when there is a conflict, the victor usually retell the story in their favor. Basically rewriting the history.

At one time history was a very important subject in our schools. However, when it was revealed that the most revered heroes in our history are of a different race, there was a lot of disbelieve and argument the stories are not true. However, when it could no longer be argued, suddenly all references and stories of the once revered heroes were erased. Apparently, the injury to the ego was just too much.

In the latest attempt to rewrite our history, these very same people now argued that our country was never colonized and it was just a matter of semantics.

All these appears to be politically driven.

So who is telling the truth or who is not, I can’t tell. I am not a historian but based on what I have seen, it appears to be an obvious attempt to rewrite our history. For those who studied history, we see both sides of the story. However, for the new generation, will they still know which is true.

The fact that you know a different history, does that mean you are doomed to repeat mistakes made in the past?

False sentiments, Bad Poetry: what is in a word?

No amount of pretentious poetry or flowery speech can ever make a person complete. There is a point where such written sentiments become no more than snappy catch phrases, buzzwords, and talking points which hold as much meaning as “Drill, Baby, Drill”. Aside from sexual innuendo and crude metaphor, the writer/speaker has no intention of “drilling”, or committing to any other act save that of shouting words which represent actions that the user has no will to actualize.

The receiver of the poetry/speech/words will let their own imaginings set the acceptable parameters for the words recieved, ergo, attaching their own meanings (complete with edits and substitutions) as filtered through their own conceptual perspective and open to subjective interpretation contingent on the flawed memory of past experience.

In the process, the initial meaning (regardless of simplicity) may be completely lost on the reader, while inversely serving the agenda of the wordsmith who wrote/spoke/served the poem/phrase/lyric/essay/thesis , therefore satisfying a need by providing a foundation for an actionable response from the receiver of said words.

While words like “life”, “death”, and “pregnant” convey concepts which are absolute, they are only solid in that artificial constructs of human logic, contingent on human knowledge, and subject to change as conflicting data is discovered and introduced to expand the parameters of the conceptual matrix.

Words like “love”, “hate”, “wealth”, “health”, and “beauty” are ambiguously fluid, and open to interpretation, even within a closed logical conceptual construct, as they define relative states of being, ruling out the conceptual crutch of “absolutes”.

So, how much can you really say, in a word?

Is it all about the words you use, or more about your ability to empathize and emote?

At what point does the logic and language of love break down into a melange of boorish writing and bad acting?

Behind every word; behind every action, there is the horror of the unknown: the primal fear associated with change and rebirth, but there is another horror that comes with being aware of the impermanence and trivialty of it all…and that is the REAL horror.

What happened to the oil market? Must be those “manipulators” again!

On April 21, 2011, President Barack Obama announced a task force to investigate “manipulation” of the oil market.

Well, Mr. President, and with apologies to comic strip character Pogo: You have met the manipulator and he is you!

Today’s release of 30 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is a blatant manipulation of the oil market. And it worked. Oil prices plunged. Speculators on the wrong side of this market manipulation lost a fortune — because they didn’t have the inside information that you were going to dump supply into the already-declining market.

Clearly the oil release was meant to stimulate the economy — something that all the money creation by the Fed and all the programs enacted by your Congress have been unable to do so far.

The markets figured out who would win and who would lose. Stocks of retailers rose more than 3 percent on average, amid hopes that the “extra” money in consumers pockets from lower gas prices will send people on a spending spree. Meanwhile, shares of oil companies and associated drilling and service companies plunged — helping to discourage more drilling.

After all, oil prices have been on the decline. The national average price of regular gasoline this week is $3.65 — lower than the $3.83 per gallon when you announced your task force.

Does today’s move have something to do with the latest political polls? Or, is it OK for the government to manipulate markets, but not the real users of the commodity and those who provide liquidity in global markets? Remember, the American economy is based on free and fair markets. And that’s the Savage Truth.
