Weed is not as harmful as other drugs so it should be legal.

Weed, Cannabis, Marijuana – whatever you may want to call it, but either way this drug should not be illegal!

Smoking tobacco has killed millions over the years, it is toxic and contains nictoine that makes you become addicted. Cannabis does not have toxins that make your lungs go black (tar), it does not have all carcinogens that give you cancer, and it does not have a substance that makes you addicted to it. So why on earth is Cannabis illegal?

Drinking alcohol also kills thousands. Drink driving, a drunken brawl in the pub or just a drunken mishap. Yet both of these are sold worldwide and are one of the biggest imports. There have been NO reported deaths from the use of Cannabis.

I know that there are many people out there who still smoke Cannabis and they shouldnt have to be in fear of being caught. It loosens you up makes you feel good, but does not kill you or make you do stupid things that could lead to your death. If it did not loosen you up why would it be used medically? Its a pain depressent, a pick up drug, the world would be a better place if people could blaze up with no worry of being caught.

Some drug takers seem to behave badly to non-drug takers.

POPPERS AND ALKYL NITRITES THE DRUG CHOICE OF THE AMATUER

I do not take drugs, apart from Alcohol. I don’t (and never did) smoke cigarettes, let alone Marijuana. That is not to say that I am an anti-drug – far from it. I think the very prohibition and ban fuels drug trafficking as Prohibition swept illegal alcohol sales in 1920’s Chicago.

I generally have no issues with people skinning up joints round me. In my1980’s student days no one made a big deal out of what they smoked and inhaled. I was tempted to try LSD but I never had the nerve to dare, being too fearful of a bad acid trip.

What impressed me was how matter of fact everyone was about what they took. Recently, however I saw the very opposite when invited to post-cabaret drinks with a few other attendees. They were eager for us to head to a particular bar, basically because they could openly buy their Poppers there and take them on the premises.

I’ve seen Poppers in action before, and like other drugs, they were usually taken discreetly and without much fuss. Few dared take drugs too openly for fear of arrest or public condemnation, but here, the usage was very open and direct. The users revered the poppers and made a big deal of taking them, and more importantly being seen taking them. Initial reactions to the vapour effects seemed contrived – the takers seemed too deliberately giddy and silly. One chap started inviting me to join in. I politely declined, initially appreciating the invitation / offer. After a few minutes he offered me the plastic bottle again, and then again. He seemed amused by my square indifference to taking the drug. The very offer was being made knowing my rejection of the phial was helping the taker to feel smugly superior to me. After about the tenth time the bottle was stuck under my nose I took it, giving the impression that I was giving in to temptation. Instead, I angrily, impatiently threw the sealed bottle across a vacant area of dance floor to bounce off a distant wall. Astonishingly it didn’t break. My would be dealer was mortified and crawled after his stash. He returned to our table and sat silent, pale, shell-shocked and trembling. Another friend advised him that no means no. I left him semi-catatonic and went home.

What alarmed me was not only the rampant ‘look at me. I’m taking a drug. Ain’t I cool?’ attitude, but also how open the poopers were in distribution and use. I discovered that though still illegal as a stimulant, Alkyl Nitrates could be sold legally as nail polish removers, deodorant sprays and cassette cleaning equipment. The drug is sold as these items in clubs and bars where it is freely them ingested as the one thing it is officially and legally not – a high inducing stimulant. The euphoria induced by Poppers has a certain sexual potency too, and Poppers are a poor man’s substitute for Viagra.

I have no problem with Poppers, but with the immaturity of some of its users – and their need to make such a song and dance out of it. Real drug takers just do it, and don’t look down their noses at those who are happy not to join in.

A realistic view on the war on drugs.

War On Drugs

The United States has a lot of issues that need to be dealt with, some with greater importance. Our Economy is slowly declining, our prisons are gradually growing, and people are beginning to notice the effects of decisions that our government makes. I have been researching the United States drug policy for not only the past few weeks, but for the past couple of years, it is interesting and enraging at the same time. The cost of the war on drugs is astounding, considering the tiny if any effect it has on the use and availability of drugs. Our prisons are overcrowded and thousands of people die every year due to the illegal drug trade. We need a change in our current drug policy and we are the ones who can help.

There were over 1,633,000 people arrested In 2009 for non-violent drug charges according to the team at drugpolicy.org. With such overcrowded prisons we let violent criminals serve a shorter sentence to make way for non-violent offenders, it’s just not right. We can’t forget about the massive amounts of money it takes to clothe and feed the prisoners, as well as the cost to maintain jails and prisons. Last year alone the United States government spent over fifty-one billion dollars on fighting this so called war on drugs, which, the more I learn about it, the more it seems like a war on American and Mexican citizens than a war on drugs.

Author Tony Newman of the USA Today newspaper writes on December 29, 2008, U.S. prisons are exploding with non-violent drug offenders, thousands die from drug prohibition violence along the border and drugs remain as plentiful and easy as ever to get. On the Mexican side of the border, gory tales of the drug war’s consequences dominate the daily headlines. This year, more Mexicans have died due to drug prohibition than have American service members in Iraq since the war started. Mexicans and Americans should question whether President Felipe Calderon and President Bush’s “war on drugs” is worth it. Although there are some compelling reasons drugs should remain illegal, we should at least begin an honest discussion about the root causes of the violence and the range of options to deal with the harm of drugs and their prohibition. It is clear that the strategy of the past 40 years is not working.

Tony Newman is absolutely right, it’s horrible how many people die every year because of drug prohibition, a lot of them are completely innocent people being murdered by the financing that drug cartels have due mostly because of us, the American people. In 2009 Juarez, Mexico, which is the epicenter of the whole drug war, had 2,650 murders resulting from drug cartels. I do not favor legalization, Although I believe we need to recognize that this has never been a drug-free society and never will be, so let’s stop pretending. Let’s even stop trying to get closer to a drug-free society and instead just accept that drugs are here to stay. Then we can focus on reducing the harm both of drug use and of drug prohibition. An ideal strategy would reduce the negative consequences of both.

So what can we all do to help rid ourselves of this damaging policy? Signing petitions for a sensible drug policy reformation is an easy option to help out and only takes a few seconds. There are plenty of online petitions out there and you will be able to find one that suits your likes quite easily. After you sign your name on a petition you can also donate money to organizations who help to fight the current drug policy. Some of the biggest organizations are American Civil Liberties Union, Drug Policy Alliance, and NORML.

We can’t just let it pass by and leave our children with the responsibility to clean up this mess that has been going on for too long, we have to do something about it, starting today. Drug reform laws are some long roads to travel down and can scare many people, you have the information needed to help change America and the countries effected by current drug policies. We can better the lives of many people, all we have to do is take the initiative to do so.

A brief but descriptive article I have written about Marijuana (Weed, Pot, etc). This is unbiased info, there is no opinion involved, just scientific information.

If you are like I once was, you have come here in hopes of finding the truth about Marijuana. The plain, unbiased, non opinionated, scientific truth. There are common, extreme opinions on Marijuana. Either you smoke it or you don’t. Many people are convinced that it is terrible, that it will kill you. On the other extreme, people are convinced that there is absolutely nothing wrong with Marijuana, and if anything, if can actually be good for you.

I personally have not smoked Marijuana, and I likely never will. But I have absolutely no problem with friends or family smoking Marijuana, as long as I’m not around of course. This, I believe, will help you trust me that this article is 100% scientific. There is no “Don’t smoke Marijuana, It will kill your brain cells” or “Go out and smoke all the Marijuana you like, it’ll make you smarter!”. Just the simple facts. But enough about that, if you aren’t convinced now, then reading this article won’t be of any use to you.

So back to the question, is it helpful or hurtful? The truth is:

ITS BOTH!

Marijuana (Also known as Cannabis) is a plant. There are two main classifications of Cannabis use. There is Medical Marijuana, and then there is just Marijuana as an “Illegal Drug”. The tern cannabis or marijuana generally refer to the dried flowers and subtending leaves and stems of the female cannabis plant. Marijuana is a mainly a Psychoactive or Hallucinogenic drug. There are many other effects, but the main point is that Marijuana creates a “high”. This is as descriptive as we need to get on the lines of the high effect.

What is Marijuana doing?

(To your body and brain)

The effect of a Marijuana high normally lasts around 30 minutes, up to 8 hours. (It all depends on how much weed is smoked, and how pure of a substance it is.) When Marijuana is smoked, it has a number of effects on your body and brain. Usually it causes increased heart rate and cottonmouth (dry mouth). On the mental side of things, it can create a temporary increase in emotion and senses (feeling of heightened senses). Although there is some cases where Marijuana actually slows down the reaction time of the user. Marijuana tends to also have an effect of a greater enjoyment of music, comedy, and can make food or beverages taste better, which usually just makes you hungry. This is known as “the munchies”. Basically what Marijuana is doing, is blocking certain receptors of your brain, causing dopamine (released from nerves) to flow freely throughout the brain. Scientific enough? Good.

Now, you must be asking “I see what Marijuana does to you, I see what affect it has on your brain and body, but how is this a bad thing at all?!”

Well scientifically speaking, the immediate effects Marijuana has on you, are not bad at all. If anything, they are somewhat beneficial. But now we have to look at some of the negative effects Marijuana can have on your body and mind.

Again, depending on the user, there are many different effects (negative) that they can experience.

Among these effects is paranoia, anxiety attacks, and in some cases, even hallucinations. In extreme cases, there is speculation about the constant use of Cannabis leading to schizophrenia, and the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Although in these cases, Marijuana isn’t directly to blame for the cause of these diseases, it is a factor of increasing the chance of developing, or increasing the development of these diseases. In a more long-term sense, Marijuana has the effect on your ability to retain and recall memory. Speaking slower, thinking slower, all proven effects of long-term Marijuana use. Although uncommon, Marijuana CAN lead to substance dependency, which usually occurs when another issue is present, such as depression.

Okay, we know what effects it has on us, now what’s the issue?

To be honest, the issue lies within misconception and misleading information. The main issue is how children and teenagers are taught about this drug, how it is brought up. Usually when a kid is taught about Marijuana, they are told about all the negative effects it has, how it can kill you, make you stupid”" or kill your brain cells. When you are taught about it, it is compared with Mushrooms, Crystal Meth (Methamphetamine), Heroine, LSD, and so on. The truth, however, is not taught, for what reason, I have NO idea. The reason Marijuana is a gateway drug, is not because of the substance itself, but because of how it is viewed by those who try it once, or have been using, or want to try it. When the connection between Marijuana and other drugs is made, it makes Marijuana look terrible. Now when a kid tries Marijuana, and sees that it really is not that bad, and they continue using it, they can convince themselves that they were only taught lies. Their teachers and parents didn’t want them doing drugs because it just makes them feel good, all the time. Now that is the main misconception right there. “If they lied about Marijuana, then they must have lied about Meth, Heroine,” etc. That is the only reason Marijuana is considered a gateway drug. Besides the possibility of substance immunity. After a lenght of time, you require more substance to obtain the same high. Your body becomes somewhat immune, or used to the high. Then possibly, the user will continue onto hard drugs, or chemical drugs, which normally create a more intense high. That, truthfully, is why Marijuana is a gateway drug, and why so many kids are using it, and then using worse drugs. As for this segment, nothing more needs to be said.

So why is Marijuana Illegal Then?

That’s a good question. When I initially started this article, I knew the time would come when I would post this question. This website:

http://www.drugwarrant.com/articles/why-is-marijuana-illegal/

containts all the information you need about why Marijuana is illegal. Please read this source! It is 100% correct and unbiased. You will be surprised! I would try to explain it myself, but I wouldn’t be able to sum it up very well.

What will happen if it it legalized?

Although it isn’t recommended to be smoking Marijuana all the time (for health reasons, and society reasons) there will certainly be some benefits if Marijuana is legalized (perhaps with some laws).

1)The government can quit spending all OUR money on THEIR drug war.

2)The government can tax it, hey there’s another way for them to actually MAKE money off of it, instead of illegal drug dealers/smuglers making 50million dollars, the government can! Yay!

3)At this point in time, in most places, Marijuana is more easily accessed than Alcohol. I’d say that’s a decent reason enough alone to legalize it, because why not, especially if (see#2) you can make money off it.

4)Although it will make it even EASIER to access, they can put similar laws on it as they have for alcohol, even though the younger ones will still obtain it, law can still punish underagers. You can’t drink alcohol while you drive, so make it illegal to smoke Marijuana while you drive?

Outro

I don’t know guys, I could go on forever here as to why it should or shouldn’t be legalized, or what benefits, negative effects legalization will have on the world, but I’m 100% about one thing.

If kids want to get Alcohol, they will find a way to get it.

If kids want to get Marijuana, they will find a way to get it.

Giving millions and millions of people a reason to smoke Marijuana, or even try it (by legalizing it) doesn’t always sound like a decent idea. But we’re at a point in humanity where the goverment and secret organizations and defence departments and parents and teachers are worried about Marijuana, when they could be worrying about the homeless, 3rd world countries, war for oil and gas, and all sorts of other things that are deserving more attention (hey even “global warming{if you’re into that}).

That’s all for now folks, thanks for reading.

Sincerely,

RJ

I tend to have many discussion on Marijuana should it be Legalized. Why many American think that our government should legalized this drug. Some Say’s it from God’s green earth from the ground.

Some marijuana doesn’t have the effect that many crack user, and meths user have marijuana is harmless. Here is the Rest of the Story.

It is 5:00 a.m. on a cold dark Colorado morning. Twenty-five SWAT team officers, clad in black helmets, body armor, wielding assault weapons, large clear shields, and heavy iron battering rams, surround a quiet residential home, shatter the front door, and throw flash-bang grenades and tear gas inside.

The team of 25 militarized cops stream into the house, screaming obscenities, shattering the terrified children’s sleep and jarring the scared parents awake. The SWAT team then literally destroys the home and the furniture within, slashing couches, overturning bookcases, throwing possessions all over the floor, carting the crying children off to Social Services or foster care, and throwing the parents to the ground at gunpoint, handcuffing them painfully before carting them off to the police station.

The SWAT team then locates its target: a couple dozen three-foot high cannabis plants in a modest indoor basement garden, and a pound or so of dried plant matter, some lights, some fertilizer, and a few books on how to grow marijuana.

This is not an extreme example. This scene literally happens every day in America, a nation that loudly professes that it is a “free” country, but that leads the globe in per ca pita incarceration of its own people, a rate that exceeds those of human rights leaders such as North Korea, China, and Iran, due mostly to the war on drugs.

And this scene embodies America’s war on marijuana. A government this large, this powerful, this intrusive, this belligerent, is necessary to fight this modern-day prohibition against a simple herb that approximately half of the American adult population has consumed at some point in their lives. There are so many reasons this must change:

1. Money

The war on marijuana costs us money. The direct costs to local, state, and federal governments are staggering and exceed a trillion dollars. Police, prosecutors, probation officers, judges, courts, jailers, prison guards, and defense lawyers form a massive prison-industrial complex that distracts limited resources away from our failing economy and other more important priorities. The indirect costs to the economy, though more difficult to quantify, are probably higher in the form of people removed from their families and their jobs, the opportunity costs of distracted police and jammed courts too busy to adjudicate important criminal and civil cases. We also lose out on the benefits of industrial hemp, which has no recreational effect but which could be an extremely useful crop for American farmers and industry.

And all of this money has been wasted — accomplishing, like so many other heavy-handed government programs, the precise opposite result of that which was intended. Even the U.S. government’s drug czar (it is appropriate that this government position is named after an imperial Russian tyrant), Gil Kerlikowski, admits that the 40-year experiment with drug prohibition has been an abject failure.

Decades of drug prohibition has not accomplished a single of its goals. Albert Einstein’s definition of insanity is “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” As our governments at all levels pour more lawyers, guns, and money into this militarized marijuana prohibition, people still obtain it — easily — and supply and demand is totally uninterrupted on a macro scale; one dealer falls, another pops up. Under Einstein’s definition, our government is literally insane.

2. Freedom

The war on marijuana is alien to the principles of a free nation founded on the principles of limited government and personal responsibility. The negative impact of marijuana prohibition laws far outstrip the negative impact of the substance itself, which is one of the few things on Earth that has no practical lethal dose, it is basically harmless.

Humans in all cultures have used the cannabis plant since the dawn of history for medicinal, spiritual, industrial, and recreational purposes; only in the 20th century did it occur to any government to prohibit it. Thomas Jefferson and other founders grew cannabis on their plantations. The Declaration of Independence is written on hemp paper. Even Genesis 1:29 confirms that God gave man every seed-bearing plant on the Earth. God giveth, government taketh.

The history of American marijuana prohibition and “reefer madness” shows that its practical and legal basis is a house of cards. An outgrowth of alcohol prohibition which arose in roughly the same era, marijuana prohibition was born out of racially-charged fears of Mexicans and blacks.

For the American government to prohibit the cannabis plant, that government must declare war on its own principles. Such a prohibition then contributes to overall erosion in the general population’s respect for the rule of law, because the aggressive enforcement of this law touches so many people and makes the law itself — not just marijuana laws, but all laws and law enforcement officials — a joke.

The body armor-clad government stormtroopers are necessary to prosecute the war on marijuana. That level of expensive and intrusive force is necessary if cannabis, widely used and widely accepted, is to be prohibited from our private homes and lives. But perhaps the best brief against prohibition is the fact that marijuana is widely available to prisoners in America’s prisons and jails. Prisons and jails are the most tightly regulated, highly government-controlled locations in the world. If the government cannot keep marijuana outside of these places, can anyone seriously argue prohibition is enforceable in the general population?

3. Safety

The war on marijuana, like alcohol prohibition before it, creates and fuels the criminal underclass, organized crime, and domestic and foreign drug cartels. It is basic Economics 101: where there is a demand, a supply will be created to meet it, period. Human demand for marijuana, like alcohol, has lasted thousands of years, and will never go away. Leading economists like Milton Friedman have long seen the drug war as an economically-bankrupt policy.

If marijuana were legalized and taxed, violent drug cartels would lose the principal source of their income. Marijuana ought to be treated like a more dangerous substance: alcohol, available at the corner liquor store, and taxed and regulated. How many Mexican drug cartels smuggle beer over the border? Ban it, and you would see many. Create a regulated legal market for it, and the drug cartels are not involved.

4. Children

It is literally easier for American schoolchildren to obtain marijuana than beer.

That is because the government has created the black market in marijuana, making it more accessible to children. There is no black market in beer. It is relatively cheap and easy to obtain, for adults, but difficult for children. Prohibition increases childrens’ attraction to marijuana; the “forbidden fruit” is always sweeter.

For all of these reasons and many more, Americans have now passed the critical 50 percent threshold in support for legalization of marijuana. (These polls typically understate support, as many Americans are understandably reluctant to admit to using or supporting marijuana to an anonymous telephone surveyor.) Even conservative televangelist Pat Robertson recently acknowledged that marijuana ought to be legal.

It is long past time for politicians at all levels to end this bankrupt policy of Prohibition, and stop breaking down the doors of Americans who only want to possess a harmless plant in the comfort of their own homes.

Teen dies when party immitates the film, "Project X" film.

A man was killed after a rave party emulating the teen part movie “Project X” was hit with gunfire. Several partygoers fired off guns which lead to one person being killed. Authorities broke up the gigantic house party on Wednesday Morning. According to authorities, over one thousand people showed up for the party which was promised to have free drugs and alcohol. When police arrived on the scene with their pink frosted donuts, people were seen fleeing from the scene so they wouldn’t get arrested. Some people had their pants down after receiving oral sex inside of the house. It seems that many parties have been influenced by the movie, as this wasn’t the first time a party like this has happened. A similar party destroyed a $500,000 home in Miami in the past.

Should we blame the movie (Project X) or the actions of morons? I know that young people are very impressionable, but I think many parents need to give their teenagers a spanking and tell them to stop being lazy hippies and get a job. I don’t know what is so great about getting drunk. I guess when your life is rock bottom, you can just drink your worries away.

I wonder if any obese or ugly people were invited to this party? Or maybe it was a party for only beautiful people. In that case, I wish I had gotten an invitation. The only thing that would stink is getting shot. But yeah, I think Americans need to lay off the partying. They don’t know how to throw a party without pulling out guns. It’s really sad, and a lot of them don’t know how to outrun the police.

Weed... Should it be legal? Why?

Battle for Legalized Marijuana

Before I start, I just want to start out saying I do not smoke, but I do think that Weed should be legal. Weed should be legal for multiple reasons and there are hardly any reason why it should not be. In this article you are going to read about why Weed should and should not be legal. To me the Pros outweigh the minuscule cons.

Five Reasons why I think Marijuana should be legal;

1) There is very little health risk involved. ”There is very little evidence that smoking marijuana as a means of taking it represents a significant health risk”, Lester Grinspoon, MD. This means that Weed is not bad for you, he talks of how it would be better to smoke marijuana, rather than breathe in the air pollution associated in many environments (Big Cities). These cities include; San Fransisco, Las Vegas, and an many other parts of the U.S. Technically, Weed is not bad for you, coming from a doctor.

2) Another reason is that weed is actually good for the soul and for most people, changes them into a better person.

3) One big reason currently, for weed, is medicinal use. Why is it used in medicine? It is used in Medicine as a “healer”. It keeps the pain away, while being “healthier” for you than medicine. Weed, if legal, would take out most medicine on pharmaceutical counters.

4) With Weed Legal, the demand for it would be insane. Businesses would boom on the gold rush for marijuana. Many Entrepreneurs would jump on this oppurtunity to supply Weed to the public.

5) The government could make a ton of money through taxes. Although this is true, it would be cheaper than buying it off the streets.

It is silly that Marijuana is not legalized yet, sorry smokers, but when it does become legal, it will become taxed the crap out of at gas stations and other drug stores.

Main ideas for Pros=

Good for Economy

Not Bad for you

“Healthy Drug

Government+++

2 Reasons why Marijuana should not be illegal;

1) Weed is said by some, to be unhealthy? This is because some relate Marijuana directly to Cigarettes, which it is not. Ignorant people think that it is bad for you, while actually, there are benefits.

2) Some say that we would turn into Mexico’s drug dealership. No, if it was legal, the government would tax it and make a limit on it. So the possibility of turning into a Drug Dealership country is merely impossible.

Main ideas for cons=

“Unhealthy” — Wrong

Possibility of Drug Cartel
