Why is Cannabis Illegal?

Cannibis was never prohibited until the 19th century for several reasons that proclaimed and made it into an illegal drug. Some of the reasons why Marijuana is said be illegal are:

   I hadn’t smoked pot in thirteen years then I decided to do it again with friends.  I figured that as long as I was well supervised by my friends it would be all good.  Well, it wasn’t.  I became highly agitated with myself that I did that I got stoned again after not doing it for a little over a decade.  Aside from being agitated, I also had the paranoid schizophrenic thoughts just like before.  I always thought that it just isn’t for me while it is for other people.  A lot of people smoked ithj and went on with their day to day lives just fine.  They never became paranoid or schizophrenic at all.  

   I was all for the legalization of marijuana.  Not just medicinal but all.   Like packs of ganja being sold next to packs of Marlboro.  As long as the people that smoked it didn’t act like me when stoned.  Over time though, I changed my mind about that.  Upon silent observation I’ve noticed how the average pot smoker is.  They are unable to recall a conversation about something a week earlier, constantly forget stuff, and you have to start telling them the same things over and over again because they simply can not remember.  They say zero deaths are caused by marijuana and that may be true but pot sure does kill brain cells.  Some people even smoke a doobie while pregnant.  If it kills the mother’s brain cells and memory, just imagine what it does to a fetus.  Unborn babies don’t even have a chance to tell you they don’t wanna smoke a j.  You’re just making your baby have a possible life of someone that isn’t very smart and a real good chance that baby will become a pothead.  Sure, a pot baby can’t even compare to a crack baby but damn it people!  Knock it off!

  I have a lot of friends that love to party with Mary Jane and that’s fine.  I just don’t think it should ever be legalized except for cancer patients.  Kill brain cells or suffer from cancer; kill brain cells sounds way better.  That is, unless it was me.  I think I’d rather have painful cancer.  That’s how much I detest being stoned.

My question is simple: why is it illegal in the first place? It’s a tree – a plant – just like many other plants that grow naturally all over the world! I mean, the Cacao is a naturally growing plant also, and it is the prime raw material for chocolate – they didn’t make that one illegal! The Palm is the source for all kinds of products used all over the world – saw palmetto, palm oil, coconut; they didn’t make that illegal either! And then there is tobacco, allegedly killling thousands of human beings all over the world every single hour, and even after sixty-some years since the fight has begun they still haven’t been able to get the proper legislation to make that illegal!!!

MJ isn’t even addictive, you know! I smoked the darned thing for the greater part of six years – loved the “high” too – but when I quit, it was cold-turkey. Wish I could say the same for nicotine, though. Now THAT darned thing is legal all over the world, but dropping people like flies in a chemical gas chamber! Hooked to it for almost twenty years and been off of it for the most part of five… and I’m still having trouble keeping a straight face when I see someone smoking on TV, or a catch a whiff of it in a public place.

But I ain’t asking them to illegalize tobacco – absolutely not! It’s a natural product and folks can do with it what they like! In a similar way, I’m saying “pot,” “MJ,” “Mary-J,” “Mary-Jane,” or just plain marijuana ain’t supposed to be illegal either. In any case, if you make it legal, you run the Mexican and Colombian drug cartels out of business faster than you can sing “Because I Got High!”

But there is so much more to look at other than just taxing it.  How would the government regulate marijuana sales?  Would they sell it in convenience stores and liquor stores or would it be something you can buy on a shelf in Wal-Mart?  Would you go to jail for driving under the influence of marijuana and if so how would they know that you are under the influence?  Would they give you a drug test, because marijuana stays in your system for 30 days?  Would you get charged for growing your own marijuana?  Or would it be as simple as getting a permit or license to do so?

Legalization would be great for the US.  It would put many dangerous drug dealers off the streets.  People say oh you want to legalize a narcotic you are promoting drug use.  But in all reality think about it, have you ever known a person to kill someone because they smoked marijuana?  Marijuana users are generally happy people.  You don’t hear of people over dosing on marijuana.  I think that if regulated properly just like alcohol and cigarettes marijuana could really help boost our economy and lead to less people being incarcerated for smoking a completely natural plant.

So let’s set some things straight: 

1. Marijuana can be addictive like anything else in the world, just because it has psychoactive properties doesn’t mean that it is any worse than eating a potato chip.

2. It does NOT  make you dumb, I smoke everyday and I passed all my exams with a 80 or above.

3. Okay, so the potency barely has risen. About a mere 2%. Big fucking woop

4. No you CAN NOT overdose on weed! It’s literally impossible, you would have to smoke over 4 pounds in like a 30 minute time period.

5. It is not a gateway drug! It will not lead you to other things, well the marijuana itself atleast.

6. Stoners are not lazy, the blunt doesn’t pass itself.

7. If you don’t like weed then don’t fucking smoke it! We all have choices and we should be able to make them without people looking down at us.

8. Smoking weed is not a life changing fucking expierence, it’s not like you see fucking dragons and unicorns flying everywhere. You still have your mind, and it’s still intact. I don’t know why people make smoking weed sucha  big deal.
