Martin Luther king Jr. was one of the most empowering historical figures in African American History. He was a civil rights leader who strongly believed that violence was not the key to solving our problems. He chose to fight the battle against segregation with words not weapons. Today we now exist in a world living the dream in a nation where our President is black. Who would have known that one day this man’s vision could come true?

Martin Luther king Jr. was one of the most empowering historical figures in African American History. He was a civil rights leader who strongly believed that violence was not the key to solving our problems. He chose to fight the battle against segregation with words not weapons. All because of his famous “I Have A Dream” speech African Americans were liberated and felt it possible to dream of making a better future for themselves.

Without visionaries such as this man, where would we be; If no one showed the integrity and bravery to step up and make a change how could a nation survive? In life everyone needs an example or role model as to how things should be done. I admire him and have the utmost respect for his decision to make change. Within his time he has made some decisions and done some things that no one would ever dare to do.

Dr. King was a man of action, but in the course of his actions along with his bravery came heavy risks: such as his family, protesters and personally himself. It takes a- -lot of guts to stand up for what you believe in, but at that time to be a person of color it took even more. Men and women were hosed down in the middle of streets like dogs, each opposing race was told they couldn’t even share the same fountain, and could front entrance of a restaurant? I can’t and neither do I want to; but these are all the reasons Dr. King believed so much in ending the struggle of segregation, and for a good cause it was.

Martin Luther Kings dedication to his cause has even put his personal life at risk. His family was constantly in jeopardy of being harmed on a daily basis. There were times when crosses were burned in front of his home as a resemblance of prejudice hatred against his cause. It almost makes me wonder how could someone hate such a positive thing so much. I guess it can also be true that sometimes people can fear a new thing, when maybe what they truly feared could have been their loss of power and feeling of importance.

Finally the long period of boycotts, marches and speeches ended with the downfall of his assassination. At that moment in time it was considered a tragedy but the outcome of his journey is a beautiful thing; because although they tried to kill a dream the dream still lives on.

Today we now exist in a world living the dream in a nation where our President is black. Who would have known that one day this man’s vision could come true? Martin Luther King Jr. gave us hope for a better tomorrow and today his vision still lives on. His words empowered us then and still inspire us now. His vision has and will still continue to be an unforgettable legacy within history. “ If you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything.”

Perhaps displacement isn't such a bad thing after all.

Displacement is a common thread throughout human history. Interestingly, we often attach a negative connotation to it, though by definition, to displace is simply “to remove from the usual or proper place” (Merriam-Webster, 2011). In fact, a second definition offered is to expel or force to flee from a homeland. Were it not for displacement, humanity would have never expanded across the globe, and civilization as we know it would not exist. The Pilgrims settling in Plymouth were most certainly displaced, but this displacement was anything but bad. Frequently, geographical displacement is essential for an individual, a family, or even an entire community. In the immediate time surrounding such displacement, it may appear negative, but ultimately, the effects are almost always positive, at the least enlightening the individual(s) of culture beyond that which they are used to. However, social displacement does not always have such positive effects, and for this reason tends to be more striking in a person’s mind when they think of displacement. Thus, here I am going to write of social displacement, which I personally am rather well acquainted with.

Social displacement as well has played a major role in world history. Suppose that Martin Luther had felt perfectly comfortable within the Catholic Church of his time and not decided to lead a separate movement based on faith alone. One of the defining moments in world history would not have occurred. Or what if Gandhi had been just fine with conforming to the typical method of violent revolution? When it comes down to it, the best stories in both history and literature, now expressed in movies as well, are stories of individuals who are displaced, but who choose to do something about it. Displacement on its own is nothing more than someone or something out of its ordinary place. But when someone is motivated by their displacement to do something, those are the stories which are worth telling. Personally, I admit to being a young idealist who sometimes dreams of one day having stories told of me. Personally, I feel out of place in the very modern society which I live in, and the reality is that I feel out of place rather often. Whether at a birthday party where most of the other people there are drunk or high out of their minds, or walking down a dark street in a shady area of downtown Nashville, or even instances so simple as being in a group of guys making crude jokes about women, I realize that there are few times in which I actually feel in place. Instead, I’ve simply grown accustomed to being out of place, and accepted it as a fact of life, and have learned how to handle it and maintain the calmest optimistic view on life that I can. Quite often I realize that I’m somewhat like an actor, able to wear different personas in the presence of different social situations, but yet it never fails that said persona will fade, and then it just creates more awkwardness when I attempt to be myself after putting on a failed attempt at an act.

But despite these personal failings at self-expression which I am quite aware of, I fit a psychology which is no longer the social norm. A hopeless romantic, an idealist, a Christian who clings to his faith that sacrificial love is the best way to change the world, someone who believes that chivalry still exists, someone who believes in sex within the commitment and sanctity of marriage only, someone who believes in justice, freedom, faith, hope, love, commitment, dedication: this is me. In today’s culture, that may be enough to classify me as insane according to some people. In a culture where one of the leading shows on cable television centers around a group of young men and women whose lives center around clubbing, sex, and apparently unnecessary drama for the sake of raising their ratings, I’m somewhat out of place. When 9 out of 10 Americans have sex before marriage, when drug use is at its highest levels in human history, when our country is first in the world for drug use, divorce, teenage pregnancy, and violent crime, when the top problems among schools in the 1940’s and 50’s were chewing gum and talking but in the 90’s were rape and murder, I’d say I feel displaced within our current society. However, being used to displacement, I’m not particularly bothered by it. Rather, I prefer to embrace it, as who wants to be normal anyway? Culture today is shaped in large part by the media, which influences millions as to what’s currently fashionable, what’s acceptable and what’s not, what news deserves attention and what doesn’t. But yet I seek to have a career in media- why? Compared to the majority of society, the consumers who follow culture, there is a very small minority who is actually responsible for creating culture. Perhaps, just perhaps, I may have the ability to institute some form of change in our culture by creating media which actually serves to inspire people for good, or just by making decent movies. And this is how I seek to create change. Now, it is a highly unrealistic goal. This is true. Reality is that such a dream is unlikely. However, reality is also that displacement is one of the most powerful motivators in human psychology that exists. It makes one want to create change. When a person is displaced often, he will inevitably find a way to use that, or simply grow bitter and depressed. But where’s the point in that? Utilizing my lack of place within modern culture to fuel my dreams, displacement loses its negative connotations in my mind but rather exists simply as part of who I am, which exists as the foundation for who I will be.

And who I will be is someone who will likely still be out of place compared to societal norms, but someone with the ability to inspire hope in and provide help for thousands or millions, someone who can make a difference in this world. Society says that you’re just one of a million, mostly insignificant, so you should just admire and buy the products of those individuals who have managed to become famous. But I say that you’re one in a million, and if you’re out of place within that entire million, then all the more reason you can separate yourself and influence change in the million. Whereas if you were in place, then you would just accept being part of that million. I say that displacement can be the drive which powers a person to new heights, especially when it separates you from your surrounding culture. I say that being displaced may actually be one of the best things that can happen to someone.

It doesn't matter,if you are red yellow, brown, black,or white.

What is the big news of the day?The economy is slowly easing its way down the tubes. It’s all over the news. The media is bringing it out daily, about how we our economy is slowly waning away. This is a sad ,but true fact. But,do you know what the saddest part is? We are just sitting back on our healthy American backsides, and letting it happen. But,there is nothing we can do ,you say. That is here I believe we are all wrong. There are many things we can do to help pull us through this slump.

For one,buy locally, keep your money in your own town. Shop in your own city.Keep your money at home. In most cities,of any size, there are enough stores in that city to take care of all your needs.Keep your own retailers in business, they are the backbone of your city. As a general rule, shopping in another city, the difference is usually made up in fuel costs.

Here is something ,very unusual, but some of the Mexican Americans I worked with in the past do a little thing they call a round. A round is a number of people on a list held with them, generally,by one of the older members. On this list is the name of several people giving cash to this list. Each week, one of the people on that list receive all the cash gathered from the participants. If there are 25 people giving 20 dollars, then the week that persons name comes up,they receive the 500 dollars.

One of my favorite lines in history, came from a fellow Aquarian,Mr. Martin Luther King. The words “I have a dream “,rang true for the African Americans of that day,all the way forward.I,too ,have a dream, a dream of unity. My dream goes much farther than race ,religion, age, political back ground. It is time ,we as the American people, grew a backbone, and started taking care of our country.By taking care of one another,we,inadvertently take care of our country.

It is time we get creative, and figure out ways to help our economy, quit bitching, and do something. We are so full of excuses,we can’t do that. We use more negative vocabulary, than positive. We are a negative society. That tells me we we are in trouble. I was always told as a child;”Can’t never could do nothin”.This is bad grammar, but it is very true.

I tell people I was given a message, several years ago,how we can actually do something for ourselves. This is the message; If I ask you for a dollar, would you give it to me?Most of my friends and acquaintances, say yes. The I ask them how they would like to help our city,.Naturally, they are very agreeable to this. In our city, there are 55000 people,if we could somehow collect a dollar for every person in our city ,that would be 55000 dollars. Most folks are alright with giving one dollar to you,but multiply that dollar by a much higher multiple, such as the population of a city, the trust goes out the window. Most don’t worry about a dollar, but give that dollar a high multiple, and their concern is trusting the firm or person handling the money.

Isn’t this sad? We can’t trust one another enough to contribute one hard working American dollar,to benefit our nation, out of mistrust for one another. So,what is the point of this essay?Until we learn to trust one another,or find someone we can trust, our Great American society,as we know it ,will eventually become ,just another third world country. The sad truth is,we have gone from being the land of opportunity,to being opportunists, taking advantage of others, for personal gain. The Golden Rule was not bent, but broken.Do unto others,as you would have them do unto you ,is not the call. Now,it is do it to others, before they do it to you. It’s up to us to change, politicians are not the only ones responsible here. Think about it.

Martin Luther King, Jr., was born Michael Luther King Jr on January 15, 1929 and later changed his name to Martin. His grandfather and father were former pastors of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. Martin was co-pastor of the same church until his death.

Martin Luther graduated from high school at fifteen, and received his B.A degree in 1948 from Morehouse College, a black institution in Atlanta where his father and grandfather had been graduates.

Martin attended the Crozer Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania for three years, and was elected president of a predominantly white senior class, and was awarded the B.D., in 1951.

He won a fellowship at Crozer, and enrolled at the Boston University in graduate studies and completed his doctorate degree in 1955.

While in Boston he married Coretta Scott who had great intellectual and artistic abilities, they had two sons and two daughters.

Martin Luther King became pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery in 1954, he was already a civil rights worker and a member of NAACP.

Martin became the leader of a black nonviolent demonstration in the United States, a boycott that lasted 382 days.

On December 21, 1956 the Supreme Court declared the segregation laws on buses unconstitutional, a major milestone had been reached, and Blacks and Whites rode the buses as equals.

During the boycott King’s house had been bombed, and he was often subjected to personal abuse, but simultaneously he became known as a first ranked Black leader.

In 1957 King became president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the SCLC , an organization under his leadership of the civil rights movement. The ideals of SCLC he took from Christianity, and operated its techniques from Gandhi.

Between 1957 and 1968, King travelled over 6,000,000 miles and spoke over 2500 times. He spoke wherever injustice, protest and action occurred, he also wrote five books and several articles.

He led a massive protest in Birmingham, Alabama that the whole world heard about, where his famous “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” a manifesto of the Black revolution was sent.

He planned the Alabama drives for the Black registration as voters and directed the peaceful March on Washington, DC, with 250,000 people who heard him deliver his “I Have A Dream” speech. He conferred with President John F. Kennedy and campaigned for President Lyndon B. Johnson. He was arrested 20 times and assaulted four times. He received five honorary degrees and in 1963 was named Man of the Year by Time magazine. He became a symbolic leader of American blacks and a world figure.

Martin Luther King Jr., at age 35 became the youngest man to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. He turned over the prize money of $54, 123 to further the civil rights movement.

On April 4, 1968 he stood on the balcony of his motel room in Memphis, Tennesee where he would have led a protest march in sympathy with striking garbage workers and was assassinated.

Image via Wikipedia

If, you never knew or read about the youth, of Martin Luther, King than the odds are highly great that this trail blazer came, from a middle class African American back ground. Being the son, of a respected pastor, of Atlanta, Ga. Who decision to follow in the ministry probably more based on his father being in the ministry?

Like most children the trade your parents did in life sometimes dictates yours too. What accomplishment Martin Luther, King did, as a ministers wasn’t always supported? I’m sure his decision to go to one, of the most racist part, of the United States to preach was protested, by his father. Why not? When he could like ministers today stay within his father church and became an associate pastor.

So, when he was selected Dexter Avenue Baptist Church minister many probably was shocked and surprised. nd that could include his late spouse too. But, we know that within years after that selection the things he challenge if not conquer bought im and the state, of Alabama national attention.

But, similar to today. There was blacks that didn’t always support him taking on segregation. There attitudes was, of comfortable or this “Don’t Rock The Boat” mentality. As, long as we are god blacks not causing problems we can deal with the little racism they creating around us. What’s so amazing is the fact that King’s was getting these comments, from successful black Americans? Some that was within the ministry.

But sometimes it takes a shocker to get the message before others. Jesus death was the shocker to make people acknowledge the stupidity, of people. People, who will fight against common sense to stay enslaved to a system that control them.

And notice in these two individuals that it was the people that judged them harshly for doing right. Now, in Martin Luther, King journey against the system, of his time he placed his life above others like Jesus to get something done. Sure, it hadn’t changed completely, as of yet. But good things takes time to develop.

We know when Christ died there was supporters similar to when Martin Luther, King died. But, my message is in the death, of these two men. We don’t have challengers in modern society against crime they feel is hurting our community. We have talkers about wealth in churches today. Many call them prosperity ministers that loves to pin point their success, by discussing ways to get rich. Get rich?

While there always a picture, of injustice in the world. Then none, of us are truly rich. We might be truly blessed. But never truly rich.

We hear about gangs, and no names are needed because that would high light the gangs reputation. But realize that the church that loves to hype that this is the place to come for sorrow in your time, of need. That we have big suits talkers but no big suits fighters in the ministry. Gangs intimidate society communities daily.

So, wouldn’t a minister go out and fight these gangs, as a group or similar to Christ and King with ust a few soldiers, of justice. If a gang or gang member should harm the minister can you just imagine the power the churches would have if the join together and marched on gangs.

We have pastors that seeks acceptance, from his people. Sometimes, within God’s world. It’s better to be despised than to be loved. Ministers needs to attack the feelings, of their congregation in similar ways Martin Luther, King Jr. did racism. And that means constantly speaking about it. What church stands perfect?

What church probably don’t have a gang member seated within the pew? By driving the message before people repetitiously then you’re hitting a nerve. It’s that NERVE that makes people move. Even Jesus gang, the disciples needed a challenge to move, by Christ when he requested them to go and follow him.

Members sermonized about gangs and hide in fear. Many times, you see the victim’s family challenging the weak will gang members compared to the church that preaches in time, ot trouble times turn to the Lord. So, essentially pastors hear that sudden message, from the lord, at certain times speaking to them during church services.

But, have never been told that sometimes you must challenge those that hurts your communities. I’m sure many weak minded ministers don’t fight gangs because of fearful harm to your family. And that’s understandable. But notice the Messiah had brothers and a mothers during his time on earth. We very aware that Martin Luther, King Jr. had a spouse and children’s during his march on problems in the world.

Ministers and churches has the power to stop violence of gangs. And, probably doesn’t even know it. Fear keep people, from accepting certain things in society.

Throughout the early 1500’s in Europe, the Church had been viewed as corrupted by a man named Martin Luther. At the time the church was selling indulgences, or pardons for sins, which infuriated Luther which led him to revolt. Assessing the impact that Martin Luther had on improving Europe’s lives there are three main factors. The first factor being that Martin Luther maintained the order in the church by keeping their practices religiously correct. The second was how he gave hope and unity to the Europeans and their everyday lives. Lastly Martin started the Lutheranism branch of the church which that further brought the community together by forming people with the same beliefs in one religion. Martin Luther had improved the lives of Europeans by bringing them together and giving them hope.

In 1517 the church of Europe was in need for money however their solution did not go with the teachings of the church. They were selling indulgences which were where you could pay for forgiveness of your sins. Martin Luther was very angered by this so he made a move on it. Martin Luther wrote 95 complaints against the Church’s teachings and nailed them to the door of the Church. Luther was keeping order in the in Church which improved the lives of the Europeans because he saved some of them from the harsh rules of the pope. Martin Luther himself said, “Christ, not the pope, was the head of the Church.”( Somervill, Barbara. 60) Saying this started a rivalry with the pope even though it was true.

This revolution Martin Luther started brought along a group of followers in his favors named lutherans. Most of which were his two hundred university debaters. The Lutherans who followed went against the pope’s actions to have the proper teachings of God. Robert Kolb says, “Second, over the years Luther functioned as a prophetic teacher whose exposition of the biblical message supported and guided the biblical exposition of his followers.” (Robert Kolb 268) He guided his followers, teaching them the correct ways of God which brought them joy in the end. With this revolution Martin Luther started some of the Europeans were now able to practice their beliefs without being punished by the Pope. Kolb also states about how his teachings influenced the Europeans lives, “Like no other historical figure that of Luther always compels anew a comprehensive reflection on the religious, spiritual, and political problems of our lives.” (Robert Kolb, 269).

The last way that Martin Luther improved the lives of the Europeans was by creating a new religion known as Lutheranism. Lutheranism was all of Luther’s followers, not just his students. This religion improved their statuses because of the hope and pride it gave them in being able to worship without being halted by the pope. Martin Brecht commented on their feelings of pride saying, “Luther’s religious alternative was also attractive to those whose feeling of national pride in the semi-autonomous German states made them resent pronouncements from Rome.”(Martin Brecht, 371). This pride gave the Europeans another thing to live for and something to devote themselves to making Lutheranism a very integral part of their lives.

Martin Luther improved the lives of many Europeans by introducing Lutheranism. Lutheranism brought a sense of unity and pride in being a community formed against Pope Leo. In the process of forming the religion Martin Luther kept order in the church which made many people happy because it saved them money and from death. He also taught about God the way it was meant to be taught which brought them peace and serenity among the people. Martin Luther’s impact on the church was very great.

A Review of The Martin Luther King Story.

            Dylan Clark

I watched the Martin Luther King Story. I rented it from Hollywood video and watched it at 11post meridian(pm) on Sunday, May 3, 2009. I picked this program because o have always been interested in human and civil rights. Also because you have that poster I that I see everyday about the I have a dream speech.

It all started on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the son of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Sr. and Alberta Williams King. Martin Luther King, Jr., was originally named “Michael King, Jr.”, until the family traveled to Europe in 1934 and visited Germany. His father soon changed both of their names to Martin in honor of the protestant leader Martin Luther. This is coincidental because martin Luther king jr. would also become a leader. He skipped 9th and 12th grade and never really graduated high school.

On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her seat. This led to the Montgomery bus boycott where no black person would ride the buses in Montgomery. The boycott lasted for 385 days until, on November 13, 1956, the Supreme Court upheld the district court’s ruling and made it legal for black people to sit anywhere on the bus. This was a big victory for Martin Luther King and gave him the recognition he deserved as a leader.

I Have a Dream is one of the most powerful and influential speeches of all time. King’s delivery of the speech on August 28, 1963, from the Lincoln memorial during the march on Washington was the defining moment of the American civil Rights movement. It was deliverer to many people of and inspired the nation to join in the civil rights movement. After the speech Mhalia Jackson yelled out “ tell them your dream martin” and that is how the speech got its name.

In 1968, King and the southern Christian leadership conference (SCLC) organized the poor people’s campaign to address issues of economic justice. The campaign let to a worker’s strike and a march in Washington, D.C. demanding economic aid to the poorest communities of the United States. King was criticized by many because this demand seemed to broad and to difficult to deal with. In May 1968, the Poor People’s Campaign launched their demonstration on Washington, D.C. where 50,000 people created a poor town called Resurrection City. Poor African Americans, Native Americans, and Hispanics slept ate and demonstrated in the capital.

On March 29, 1968, King went to Memphis, Tennessee in support of the black sanitary public works employees. King was booked in room 306 at the Lorraine Motel with Ralph Albertnaty. King was shot at 6:01 p.m. April 4, 1968 while he was standing on the motel’s second floor balcony. The bullet entered through his right cheek smashing his jaw and then traveled down his spinal cord before lodging in his shoulder somehow. King was pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s Hospital at an hour and 4 minutes later.

My favorite part was when they talked about the children marching in Birmingham. They were sprayed with fire hoses and bitten by dogs but they still kept hope. During this part I cried, I mean tears were coming out of my eyes at a rapid rate. There were more then 3,000 kids in jail and they all wanted to go to jail. Eventually the jails were full and the kids won.

This connects to the Community and Service Area of interaction. Martin Luther King Jr. led many protesters and gave them importance to the since of community. He made an emphasis on developing community awareness and concern, and the skills needed to make an effective contribution to society like non-violence.

When one observes the American society from a detached mindset, one is surprised at how predictive it is. It is almost like people are programmed to think and act in a particular way.

One may argue that this is true to all societies, but this writer’s observation is that in the USA, it seems almost robotic. The same things seem to repeat themselves and instead of dealing with the root cause of the problem, issues are glossed over by utilizing profiles, prejudices and judgments and coming to an expected conclusion.

Emotions are hyped with patriotic sentiments used to make anyone who refuses to conform seem disloyal. A case in point is the reaction to the much publicized shooting in Tucson, Arizona of a senator and others which left six people dead one of which was a Nine year old girl and a judge. The purported shock of the nation was surprising considering that this seems to be a daily occurrence in the USA.

One wonders whether the reaction that was witnessed was caused by the fact that there was a senator involved. On the same day that the Tucson shooting happened, there were local reports of two teenagers who had been shot in Los Angeles, California. This was not national news because it happens everyday. Yet when the Arizona shooting happened there was a media reaction which hyped people’s emotions to start the blame game.

Previous inflammatory remarks by politicians were being blamed for the shooting without even trying to understand the motivation behind the shooting. The democrats blamed the Republicans while the Republicans blamed the Democrats. The irony of this tragedy is that the nine year old girl that died was born on 9/11 a day that reminds Americans of violence against her. Was it perhaps something that people needed to reflect on and find meaning?

It is always someone else fault in America when things go wrong. The unemployment according to most Americans has been caused by illegal immigrants. Immigrants are the cause of moral decay in America. Sometimes it is the fault of one race pitied against another. One could go on but suffice it to say, that it is never anything that Americans have done wrong to cause bad things to happen.

When people react to situations, they always shift the responsibility to the other person or thing. They assume the role of a victim and blame everyone else than themselves for the problem. They are carried away by strong feelings like anger, fear, hatred and even grief. This is exactly what happened in Tucson after the shooting.

Even the photo of the man who did the shooting that the media was using was aimed at communicating something. This photo made the man look like a monster which is really sad considering that this man had mental heath issues that no one close to him bothered to address.

Available information shows that the young man had exhibited symptoms of mental illness that was bad enough to cause him to be suspended from a college. Someone close to him should have had him committed to hospital for treatment or at least ensured he was getting the necessary treatment that he so badly needed.

Now that he had acted according to his condition society did not want to admit that it had erred in how it dealt with him as a person. Instead it was reacting according to was expedient. As Victor Hugo so aptly said, ”where there is darkness crimes will be committed”.

People should ask themselves what darkness holds the American society that things like this continue unchecked. How is it possible for a twenty two year old man with a mental condition to access ammunition so easily? It is Martin Luther King JR. who so eloquently said that the guilty ones are not necessarily the ones that commit the crimes, but the one who cause such darkness.

When people respond instead of reacting, they take responsibility for their role in the situation that they find themselves in. They are in tuned with their feelings, thoughts, words and behavior. They are conscious of the bigger picture unlike when people react. Instead of pointing fingers after the fact, people ought to start taking responsibility for their part in allowing such incidences to happen.

Guns in America are treated as toys and are so easily available to anyone. For example, on Tuesday 1/18/2010, a seventeen old high school student in Los Angeles, California sneaked in an automatic gun hidden in his backpack to school. It is not clear as of yet why the boy found it necessary to carry a gun to school. Suffice it to say, that when the boy put the back pack down, the gun fired critically hitting two fifteen year old students.

As is common reaction followed with people blaming the parents, the community around him, and the school. The boy is facing a charge of assault with a deadly weapon even though he never intended to hurt the victims. Students interviewed said that the boy apologised immediately to the other students and to the teacher after it happened and gave himself without resistant to the police.

Yes, the boy deserves to suffer the consequences for his action of bringing a gun to school. However there is need for people to ask themselves what darkness has created a situation that school children find it necessary to carry guns to schools. How is that it is so easy to get guns that even a school child can have one?

When people start responding to the real issues instead of waiting for tragedies to happen and then react in anger and with self righteous indignation, only then will the vicious circle of events that keep on happening cease or ease.

Image via Wikipedia

As, a king goes about ruling his country or even, a queen we all know that without people. You all alone and ruling no one, at all. As many egotistical dictators goes about eradicating their enemies, from being a problem that just like the king and queen, without people they just someone with a title. And, a legacy that will be judged, by how they treat their people.

We read many books about Martin Luther, King Jr concerning his life and other events that he contributed to society, as he challenged the segregated south during his pastoring days, in Alabama. But, without the thunder, of the people willing to be the thunder for the cause. It’s more likely that Martin Luther King would have been the lightning. without the rod. And, that thunder was the people roaring behind his message to accept the challenge to take on the racist society that existed , at that time. Not, that it’s still not around because similar to the hate groups that was back in those days.

They hide behind new titles and names, while continuing to act the same way. Sure, the know before Rosa Park stood her ground against relieving her seat that there was others, before her that could have challenge the system, of injustice. But, through circumstances Mrs. Rosa Park was the thunder needed to light a rod into the people, of Alabama minorities to challenge the Jim Crow’s law that many whites profit from, at that time.

Many ministers, and organizers was vital to the Civil Right causes that came, after Mrs. Park ground breaking challenge to the power that been in government. Martin Luther King Jr, was the guiding voice leading the people. As, with many ground breaking challenges you’ll always need a face before the crowd.

A symbol that others will instantly appointed recognize as leader, of the group. Jesus, was that face to lead the disciples to challenge them to go out and preach to the people. While God word was his inspiration to carry it through.

In many ways, It took a woman to accomplish setting the storm a boiling because , of the respect giving to a woman in society. I’m highly sure, if a man was in the place, of Rosa Park refusing to give up his seat things would have been totally different. So, without many women in society many things probably wouldn’t have gotten done at all.

The emotional side, of a female usually gets their point across. Even, if they wasn’t trying to be the lightning force. The male perspective to end the problem without trying to work through an agreement to solve the problem. But injustice usually is the reason that a woman touch is vital to many things needed in society.

Similar to when we a child and cry. Our instinct rather we understand it or not direct us to go to our mother. The voice, of reason to us, at that time and beyond that time. So, without many people like Rosa Parks standing up for herself it’s very likely that Martin Luther King Jr. would have to find another cause to lead , at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church. Which was blessed, by this minister for accepting the senior position, of the church.

A good minister grows, from heading a church that need a vision. If, he had stayed, and work, at his father church he would forever be like many pastors just a foot note in the history, of the church leadership. God guide us into territory we probably was truly afraid to go but he understands the reasons for his plans.

God’s not only good to us. God is great to us beyond measures we could never understand. But, if we did try to understand then we would be lost trying to find directions. Our path is to follow until we can acknowledge that many people is needed to make a country great.

Some just do the pushing while others do the pulling.
