LeBron James and savannah Brinson are engaged.

LeBron James and long time girlfriend are finally engaged. He certainly surprised everyone when he got down on one knee and proposed to his high school sweetheart as friends and family looked on.

And of course, she said yes or why else would i write this article, right.

“It was beautiful,” Heat teammate Chris Bosh said. “It was nice. It was real nice.”

The news was confirmed by other Miami Heat teamates. It was definitely a night he wont soon forget.

At a Penn State pep rally Sunday outside the Cotton Bowl, acting Athletic Director David Joynercut off a reporter’s question about the reports and said, “No, don’t believe anything you read in the newspapers. I was taught that long time ago.”

He answered “No,” when asked if anyone could be classified as a leading candidate.

Meantime, sophomore Rob Bolden will start at quarterback for Penn State Monday in theTicketCity Bowl. Penn State interim Coach Tom Bradley on Sunday officially ruled out startingquarterback Matt McGloin for the bowl game against Houston after McGloin did not pass concussion tests needed to clear him for action. Bradley suffered a concussion and seizure Dec. 17 after a locker room scuffle with receiver Curtis Drake. Walk-on Shane McGregor will serve as Bolden’s backup.

Fernando Verdasco and Anabel Medina Garrigues beat Lleyton Hewitt and Jarmila Gajdosovain a mixed-doubles third-set tiebreaker to give Spain a 2-1 victory over Australia in the Hopman Cup at Perth, Australia.

Earlier, Gajdosova beat Medina Garrigues, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, to give Australia a 1-0 lead on the indoor hard courts at the Burswood Dome.

Lebron James is a 2 time MVP, 7 time All Star and one of the best players in the NBA. This summer in free agency a lot of people think that he made the biggest mistake in his career so far by leaving Cleveland and signing with Miami. The thing that Cleveland Cavilers fans did not like was that Lebron embarrassed them in ESPN by making hes decision live saying that he was going to take his talent so South Beach and play with the Miami Heat. He teamed up with Dwayne Wadeand Chris Bosh to try to win championships. Lebron figured that playing with the Heat will make him a champion. He failed to win in Cleveland for 7 years and now he quited on them. Even Micheal Jordan had something to say about Lebron’s decision. Jordan said, ” I wouldn’t call Bird and Magic and tell them, hey lets play in the same team. I didn’twant to play with them, I wanted to beat them.” People think Lebron is a championship chaser, quitter, cheater, and a bad guy. It wasn’t the people’s decision, it was Lebron’s decision to sign were ever he wanted. We will find out soon if signing with the Heat was a smart choice.

Hello all,

I hope everyone is doing well. Alright, let’s get to it. I am starting something here that I am hopeful will catch on slowly, but surely. Not so much a huge success (although that would be nice), but more a useful perspective on a variety of issues and topics. This is to be something to contemplate, to open a discussion about, to consider, to perhaps teach, or to even potentially help. As the title indicates, I am not an expert, sage, or prophet. I have a good education, but more life experience. I consider myself lucky, truly fortunate, and deeply blessed. I am a family man, married with kids, parents, siblings, in-laws, nephews, god children, and a dog. I thread the line between traditional and open minded. I am both one person’s trash and another person’s treasure – and on and on, and so it goes.

There are a lot of issues and a lot of topics going on out there. There is a lot to be concerned with. Everything from the economy to education, from politics to pop culture, from sports to society, from religion to race, and on and on, and so it goes. What I plan to do here is to pick a topic – any topic, really – and give my point of view, my layman’s point of view. I do not plan to get too deep, or too sanctimonious, although I will jump on a soap-box from time to time. I am not looking to convert the non-believer, but agreement’s not a bad thing. I plan to post my layman’s point of view, and then open the forum for discussion. I intend for this to be a place where opinions can be voiced and voices can be heard. I want this to be a collective of our own thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. I encourage feedback. I seek response. I am curious as to your own points of views. So there it is.

Some of the issues that I will be discussing initially include the extension of unemployment benefits – a good thing or a bad thing. The signing of Lebron James to the Miami Heat – a surefire win for the championship, or a bust due to egos and overhype. Teens – the emerging of a better generation, or a tumble into the age of entitlement. The economy – getting better, or worse (simple question). Women – stronger now, or not so much. Men – stronger now, or not so much (yeah, it cuts both ways). President Obama – how he’s doing, or not doing. Aging, parenthood, careers, money, relationships, and on and on, and so it goes.

So, be on the lookout for the articles to start appearing. Some you’ll like, some you won’t. But in the end, you’ll have an opinion, a perspective, a point of view. And that what it’s all about. More to come.

So the Miami Heat land Wade, James, and Bosch! Was this a good move for James though? I say "No way"! LeBron made a huge mistake going to Miami in my estimation and here is why ............

First off there is no denying that the trio of James, Wade, and Bosch is pretty awesome. But last I checked trio’s don’t win NBA Championships!

Oh I know there are people that will spout off Allen, Peirce, and Garnett or McHale, Bird, and Parrish. How about Worthy, Johnson, and Jabbar you say? Heck what about Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman?

The fact is all of the great teams of the past had more than just the superstars. Yes we and the sports media have selective memories and like to re-write history but the cold harsh reality is that no team wins with a few stars and a bunch of fill ins. Never happened and never will.

Jordan for example is credited with winning with a garbage team in 1992 and that simply is not true. For one Scotty Pippen was voted as one of the Top 50 NBA players of all time. And before Rodman Jordan had Horace Grant, Bill Cartwright, a solid Scott Williams, B J Armstrong, and great defenders like Stacy King, and a sniper in John Paxson.

The fact is the Miami Heat of nobody after Wade, James, and Bosch. No literally they have nobody as of July 9, 2010. So with the remaining cash they have under the cap, which is minimal, they need to sign a roster of role players. Which having role players is fine and dandy, as we illustrated above. But what are you going to get for nothing?

Your best hope is that some quality veterans will come there for nothing just to win. But how many of them are available? Allen Iverson? Would they want him? Doubtful.

So the old cliche “be careful what you wish for” is looking like it is going to bite Pat Reilly, the Miami Heat, Dwayne Wade, and LeBron James in the butt!

And one other thing. LeBron just declared himself a failure in my book. What made Jordan so amazing was he was the catalyst of taking an irrelevant franchise in Chicago and making it relevant. James had that chance in Cleveland and failed to deliver. He should have never left until he won at least 1 Title. Simple as that.

Now he will always be a quitter and a coward as far as I am concerned. Dan Gilbert, the Cav’s owner is right on with his stinging remarks. He called James the self proclaimed King and a traitor. While I don’t agree with the whole he owed his hometown philosophy, he did quit on the franchise he was supposed to save!

Hey LeBron you were in the Finals and had a solid team to win with and you failed. So while it is not your fault that Antawn Jameson and an old Shaq were jokes of signings, you could have hung in there to see what other players could have been added to your already good team.

Frankly, while it is not impossible that the Heat get a respectable roster together, I doubt they will. And 3 Superstars and a bunch of goofballs isn’t going to win anything, ever!

Hey even when asked about his new Super-team, LeBron was quick to remind Michael Wilbon that the Heat weren’t even a team yet, let alone a team to be reckoned with.

Image via Wikipedia

I will give LeBron one thing. Quitter or no quitter, he did not allow money to be his only factor. I applaud that. I also admit I was totally off on this. I thought there was no way he would leave Cleveland with all the factors considered.

Miami Heat forward Michael Beasley has reportedly checked into a rehab clinic after apparently suffering a private breakdown in public on Twitter on Aug.24.

Miami Heat forward Michael Beasley, according to a report from Yahoo Sports, has checked into a rehab clinic at the urging of the NBA team.

Beasley apparently suffered a breakdown Friday when he made some disturbing comments on Twitter, which included:

“Y do I feel like the whole world is against me…I can’t win for losin.”

“Feelin like it’s not worth livin!!!!!!! I’m done.”

Beasley also posted a photo (left) on the Twitter account that sparked much debate afterwards, and it is speculated that his meltdown followed controversy over the photo. Beasley was apparently intending to display the tattoos on his back, but once the picture was posted, speculation was abundant that one of the plastic bags in the photo’s background contained marijuana.

The Twitter account linked to Beasley’s name was reportedly taken down on the Saturday after having been posted.

The speculation is buttressed by an incident that occurred at the NBA’s rookie transition rookie camp in 2008. Police responded to a fire alarm that went off in the room of rookies Mario Chalmers and Darrell Arthur. Although there were reports of the strong burning smell in the room of marijuana, none was actually found. Chalmers and Arthur were excused from the camp and Beasley, who was also present, was later fined $50,000 by the NBA for his involvement.

There was also controversy during the 2009 season, when Beasley and Chalmers were reportedly repeatedly fined for their conduct.

Beasley had been a star collegiate player at Kansas State who left college after one year to enter the NBA.
