UC Personal Statement Prompt #1

Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.

Loud rustling breaks the peace of the night. As I open my sleep-deprived eyes, I can barely make out a shadow hunched by my closet. I slowly realize it is my mom, and then look at my clock. It is 4 A.M. “Mom, what are you doing?” I crankily inquire. “Sorry, go back to sleep, you have school today,” she hastily replies in Chinese. She quickly finds her work clothes and leaves, quietly shutting the door behind her. I lie in the pitch-black, attempting to fall back into a peaceful slumber.

My alarm rudely awakens two hours later. I grudgingly make my way to the bathroom, to prepare for another day. My dad takes my brother and me to school then hurriedly leaves to his job as a hotel repairman. After school, he takes us home. With barely five minutes to rest, he changes his clothes and rushes out the door to his second job. We exchange short goodbyes as he hurries to his second job at the hospital.

I hear the familiar slam of my mom’s car door. She walks in and plasters a smile onto her face even though I can clearly see the exhaustion hidden in her eyes. Even though she just finished her 14-hour workday as an assembler at Balboa Instruments, she immediately starts to cook dinner and clean the house. Afterwards, she goes to take a shower, the only time she has to rest.

At 11, my dad comes home. His keys jingle as he fumbles in the dark, attempting to open the door. I often see him ravenously gobbling his dinner. Later, he is usually slumped in a kitchen chair, his eyes half-closed. At moments like these, I begin to see how difficult his life is and appreciate how hard he works for our family.

“No matter what, you must study hard so you can go to college and earn a good living. We don’t want you to have to live the way we do.” My parents have repeated this to me ever since I was young. Over the years, I have begun to realize that they are pushing me to study for my own good. What I had deemed a pointless chore was actually loving encouragement, an attempt to help me escape my parents’ fate. As immigrants from Vietnam, my parents did not have the opportunity to obtain college degrees. I have realized that education is an essential component of success and hope to be able to live the successful, comfortable life they always pictured for me.

I can’t pinpoint just one moment in my life that my parents have made sacrifices for me. Even as I’m writing this, they are still doing all they can to ensure that I will have a bright future. With both my parents coming home late in the evening, I never really get to spend much time with them. This is an unfortunate, but unchangeable aspect of my life.

I have grown up and realized that life is full of harsh realities. However, I’ve also realized that, with the diligence and persistence that I learned from my parents, I have the power to succeed.

I want to know how productive I can be in ten minutes per day.

Life can be very busy. We have so much that needs to be done everyday. Sometimes we feel like we will never get to the things we want to do in life. That is when we need to set aside some time everyday to do something that will get us closer to those desires and goals.

When can we find the time to Do the Fun Stuff:

Wake up 20 minutes early and spend time doing what you want to do. I like to write several times per day. When I can write for 10 minutes three times per day, I can have projects done on a regular basis.

Do what you love while you eat lunch. Brainstorm, plan, work out the details in the time it takes you to eat a meal.

At night after everyone else goes to bed. I get some of that planning and detail work done when the house is quiet and I can actually think for a change.

Why ten minutes?

It does not take long. You can get on with your day.

Sometimes that is all it takes to start a longer session. If you get on a roll and keep going, you will get even more done.

You force yourself to focus on what you are doing. There is no time to wonder off and forget what you were doing.

Do it everyday. Make it a habit. Make sure you do something everyday or you will skip your 10 minutes and you will start to loose great creative time.

Most sex Ideal Only Seven Minutes?

Talking about sexual activity, so far no one had ever given guidelines on how long or how many times do we have to have intercourse with a partner. This is very reasonable, considering that each couple has different rules and very terpulang to individual taste.

Not infrequently and then trapped on the assumption that sex is a satisfactory quality or long lasting and high enough intensity. When in fact, old or not sex was not necessarily to be a measure or indicator of partner satisfaction in sex.

Questions about how long the ideal time to have sex is a debate. Regarding this one, experts in the United States revealed an interesting finding. According to the results of their research, the best sex should last between seven to 13 minutes, and even sex for three minutes was enough to be categorized.

The experts are taking those conclusions after holding a study of the origin pertisipan U.S. and Canada are taken randomly. This is the first research to reveal what is believed to experts about the ideal time in penetrative sex. This research is also intended to help rectify this assumption that many couples during sex should last long.

Published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine March 5, 2008, research revealed that in the eyes of participants, sex is ideal and the most satisfying last between seven to 13 minutes.

Also disclosed, intimate relationship that lasted for three to seven minutes of sex considered as sufficient. While less than three minutes is considered too short and categorized more than 13 minutes too long.

From the research also revealed the fact that the participants – especially Americans – expect penetrative sex to take place within 15 to 20 minutes, despite the fact that intimate relationship that lasted half the time.

Lead researcher Dr Eric Corty from the Behrend College in Pennsylvania, explains that this phenomenon indicates the maturity of the woman’s male partner after experiencing a ‘disappointment’ and ‘dissatisfaction’.

• In the fantasy model of male sexuality, a man described as having a large penis, erections are stronger and can sustain sexual activity all night, ° Dr Corty wrote.

¨ Apparently, many men and women still held fantasy. The results of this research, by providing a realistic model rather than fantasy, it is useful to treat patients with sexual dysfunction. With the publication of a wider, this result can also be used to prevent sexual dysfunction,

A recent study in the journal of Sexual Medicine Journal revealed that the best sex lasts 7.5 minutes, without foreplay.
I do not understand. Last year, in July I read another study of this kind. Couple therapists to “Society for Sex Therapy and Research” has concluded, that 13 minutes is the ideal length for a game of love.

So I no longer dream of a successful game of love that pain all night! If you want to take into consideration what experts say, the clock on the bedside table and sits down to 7.5 and / or put you 13 minutes to ring. The important thing is not to exceed this time, because you risk that you qualify couples parties too long “to sex.

But I wonder who is counting their sex? Maybe just the brilliant scientists!

Keyswords of women's language.

In the next lines we will try to explain the true meanings of the words that women use often.

Fine
This is the word a woman uses at the end of any argument in which she
feels she is right about but needs to shut you up. Never use “fine” to
describe how a woman looks. This will cause you to have one of those
arguments.

Five Minutes
This is really half an hour. It is equivalent to the same “five minutes”
that a football game is going to last before you take out the garbage.

Nothing
This really means, “You’d never understand.” “Nothing” is usually
accompanied by a woman’s desire to turn you inside out, upside-down, and
backwards. “Nothing” is often said prior to an argument that will last
“Five Minutes” and will end with the word “Fine.”

Go Ahead (with normal eyebrows)

This means, “I give up” or “do what you want because I don’t care.” You
will get the “Go Ahead” with raised eyebrows in just a few minutes,
followed by “Nothing” and “Fine” and she will talk to you in about “Five
Minutes” when she cools off.

That’s Okay

This is one of the most dangerous statements a woman can say to a man.
“That’s Okay,” means that she wants to think long and hard before paying
you retributions for whatever it is that you have done. “That’s Okay” is
often used with the word “Fine” and used in conjunction with the raised
Eyebrow “Go Ahead.” At some point in the near future when she has plotted
and planned, you are going to be in some mighty big trouble.

Please Do
This is not a statement, it is an offer. A woman is giving you the chance to
come up with whatever excuse or reason you have for doing whatever it is
that you have done. You have a fair chance to tell the truth, so be careful
and you shouldn’t get a “That’s Okay.”

Thanks a lot
This is much different than “Thanks.” A woman will say, “Thanks a lot”
when she is really ticked off at you. It signifies that you have hurt her in
some callous way, and will be followed by the “Loud Sigh.” Be careful not
to ask what is wrong after the “Loud Sigh,” as she will only tell you
“Nothing.”

The term "unit" means a thing which is complete in itself.

The word ‘unit’ means a thing which is complete in itself. Sometimes it means group of things or persons forming a whole complete in itself. And of-course sometimes it means the numeral or quantity or dimension adopted as standard of measurement. Therefore it has been clear that something which means athing when understands its completion then it must be said as an unit. There will be nothing incompleteness in a thing when it can not be said as an unit. An unit is applied in terms of measuement of time, distance etc.. The measures are like seconds, minutes, kilometers, hour , days, years etc in order to mean an unit of distance, time etc. THe unit is a particular whole where something is understood to be complete in nature and size. However it is now clear that whatever size of the thing may be it must be a meaningful and complete thing.

How much of our lives do we spend waiting for things to happen?

When you think about it we spend an awful amount of time waiting for things, whether it is waiting for the train, waiting for a page to load, waiting on hold, waiting in a queue. Everyday there is a chance that you have been waiting for something.

Wouldn’t it be good if we never have to wait? Then we could reclaim those few precious minutes of our lives that we never get back! Surely with all the technology around there must be a way of cutting out the waiting times, well I don’t want to disappoint you so let me tell you some ways to save yourself a little bit of time.

Gethuman.com

This is a genius website that will help you spend less time selecting option 1 – 1000 on the endless supply of phone menu’s that we have to go through whenever we call a company. Just search the company you want and which country it is in and hopefully they will have what you are looking for! It will tell you the exact buttons to push to get through to a person so that you don’t have to get confused between all the options. Unfortunately you may still have to spend some time waiting to speak to a human, but at least you would have saved time choosing options.

Transport updates

If you are using public transport then make sure before you leave the house to check the website to see if there are any delays, therefore you will know if you are going to have extra time. Also check traffic report websites, this way you can decide to go a different way if you think you are going to be stuck waiting.

Choose less popular restaurants.

As we all know its the popular ones that you need to wait for your table in, unless you have the pre-sight to book ahead. So why not try some other restaurants? You will save waiting time and might even find a new favourite.

Make your own lunch.

Fed up with spending half your lunch break waiting in a queue for food, then make your own, saves time and money!

Shop online!

How big do you think the queues are right now, how big were they before Christmas? How much easier it would be if we could just order things and have them delivered. Oh yeah, we can! Wouldn’t it be even better if we could order it gift-wrapped and then we wouldn’t have to do it. Oh yeah, on a lot of sites you can!

If you have enough money ….

Hire a private jet! You wont have to wait in line with people at the airport as you will be the only one on the flight! Also if you have the money a private helicopter will get you to places faster than a car, you just may need to find a place to land, could be the same as looking for a space in a car park!

Above all make up your mind to have a max time that you will wait, decide that you will not spend more than X amount of minutes before leaving. So if that means that friend who is always late will have to track you down, so what, she wasted your time, waste some of hers!

Decide today that you are going to start creating more free time by doing less waiting, and enjoy your free time!

If you're stress out and need a break but you have lots of work to do, then this is the guide for you.

To do this you must have to say to yourself, I’m going to take a break no matter what for 5 minutes. Even if you have lots of work, say 10 forms to check and submit, take a break, talk to someone for some time, make yourself a sandwich in that 5 minutes or a cooling drink. By this you feel more relaxed and then you can continue doing your work, feel a little better and have some fun.

What I do is when I have work to do at home is finish half of it, take a 20 minute break, talk to anyone around, friends… eat a donut, maybe take a little walk and then get back to work. If you sit in one place for too long you’re more likely to become upset and well, your bottom might start hurting.

Another really good way is to say to yourself, give yourself a reasonable amount of time and say, I’m going to finish my work by 7’o clock, maybe an hour to do it all and then you have a whole night on your hand. Sounds great? Well it has to be done with concentration, you can’t just loosen up and waste by thinking about that you’re going to do in that free night while you’re still working till 7. You have to be concentrated and when your work is finished, order some pizza and watch T.V, or something healthy as well, like nachos covered in cheese, onions, bits of potato salad, salsa, and maybe some hot peppers depending on your tasting style.

By utilizing the time efficiently, we can easily save many minutes, which will grow gradually to hours saved. A person can gain more time to oneself and family by doing some good time utilization things at work.

Have a plan in hand during the beginning of each day. Failing to plan is planning to fail. If possible, end the workday with a things-to-do list for the next day.

Know how to differentiate between urgent and important tasks. Concentrate on the urgent-and-important tasks first. Then comes the urgent-but-not-important, followed by not-urgent-not-important tasks. Try to delegate or outsource the not-urgent-not-important tasks.

However good you are at multitasking, you can only do one work at a time. Multitasking is a process where you use time-slices and allot them to different tasks, just like a computer. But remember, computer chip can be replaced, but not your brain!

If you can do it in couple of minutes, do not postpone. Procrastination is the worst thief of time. Never fall prey for this. However, if you are indulged in an activity that demands your undivided attention for long time, do not entertain such tiny activities. They may seem to take only two minutes, but you would have lost 5 minutes already in the ordeal!

It is okay to be not reachable during crucial projects. Switch off the mobiles, close your outlook and chats; and focus on the job at hand. These technologies can wait till you finish the job. Undivided attention can save a lot of minutes.

Avoid distractors! It could be the cabin neighbor or your juniors. Even if it is your boss, tell the boss that you need to focus on the job than to get into conversation with them unless it is of higher priority than the current job. Delegate to your boss the decision of which one comes first! A good leader will always appreciate it.

Plan your breaks well. Only a brain which relaxes can work well. Remember the story in which the woodcutter who sharpens his axe cuts more trees.

Inform people that you are busy and let them know when you can be approached again. It is okay to make the unimportant issues wait than to have the important issue constrict your neck.

Being early or punctual has its benefits too. To know more about the benefits, refer to http://bizcovering.com/business/learn-about-the-benefits-of-being-punctual/

Have fun. It is very important to realize that you can do much more in the given time and be happy that you have got another day to live and prove your survival. Not many creatures get this great opportunity of living for decades together.
