Tips on handling mockery, taunts and ridicule.

Most people have been targets of mockery or ridicule in one form or the other. Mockeries are actually words or behavior meant to make a person or something look silly or ridiculous. Mockery works like a jagged edged dagger making the person mocked feel rejected, dejected and frustrated. It makes the object feel as if to press a button and disappear from the scene. What could be an antidote for taming the wild effect of boisterous mockery?

When someone is ridiculed, the initial reaction is to say back abusive things in defense. Acting in this manner actually fulfils the desires of the mockers and like fuel to fire this approach only helps the flame resulting in more bitter mockery. Instead of choosing the easier path of mocking back, what if you develop a mindset of “whatever they say cannot affect me, they are just talking” This can weaken the mocker(s) making them feel that their arsenals only landed on an assault-proof target and so had no effect.

Apart from ignoring mocking attacks, if the target of mockery decides to jokingly “team” with the mocker(s) to mock himself or herself, this will burst the inflated punch of the mockers. Acting like this works in both directions: diffusing the cloud of bitterness within the target and also weakening the blow from the mocker(s).

Above all, having a wholesome attitude towards oneself is proper. When your self value doesn’t come from what people say and you don’t rely on their comments for a feeling of self approval but rather appreciate yourself as God’s creation depending rather on what God says about you, then you can be deaf to the mockeries of men.

It is a painful thing to be mocked, but the pain is less when you understand why people mock others.

It is very difficult to be a victim of mockery. There is a big difference between teasing and mockery. Mockery is ridiculing a person with the aim of destroying him. Teasing is friendly and seeks to draw the other person closer. For there to be mockery, there should be certain conditions.

The victim should be better than the perpetrator.

If you are a victim of mockery, then you should know that you possess some superior quality that the person mocking you does not have. This is not about social position or status. It is about strength of character and inner qualities. Even if the mocker is better placed socially than his victim, he (the mocker) still recognizes the victim as superior.

Mockery is done out of envy

As the mocker recognizes his own inadequacies as compared to his victim, he wishes to be like him. But he discovers that he cannot be. This fills the mocker with envy, leading to acts and words that seek to make others see the victim as bad. The more the victim resists, the stronger the mocker envies.

How to deal with mockery

There is one thing mockers find difficult to take. That is to be ignored. It makes them feel worthless. Their aim is to provoke, but if they are ignored, they realize that their acts are not worth the efforts they put in. The worst thing you can do when you are mocked is to react openly against it. The mocker feels victorious about that. Never give him the chance to.

Instead of hating the one who mocks you, love them. Never seek revenge. That makes the world better.

Yes, it's true! Snoop Dogg ACTUALLY voices a new TOMTOM GPS navigation system. If Snoop can do it, anyone can do it. So, here are my choices for the top 10 future celebrity GPS voices.

The popular GPS (satellite navigation system) company, TOMTOM has released a new version of their system with the ‘gangsta’ rapper Snoop Dogg providing the voice. It’s not a joke – and it’s AWESOME! Some direct quotes from the system are:

“Sharp left…So fly!“

“You have reached your destination. Thanks for tha ride man. I had tha time of ma life. Oooh-wee!”

Well, this news just tickled me so much that I was left to wonder about the amazing possibilities of other unlikely celebrities doing GPS voiceover. So…

Here are the top 10 Celebrity GPS Voice Hopefuls

10. Elmo from Sesame Street

“Elmo thinks driver should go left up there. Ooh car is close, destination is far! Do you know how to spell destination? Elmo likes the color red. Oh no, driver has ended up in the ditch. Ditches make Elmo saaad.”

9. Keanu Reeves

“Whoa… This car is, like, moving. It’s, like, meant to be. This super wise woman called the Oracle told me that you should turn, but it’s up to you to choose which direction. If you are the chosen one, you will pick the right choice. If not, it’s like, whoa, and you should probably check a map or something.”

8. Mr. T

“I pity the fool who doesn’t make a sharp left when I suggest it!”

7. Stewie Griffin

“Oh, no, no. It’s no big deal at all. When I specifically ordered you to drive another 400 meters before turning, it was perfectly acceptable for you to make a u-turn and end up on the wrong side of the road. Yes, I needed a good head-on collision to put the spring back in my limp. It’s not so much that I want to kill you right at this moment, but more that I do not want you to be alive anymore.”

6. Teen Girl Squad (from Homestar Runner)

“Teen Driving Squad! With Back Seat Driver, Gas Jockey, Whoever, and The Road Raging One! Alright you ‘Aw3s0m3′ driver, let’s get ready to turn SOOO RIGHT. I have a license and registration in…boyssss. Squawk! Eaten by soaring eagle while busy texting in the car! It’s overrrr!”

5. Yoda

“Hmm, turn sharp in 40 meters will you. Hmmm, yes. Good turn, Jedi. Powerful turn. Become lost you will not! At the final destination are we. Hmmm…yes.”

4. Paris Hilton

“Omg, this car is so not hot. You should, like, turn or something. You could go straight, too. Whatever. I am totally crushing on that ambulance driver. That stretcher is so hot. This isn’t my fault or something is it? Hey, look, a shiny object. TTYN!”

3. Christopher Walken

“So, driver. Tell me! Are you into cooking? I once cooked a steak so rich! And, yet, so flawed. It was one of the MOST beautiful things…my eyes had ever seen. BUT! It was an evil steak so I threw it out. Left! Is where you would have wanted to turn back there. Pity but you STILL have the option to make…a U-turn. Also, I need more cow-bell.”

2. Martha Stewart

“Driving on the road is the perfect time to work on some fun and classic crafts to turn your vehicle into a place of warmth and family gathering. Today, we’re going to take an acorn, a rubber band, a hot glue gun, some leftover cat hair, and an incredibly sharp knife, and use them to distract people while we commit stock market scandals. It’s a good thing.”

1. Jon and Kate Gosselin

“What turn? What car? What 8 children? Pay attention to us! MONEY! MONEY! Money? MONEY! MOOONEEEEYYY!!! Money, money-money… money money money MONEY?! Money. Money! MONEY!!! MONEY!!! MMMMOOONNNNEEEEYYYYY!!!”

A very important issue which really needs great attention if we want our future to be healthy and safe.

We all used to read in our science subjects about lots of scientists and various works done by those scientists. Even, we all know certain jokes on those scientists. Now, we praise them, salute them and recognize them. Today they are immortal in our minds. Our society always gives examples of those great scientists and tells us to do something of that type.

But, when any student tries to really thinks of becoming a scientist. They are always demoralized. They are said that its work of mad. Your position in the society degrades. We don’t have respect or say in the society, among our peers, among relatives etc. everyone thinks that since he/she couldn’t do anything else in life therefore they are doing such work. Such students are generally thought of as less bright students. They are always booed wherever they go. They make the students feel as if they are doing something wrong.

They won’t stop unless and until the student achieves some really marvelous feat. Else the student is just treated as an outlaw.

It’s really painful to see such scenario.

But, I feel what even society can do. The companies and governments also don’t care much about scientists. They may provide them with some of the most advanced instruments. But, monetarily scientists are always on the loosing side. Its always said that if you want to become scientists then you have to forget money and in today’s materialistic it is the clear cut indication that you are going against the society laws and hence you are considered as an outlaw.

In our childhood we had a science joke which used to say that more knowledge you possess, lesser money you get. That time we all used to take it joke but now I’m getting its true reality.

So, it really feels bad at the condition of scientists in our society. Society forgets that whatever comforts they are getting is due to hard labor of scientists who work day and night to make our life comfortable. But, in turn society gives nothing to them other mockery.

So, I believe that it’s really a high time, that we as a society should understand this problem and must change our attitude. Since, even scientists are human beings and probably much higher in position than we are and hence they deserve really some good respect. Since, if we don’t reform ourselves then probably a time may come that no intelligent student will think about the research because then no one would like to study some extra 5-10 years just for listening the booing of the society and to get lowly paid.

However, if society doesn’t want any more comforts in future than they can carry on with their irresponsible attitude. But they must remember that if there are no scientists then their won’t be any more jobs as it’s the scientists who develop new concepts and these new concepts give new uses which provides new jobs. In turn, we would be returning to the Stone Age, where all work has to be done by human as neither they would have any money nor choice.

Anyone would think I have two heads, or have just been released from jail, when you consider the reaction I get when people discover both my children have a different father.

I am one of ‘those women’ who is lucky enough to have two beautiful sons, however they both have a different father.
The age gap between my boy’s is 7 years, so as you can see, I didn’t go about producing my second offspring lightly.

I know, or certainly know of many women in a situation similar, if not more extreme than mine.

So why am I made to feel like a freak of society, in a small minority? I believe I represent a ‘fair’ cross section of Great Britain’s society, so why do I receive such negative press?

I find myself avoiding the subject, or apologising for it, both of which are totally ludicrous. I anticipate a negative reaction, and often by what someone doesn’t say, tells me exactly what they think.

Endorsement or mockery?

Watch any modern day soap opera, and you will see (or will have seen) a woman who has children of different fathers. Usually these women are portrayed as ‘less well off’ or ‘less intelligent’, which is such an unfair representation.

Think about the ‘docu-soap’ culture that we all enjoy participating in viewing. We like nothing more than to relish in the lives of women who have several women, by several different father’s, in fact it creates ’restroom gossip’ for us all the next day. But if we met the very same woman in the street, we would laugh and mock, and make inappropriate judgements.

How many women in the media ‘public eye’ are in the very same situation, but they are portrayed as heroines or public icons, it just isn’t fair.

It doesn’t make you a failure

Despite achieving success within my career, which has spanned fifteen years, this appears not to count when people choose a reason to judge me.
I find myself acceptingly laughing at people’s sarcastic comments and jokes, and considering I am a confident woman, I rarely defend my honour.

Unless someone allows the opportunity for me to proffer my ‘life resume’, they will without fail assume that I am a social sponger, relying on benefits, passing my children from dad to dad, not thinking that actually my domestic situation suits us all perfectly.

I have worked hard, to make both my children proud of me, that means a lot to me. And no day goes by without me mentally ‘patting myself on the back’ for getting myself and them to where we are now, man or no man!

The benefits

My eldest son has lived most of his life in a situation many kids would envy. He gets more presents than he knows what to do with at Christmas and on birthdays, he has two Christmas Days, two holidays a year, what more could a child want?
I avoid encouraging the creation of a ‘spoilt’ child, but at least I will never be guilty of saying that my children have ever been deprived of love or material comforts.

Our domestic situation suits us all. My current partner, and father to my youngest boy accepts my ‘past’ and does not judge me for it. In fact we live an enjoyable life, and relatively stress free one at that. After all, my eldest son goes away to his father’s every other weekend, therefore allowing my partner, my son and I, time to spend relaxing and enjoying time together without being pressured into visiting theme parks or bowling alleys!

Don’t let it get to you

I live with the fact that I am not a lesser mum to either of my children. They are both as lucky as any child within a ‘same father’ family. I cannot see one negative in our lives as they currently are, so why does society choose to treat me differently.

I really do hope people in my situation become more accepted, to think of all the genuine ‘wrong-doers’ that walk our streets, and are treated like hero’s, make me sad.
