An exploration and opinion of mothers day and similar holidays.

Is mother’s day just another holiday? No, it is made like valentines day and fathers day to respect a single individual. On days like this revenues spike because people feel inclined to spend money that is quite unnecessary! I spent some money but not on the general flowers and/or chocolate no this stuff is too common. I bought some spray paint and my mother was right there with me she didn’t know what I was gonna do with it. Anyhow I was able to get some graffiti work up on the back of our old shed (she knew I was doing that but was ignorant to the sentiment that was going to go into it) and I think it came out nice! This was my first big piece and I thought that only made it more special.

So the message here is be creative and really put thought into gifts don’t blow money it IS the thought that counts!

A little bit about my mother's day, debt, and future plans.

Today has been good so far. We decided not to go look at the houses. Honestly our credit is too bad so we are going to settle for a 2 bedroom apartment. We have a few to look at on Tuesday. Once we get moved I am wanting to start paying off our debts, working on our credit and getting back into college. I’ve been doing some research and found some colleges that offer gaming degrees online which I am really excited about. Last night my husband took care of our daughter so I actually was able to get a full nights worth of sleep! After I woke up I played a few hours of Jade Dynasty then made tacos for dinner, yummy! Have some oreos for dessert as well once my stomach empties out a bit . Looking forward to next Sunday. Mean Kitty Guy aka SMPfilms from youtube and Katers17 will be in San Antonio and I’ll get to meet them! Yay!

Love endures all..........

My smart, handsome and unselfish husband went all out for his mother on this Mother’s Day. He rose up early in the morning to prepare from scratch a Mother’s Day meal for his mom. For a week he has planned this meal. Mentally slaving over the ingredients taking notes on exact measurements and purchased all the food items he needed for this meal, His gift to her.

For that entire week, prior to today’s meal event, he kept in touch with his mother ensuring that she was going to come over as planed. For a week his mother stayed in touch reassuring him that she would not fail him, and to expect her. So, today is the day! The meal prepared with hard work, dedication and love is simmering on low temperature on the stove. Homemade chicken stew! Yum! With garlic bread toasted to perfection. The only question is when do we eat, right? Unfortunately, wrong! His mother ignored multiple phone calls this morning and text messages. Waiting for a response was unbearable, agonizing and worrisome. My husband did not know if something horrific has happened to his mother or what. I also was at a loss as to why she wouldn’t answer her phone.

Finally, six hours later my husband reached his mother by phone. He inquired about the time to be expecting her arrival and her response was that she lent out her only means of transportation, a local city bus pass to an acquaintance. Now, his mom is known for making up stories in order to benefit her. I immediately knew it was a lie. Here’s my take on this entire situation, my husband’s mother could have called and stated that this problem came up. She could have cancelled at anytime. All I could think was “How Rude”, (in my Michelle voice from Full House.)

To see my husband’s feelings get discarded once again by his mother, was the worst thing to have witnessed. He is a man’s man and does not like to show when he is hurt, but I knew by the way his head hung low, that this was a huge disappointment yet again.

I have seen first hand my husband love and care for his mother, He has helped her in so many ways. Financially, physically and emotionally. And it hurts me when I see the only mother he has hurt him and suck the life out of him. To me I see him as a young boy being kicked, thrown dirt in his eyes and even spat on by his mother’s lack of consideration, love and respect for him. And just like a wounded child continuously is in search of his parents approval and love, He never gives up trying to please her. No matter how ungrateful and selfish his mother is to him.

I wonder isn’t a mother supposed to love her child unconditionally, isn’t a mother supposed to want their child to be happy and to be there for them, not let them down with deceitfulness? I mean is the world not cruel enough for your child? Why add on to the disappointments life gives you? Your family, especially your mom should be the safest person and place to go to. The world is a mean enough place if you don’t have mom, if you can’t trust mom…where does that leave you?

* Note: To all mothers on Mother’s Day Honor your children and give them as much love as the first day you felt them in your bellies kicking and as much love as the first day you held them in your arms. True Mother’s Day is for children to honor their moms, but remember without your children you would not have the honor to be called a Mother.

The most basic essential to be understood before going gift shopping on Mothers Day is the personality type of your mom.

Is your mother working or a homemaker, outgoing or a homebody, loves to travel or do gardening or maybe loves fashion or shopping every few days. If you have analysed or observed closely her nature and preferences, then choosing the perfect gift for her becomes easy. Here we present some gift ideas for a mother who has a modern outlook and lifestyle.

Apparels for the Well Dressed Lady
Your mother is someone who loves dressing up on occasions and even without them. She is probably the person whom you consult whenever you have to take decisions regarding the latest in fashion and the trends in clothes. Maybe she is just particularly well turned out and concerned about making the right impression.

Simply said, the choice of a Mother’s Day present for her is what make sher look beautiful and pleasingly attractive. Gift her apparels which might range from a new dress to work out clothes, from formals to informals and from traditional ethnic wear to western wear.

Latest Gadgets for the Techno Savvy Mom
Have you noticed that she, your mom, loves moving with the times and always feels that time is short for anything and everything that she might want to do. Or maybe, she wants to or needs to accomplish the maximum possible in a short period. Then, this Mother’s Day show her how much you care, gift her something that assists her in her daily and long term challenges.

Gadgets which make the work around the house easier or make it easier for her in balancing her home and work life. Be it kitchen ware or an electronic personal care product or planners and communicators, all come under this category of gifts.

Art Work or Collectibles for Your Mom
For someone who is accomplished in her own right, who has her own identity for the world to recognise and appreciate, a hobby of art or music is a natural outcome which brings him/her full circle to a wholesome life.

Even if her busy schedule and forward thinking and quick acting approach make it difficult for your mom to appreciate the small pleasures in life like collecting art or music or decorating and designing, still a gift of art or other valuable collectibles can be and should on your list of Mother’s Day gift ideas.

A Holiday as a Mother’s Day Gift
After a period of hard work and keeping up to the demands of a busy life, the least our mothers deserve is a long sought after holiday. Why do you not be the one to give her this. It would be the most beautiful surprise and one much appreciated by her for a long time to come.

She is sure to love you for making this occasion extra special and memorable for her. It would also mean a rare time off without the daily work and chores and duties to bother her and a time spent with loved ones. From a weekend getaway to a day trip to a much longer holiday, every option has its pros and cons, go for one which suits your mothers and her family which includes you.

Happy Mother's Day! What are you thankful for?

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

What are you most thankful for on this beautiful sunny day? Well, maybe in some parts of the world the weather isn’t as nice, but it’s still a glorious day all the same. We’re mothers and that is the greatest gift on earth.

To be able to have given birth to a miracle, multiple miracles, artificial insemination, adoption and others, it is the most amazing thing on this planet. I have given birth to four children, Sean, Jake, Mollyanne and Julia and they are my most prized possessions.

I am so thankful for having wonderful children, a close knit family, great relations with my ex (their father) and his parents. It was rocky during the separation, but now everything is as it should be. Calm, civil and just plain good friends. And I am also thankful for a wonderful new boyfriend that is added to my life. I’m thankful to be having a fun job selling on EBay that allows me to be around my children every day. And I am thankful for the quality time in between when the children aren’t here so I can do all my arts and crafts and hobbies that I love. And most of all, I am thankful to be alive each new day, to smell the fresh air, drink coffee, eat good food and to know I have a perfect beating heart that keeps me going.

What are you thankful for?

And as Mother’s we are very patient, kind, nurturing loving people who want the best for our children. We would take the shirts off our backs for them, we would do anything for them and some of us had died for them. Our children are our number one priority in this life we call ours.

What are we to them? Their mother of course, chauffeur, the famous human napkin (yuck), nurse, maid, comedian, singer of crazy made up songs or old ones that stick in our heads, (mine is A Way Down South in The Land of Cotton. Jake my downs child laughs every time I sing it.), teacher, caregiver, bearer of cool gifts, maker of yummy sweet treats, storyteller (the old days), art teacher, authority figure, best friend, the person most hated (we’re not parents if they’ve never said they hate us), mediator (when your two siblings start to pick a fight or argument), the person who gets rid of unwanted toys and junk, trash picker upper, grocery shopper (and don’t bring your kids with you if you can have someone watch them. Sometimes you come back with extra snacks or a crying kid that can’t have something), and just about any other thing that we are to them.

And what is your day like so far today? Relaxing I hope. It has been mine so far. Much better than yesterday. I got to meet my boyfriend to get my van back finally. It had been fixed, new engine and other crap. I’ve been having problems with the old van since February, leaking anti freeze, blown gasket, got a new radiator and finally the engine. I am so thankful that he paid for it to be fixed as I have been kind of on a budget and didn’t have the money to have all that done.

And he’s been travelling back and forth to Boston as his sister is in the hospital down there. Her breastplate came apart and they put a new one in and she wasn’t taking to it, having infections, and now her heart isn’t doing very well. He’s been down there for the last two to three weeks and I finally got to see him for a few minutes yesterday. Next weekend is my weekend with the kids, so I will finally get to have Memorial Day Weekend to spend quality time with him. And his other family members are going to trade off with him to be with his sister. He has got to get back to his life. His boss wants him to work cleaning up all his properties and he is way behind, and he just needs to get back to normal things and to see me again. I’ve been missing him.

So, he showed me what got fixed with the car and left and I started driving back and going to yard sales on the way back. A few minutes after I was driving the car started rattling in the back. I didn’t think too much about it, but figured it was something. So I did all my yard sales, got back to the kids house to grab my checkbook as I had seen an old vintage Toni doll at a sale and he only wanted five for her and I was down to one dollar. So I drove quickly to the house grabbed the checkbook and when I got back, luckily Toni was still there waiting for me. The vintage Barbie case and it’s contents was gone, which was just as well. If I had bought it to sell on EBay it would have been a large thing to ship. I like shipping smaller outfits that are easy to package and don’t break. The dolls are usually easy to ship too. But I’m not sure if I want to sell her. I do like dolls and am thinking I might want to replenish a few at a later date when I may have some extra money.

So, I got back, settled down with the kids and a little while later, my ex came in and said, “You have a flat tire.” I got so upset that afternoon and wasn’t sure what to do. All I could think is I don’t have the money to get it fixed. And what should I do? Luckily my ex has an air compressor so he will be able to pump it up. But at the time, I got my boyfriend on the phone, all upset and crying. I’m certainly no mechanic. He got angry that nobody up my way knew how to put on my spare tire. My ex just takes his car to the garage and let them do everything, my teenage son, Sean, doesn’t know anything about changing a tire. I was lucky three years ago when I broke down in New Hampshire with all the kids and a kind gentleman arrived and helped us. Sean at least knew where the spare tire was. I had no clue. And this man knew how to put on a spare and had lots of tools in his car, put on the spare for us and helped us find a tire place.

I was all in tears on the phone with him last night and he helped calm me down. And he said I have leverage and that Todd needs to help me get to a tire place to get it fixed. He said, “No car? I can’t watch the kids.” Then he told me to just try not to think about it and have a good night.

Luckily, my ex is going to let me borrow some of my alimony money early and I will get it tended to tomorrow morning. He will pump up my tire so I will be able to make it a few miles away to the tire place and I will bring my knitting and get it fixed.

And then, my boyfriend said when we get together in a few weeks we will talk about how to get out of this hole we’ve been in with the whole car mess and all that nasty bill stuff and my high rent. I wish I could just move from there and try to save some to get myself out of a rut.

But today is Mother’s Day and a day to just try to wipe everything away for a little bit. An R & R with the kids. Everything else will fall into place as fate will have it.

So, last night I slept over the kids house and slept on their couch. We had a late night, I finished listing my EBay items while the girls, Jake and Todd were at the Drive-Ins. They saw that new pirate kids movie and Dark Shadows. Mollyanne was much more interested in Dark Shadows. The other day she was watching previews on her computer and asking me who and what everyone on the movie was. I told her I didn’t know as I haven’t seen the movie. I remember hearing about the original soap opera it’s loosely based from. (Before my time). And then, she was on some site that lets you do fun stuff. I looked over and she had a photo of Julia dressed as one of the movie characters. That was funny.

This morning I woke up early and looked over and Julia was still asleep. She sleeps on the couch with me when I sleep over. She won’t be doing it tonight as it’s a school night. So, I wake up at 3AM, do my business and turn off the light that we forgot to shut off. Julia woke up for five minutes after that.

Then I woke up at 6AM and decided to stay up and sew up one of my cool new reversible headbands. I look over at Julia and she just looks so beautiful when she is sleeping.

Aren’t they like angels when they are asleep. I wanted to take a picture of her but all our cameras were needing to be charged up. My camera battery died on me last night when I was ready to take pictures of two more sundresses that don’t fit me anymore. It can wait. I just listed a whole batch of things yesterday.

So I just simply treasured that small window of time to watch her sleep peacefully. Beauty sleep as our mothers called it.

And I wish I could say Happy Mother’s Day to my mom today. For the last eleven years I have been wishing I could say that. Never again. But she was the most wonderful mother. I put her on a pedestal and idolized her. She was the best.

Aren’t all our mothers the best? That is what all you mother’s out there that still have yours with you should be thanking your lucky stars that you still have them in your life, because suddenly you wake up one day and CANCER could take them away without you saying okay and they are gone and all you have is the most prized possession. The memories of them and how they nurtured you and did the most important job in the world. Raising you.

There’s no other job in the world that can live up to that standard. That is what being a parent is all about. When you pop that child out, the two of you or whoever you have in your life exist for them.

You get a little bit older and it’s all about them. Then as they get older and become parents, it’s all about their kids and the train goes on and on. There’s no end.

Those priceless miracles are yours. And you know you can’t put a price on them. There isn’t one.

And to all you moms out there that have had to bury a son (my cousin among them), just know that he or she is up there telling you “Happy Mother’s Day” today. Their spirits are with you all the time. Find comfort in that and know that they would want you to go on and be happy.

And then, today are the fun things. Waiting for your children to realize today is Mother’s Day and say the words, (Julia took about a half hour before it dawning on her) bring you their cards, their handmade gifts and another little store bought gift that their father helped them get.

Mine was a cute little card with all my little mice leaving their footprints on the card with all their names on it. Two cute little cans with button flowers that my girls made at Girl Scouts for me. I love them. One has sunflowers on the can and the other is peaches and they’ve got little heart buttons, stars, a phone and others on it. If that camera was charged up I would have had a picture of it for my post today. Bummer. Will share another day. I’ve got my sewing scissors in it too.

And then the little store bought item was one of those plastic coffee cups with the cover and straw and it says Love You Mom! Love it and it has my coffee in it right now. Which I might have to heat up soon. Those cups are great. I’ve got one more that I got for free at our local bank, so will probably leave one at my boyfriend’s house.

So, today we are just now relaxing and are on our computers. My girls have decided to go back to playing on the Webkinz site. They haven’t been there in a while. They’ve been watching You Tube videos of The Littlest Pet Shop characters the older girls make. Some of them are quite violent. One Mollyanne had me watch was quite long and the pet shop character got adopted by a psycho mother who had already killed the father and there was lots of killing with ketchup on the innocent toys.

And I pulled out an old photo of me this morning to show them. It was a picture of me about their age sitting on my mom’s couch in my first nightgown creation I had sewn. Crazy concoction, and the sleeves were made out of this funky striped fabric that my mother had also made marble bags for my sister and I. It actually fit me at the time, and now is long gone. Along with the crazy popsicle stick house I made for my Honey hill dolls when I was their age. That thing took forever to make and was larger than a big Barbie doll Van. I had glued the whole thing to a piece of wood and painted the outside a funky green.

The sun is gone now. Oh well. I did pull out my herb and flower seeds this morning in case the girls and I want to escape out into the garden for a short bit today. I don’t feel like planting all of them, but maybe we will get a little start into it. I’m going to grow lots of lavender, chamomile, mint, hyssop, eucalyptus, and the girls will plant the flower and carrot seeds.

But it will over all just be a quiet day, playing around and enjoying our time together. And I will sleep over once more and worry about my car tomorrow.

So, once again, Happy Mother’s day! Enjoy every minute (especially if your kids think to make breakfast in bed for you, clean up the house, be good and no fights, and tend to your every need. Maybe paint your nails and do extra household chores. Because you know that tomorrow or any day in the future their rates could go up and your in a nutshell floating down the shallow creek with no nail polish on your nails! Ha ha!

The pros and cons of Ecards for Mothers' Day.

So lately Iv’e been hearing about sending ecards for Mothers’ Day. And it’s a way to show your mom that you care on her day, right? It’s cheap and easy and there for you when you’ve forgotten to send her a card or a gift, correct? Well, this is all good, but what are ecards really saying?

It’s a whole lot less of an effort than going to the store, choosing a pretty card your mother will like and posting it to her. And isn’t the whole point of today to do something for your mom to show appreciation? All it requires is a google search to find free ecards, a few clicks and an “I love you mom! Thanks!”

She’ll most likely know you forgot to send her a real card. It’s pretty obvious when you get a makeshift gift via email send in the day of.

If this is your last resort, be sure to plan something special so she thinks this was a “part two” of a big surprise. This is the only time of thr year that guilts you into doing something for your mom, so do it right,

Being a mother is the greatest experience on Earth in the life of any woman and it is also the hardest job you will ever love. Motherhood is a blessing immeasurable.

THE BLESSING OF MOTHERHOOD and Mother’s Day Thoughts

There is no way to even come close to explaining the wonder, the amazement, the awe that fills you the moment you hold your newborn child in your arms for the first time. Being a mother doesn’t mean you have to have physically given birth to a child. There are some amazing, wonderful and loving mothers out there who adopted their children; children other women were unable to love and care for, whatever the reason may be. Speaking of adoption, adoption and being an adopted child was explained to me perfectly and in words only a child would express by one little boy, my grandson, who is adopted. He explained it this way, “Omma, I’m very special I think. I’m adopted. My Mom and Dad really love me a whole bunch because I grew in their heart. Most kids grow in their mommy’s tummy.” I think this is a pretty profound explanation for a six year old.

Being a mother is a profound experience. There is no way to truly explain the pride and excitement you feel when your child utters his or her first words, takes his or her first steps or the deep love you feel when that same child hands you a bouquet of sunshine yellow dandelions that were picked from your yard as he or she hugs you around the legs and says “I love you,” his or her eyes shining and a big grin on their face because they brought you the most wonderful gift of love; and it is. In that moment those dandelions, those pesky weeds, are worth a thousand times more than a dozen, dozen long stemmed red roses purchased at the local florist.

Being a mother is also a huge challenge from the moment your child is conceived to the day of their birth, getting them through school, finally grown up and out there on their own and even then it doesn’t end. It is a 24/7/365 job often with long days and nights of caring for, worrying and praying for a sick child or a child who is struggling to succeed or going through all those inevitable growing pains. Mothers are traditionally the peace keepers, the patient and listening ear, the shoulder to cry on when things aren’t going right, the healer of skinned knees and winter time sniffles and the one who is always there when you need them.

Being a mother is a teaching and learning experience for both mother and child and it doesn’t end when they walk off the stage carrying their high school or college diploma. They still need you. They need your love and understanding, your empathy and compassion as they face their own trials in life and they come back again and again seeking your words of wisdom because you are the wisest woman on Earth in their eyes. It is a great honor and privilege and very special blessing to be granted the gift of motherhood.

The Bible, God’s Holy word, teaches us that we are to honor our mother and father. That means that we respect and obey them; treat them with love and kindness. Someone a long time ago to these words to heart and decided it would be really a nice gesture to set aside a special day to especially honor our mother though we should and most do every day. A special day was established for just this purpose and in America it falls on the second Sunday of May. We do the same for fathers a month later in June.

The whole idea of having this special day began back in the 16th century in England where they established a special celebration day called “Mothering Sunday.” It was a special day set aside to give special honor to your mother and a way of saying thank you for all the love, the care, the work, the tears, the laughter, the sadness and joy that comes with the title “Mother.”

Mothering Sunday was a sort of “family reunion” day in which all the children would come home to share the day with their mom. On this day the sons and daughters would assume all the household chores that Mom always did. A special dinner would be prepared in her honor and the oldest child brought what was then known as “the mothering cake,” and it would be sliced and shared by the whole family after they all returned from a special church service that they all attended together with Mother.

The colonist brought this tradition with them when they came to America but it kind of fizzled out for awhile as they went through the struggles of establishing a new nation. The women were just as involved as the men and there was little time set aside for frivolity and special celebration though some may have continued the tradition in a simpler fashion.

I wasn’t able to find much information on Mother’s Day or Mothering Sunday in early America in my research. However, in 1872 a woman by the name of Julia Ward Howe, (you may recognize the name of this famous author and know her as a woman’s rights advocate and leader and abolitionist;) proposed that a special day, June 2nd, be set aside as a day to honor our mother in the name of world peace. The proposal was pretty much ignored by the new congress and even church leaders and it died a quick death buried somewhere in the bottom of the heap of proposals facing our congress as America struggled to keep a united nation and heal the scars of war.

It wasn’t until 1907 that the idea of establishing a special day to honor all mothers again came to the fore. It was then that Anna Jarvis took up the cause and began campaigning for a special day to honor mothers. Her mother had died in 1905 and she wanted a special day established to memorialize motherhood and the undying love of a mother toward her children, a day to honor and remember all the love given and sacrifices made by the mother who gave you life and raised you.

Another year passed before much recognition of the idea took hold and then on May 10th, 1908, a special Mother’s Day service was held in a church in Grafton, West Virginia. It was held in the church where Anna Jarvis’ mother had taught Sunday School and the family had been a member of that church. It was on that day that the idea was reborn that a special day be set aside to honor all mothers, both the living and those who have died and Anna Jarvis became known as the “Mother of Mother’s Day” here in America.

Anna Jarvis began promoting her idea of establishing a national holiday for this purpose, not just in a small church in a small town in West Virginia. She met with civic organizations and presented her ideas to public officials and church leaders, to anyone who would listen and she wrote, published and distributed booklets that promoted her idea of establishing such a holiday and that it should be celebrated nationwide. After all, if it wasn’t for mother and her love and sacrifices where would we be as a family, a community, a nation? She had a point, a good point.

Anna Jarvis’ efforts finally caught the attention of the mayor of Philadelphia who proclaimed it a good idea and proclaimed a special day be set aside for honoring our mother establishing a local Mother’s Day. Anna Jarvis didn’t stop here. She carried her plan to Washington D.C. Here politicians were quick to give it verbal support and States began to individually proclaim a special day for mothers. West Virginia, where it all first began was the first State to proclaim Mother’s Day as an official holiday and other States soon followed.

Soon after the first State proclamations the Representatives of Alabama and Texas wrote up a joint resolutions to establish a national day to honor mother and presented the resolution for Mother’s Day to be observed and celebrated throughout the nation. It quickly passed in both houses of Congress and in 1914 President Woodrow Wilson signed a bill into law establishing the second Sunday of May as a legal holiday, Mother’s Day.

So, Happy Mother’s Day and thank you for being the best mom on Earth, my mom. You are so very loved and appreciated. Thank you for loving me and for all the sacrifices you made for my sake. No words can ever fully describe the wonder of the relationship between a mother and child. Happy Mother’s Day. May you always be abundantly blessed.

Mother while calling this word is also getting sweet. All the people will love to call Mother, Mam, Mom, Amma, Aayi etc. We all love mother so much who has given a chance to us to come to this world. How much she has suffered to make us a man or woman. How much she has struggled during her pregnancy, the pain during delivery. How much she take care when we were a small child. She will get exited while looking into our eyes when we were in her lap.

When we grow to a tiny tot, she has taken more care that we should not fell, we should not cry and we should be happy always. She was very much happy when we called her.

She will give the brake fast in time and will accompany with us to the school. We will catch her hand and go walking to the school while she will carry our school bag, watter bottle etc. On the way she will tell us story and ask us to say the poem which studied in the last day in school.

After we grow again and going through the school bus, during that time she will stand at the gate of our home to wait for the school bus to say us by-by and she will wait at afternoon to receive us while coming back from home.

When we grow further, her anxiety for safety go high. She will help us for our home work, study etc.

After some time when we get a Degree and show to her she will cry with the happiness. When we are getting ready to get married, she along with our father will find a lovely partner.

She will be very much happy to see our self a father or a mother of our child.

I love my mother, we love our mother, Oh mother be happy we are there.

Happy Mother’s day to you.
