He might very well do so and shock the audience with a fond adieu. Mr. Lewis is a better man than I. The secrecy about his ouster does not appear to be much of a secret. MDA said “Jerry you have outlived your usefulness, we need new blood” Mr. Lewis was fired no doubt but was allowed to “retire” gracefully. Bull!

Now the rumors swirl that Jerry will return. Why? not because of any reconciliation between the two but because they were I am certain deluged with angry contributors who vowed never again to participate if Lewis did not go out on his own terms. Thus, if Lewis does return, he is being paid mighty handily to do so.

Jerry Lewis is a legend. His appearances on Labor Day were a joy and an inspiration to millions. He is beloved by the children who have this crippling disease and their parents. Regardless of his arrogant, perhaps even downright mean demeanor in his early years, Lewis has mellowed and is the heart and soul of MDA. Lewis also garnered entertainment for the program not likely to be duplicated again without a celebrity of his magnitude. Just think of it. The “Justin Bieber MDA Telethon”, ugh.

Ultimately, Mr. Lewis may come roaring back for an encore performance and one last attempt of finishing the song, “You’ll never walk alone” However, it will not be because of anything other than his love for his kids and quite frankly a few well deserved bucks.

 MDA has humiliated him and thanked him for his efforts by saying “no mas”. Now Jerry Lewis may very well have what he has had for over 60 years in comedy, the last laugh!
