Images of sharp objects that have been forced into somebody’s head always get people wincing sympathetically, certain that the person involved must be dead, because brain injuries are almost always fatal. The operative word here is almost, and what follows are incredible examples of people should, indeed, should be dead, but lived through their ordeals, somehow surviving, against all the odds, and making full recoveries.

Especially distressing when the victim is child, as young as 17 month-old Jessiah Jackson, some head injuries seem truly horrendous. Jessiah fell into a pressure washer, when his chair tipped over, a large metal hook within the machine penetrating the skull, and lodged some way into the brain, close to a large blood vessel. Despite the inherent danger of the surgical procedure needing to be performed, North Carolina Children’s Hospital surgeons removed the hook safely, and Jessiah is now fully recovered, a happy and healthy child.

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/PainManagement/slideshow/photos-xray-oddities-medical-scans-2033647

Another 17-month-old toddler staged a miraculous recovery after falling face first into car keys, one piercing his eyelid and penetrating his brain. Nicholas Holderman, of Kentucky, USA, appeared to have had his eye had ruptured, at first, but later checks revealed noeye damage at all, and the resilience healthy child had, in just over two months, made a complete recovery, showing no visible signs of having been so horrifically injured.

The young Emerson de Oliveira Abreu was out fishing in Rio de Janiero, using a compressed air powered fishing spear, he aimed at a target fish, but his bad luck saw the spear ricocheted back from a boulder and spear him through head and brain, all 6in going into his skull, which required needed five hours of very high-risk surgery to remove successfully, Emerson amazingly recovering completely and going back to his fishing as if nothing had happened.

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/PainManagement/slideshow/photos-xray-oddities-medical-scans-2033647

One of the luckiest boys alive today, Liu Cheong came very close to death when shot by a school friend whilst the pair were fooling about with bows and arrows, in Changchun, eastern China and 11-year-old Liu was horrified to feel an arrow pierce his eye socket, and travelling through his head, only stopped by the bony back of his skull, Liu only surviving because, by some miraculous freak of chance the arrow missed his brain completely, and he recovered completely.

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/PainManagement/slideshow/photos-xray-oddities-medical-scans-2033647

The image above, as shocking as it is, shows a 15-year-old boy’s skull, shortly after a five inch knife stabbed him, as with two friends attempting to stop a mugging, he was set upon, the knife stabbing one boy in the forehead, another boy in the back and yet another in the shoulder. The boy above only survived because the knife was left sticking from his head, allowing doctors to operate in time. Had anyone tried to remove it before that, he would have died, yet ten months later he enrolled in college.

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/PainManagement/slideshow/photos-xray-oddities-medical-scans-2033647

As awful as these images would suggest the injuries might have been, the fact that these people recovered just goes to show how incerdibly resilient the human body can be in matters of survival. There is bo doubt whatever that every one of these victimes turned out to be incredibly lucky in avoiding life threatening damage, but nature proves, through these amazing stories of survival, that she will always find a way to maintain life.

You may want to include the following in your list of bits and pieces of information.

You may want to include the following in your list of bits and pieces of information:

Ungulates:

Animals equipped with hoofs are known as ungulates. Included in this category are different kinds of animals that have hoofs. Ungulates are divided into two groups: even-toed and odd-toed. Some animals have solid hoofs, such as the horse; others, such as the cow have split or cloven hoofs. People may not be aware that ungulates walk on tiptoes, as their hoofs are like the nails of human beings. Horses and zebras are odd-toed ungulates. Imbedded in their hoofs are bones of three toes. Pigs, llamas, camels, deer, cattle, sheep, goats, antelopes, etc. are known as even-toed ungulates. Their hoofs cover four toes. Ungulates also include elephants, except that their toes are padded, with toenails growing on the front edges. Ungulates are herbivorous, with the exception of the pig family.

Valuable Uses of Uranium:

When we usually mention the word uranium, it immediately brings to mind the words, “atom bomb,” and nuclear energy. Years ago, prior to the the production of atomic energy, uranium did not seem to be as significant as it is today. Yet it is important when we consider that it is used in the making of steel alloys (metal mixtures). What it does is that it strengthens steel by increasing its hardness, and elasticity without making it brittle. It is also used to manufacture yellow-green and red fluorescent glass, glazes pottery, its solution was once used in medicine to kill germs, as well as in certain chemical processes for the manufacture of rubber.

Fraternities and Sororities:

As we all know fraternities and sororities are college students’ clubs. They are known as Greek-letter societies for the reason that their names are borrowed from words in the Greek language, such as Sigma Alpha Epsilon. There are those that consider fraternities and sororities to be Hellenic, meaning Greek.

There are very few people who can say "I do not like to be scratched." Scratches are a form of comfort much appreciated both women and men and can arouse passions of the burners, but you have to know where, when and especially how to apply.

Places where you can scratch the partner or partner are more in the real world is all about your imagination and inspiration of the moment. However, there are few places in the body where the light scratches are very welcome. They are: neck, back, abdomen, muscle area’s prominent men, breasts and groin area course.

Also, scratches can be implemented at any time, any time of intercourse, but this kind of comfort can be a very good way to relax a woman if it is her first sexual experience, when they feel depressed , stressed, or when a couple goes through a problem and not just financial.

The drawback of this particular practice is that for this, man should of course to have a little longer nails, which very rarely happens. Therefore, it is very difficult for a woman to experience the peak of external pleasure. On the same principle according to which if we do not start laughing tickle themselves, women can not feel pleasure and a scratch if a single cause.

Here are seven ways to use nails in order to awaken sexual pleasure:

1 A continuous comfort that starts from the right cheek, neck and ends continue on his chest, then repeat the process backwards.

2 nails trace a curve on the neck and chest as the crescent.

3 A more severe scratching on the cheeks and face so easy to leave a trace.

4 Scratches long turned his head back down and continue right up to the shoulders.

5 scratches on the chest of the man and woman’s breasts.

6 thumb pressing on the nipple and the other 4 from scratch to leave a light.

7 intense scratches on his back, buttocks and then descending to the groin.

Ever unsure of what you should and shouldn't ask your nail technician? Don't know how much you should tip? Embarrassed about asking your nail technician to clean her work station? Here's everything you need to know about spa and nail salon etiquette.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I BECOME UNCOMFORTABLE WITH MY TECHNICIAN IN THE MIDDLE OF MY TREATMENT?

If your technician does something that makes you uncomfortable, speak up! Tell her what’s bothering you, and if she doesn’t correct it, politely remove your hand or foot from her hold, excuse yourself from her station, go to the front desk, and ask to be switched to a new technician.

Be specific about why you don’t like the current one, so that the salon owners understand where you’re coming from: “She’s a bit rough and I’m really sensitive. Do you have anyone who is gentler?”

Don’t just sit there and suffer through. You’ll be hurting your technician’s income by not

tipping well, not to mention wasting your own time and money, and the bad mood that your unhappy salon experience is likely to cause won’t do anybody any good. Communicate!

I DON’T THINK THE PLACE I GO TO IS CLEAN ENOUGH, BUT I ADORE MY TECHNICIAN. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If you and your technician have a close relationship, be honest: Tell her that you think the place should be cleaner.

If she doesn’t want to lose you as a regular client, odds are good that she’ll take your complaint higher up to the owners, and she’ll also make sure that the salon-or at least her station-is spotlessly clean when you come for your next visit.

If you do mention something to your technician, but don’t see any results, it’s time to move on. Change is good. I’m sure there is another sweet technician (who does a great job) in a clean place.

CAN I ASK THE TECHNICIAN TO CLEAN THE PEDICURE SINK, USE A NEW SET OF TOOLS, OR WASH HER HANDS BEFORE SHE BEGINS WORKING WITH ME?

Yes! You can and you absolutely should. Your technician should go along with your request, and if she seems bothered by your desire for a more hygienic environment, it’s a good reason for you to leave immediately.

WHAT IF I SMUDGE MY POLISH? CAN I ASK MY TECHNICIAN TO FIX IT?

This all depends on when you smudge your polish. If it’s while the technician is still working on your hands (say you’ve been naughty and scratched your nose or used your cell phone), she should absolutely agree to fix it.

Same goes if you’re under the dryer and accidentally lift your hands too high. Even if you get a smudge while getting into your car once you’ve left the salon, just head back in immediately and apologetically (after all, you’ve ruined her artistic creation!) ask your technician to do a quick touch-up.

If it’s been a few days and you chip your polish, there’s often no need to get a whole new manicure. Call the salon and make an appointment to simply update your one or two chipped nails. Don’t forget to tip for this, even if it’s inexpensive-especially if your technician has made room in a busy schedule for you.

HOW MUCH SHOULD I TIP?

This varies from spa to spa and region to region, but a safe bet is-like a restaurant-between 15 and 20 percent of the total cost of your treatments.

At a reputable spa, the entire tip goes to the technician, so don’t be shy about giving her a due reward in exchange for her being knowledgeable, gentle, and responsive to your needs.

If you feel like your manicure was undeserving of a tip, don’t do it! I might get hung out to dry for saying this, but you shouldn’t ever feel obligated to tip your technician.

It’s a gesture of thanks given after the fact. If your salon tries to make you pay and tip before the polish is even on and you’d rather wait to see the outcome of the manicure, simply ask kindly if you can take care of the transaction once the service is done.

MY EXPERIENCE WAS AWFUL. I JUST WANTED TO GET UP AND LEAVE!

Speak up! Every business ultimately wants satisfied clients , and sometimes it’s hard to make the tastes and techniques of the client match perfectly with those of the technician.

Make sure you say something before it’s too late: Give the technician , or the salon, a chance to fix the mistake. Don’t worry about hurting the technician’s feelings if things get really out of hand and you’re being physically harmed or your boundaries are being violated.

Stop the procedure immediately and ask for help from the manager, owner, or another attendant.

I have been biting my nails for years and so has alot of the rest of the world I have a few simple steps that you may want to try.

How to stop biting your nails so much

1. Put scotch tape around each nail? – this is only for the people who want to go to the extremes

2. Think systematically - what I mean by this is think about what you are doing and why . What I find is that when I actually am thinking about biting my nails , I don’t because it seems dumb . Usually I bit my nails on instinct.

3. Sit on your hands- If you have to have your hands exposed for something then keep them away from the mouth area because that is where trouble starts .

4.See how long you can go without biting – Make it a little game , first try for a few hours , then days , then weeks, until it’s a happy to not bite your nails .

5.Once you start , stop!- once you start biting quickly stop and punish yourself ( just be disappointed don’t actually punish yourself) laugh out loud.

This idea can be adapted to suit almost anyone. The jars are easy to make and they are very useful.

A hideaway jar can be used a a safe place to hide a spare key, money or a piece of jewellery. Select a jar of suitable shape and size for the filling that you intend to use. If the jar is to be stored in the kitchen fill the jar with pasta, lentils or something similar, if it is to go in the garage or shed then it could be filled with nails, tacks or rawlplugs (these can be bought from a pound store). If the jar is going to be stored in a living room or bedroom choose an attractive jar and fill it with sweets, buttons, marbles, beads or potpourri.

According to the size of the jar choose or make a suitable container to keep the valuables secure inside the jar. The cardboard tube from a roll of cling film or foil can be cut to size and a base made for the tube, it can then be covered with sticky backed plastic, then you can create a lid with foil or cling fill, and an elastic band (like an old fashioned jam pot cover). Where possible I like to use empty containers instead of making my own. A Mentos Chewing Gum container is the ideal shape and size to store money or a spare key. When filling the jar put a layer of sweets, nails, pasta or whatever in the base of the jar, then hold the container in the jar and fill the contents around it, finally put a shallow layer on top of the container so that it is completely hidden. You may want to put a little surprise in the container for the recipient.

Choose your label for the jar carefully, do not give any clue to the true purpose of the jar, you can write an instruction sheet for the recipient, to explain that it is a hideaway jar. The style and contents of the jar can be suited to the recipient.

You live with your coworkers at least eight hours a day! Wouldn't you like to ask a few questions before someone is hired?

In this day and age of a Human Resources Department in a far distant land interviewing people for your new cube neighbor, I say the current residents of Cubeville be allowed to ask the really important questions. Who cares if she/he can type 100 wpm or set up a spreadsheet in a nanosecond, if that person is one of the most annoying creatures on the face of the earth? After all, the residents of Cubeville are the ones who will have to suffer with the newbie for eight hours a day until finally going totally insane, wigging out and losing the crumby job you hated anyway…

Do you clip your nails at work?

Living in the cube environment, not only is the sound disgusting, but also those nails can fly over a cube wall like a guided missile. Realizing that I was under attack by the new guy in the cube next door, I quickly had to cover my coffee and Danish to prevent contamination, while trying not to get my eye put out!

Do you have a desire to bond with your coworkers?

Take a good look around the office. What percent of these people come in with a hang over? Now take a good look at the working moms who either have their home nanny cam on their screen all day, or are on the phone screaming at the babysitter. Then there is a percentage of office workers either looking for a relationship either to replace the one they have, or for one to have on the sly. Do not be naïve; there are always some in every office. Then there is the group who live to stampede the hallways to the vending machines every morning and load up on 4000 calories to make it through to lunch. Do not forget the brown-nosers, or the ones who are just miserable human beings. These people do not want to bond with you. Nor do they want to come in ½ hour early every day to meet with you on a spiritual level. There will not be group hugs, or “sharing”.

Are you a “Holiday” person?

Are you on Hallmarks’ mailing list for every conceivable holiday on this planet? Do you use your attic to store all your “office” decorations? Have you been banned from any dollar store for scaring small children while grabbing every hokey decoration in the place? Do you buy Santa hats for all your coworkers and beg them to wear these fuzzy, fun filled hats every day from Thanksgiving until Christmas? Do you have 30 Christmas sweaters with matching earrings? Do you insist Christmas carols be played for 8 hours a day, every day? Perhaps living in Cubeville is not for you. Have you considered a job at Macy’s?

Is your voice mail greeting longer than the Gettysburg Address?

When another resident in Cubeville has the misfortune of having to call you, do they have to suffer through the following:

“Hello. You have reached Ms. Kimberly Suzanne Washington-Castrogiovanni, Senior Executive Administrative Assistant to Ms. Evelyn Grace Worthington-Warrington, Vice President of Research and Development in the Department of Complete Insanity, because by now you have left your phone and run off screaming due to the length of this voice mail greeting, but if by some chance you are still there, you may leave a message at the tone and I will gladly return your call just as soon as I finish my other call or return to my desk. Just leave your name, number, the time and a brief message, oh and have a great and blessed day! We have all heard them and have wanted to climb right through the phone and rip their lips off! Why do they do it? Is it a plot by our enemies to drive us insane? It is no longer a drive; it’s more of a short putt…

Does your entire family call your cellphone nonstop all day?

Do you have the most annoying ring tone you could possibly find? Despite answering it 50 times a day, you still forget where you left the phone and have to fumble finding it, while the rest of Cubeville is subjected to the ring tone of the Dukes’ of Hazard? Must your relatives call you at work and ask, “What ya are you doin?” to which you must reply, “nuthin”? Yes, we all know that you are not working, how could you be when you are on your cellphone all day.

Are you coffee making challenged?

The drink of choice in Cubeville is coffee. A rule of the community is, if you take the last cup, make another pot of coffee. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? It has taken the Cubeville community years of training to make sure all of the citizens are completely trained in the art of pouring a pot of water into the coffee maker and putting fresh grounds in the basket. No excuses, no lapses in memory, no burning pots left on, no office fires!

Do you bring your daily spending money with you every day?

Do not expect to be getting loans from the citizens of Cubeville. We no longer fall for that one. If you cannot remember to bring your own lunch or your lunch money, have the adult in charge of your supervision put it in your pocket before you leave home.

Are all of your relatives involved in any of the “work part time from home and make millions” selling schemes?

Cubeville has a no littering policy pertaining to those brochures advertising worthless junk that we already have filling the rooms of our homes. We have all been exposed to those folks that have either a mother, daughter, husband, 3rd cousin, or neighbor who wants you to hustle more Avon, Mary Kay, Amway, gift wrap, cookie dough or other stuff on your unsuspecting coworkers. Do not do it, you will quickly be shunned in Cubeville.

We all know what we’re looking for, when searching for that special someone. Good personality, sense of humor, and so on. But, what exactly is it that women aren’t in the market for?

Men who don’t wear enough, or any deodorant. Nothing is worse then smelly pits.

Hair growing in a man’s ears or nose. Okay, it happens to all guys, but keep it trimmed, ladies don’t like to see it.

Nothing is worse then long nasty finger or toe nails. I’m not saying paint them, just clip them…

Stop spitting all the time! Just don’t do it unless you have to.

The smell of sweat is a big turn off for a lot of women. Everyone sweats, but if you know you sweat heavily, wear a little cologne.

Dairy is an important part of our diet and help us to look radiant and healthy. Learn the facts about dairy and how to incorporate it into your daily diet with ease.

Now, more than ever, we are being educated as to ways we can improve our lifestyles and general health. There have been huge campaigns to advertise the benefits of eating five portions of fruit and vegetables a day as well as the importance of eating dairy products – and it is this that it very important when it comes to looking good.

It is advised that we include three portions of dairy each day. This may sound a lot but it is easy to include each and every day. One portion is the equivalent of half a pint of milk or a small pot of yoghurt (150ml) or 30g of cheese.

So what are the benefits to including these products in your diet? Well, firstly, consuming your three portions of dairy each day provides your body with the much-needed calcium that it needs for healthy bones and teeth. Calcium cannot be made by the body and so, it is vital that it is included in what we eat. Secondly, dairy products such as milk, cheese and yoghurt all include zinc, copper, riboflavin (Vitamin B), Vitamin A and essential amino acids. These help to keep your skin, nails and hair healthy and provide a noticeable difference in radiance.

It is a fact that a massive 75% of young girls do not consume enough dairy and, subsequently, they do not get enough calcium and essential minerals into their system. This may be due to a lack of knowledge as it has always been reported that dairy is fatty and can cause you to put on weight. In actual fact, eating the required amounts of dairy can help to sustain a healthy wait. It has also been researched and proven that people who consume enough dairy put on far less weight than those who do not eat sufficient dairy products. And do not be at all mislead when it comes to whole milk: it is only 4% fat as opposed to the widely believed 50%.

With such hectic schedules and demands on our time, it can often be difficult to think of ways to get these three portions into our day. At any age – as teenaged girls or as working women – we have fast-paced lives, and commitments and responsibilities that often make even eating properly a chore. So why not check out our recommended foods and see if you can incorporate them into your diet? All of them are quick and simple and will ensure you meet your daily requirements. It is also easy to add a portion or fruit or veg to each one, helping you meet your ‘five a day’ requirements. If you replace your usual snacks with these great-tasting ones, you will also reduce your fat intake for the day – another added bonus!

Our Recommended Snacks

Strawberry smoothie
Baked potato with cheese and ham
Quiche
Cheese on toast with tomatoes
Cheese and ham omelette
Hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows

You can buy any of these things from major supermarkets and so, there are no excuses for having an unhealthy lifestyle! But try to go for the low-fat options and this will help your body even more.

Remember: consuming adequate dairy products will see you looking – and feeling – much more healthy. And your bones, teeth, hair, nails and skin will thank you for it!
