Nero (37–68)
Nero (37–68), Roman emperor. Known as Nero Claudius Drusus Germanicus Caesar after his adoption by the Emperor Claudius in 50, he was, on his father’s side and by family name, Domitius Ahenobarbus, of the highest nobility of Rome. Through his mother, Agrippina the Younger, he was the great-great-grandson of Augustus. Nero’s father and grandfather were both notorious for cruelty and debauchery.
