When was the Berlin Wall built? Why was the Berlin wall built? and more answered below...

There were many factors contributing to Khrushchev’s plans to build a wall to separate the West and East of Berlin. Since neither side were willing to attack one another, Khrushchev built the wall to separate the two.

One of the main problems that Khrushchev was facing in Berlin was that East Berliners were moving over to the Western side, occupied by the Allies, so that they would have a better life in the wealthier capitalist side of Berlin with more civil liberties. The figures were as high as 200,000 a year.

The Soviets referred to the wall as an ‘anti-fascist protection wall’, this was because the wall was justified by being there to protect the East Germans from capitalism, but this was far from the reasons for building the wall. Khrushchev also believed that West Berlin as like the ‘testicles of the West’ and that if he places the Western sectors in danger, the West would give in to his demands.

Espionage from the Western countries was becoming a problem for the Soviets because the West Berlin sectors allowed spies to have a strong position deep inside communist control, the wall meant a physical boundary for the spies to face.

Khrushchev thought that he could get away with building the wall because Kennedy’s troops were outnumbered and they wouldn’t fight back and the US would not use nukes, just to protect a bit of land, despite the fact that Eisenhower said that they would use nukes to fight back.

Kennedy became the president in 1961 and was already being seen as able to be bullied and inexperienced, due to the ‘Bay of Pigs’, which was a heavy defeat for the US against communism. This meant that Khrushchev was willing to push further because he doubted the skills of the new president.

All in all, Khrushchev built the Berlin wall because of the embarrassing amounts of refugees fleeing the East sector and the his opinion that he could get away with it.

Occupiers are pulling out all the stops to help support their failing cause. When Leftists began appealing to the Bible, you know they’re in trouble. How many times have we heard that “religion and politics don’t mix,” “you can’t impose your morality on others,” or “there’s a separation of church and state”? These conservative prohibitions do not apply to liberals. Here’s one sign that claims Jesus would be protesting with them:

Obama is Not a Brown-Skinned Anti-War Socialist Who Gives Away Free Healthcare. . . You’re Thinking of Jesus.

My first response is simple: Call me when President Obama starts personally healing people. I would also like to see him turn water into wine and transform a few fish and bread into a feast that can feed 5000. If Obama could do that, then we wouldn’t need anybody to be taxed. In a word, there’s no comparison. Jesus didn’t take money from some people to give it to other people.

Jesus didn’t call for a tax on the rich, although He did personally confront a rich man to give his money away (Matt. 19:16–30; Mark 10:17–31; Luke 18:18–30). He never made this a requirement for every rich person and He did not call on Caesar or Herod to implement a tax on the rich to pay for healthcare.

Image via Wikipedia

Joseph of Arimathea was rich (Matt. 27:57). Jesus was buried in his tomb. Joseph was not compelled to give up his tomb. He did it voluntarily. Charity is not defined by compulsion. Governments can’t be charitable because they don’t have any money to give.

We know that God doubled Job’s riches: “And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the Lord increased all that Job had twofold” (Job 42:10). The “love of money is the root of all evils,” but money itself is not (1 Tim. 6:10). A poor person, an Occupier, the unemployed can love money even though they don’t have any.

There is no forced governmental altruism mandated in the Bible. Jackie Chiles is correct. There is no “Good Samaritan Law.” The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25–37) uses his own money to care for the robbery victim left for dead. This story cannot be used as a directive for social spending by governments. Jesus never calls on the State to act in an altruistic way. The State can’t be altruistic since it has nothing of its own to give. The eighth commandment applies to civil governors in the same way that it applies to self-governors. Neither is permitted to steal to help others.

You can’t be altruistic with other people’s money. Taking money from one group of people so you can give it to other people is not altruism, even if a majority of people votes for a program that does it. It’s theft. Theft by “majority rule” is still theft.

Civil governments are the biggest hindrance in helping the poor, and it’s not because they don’t tax enough and redistribute wealth. High taxes and control of the money supply enable civil governments to control people and their property. A ten percent tax is a sign of tyranny (1 Sam. 8:15), and yet the Occupiers believe in higher taxes on the rich to help the poor.

Maybe it's the fact that Halloween is my favorite month.

October can be called a transitional month for most of the Midwest. with October comes usually colder temperatures, Along with snow. But I look forward to October. Maybe its the fact that Halloween is my favorite holiday or the fact that there are so many activities to partake in. From the corn maze’s to the haunted hay rides October has a little of everything. There is nothing better than spending time around a bond fire among friends and family on a seasonable cool evening. To me no other month offers so many activities to offer. It’s almost like everyone goes into fast forward after October due to the Holidays. Take it or leave it no other month offers more activities than October.

This Halloween is going to be a little different for many people in the United States.

The reason: Snow. For most states along the Eastcoast, there is going to be snow on the ground. This snow will definetely still be there for October 31.

My recommendation is to dress up as an eskimo, or maybe a polar bear, or even a penguin, so then you can stay warm and still trick or treat.

This might also mean that some schools will be closed on Monday. Although unlikely, some schools use busses and will not be able to drive. My school for example is usually the last school to close, and if it does, then hell is freezing over.

A white Halloween. That’s scary.

This was an October Mourning....

He just stood at the door,

and what’s more,

there was that darkness in his eyes,

as the water would pour,

then it ended and the wind dries,

there was a hunger in his question,

that no one did understand,

it wasn’t as if he gave them a choice,

and at first no one understood the tone

of his crackling low voice,

though it chilled them to the bone,

but they remembered something odd,

something so dark and gloom,

as they turned back to the smoke filled room,

and only the survivors would cry,

there was such a noise going on,

that they could say good-bye…

only wordlessly,

then the reality would tell,

and their flesh would smell,

as the survivors remembered

their gestures of farewell,

in the brief moment

before the fire absorbed them,

was memorable for its grace,

the flames would race,

and the fire would erase,

Just taking a moment to reflect.

Here we are, halfway through October. The leaves are changing color here in Missouri, and the stores are putting out Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas products. Pumpkins and squashes show up in the supermarket, as well as corn stalks, chrysanthemums and hay bales. The usual debate over whether Halloween should be celebrated in public schools is on the news, side-by-side with reminders to be sure children trick-or-treat safely.

Friday, I went by my house to pick up the mail and do some yard work. Construction supplies had blossomed on the front lawn!

I am as excited as a child anticipating Christmas! While there, I harvested the mint and catnip beds rather than try to move them. They are nearly done for the season, and if they do not survive construction, I will start them anew next year. One of the sycamore limbs that had been an on-going concern had fallen — this one without causing damage. The tree continues to be a concern, but I was happy for it to have dropped this particular limb.

On Saturday, I went to the Maple Leaf festival in a nearby town to watch my grandson march with his school band. They placed third in their class, and did not make it to finals, but going to competition is still a good activity for talented youngsters.

This is the first weekend in two months that I have not been moving boxes, making phone calls and generally trying to get my home into some semblance of order. I don’t, as a rule, attend church; but Sunday has long been designated a day to rest and rejoice. Today, I shall do both.

If you are the fan of "Burnout Paradise" due to its crash mode and ability to wreck the city. Criterion Burnout Crash is the game....

Criterion Games famous for majorly their previous famous game “Burnout Paradise”, and afterwards need for speed “Hot Pursuit” came along with their new game. If you are the fan of “Burnout Paradise” due to its crash mode and ability to wreck the city. Criterion Burnout Crash is the game for you.

You might be thinking so what’s so new in it. Well, the good thing is you can play it with Microsoft’s Kinect Device.

To be honest it feels to me like they are pushing common game with Criterion and Microsoft name as well as trying to push technology. Just like Microsoft tried to push Vista by offering new hi-fi games only for vista (YAY! to marketing department). Anyway have a look and be the judge yourself.

Don’t worry if you have no idea about Kinect device. In few words its new motion sensing device from Microsoft that plugs in XBOX a console from Microsoft too.

Here is how it works.

The 10th month of the calendar year is October. This month has some great holiday celebrations and meanings throughout the thirty-one days...

October is the tenth month on the Gregorian calendar, and one of the months within the year that has 31 days. October used to be the eighth month on the Roman calendar.

October comes from the Latin word “octo” which means eight. When the Gregorian calendar was adopted, it became the tenth month of the year. It is one of the seven months with thirty one days.

Libra and Scorpio are the astrological signs for October. Birthdays from October 1st through the 22nd fall under the sign of Libra and those with birthdays from October 23rd through the 31st fall under the sign of Scorpio. The birthstone for October is the Opal and the Calendula is the flower designated to the month.

Football normally dominates the month of October, while hockey fans are excited as this month marks the beginning of the season, and we must not leave out Major League Baseball, as this sport is host to the World Series, which is viewed by millions. Normally, the NBA season will enter their pre-season practice games, however this year with the lockout, we will not enjoy that event until later in the year or perhaps not at all.

Columbus Day is on October 12th. This is the date Columbus arrived in the Americas in 1492. It has been a federal holiday since 1934. However, since 1971, the holiday has been celebrated on the second Monday in October.

In Canada, Thanksgiving is observed on the second Monday in October.

This October marks one year since Paranormal Activity 2 made it’s debut after the chilling franchise starter Paranormal Activity. Can a third film live up to it’s predecessors or maybe even surpass them? I’ve come across some videos on the net which seem to be a part of the films viral campaigning. Last year, the viral videos held “easter eggs” if you will, that got fans going crazy in anticipation over the long awaited film. There are no “easter eggs” in the form of hidden clips and photos played backwards (yet!) as PA2 videos had, however die hard fans (like myself, guilty!) who have watched these clips obsessively looking for clues have found many interesting hair raising secrets. Will you find them? Take a look at the videos, you won’t be disappointed! (;

(I found these videos on dreadcentral.com, check out their website!)

I grew up in Indiana, so fall was always a special time for me. I loved the cool, crisp mornings, the spectacular displays of color on the trees, and the crackle of leaves under my feet. We did a lot of camping as kids (ask me about my off-road motorcycle days sometime), but if pitching a tent and using a port-a-pot isn’t your idea of a good time, here are a few other activities for you to enjoy with your little princess.

October is National Popcorn Poppin’ Month. Yum! Have a popcorn tasting contest during family movie nights on Friday. Be sure to include the microwave as well as the stove top pan variety. Ask everyone to vote for their favorites. It’s ok if you have several!

Take a trip to the pumpkin patch. Do you ever outgrow the thrill of picking the perfect pumpkin? Instead of stopping by the grocery store this year, take your daughter to a real pumpkin patch and let her pick her pumpkin straight out of the field. Later that night, read It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! or help her carve her own Jack-O-Lantern.

Take an interest in trees. If the trees in your neck of the woods (pun intended) put on a colorful display this time of year, incorporate a little science by starting a leaf collection. It’s a great way to talk about photosynthesis and identify the trees that grow in your region. If not, go out on a limb of a completely different nature by starting a genealogy project. Any nuts growing on your family tree?

Volunteer at her school. October is National Go On a Field Trip Month. Ask your daughter’s teacher if you can chaperone an upcoming class trip. FYI: World Teacher’s Day is the 5th. Send a note of appreciation to school with your daughter.

Fire Prevention Week is 9-15. Does your family have an evacuation plan in the event of a home fire? Now is a great time to put one together. Find “how to” information online, or call ahead to see if you can visit a local firehouse together. FYI: Fire Pup Day is the 1st. If they have a dog at the station, ask if you can bring treats.

Be fan-tastic. Fall is a great time to hop on your favorite team’s bandwagon, no matter what the sport or activity. Cheer for your favorite football team, or attend a local high school ballgame and cheer for the band. Dress up in team colors, learn the players and have a tailgate in the front room. Learn the fight song. Sing it loudly. Create your own good luck hand shake.

Downsize and donate. Get a head start on spring cleaning by teaming up to clean out the garage and the basement. Take what you don’t want or won’t use anymore to the local Salvation Army or Mission. Involve your daughter in the process and explain why it’s important to share your blessings with others who are less fortunate than you. Want to do something on a bigger scale? Make A Difference Day is October 22. Find out how your community is participating and get involved.

Be a duet for Halloween. Costumes aren’t just for children anymore, you know. This year, plan to dress up as King Triton to your daughter’s Ariel, or Sandy to her Little Orphan Annie. Maybe even a glass of milk to her Oreo?

Be fearless together. Sometimes we are afraid of things simply because we don’t understand them. If your daughter has a fear of spiders and other creatures, go to the library and borrow a few books on the subject. Caterpillars are good subjects to study this time of year. Gently collect a few in bug-viewing containers (available at hobby and craft stores) to watch for a few days. Don’t forget to release them when you’re finished!

Go camping. (Sorry – couldn’t resist.) Even if you only go as far as your own backyard and roast marshmallows over the grill, you can still lie on your back and count the stars.

Feel free to share your stories and photos with other dads and daughters on The Cinderella Ball Facebook fan page. Remember, you are the most important man in your daughter’s life. From you, she learns what a good man looks like. Make sure she makes a wise decision when the time is right by spending quality time with her every day.
