Dealing with workload and organising yourself.

Keeping on track with all of your work can be a pretty challenging thing, especially if all your teachers only care about their subject. Recently I found myself struggling for any free time, I struggled to produce all work on time and when I did, it wasn’t the best quality.

The workload can sometimes be too much. There comes a point in every teenagers life where you’re fed up, exhausted and just cannot b bothered anymore. You’re not alone, everyone suffers when the work is just too much. You might envy the person who also comes prepared and focused, but the truth is, inside they’re as fed up as you are. Chances are, the homework they handed in was done the night before and wasn’t really all that good (speaking from experience here!).

Tiredness can make you irritable, it will affect your social life as you will become stressed and annoyed with everything. It will also affect your performance at school, as you won’t be able to focus in lessons.

Sometimes it will seem impossible to get everything done to a deadline. If that is really the case and you feel like you’re not keeping up, talk to your teacher or tutor. They might seem scary and strict, but they’re there to help you. Make it clear to them that you’re not just stalling because your lazy, but actually struggling with it. Don’t show up on the day of the deadline with the hopes of getting away with it, talk to them before it’s too late.

Organise yourself. That’s really the most simple thing. Still, though it might seem simple, some people struggle with it greatly (me included). The first thing to do is to list all of the tasks and the deadlines. Prioritise. Don’t do a task a week early, just because it’s easy, when you have an essay due in for tomorrow. Set aside time for yourself, e.g. a day without homework, an hour or two just to relax. Make breaks every hour, you don’t want your brain to overheat. Produce an action plan that you will be able to keep to.

Most of all, keep to your resolutions, there’s nothing worse than making big plans, and ditching them the next day (again, speaking from experience).

Tips in applying Feng Shui principles in a child's bedroom, for optimum results.

A child will benefit form having a bedroom filled with positive energy. Just like your own bedroom, a child’s bedroom should be a sanctuary and a place that promotes good sleep. By using Feng Shui you can create a peaceful and comfortable environment for your child.

Ideally a child’s bedroom should be located towards the rear of the home, where Chi energy is less active in the home. It is best to create a Yin atmosphere for a child’s bedroom by using; soft furnishings, carpets, lighting, music, mellow colours and plants, to promote feelings of security.

You may find the article, How to Balance Your Environment Using the 9 Sectors of the Bagua helpful in applying the following tips:-

Feng Shui Tips

As a child’s bedroom is often a mixture of two opposing elements, sleep verses play, organisation and storage are important. Ensure a well organised room and appropriate storage areas

A child should be encouraged to develop the habit of putting away toys after play or at bedtime. It helps them to learn how to create a sense of calm in their bedroom, and themselves

Maintaining the tidiness of the room helps a child to know where everything is and feel relaxed and safe

The decoration should be simple so it doesn’t overstimulate, to allow restful sleep. Active energy toys can be brought out at playtime

Try to limit the amount of electrical appliances in the room. Electrical equipment stirs up Chi energy and makes it more difficult to sleep. Hang an amethyst crystal in the room to absorb any negativity

Ideally, place a child’s bed where it is supported on two sides by walls, such as a corner. Choose a cot with solid ends or a bed with a headboard, which in Feng Shui equates to, ‘support’. Slats do not offer much support

Avoid placing the bed under a beam or shelves as this diffuses Chi energy, diminishing the quality of sleep

The area underneath the bed should be free from clutter to prevent Chi energy from becoming blocked, and affecting sleep

Avoid sharp edges on furniture. Everything should have clean lines and rounded corners, if possible. This is not only practically safe, but eliminates ‘cutting Chi’ energy in the room

From where the bed is located in the room there should be a clear view to the door, so that a child is not startled when someone enters

For older children, a bedside lamp will encourage reading. At any age, a family photograph visible from the bed will foster feelings of belonging

When we speak ,the speech is the message. When we write the writing is the message. When we gesture, face expression and the hand movements convey the message. In what way this communication helps in functioning of an organisation?

Communication servers mainly four purposes within a group or organisation

1) Control

      2) Emotional expression

      3) Motivation

      4) Information

Control :- Communication acts to control member behaviour in an organisation. Generally organisations have authority hierarchies and formal guidelines that the employees are required to follow. When employees are required to communicate any job related grievances to their immediate bosses, to follow their job guidelines, or to comply with company policies, communication is performing a control function. But informal communication also controls behaviour. When work group tease or harass a member who produces too much , they are informally communicating with , and controlling the members behaviour.

Motivation:-Communication fosters motivation by clarifying to employees what is to be done, how well they are doing, and what can be done to improve the performance if it is subpar. The formation of specific goals, feedback on the progress towards goals, and reinforcement of desired behaviour all stimulate motivation and require communication.

Emotional expression:-For many employees their work group is the primary source for social interaction. The communication that takes place within a group acts as a gateway for the members to show their frustration and feeling of satisfaction. Communication therefore provides a release for emotional expression of feeling and for fulfilment of social needs.

Information:- Communicating proper information in a group helps to make valuable decisions in an organisation. Different individuals give different ideas and the best can be selected among all the alternative choices.

None of these four functions should be considered more important than the other. For groups to perform effectively, they need to maintain some form of control over the others, stimulate members to function, provide a means for emotional expression and make decisions. All the communications that take place in a group performs one or more of these functions.

Don't lose faith, you'll keep the routine. Just make sure you keep up the pressure.

Every time we get into a routine, there is the initial euphoria of achievement and we can increase our routines to better prove we are able to do it.

But then after this period of loving this routine, we are begin the hump of the graph. We begin to become less enchanted with the activity we started.

When we begin an activity it is something new and interesting. It is a novelty. But when we’ve got the routine into our system, it becomes part of the boring thing that can be life.

This is when you need to keep on going. Self discipline is really important for the continued routine. If you can get back to the source of your discontent and remind yourself you wanted to do this activity, you will keep on going.

Basically we should remind ourselves of why we want to do the activity everyday. Then, once the activity becomes common place in your routine, it will just be part of it, rather than a time consuming activity that you ‘could’ dispose of.

Getting over that hump is the worst part of adding anything to your routine. But is is possible. Just use self discipline and determinating. Keep on going!

What is the scholastic criteria for successful learning outcomes, and by what methods are they measured such that one can determine if the criteria has indeed been satisfied? Merely possessing a university degree is not enough evidence that a person has useful knowledge, attitudes and skills and knows how and when to apply them. There are many ways to bypass actual learning and just focus on results and credits that have nothing to do with scholastic knowledge. Greed, sadly, has overcome morality and the value of knowledge in the modern educational institution.

As an academic, many students consult me in my office as to how to shortcut their way through a degree course or unit without actually doing it. They do not value knowledge for its own sake, and for what they can create and do with it, rather they only want status, security and wealth; all the things that they think come with having a job that pays them well for doing very little. In a world where machines and computers increasingly function so we do less, one expects that the internet, computer or some content management system (CMS) will be doing most of the work. Software developers influence educational techniques. One pushes the appropriate button at the right time, and hey presto! they get a paycheck at the end of the week. What have they learnt? People are sometimes so scared and anxious about their prospects of success, lacking in confidence, that they tend to put effort into finding a shortcut, a way around them having to actually learn and contribute. They feel they have to cheat to succeed at their goal, which is often tied to what ones parents want for them. One might avoid letting their parents down by cheating their way through school rather than facing their own weakness directly. Much modern behaviour is aimed at drawing attention away from what people really need, pretending to an autonomy that they do not really have.

Only those special people on TV can actually do anything, they think. One may believe they are not really able to achieve anything important in life, so they do not try. Instead, like a sly fox, they seek ways to get what they want for free, and to make everything appear successful by manipulating the signs and social codes which both indicate and drive the competition of status. Status symbols are clearly more important to some people than happiness, care and love, since they often forfeit them to gain it. That is, the lazy and greedy people want all the benefits that come with creative intelligence, but do not wish to change themselves in any way at all for it. These people live their lives like spectators; they enjoy reality TV shows, and false competitions like ‘Idol’ or X Factor. But their prospects are diminished by the mental laziness that has been learned as a result of technological advancement. Remember that the advertising business functions by creating the desire for a product within the subject’s mind (body), because they know that they are more likely to eventually select that product from amongst the competition (if there is any) at the supermarket or shop. As long as enough people buy the product to make a profit, then they are successful. They think only in terms of large numbers of people and their ability to convert that into sales and so profit. For a business model, the individual (that’s you) does not, despite the way it is advertised and packaged, exist. It is not about the individual customer, but custom. If you reject their product, they do not care, for there is always another sucker coming down the street (or internet connection).

Businesses pretend to cater for a need, but they are only exploiting what they believe you will do as a result of their s. The theory of business practice is amoral. Business is about profit, not care and love. In the modern technological world of internet marketing, email and mobile phones, it matters not what product one sells, only that an exchange has taken place for which you receive financial gain. The more that people are convinced that a business is there for them, to help them, to ‘bring people together’, and to provide or promise more satisfaction for them in life, the more fooled they are. The ‘economy’ is a word that describes a dynamic process of exchange, but it says nothing about the content or quality of that exchange. One internet surfer is a mere number in a highway of countless millions who are seeking to quench their desire but only succeed in stimulating it, increasing the number of objects that one seeks possession and control of, so as to enjoy. It is the customer’s satisfaction that they depend on, but it is the owners satisfaction or anxiety in the absence of it, that drives it. More precisely, it is the greed of so many that fuels the volatile world financial markets, but it is not the lucky who gain most, but those who are most ruthless and pragmatic, who do not care about moral and emotional issues or the attitudes of other people towards them. IThe economy is volatile because of our narcissistic greed, and this selfishenss is evidence for what I call ‘our Narcissism.’ But corporations, banks, governments and businesses operate on principles that are inhuman at their core. They thrive on peoples suffering and loss. The risk and the labour belong to individuals, who with their different motivations will tolerate certain things in order to gain what they desire.

But what we as human beings lose in the bargain is in fact the very basis of our humanity. Compassionate acts, altruistic behaviour and the offer of assistance to the less fortunate amongst us are ways that our true self is expressed, but these can be, and sometimes must be, suppressed so that one can ensure their own survival first and foremost. The morality of education and government ought to reflect that of the people, but it does not. Rather it reflects the pragmatics of the economic imperative; a rationalisation that values money, energy and time above people. It is a guiding principle that applies increasingly to everything we do nowadays. But this system or method of operation is itself managed by self deceived narcissists who hide behind protocols and language that obscures the immorality which lies at the heart of their enterprise. Emotion, even though it is associated with the driver of all behaviour, is not a factor that can quantified, unless it is in the form of an ‘experience’ (like a movie, or game). By selling ‘the experience’, the businessmen sidestep all the moral issues that stem from the use of the products that are making us desire, curious about, or plainly think we must have – iff we are to be like x (when to be different is undesirable, one tends to sameness, not individuality).

Since when did banks become our friends? When did banking become a family freind, who advise ansd makes possible all those ideal and desired things that people learn to want for themselves. Careers, despite the claim of selfless motivations, are designed to satisfy the same needs as everyone else. Only a Vocation in life can make up for the unthinking surrender to the powers of the logic of the the consumer, whcih drives an economy of desire that is only spent in acts which have the motive of greed attached to them, although diguised behind well meaning and good intentions. The concept of Narcissism shows us that all intentions are of the thrust of which narcissistic behaviour is symptomatic. That is, it is to your own satisfaction that your actions and judgments are fashioned, however indirectly.

So if you run an institution such as a university on the basis of the financial imperatives of rationalism, then it works against the very individuals who it serves. Education cannot be conducted as a ‘product’ in exchange for money. If that was the case, then the student would have reasonable expectations of being awarded their qualification no matter what they did. They paid, thus they will get their degree. Since it is about getting it, and not about what has been learned at school or university and what one can therefore contribute as a result of it but about how easily and without real effort get what they want. The role model is that person who does not have to try, who is always cool and who always gets the girl (or guy), the job and the kudos. Only a person with no moral fibre could live life that. The need to control all the factors that affect successful outcomes means little time for caring and sharing. It is all about how they can rationally and without guilt or shame, exploiting other people without them complaining about it. If they complain, then they are dropped. Jst so, when one complains to the telecommunications company about the poor service, reception, cost and signal strength of ones mobile phone then you will be put into a pre-prepared self help course, called ‘frequently asked questions’ or FAQs. But if the problem you are having is not on the list, then you will not be helped by their systems. In fact you will be put into a category where they either placate you, or try to sell you another product. The untypical, individual problems you may be experiencing do not, for all intent and purposes, exist.

If the problem does not exist, then they do not have to fix it. They know that we know to expect problems to occur, it is only natural that human error will enter the scene. But these are computers, and they have not been perfected yet, and possibly will never be. We are the guinea pigs, who will be fattened up and milked regularly. We are governed, like cattle, to be controlled by greedy men. We are not the customers, we are the reason for their existence. In a world of 5 billion people one person means little. But the world is only ever experienced through the lens of an individual mind, with needs that are uniquely their own. Catering to such need can only be an individual act which is not necessarily a conventional one. What is the cause of the conventional if not the lack of uniqueness, creativity, and thus individuality?.

Policies that ensure that the highest human values are the guiding force for all social and technological change is difficult because of the pace of change. This pace is driven by the same greed that started it all in the first place: the narcissistic thrust for self preservation and satisfaction. Pretending that one is acting on noble motives whilst harming all the while succeeds as a strategy because people remain ignorant of what is involved in the choices they make. So focused on their own needs are they that most do not even notice when their uniquely chosen solutions to their suffering and anxiety (alcohol, drugs, escapism,) do not work any more. The great and good values which underlie the noblest aims of the human spirit have been suppressed by the lure of easy answers, easy solutions, and easy money. None of these, however, will bring happiness on their own. No-one can achieve happiness on their own, except the habitual masturbator who knows nothing better, since s/he has no urge to seek more than what s/he has already. But we are all incomplete; we need the other to make us who we are; reflected entity which is subject to the rule of convention. Yet it is creative invention and new ideas which are prized above all else. However, the urge and motivations for creative invention are being quelled in the loss of the true purpose of academic relationships in the service of the logic of business. The value of knowledge is not commensurable to monetary terms. The main thing is to attract research funding, not to come up with new and challenging ideas that change the world. Therefore all the universities and schools are working from the wrong basis. It is the creation of an environment that gives rise to new ideas and perspectives, that promotes ways to understand the other and share the pain as well as the joy of living with others free from the imperatives of the greedy political elite, whose guaranteed income insults those who are too poor to become educated.

Are you rich or poor, upper class or lower class
says who.

Why is there an upper and a lower class (aren’t we all equal)

There is a popular saying that all men are created equal, I beg to disagree; all men are not created equal. We are not created equal in the sense that we all have different abilities, physical features and taste. There are vessels of honor and vessels of dishonor according to the good book.

Adopting the mindset that we are all created equal will cause one to believe that he is entitled to what another person has and will result in one feeling cheated. We have to understand that we are all different for a purpose and we have to capitalize on that difference. We tend to view other differences as if it superior to another. The perfect example would be the skills and ability of a senior office executive versus someone in the operating the machinery in a factor.

What is interesting is that human’s has only three basic need, food, clothing and shelter. These three needs are vital for our survival, one cannot survive without them. However the persons with the skills to produce these are not rewarded as much as the persons who are supply other needs (wants). This is so due to the lack of unity on the part on these individuals. If these individual should unit then they would realize who has the superior ability. They would be able to demand a just reward for their production and be extension their contribution to the economic welfare.

The rich man is only rich because the poor makes if rich. The rich man has a lot yet he can’t build anything. The poor farms and build houses but they are not able to live or enjoy the equivalent of what the produce. This is achieved through an “organization” , an organism that benefits the person who controls it more that those who are simple a part of it. If the poor should decide to organize or unite or create and organism that can produce would be fairly rewarded.

Having the control of these organisms is what brings a reward for labour. If each person within an organization was rewarded based on his contribution poverty would soon decine.

Now why is there an upper and a lower class. Because the lower class views the ability of the upper class as superior to them but it not superior it only different. We can’t continue to view the language, the community, the sports, the dress code and all of the “upper class” as superior to yours. Then you will become servants wanting when you possess already better.

Hitler youth in the 1930s.

Hitler youth

Before Hitler was elected chancellor in 1932, the Hitler youth was already a small growing organisation of 100,000 members, it was very biased and cunning. Nazis manipulated the way children spent their leisure time, by 1934 the Hitler youth had grown to become the largest youth movement in world history and have over 3,500,000 members. The Hitler youth was aimed at young children so that everything they would be taught until they left school would be mastered and could be used in wars to conquer more land.

The Hitler youth had simple beliefs and when Hitler was elected chancellor he had the power to make the organisation grow. Hitler wanted the Hitler youth to last 1,000 years and all of the beliefs to be carried on to eventually become normal Nazi ideals. The main objective of the Hitler youth was to educate children in the arts of war in fun ways that they would like it, and this would mean children would be more than happy to join them. They wanted children to know nothing but Nazi beliefs so that they had less hassle from elder, more educated people who knew what was really going on.

The Hitler youth became compulsory in 1939, it was split up into two groups, the Hitler Jugend for the boys and the league of German maidens for the girls. The youth had aims to train boys up to be unstoppable soldiers, girls to be good housewives and give birth to perfect Nazi babies.

Nazis formed children’s ideas into learning about war and how to be a perfect soldier, the children were taught about strategies, once they came up with strategies they had to put them into action to see if they worked, this was really effective as children kept fit from running and grew more intelligent from learning effective strategies, solving puzzles related to war and creating ultimate strategies. The students did not know what was going on, they saw it as a fun activity but really they were being prepared for war.

Young Nazis were also made aware of racial differences through propaganda, Nazis wanted children to be passionate about their race and believe they were the best and nobody else can beat them. Young adolescence would believe anything they were told, therefore it was very easy to educate the children the way they wanted.

History was looked at in particular ways so that it made Germany out to be strong and successful, pupils were taught about everything that Germany has done in the past that made them great. Young Nazis were only taught the things that made Germany successful so that they were proud of their country and want to fight with passion to keep it that way. Geography was also linked to the history of Germany, they were taught about Germany’s land boundaries and how much they had lost due to the treaty of Versailles, the way in which they were told about this made uneducated minds believe only one side of the story. Biased stories made young Nazis who didn’t know any better believe in the country even more and develop a hate for the other countries that were involved in the treaty and the countries that took away large proportions of their land.

Children were introduced to armaments to get them familiar with what they would be using after they left school, they were made to learn about weapons, how they worked and then use their knowledge in war games and team building exercises, all of this would be taught in camps which young children would like to do rather than be in a school.

Maths was intelligently altered to teach children problems and calculation, this was not a big issue but Germans used examples such as bombing Jews and killing handicapped people, Nazis used these people as examples because they believed they were inferior and they knew nobody would oppose this way of education because of the consequences they would suffer.

Not only was it boys who were trained in this way but young women were taught about injuries and how to treat them, this was so that when they left school they could become nurses in the army and help aid the wounded soldiers in need, if there were no nurses a lot of soldiers would die from injuries and disease would spread across armies. Girls were also taught the vital duties of being a good house wife, they were to be good house wives and do all the work for the men who would be fighting for their country. They were also involved in physical activities which included gymnastics to make them graceful and fit to have many healthy babies who would later grow up to be perfect soldiers.

Nazis wanted children to learn all of these things so that they would use everything they were taught to fight for their country with passion and win so that they could conquer foreign lands and expand their empire, Hitler had ideas to make pure Germans live in these countries to overrule the people who lived there before. Hitler wanted to conquer countries like Poland and Russia he hated these countries, thought they were inferior and believed that they should be wiped out. With children knowing all of the basics of war at such a young age, they would grow up to only know more and they would be able to achieve Hitler’s dreams.

Organisations exist to stifle ingenuity. They exist to amalgamate human beings into the collective bland, transforming cats into sheep and gaining the mandate to do nothing, or do it badly.

Most Organisations, be they public or private, be they for profit or charity, be they military or religious follow certain rules.

The First Rule is Exclusivity.

Organisations exist to keep other people out. It is not that you are a member it is that others are not members. It is very important to make those who are not members feel deficient. Even if the club is for those who failed geography, the fact that there are others who haven’t been invited to join is where the joy comes from.

The Second Rule is to Insure Nothing Gets Done.

Sure there’s plans and programs, and a slurry of activities but one person acting alone would be able to complete the year’s agenda in a weekend.

This is the core purpose of Organisations; to maintain mediocrity and enforce lethargy. To make everything climbing Mount Everest even if it’s an inch high.

The Third Rule is to Develop Bureaucracies

Sure it is far easier to pick up a phone and call and make an order. But this is not how it is done. One must gain the approval of a Name then approach an Officer who will examine the request and then pass it on to the Implementer.

The Implementer will insure that all rules are followed, all approvals are on the correct form, all requests are properly phrased. If there is any doubt, the matter will be passed back up the line for the flaws to be corrected or for clarity.

Hence, where a human being could call the Pizza parlour and order a double cheese with anchovies, an Organisation is incapable of such action.

The Fourth Rule is that once you join you can’t Quit.

To dare to quit is a declaration of war. It will have every member going after you as hungry sharks. You can cease to attend meetings, you can be absent from functions, you can virtually erase the organisation from your life, but you can never ever quit.

To function in an Organisation requires the same effort put into a coma. Remember, if something was to be done, an organisation would never have been formed to do it.

Briefly, to let people know how to organize their lives on a everyday schedule.

When we were kids, we found the easy way out by hiding under the bed, in a closet, or somewhere out in the woods, so that nobody would see you. A way that we knew how to deal with responsibility.

Now we got to face reality, grown older, we must think differently. Living on this planet that is getting more and more complicated, we have to face up to responsibility.

With so much to do life has become demanding, raisinga family, paying the bills, worrying about close family, trying to be successful in your career, and keeping up on schedule with daily chores.

Make life simpler by taking responsibility for all your work.

Never volunteer to do work for others this will bring you down, it will be too much to handle.

If you have free time at your work place be cautious, train someone to their job, check your emails get organised for the next day, it would only make your life easier.

Get to see movies to stay hip. Be able to listen to the radio, make friends and be sociable.

When getting organised at your office throw away all unwanted paper, keep important documents on file, don’t keep clutter, you tend to get attached to clutter easily.

Simple things you can do with your computer, like booking your flights, paying your bills, build your own library, communicate with anyone you want to.

Handling chores in a simple way, mowing the lawn, cleaning of your home, washing your car, can all be done by hiring someone who is trustworthy a gardener, or housekeeper.

To keep track of everything to-do at home a good way is to start a new list everyday.

In this way you will be organised and know what is to be done on a daily basis and there will be no clutter.

The power of simple lists and how they allow all of us to really manage our time.

In a busy hectic schedule things, stuff needs to be done and if like me you let them pile up maybe you should consider the power of the list.

Taking time out form a busy hectic day and making a “to do” list is probably the most productive thing we can do.

Think about, for example if you’ve ever been shopping with or without a list!

Without the list we can wander from aisle to aisle, buying stuff we probably don’t need, forgetting priorities and items we definitely do.

Then consider the simple shopping list.

The humble list keeps us on track, ensures we spend time choosing what we really need and maintains our focus.

The same can be said for all activities the production of a simple to do list and then put into order of priority is quite possibly the most powerful management tool invented.

Tomorrow, before you start work take time to make a prioritized list of all your activities it will renew your focus and I guarantee you will be a lot more productive.

At the end of the day you have the basis for the next days work schedule.

Such a simple process overlooked by so many who then wonder on their drive back home each night ”What have I really done today?”

Start that LIST now, try it for a week and you really will notice the difference
