Labor Board

No matter where you live, the state labor board is probably hopelessly underfunded, overworked, and disorganized. Many of my fellow employers view this as a benefit. It means, for one thing, that they are much less likely to be subject to random labor board inspections, fines, fees, and the like. In reality, however, this is not the case. Labor law, you see, doesn’t just protect employees. If you think about it, it protects employers as well. In my workplace, I have labor law posters everywhere. They are not just to remind workers, but to remind me too. By ensuring that I stay up to date on OSHA standards, acknowledge labor rights, and make sure that my workplace is free of any type of discrimination or harassment, I protect the future security of my business. Sometimes, after all, it only takes one lawsuit to shut you down. Your job is to make sure that lawsuit never comes.
