Perhaps in your Science or Geography lessons, you have learned solar energy is one of our alternative energy resources. By detecting the sunlight by the panels, then there are some process turning the light to electricity. Nevertheless, you have to change your good thoughts towards solar energy now!

Solar energy regarded as one of the alternative energy resources. Unlike the others, it is light and easy to use. Even if you put them on the roof of your house, it doesn’t matter. And it provides you free electricity every day.

If I were the environmentalist, I would also choose solar power for alternative use. It requires a very small piece of land and can generate a splendid amount of electricity of the citizens. For the environment, if you can find a vacant land but it is sunny all the time, it won’t disturb the marine life or the organisms on land. No pollution produced in the processes. Nevertheless, if I were one of the governors, I would absolutely reject this project. Do you know why?

In fact there is a dirty reality behind solar power. Recently, Tony Blair and the film star Jet Li announced an ambitious plan to bring modern, clean power to the poor. Now I won’t spend time on telling you which regions can enjoy this privilege. (If you want to know more about that, you can search the mews article on the search engines.) In fact, do you know how to produce these solar panels? They are only 1 metre by 1.5 metres each, but they have to burn more than 40kg of coal to produce one.

What would Blair and Jet do if they know that? Will they recommend installing these panels anymore?

I don’t know the answer. For you, you may think 40 kg is not a enormous number. Yes, you are right; 40 kg is not a big number. In fact, the resources supply is a lot more than this number. But, do you know this 40 kg of coal can be generated 130 kilowatt-hours of electricity? It is absolutely enough for using 30 years. But the design of this kind of solar panels just last for 20 years!

Making this kind of solar panels is not a bad idea. It can improve the living standard of the poor. At least, they can do housework at light. They can study at light. And they can enjoy using free electricity. But is it a good method? Rationalize thinking is a must. If only can improve their living standard, but waste the resources of people around the world, it becomes unreasonable!

The ups and downs of solar panels.

The Good

You will save energy AND money by converting your home to solar power. Sometimes your utility company will pay you for the excess electricity that you might generate, thus allowing you to make money while saving the planet! Plus, your property values will increase when you use alternative energy sources to power your home. The government also provides tax credits for certain solar applications.

The Bad

Even though you might think that you are helping the Earth, you should make sure that the panels were manufactured in an Eco-friendly manner. Unfortunately, there are some companies that are only in for the money and while the creating the panels, they generate more green-house gases. Wait! That is one of the reasons that we started using solar panels in the first place, to reduce green-house gases! The initial set up costs can be too expensive for most homeowners, up to $30,000 to professionally outfit a household. Sometimes you will even have to get a zoning variance, even though it would be an unwanted hassle.
