According to one of our senior most cabinet ministers, the big business persons should not be arrested and sent to jail. He thinks this may discourage the investors to invest in India. This is dirty politics.

Are they above the law?

People ask weather any one should be above the parliament. My question is weather any one should be above the law. That includes even the parliament and parliamentarians. The way the parliamentarians in our country are behaving. They should be, taught a lesson to behave with immediate effect, irrespective of party they belong to, government or opposition.

Only recently, a main cabinet minister has advised our highest law enforcing body to keep away from sending the top industrial people jail and should not arrest them on their financial crimes. He thought that if they will be arrested no one would like to invest here in India. This is ridiculous and against the law especially coming from the minister of central cabinet.

I was on my way to Delhi a couple of days back to take the flight from Indira Gandhi airport and saw an ordinary member of parliamentarian zipping past the traffic from the wrong side of the road, with all his escort cars and security staff hooting the siren on full. Is he above the law and has he over privileged just because he is a MP.

Should the big business persons go Scot-free doing any thing just because our political economics gives them special rights?

Image via Wikipedia

No every one has the same law here and this should not be, allowed at any cost, and we shall have to teach them how to behave like law abiding citizens and parliament is not above the law, rather they are more responsible and should be role models for ordinary citizen. This is still time to mend their ways before public teach them to behave.

It is a description of second part of speech The Pronoun.

2. PRONOUN

The words used in place of nouns are called pronouns e.g. Mr. Bukhari is a good writer. (Noun)

He writes about common things. (Pronoun)

‘He’ is used here instead of Mr.Bukhari, so ‘he’ is a pronoun.

Pronoun can be used as subject or an object.

KINDS OF PRONOUN

POSSESSIVE PRONOUNS

These are used instead of possessive nouns. For example: instead of Aslam’s book, his book, can be used.

PERSONAL PRONOUNS

Such pronouns are used for the subject or object. There are three persons of personal pronoun.

Subjective Possessive Objective

case case case

Ist Person I, we my, our me, us

2nd Person you your you

3rdPerson he, she, it, they his, her, its, their him, her, it, them

NOTE: ‘It’ is used for such things which are neither masculine nor feminine. We cannot differentiate its gender.

REFLEXIVE PRONOUN

This shows that the work has been done by the subject. Reflexive pronoun is formed by adding ’self’ or ’selves’ to the personal pronoun. For example: Yourself, Himself, Itself etc. This is always used as object of the sentence but reflects the subject. Subject and object in this case are the same e.g. I did it myself. (These are used after the verb.)

INTERROGATIVE PRONOUN

This pronoun is used to ask question. For example,

1. Who gave this letter to you?

2. What is this?

3. Which is your book?

The interrogative pronouns have generalising forms as follows: Whoever, Whichever; What; also introduces exclamation. What a pretty doll is it!

RULES FOR CORRECT USE OF PRONOUNS

1. The apostrophe is the signal of ownership. But when it is used with a noun, the possessive form of personal pronoun never takes an apostrophe. e.g. Every incoming item has its own place, if it is misplaced the fault is yours. (Not your’s)

2. If a noun or a pronoun precedes a gerund, the noun or pronoun must be in the possessive case. For example, Can you imagine Aslam’s being late, (A gerund is a verb form ending in ‘ing’ used as noun,)

For example: 1. Swimming is a good exercise. 2. Walking is good for health.

3. Any pronoun that is the subject of a verb is in the subjective case. e.g. I like apples. If there are more than one subject, they too, are of subjective case as: Majid and he are fine workers.

4. A Predicate Nominative is a noun or pronoun that completes the meaning of a verb (be) (is, am, are, was, were, be and been). Any pronoun that is the predicate nominative is in the nominative case. For example, Yes, this is he. (’He’ completes the meanings of is). It must have been they after all. (They).

5. Any pronoun that follows and completes the meanings of the infinitive (to be) when it has no subject of its own is in the subjective case. For example: Who would ever wish to be I (Before to be there is no subject, so ‘I’ is used.

6. When there is a ’subject complement’ objective case is used as: The receptionist mistakenly thought the visitor to be us.

7. The objective case of personal pronoun is used when the pronoun is one of the following:

            1. The object of a verb or a preposition.

            2. The subject or object of an infinitive (O. V.)

e.g., Ali introduced him at the meeting. (O. V.)

Whom did he introduce? (O. V.)

Ali was introduced by her. (O. P.)

Would you like to help me? (O. I.)

8. Pronoun after Than or As

            1. After ‘than’ subjective case of pronoun is used. e.g., He is better than I.

            2. After ‘as’ objective case of pronoun is used. e. g., He is as efficient as her.

9. Reflexive pronouns should reflect the subject as: e. g. Ali mentally gave himself a pat.

10. The indefinite pronoun, ‘One’ should not be followed by ‘his’ but by ‘one’s’. For example:

One should do one’s duty. etc.

11. The pronoun must agree in number, person and gender with the noun to which it refers. e.g. Neither he nor his friends has done that. etc.

12. The word ‘as’ is always used after ’such’ as relative pronoun. For example: His behaviour was such as could not be pardoned. etc.

13. After ’same’ the relative pronoun takes the form of ‘as’ or ‘that’. e.g. This is the same book as yours. etc.

14. A positive adjective should not be used for a pronoun combined with a preposition. For example:

            Your separation distresses me. (Incorrect)

Separation from you distresses me. (Correct)

15. If 1st, 2nd and 3rd persons come together, the following order is used.

            For good action = 2nd – 3rd – 1st Persons.

You, he and I are friends.

            For bad action = 1st – 3rd – 2nd Persons.

I, he and you are smokers.

16. Pronouns should not be omitted after transitive verbs. For example :

As soon as I entered the room, he asked to sit down. (Incorrect)

As soon as I entered the room, he asked me to sit down. (Correct)

As has happened with other natural disasters such as earthquake in New Zealand or those produced in Chile or Haiti, the Internet giant has set up a website to help you find missing persons.

The site, http://japan.person-finder.appspot.com/?lang=en, you can search missing persons in a database that is being created by users themselves using the name of the missing.

If matches are found with the name written in the form displayed a profile of that person with information that other users or family members have been added and the ability to continue providing data.

If no match with the existing base, the site lets you enter details and a message to the missing person.

Users can also leave information about themselves to their loved ones or add information about another person. For the moment, there are signs up 1,000 created.

Google created the search engine people in collaboration with the U.S. State Department after the earthquake that devastated Haiti in January 2010. Since then he has created websites for those affected by the earthquake in Chile in February and the earthquake that hit China in April.

A quick glance at the various personalities which fill an organization.

Whether a major corporation or brownie troop, particular personalities rise or fall to the occasion. There is a need for the manager to identify these persons and neutralize them to prevent deleterious effects on the structure as a whole.

For example, take one I call ‘The Martyr’. This is often the person who has to do everything alone and
behaves as if it wasn’t for him/her nothing would be accomplished.

The effect of this person on the group is demotivational. Firstly, in the need to ’suffer’ the Martyr discourages others from participating. This is done by making others feel more than unnecessary.

To give a byte of this personality;

The P.T.A. was holding its yearly Award Dinner. Saundra, as usual, was in charge. New Parents who did not know that Saundra had to do everything volunteered to help. They arrived at the time they were appointed to see Saundra half-way complete, and when they asked what they could do were relegated to passing her items, or having anything they attempted, from stringing crepe to setting a table redone by Saundra.

This led to less people participating and feeling resentment. Hence, let her do it became the shrug, and persons who would have been of service felt more annoyance than community spirit.

At this point, Saundra could say; “No one wants to help” quite honestly.

The danger of having a Martyr in an organization is that his/her behavior makes other feel unnecessary and destroys the feeling of belonging in a group. Nothing glues people together better than sharing the work, feeling they made a difference. When one person decides to do everything the excluded persons feel that they have no contribution to make.

This can be avoided by breaking every task into two parts, one given to the Martyr, the other to a group. In the case of the Award Dinner, Saundra should have been assigned to the preparation of food and food alone. This would allow those who wanted to participate to decorate the room.

Martyrs have a particular pathology which must be limited to avoid the situation where the rest of the group sits back and says; “Let Saundra do it.” This is not laziness or disassociation, this is a remark made by persons who feel excluded. Persons who feel excluded detach from the organization. They stop seeing themselves as members.

Few things are more devastating to organizations than members who disassociate.

Success and failure can make you dance to their tunes if they wish to. How you combat it is up to you... So reach for the stars because even if you do fail, you will land on the moon.

Reach for the stars, even if you fail, you’ll land on the moon. There’s nothing special about that phrase. Some might have heard it before and others would say it’s a bit clichéd. But when you are 14 and uninspired in a maths lesson, a tiny A5 sized poster on the wall is enough to get you to give up the slouch, sit up straight and probably concentrate a bit more on what the teacher is saying.

I read that message on an A5 sized poster in my maths lesson when I was 14. 3 years on, and now, my subject choices couldn’t be any less related to maths. It’s amazing how when you are 14 and you think you know everything (or maybe you don’t) but suddenly one message on a piece of paper is enough to get you thinking in a more mature way. Despite what other people might say, I’ve always lived by the message: Reach for the stars, even if you fail, you’ll land on the moon. Today, if there’s something that has made me the person I am, it’s that single message.

Success is a fickle friend. Aim for it with one solitary arrow, and it will try to dodge you constantly. Aim for it with multiple consecutive arrows, mark my words, it will stay fixed where you want it to stay. I’m not a successful person. Of all of the things I’ve done till now, that success is measured only according to me. But it’s my belief that all of these little successes that I’ve had all my little life, will probably group together to make a bigger impact and maybe then I will really reach the stars.

A lot of people get bogged down by failure. A fairly successful person will feel that failure is a measure of how badly they’ve done. A very successful person will realise that failure is actually a reality check telling them where they’ve gone wrong. How you look at success is up to you but the difference between some people and the others is that some people look at failure as a cul de sac. The others look at failure as a cul de sac with tiny hole in the corner, through which they can squeeze themselves even if it means they have to force themselves through it several times.

My message for all of you is if you find that at some point in life, things aren’t going well for you, keep telling yourself that it will be okay because it is that thought that will actually make stuff better. If you are weighed down with failure, keep trying because maybe the success you gain from trying won’t be astronomical, but hey, it will be some success at least!

I leave you with this little anecdote that should get you thinking. Thomas A. Edison, inventor of the light bulb was experimenting with filaments for the light bulb to find the perfect one. After many tries a helper at his laboratory asked him to give up with the filaments because they had tried nearly 10,000 and they had failed. Edison replied : “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

About success and what happens after success. We concentrate so much time trying to achieve success that we often forget what happens when we do achieve it and what happens after that.

Success is a very powerful tool. To get to success is a long winding path filled with the occasional carpet of roses or blankets of thorns. You never know what you will come across on the trial filled path to success. A lot of people spend a lot of time wondering on how to get to that success. Everyone’s definition of success varies though. For some people learning to drive might be success. For others, success is only defined when they are the CEO of some multi-national company. Even though a lot of people give tips, thoughts and advice on reaching that peak of success, a lot of the times, they forget all what they have already been successful in. Many people think success is a good thing, but that’s always not the case because success yield results both positive and negative. It all depends on how you define success.

The point I’m getting to is, take a child star like Britney Spears. At the age of 8, after being said ‘no’ from The New Mickey Mouse Club, she went on to do a lot of Broadway performances and finally, at 11, ending up in The New Mickey Mouse Club. Ever since she was a child, Britney has tasted every corner of success, drenching herself in the success she’s received. Her success is determined by the fact that ever since she was a child, she was destined to be a popular name. Now, at 28, Britney isn’t quite as cutesy as everyone used to imagine her as. Now, we associate Britney as someone who struggles to keep on track in terms of where her pop star career is concerned. Even though at the end of the day, Britney is still one of the world’s most popular people, bad blotches in her past don’t always make her everyone’s favourite. You could blame this on multiple things, but I think the starting step to her steady downfall was the success she first acquired.

Take another instance, Bill Gates. At 13, he coded his first software program. Tic-tac-toe. Later on, he continued to show his IT prowess by joining a company dealing with traffic counters. At 18, he became a congressional page at the U.S. House of Representatives, the year when he graduated from his school with a 1590 out of 1600 in his SATs. From the very start, Bill hasn’t been bathed in eternal success but he has had his success and that has only made him stronger. Despite the glitches he’s had in his past which included being banned from using computers due to violation through the exploitation of bugs in the system, he still made himself a pretty successful future and is today, one of the worlds well known IT and business brains. Today, we associate him as a powerful man, rich and one of the most deserving individuals. You could say this is to do with multiple things, but I think the starting step to his steady financial power is due to the success he first acquired.

Success makes you who you are. When success hits you young, you make it and you build it. You turn it into the way you want it to be. No one is going to enjoy the aftermath of success as much as you are. As a young individual myself, I know that there have been times when I have been successful. For example, ever had that experience when you did exceptionally well in an exam, and you just because so over-confident with the success you achieved that the next exam you had, you did considerably worse? Well, that happened to me. And there hasn’t been a better kick in the backside than that. For me, success is earning a lot more on Triond the next month than I did the last month. For me, success is being able to get into a good university and do the degree I want to. For me, success is me being able to slowly build the Jenga that will construct the aftermath of the success if I achieve passing my A Levels. Success can make or break you. What you pick to do, is completely up to you. We waste so much time in trying to achieve success that we don’t prepare ourselves for when we actually do achieve it and the time after that. So, what is success for you?

We have a very powerful organ within us that we can use at all times and use to our benefit and built it to be really strong. This is the human third eye. Read on to find out what this part of us is that can work even if all of the other sensory organs fail..

All of us have two eyes. So what? We see through them. We locate our surroundings. We get to know people. We learn through them. They are the single most important sensory organ in our body. If you were mute, things wouldn’t be bad because you could still see people and try to make some sort of hand signals to them. If you were deaf, again it wouldn’t be that bad because you could still lip read them. If you can’t feel because of paralysis, then it still is okay but when you lose your eyes, it’s like living in a dark room. Your eyes are the window to the world and it’s only through them how you can really build the world round you. It’s only through your eyes how you perceive the world and make judgements on what you see. But why is it really that our eyes are so important?

It’s because our eyes build up our human third eye. Imagination. Our eyes, build our world around us. They build up thoughts, actions, emotions and other parts of life around us. A person who is born blind has seen nothing apart from blackness or maybe blurry colours. They don’t have any eyes to build up the most important imagination in them because they haven’t seen the world. They don’t know what a blade of grass looks like and they don’t know what a razor blade looks like. BUT! Through the power of touch, they are still able to build up an image of these objects in their minds eye. Even though they don’t have any sight, it was imagination that ruled them.

Albert Einstein once said – “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For while knowledge defines all we currently know and understand, imagination points to all we might yet discover and create.”

How extremely true is he? Imagination allows us to access heights that we may have never imagined before. It was imagination that sparked a thought in Isaac Newton to think about gravity when an apple fell from a tree. It was imagination that ignited ideas into Leonardo da Vinci’s mind to produce some of the most complex and interesting pieces of work. It was imagination in Ludwig van Beethoven that allowed him to produce music of exceptional quality despite being deaf. Imagination is the human third eye because even if all of the sensory organs fail, our imagination still exists. It builds up through our eyes because our eyes see things and let us ponder more and delve further into how the world works. For a person who is deficit in sight, he or she can’t see to know how the world works but their powerful sense of hearing and touch enables them to build an imagination even though it might not be up to the standard of those who can see.

Our imagination is what has caused the world around us. Imagination sets thoughts off, which build into emotions, which then go on to become actions that are soon completed to make the world around us. Our imagination builds our world because if you are positive in your imagination, you build a world of happiness around you. If you are negative in your imagination, you build a world of sadness or depression around you. Your imagination makes you who you are according to what you see which is why I think it is the most powerful eye – the third eye. As writers and photographers on Triond, we use this third eye but it is equally essential to keep this third eye open at all times because we as creative people have developed it well.

I’d like to conclude by inspiring all of you through a quote because if I inspire you to imagine, that leads on to creativity which makes our world that we live in today a beautiful and wonderful place to live in.

John Lennon – Reality leaves a lot to the imagination.

Be inspired, be imaginative!

Opposite characterization of humans singled out in this expressed article.

Extroversion and introversion are two different ways of relating to the world around us. They identify where we are most comfortable focusing our attention and where we are energized. Everyone uses extroversion and introversion, but each person prefers or is more comfortable with one more than the other.

It’s safe to say that the terms “extrovert” and “introvert” are two of the most misunderstood words in our vocabulary. What do you think of when you hear the word “introvert”? Is your first response positive or negative? For most people (including introverts), their first response is usually more negative than positive. The truth is that neither preference is positive or negative. Introverts have been described as loners, wallflowers, etc. On the other hand, extroverts have been described as loud, overbearing and obnoxious.

Children who are extroverts are energized by people, action and the things going on around them. They not only focus on the outer world but are also energized by contact with it. They don’t necessarily talk more than introverts, and not all extroverts are party animals. They simply draw energy and inspiration from the outer world of people and things.

Introverts are more likely to be energized by their inner worlds of thought and reflection. It’s not that they like people any less than extroverts. They may enjoy people and have the same communication skills as extroverts. However, they recharge their batteries when they are away from large groups of people. It’s not even that they talk less than extroverts. The introverted child simply feels uncomfortable spending a disproportionate amount of time “socializing” in the outer world.

Extroverts can view introverts as being unfriendly or cold, but this isn’t necessarily true. The natural God-given design of introverts leads them to be energized by time alone. Thus, when introverts have to deal with people who may not be close or familiar to them, they may well feel like fish out of water.

A Closer Look at the Differences

The following is a list of some of the differences between introverts and extroverts. Like most people, you will probably find some things in both descriptions that sound like you. However, you will also have a pretty clear sense that you prefer, or are better at, one or the other.

Extrovert

Feels drawn outward by external requests and opportunities.

Energized by other people and external experiences.

An interruption is an opportunity.

Enjoys people.

The unlived life is not worth examining.

Acts and then (maybe) reflects.

Seeks activity.

Is often friendly, talkative, and easy to know.

Expresses emotions.

Problem solves externally.

Values relationships.

Gives breadth to life.

May seem shallow to introverts.

Introverts

Feels pushed inward by external requests and intrusions.

Energized by inner resources and internal experiences.

An interruption is an intrusion.

Enjoys pondering.

The unexamined life is not worth living.

Reflects and then (maybe) acts.

Seeks solitude.

Is often reserved, quiet, and hard to know.

Keeps emotions to self.

Problem solves internally.

Values privacy.

Gives depth to life.

May seem withdrawn to extroverts.

"Change what you can and accept what you can't".

Happy people know how to adapt. They are nimble, they learn new things, and they adjust. For instance, few of us have the sort of life we initially thought we wanted. And thank God we don’t. Some people make themselves miserable by being so stubborn about their plans for the future. When they have to take new directions, they resist and rebel. “Things are not the way they used to be,” they complain, or “This is not the way things were supposed to work out.”

The happiest and most successful people are those who are fleet-footed, who are eager to learn new ways, who adapt to new systems when the old ones do not work. When one career path fails, they cheerfully learn a new way of earning a living. When their marriage ends, they’re able to adjust to being alone or to a new marriage. When people frustrate them and they see that these people are never going to change, they accept them the way they are and relax.

As they say in Alcoholics Anonymous: “Change what you can and accept what you can’t.”

Aimed to help raise public awareness about the plight of missing people.

Having a keen interest in social affairs, this is an issue that I decided to investigate.

Who knows what goes on in the mind of a person who packs up and leaves their loved ones?

There are a number of reasons why a person goes missing from home; it could be through family conflict, abuse, financial worries, stress and alcohol or drug abuse. In the over 60’s age group the most common reason is Alzheimer’s disease and senile dementia. Whatever the reason it’s heartbreaking for the person concerned and for the family.

It is believed that girls aged 13 to 17 are twice as likely to go missing from home than boys in the same age range, similarly, males in their late 20s are more likely to go missing than any other group of adults.

According to the National Missing Persons database there are around 210,000 missing people a year in the U.K. of which 75% are thankfully found safe and well but sadly thousands are still missing. As a consequence of this phenomenon, figures for the homeless are increasing . Of the missing people that are found to have passed away, half had committed suicide and a third had died as a result of an accident or of being harmed. It’s alarming to know that many bodies lie un-identified in mortuaries across the U.K.

The somewhat scattered statistics of missing people show that this is a growing concern in our society. To date there is no central database that shows the full extent of missing persons.

We need an integrated system where all agencies and larger organisations collate their information. There needs to be wider advertising to ensure public awareness and more importantly, there should be more support centres where these people can seek advice and guidance before embarking on the drastic step of leaving home.

Central government plays only a small part in providing a clear policy for ensuring that the needs of these people and their families are met, typical but not acceptable in our society.
