This an article about certain groups of people in society.

Appearances

It seems to me that most people are insincere. I infer rather decidedly as to the subject. Just a few years prior I had an epiphany. In my realization, I found that things are not always what they appear to be. As I was prone to think all smiling faces were happy ones. I know its a little naive right? But who said you could not be an optimist? The word is still relevant. However, my previous encounters with people has enlightened me to the contrary Though I am not a cynic in the least, I do believe there is a superficial side to many. I have become keen in determining what is supercilious and unreal. What do I mean by this? Of the observations made I find that most individuals are fictitious in nature. You know the kind that hides behind a facade in public. It is not difficult to discover who they are. The places vary in which they are accustomed to living.

There is no particular ethnic group or race stereotyped. They emerge from all lifestyles, actors of the people. There are three classes that exist. Often you will encounter those of the gossiping sort. These are the ones maliciously talking about someone else. It is no surprise that they delight in such frivolity. Jealousy is the root cause for their prattle. Because another person has material possessions or potential to succeed they become envious. It is amazing what furtive actions they will take to conceal their false reports. The pretense of friendliness is what the gossipers usually display. They invite the victim of malignant slander to participate in the same idleness against another. Unwittingly, the newcomer takes part in groundless rumors, unaware that he was once the subject of conversation.

Furthermore, the one now disdained was formerly among the gossipers. I guess the cliché still holds true, “Misery loves company”. Secondly, there is an alternative group of individuals. Their aim is to keep up with the “Jones”. I laugh at such persons as these. They live above their means for a taste of popularity; there is ever a thirst for ambitious prestige. Preoccupied with the finer things of life, they steep themselves in fashion. Moreover, these self-lovers buy expensive vehicles for outward display. In addition houses go up for the novelty of the feeling. There is no prolonged time before the veneer begins to break. The momentary security starts to fade as repossession, lack of currency, and foreclosure becomes eminent. Finally, there is an incessant worry of prying eyes.

At last, the third class of individuals I consider to be the most absurd. They enjoy when others envy them for their favorable circumstances. Although scheming their way to success, they think of themselves as honest. Rarely speaking of the clandestine motives or lies misconstrued into necessity, they boast on only what they have. They are jealous also, except on noticing what others may have, all too plainly become persistent in their efforts to outdo the competition. In accumulating more values, they seek to veil their true sentiments.
When jealousy rears its ugly head this gratifies their ego. I believe the ancient Greeks had
a word for those persons with such erroneous behavior, hypocrites! I wonder if the term still
applies today?

Ah, the great British seaside. Taking the family for a day at the beach can be great fun but is also sometimes hard work.

Ah, the great British seaside. Taking the family for a day at the beach can be great fun but is also sometimes hard work. Blackpool is a really great holiday destination in the UK and with that in mind, here are a few tips to make your time by the seaside extra special.
Remember to pack a lunch! Though devilishly tempting, seaside snacks can be particularly unhealthy and expensive too. Sure a trip to Blackpool wouldn’t be complete without sampling some of the local candyfloss, but avoid the rest of the unhealthy seaside vendors by packing a cool box full of homemade treats. Unless you want to be paying £3 for a hotdog, a picnic is going to be your best bet.
Bring suntan lotion and after sun. Even though the British weather has a reputation for being somewhat miserable, it’s worth knowing that even when it’s cloudy the sun’s UV rays can catch you. If you have children it is important to make sure they are covered up with hats and shirts. It’s particularly important to reapply lotion after swimming in the sea. Even if you buy water resistant sunscreen there is a need to reapply every hour or two. You can never be too cautious and ensure you have a shaded area to retreat to if it gets too hot.
Take some change for the penny arcades. These are the ideal way to pass the day, especially if the weather takes a turn for the worst. Plus, the children will love them!
One tip that is integral to any trip to British seaside is this: remember to pack an umbrella. Even if you wake up to blazing sunshine, always remember that the weather can change at a moment’s notice. The last thing anyone wants is to get wet!
Blackpool is a great place for a holiday and if you follow the above tips you can be sure to have a stress free, relaxing time on the beach. One other tip is don’t stay too far from the shore. There are a number of Blackpool hotels on the seafront; in fact most hotels in Blackpool are near the shore. Not only will this cut down on travel costs when hitting the beach, but you can also retreat indoors easily if the sun gets too much.
Look online to find the best prices and deals on hotels in Blackpool!.

I am stressed out enough these days. Christmas just makes it worse. I hope to make myself feel better by taking it out stress on the keyboard here and getting in as many hot triond tags as I can.

I wanted to write on my Triond page about how Christmas stresses me out in an unnecessary way and to get in the article, as many hot tags as I could. Last Christmas was a little easier with regards to this since my wife and I started having children with it being Andrew’s first Christmas. My family and the family of my wife stress me out with various things. There is the pressure to go places and visit them for long periods of time which wear out my wife and my son. (It is good when Andrew gets super fussy- got to go home now. Shut up Family! Get him in the car.) This pattern has been the case every year since my wife and I got married. Her parents are divorced; my parents are divorced. Everyone is scattered everywhere. I feel obligated to eat food I really do not want to eat and eat more food than I want. My business suffers with the days off I have to take. Everyone wants to transact business since they have time off. Hey, I want to take time off too. I have to take time off to visit family I don’t want to visit, but feel obligated to. My health suffers from relatives wearing me out and lack of time to exercise and pray and sleep. My writing suffers since I have a lot less time to do it. Since it is Christmas season, I would like to make more time for God, since it is His birthday, but there is no time for God, or so it seems, except for Mass on Christmas morning.

Thanks to my mother-in-law ( I do love her) for getting out of town and not demanding Christmas Day to herself. By the way, my sister-in-law has to work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day anyway. (She is a nurse who takes care of newborn babies.) We took care of her Christmas first on Sunday the 18th. She is going out of town with her boyfriend to visit her “mother-in-law”. She will be ready to come back sooner than she will.

My father and her new wife are coming into town two days only. Rush, stress, urgency are the words. So we will have to squeeze them into the schedule on Christmas Eve on a Fast Day. I would have liked to visit my aunts (Dad’s sisters) but there is no time. Forget visiting my friend from 3rd grade from out of state who is coming into town for a few days. There is no time.

I think the only family “Christmas” I will enjoy will be my Mom Christmas Day. I will have my five year old nephew and can take him to Mass Christmas morning. I will get to see my other nephew, my five month old nephew, my sister’s new son. All three boys will be together (my nephews and son) for the first time.

My father-in-law gets the day after Christmas when my sister-in-law gets off of work. She is already going to see him ex parte this week. My father-in-law calls the house yesterday with all the love and happiness of a client calling my office to schedule an appointment for a consultation on foreclosure. My father who lives five hours away has seen Andrew more than my father-in-law who lives 30 minutes away. My wife is hurt and I can tell.

It is going to be a sad Christmas since Nana, my mother’s mother will not be here for the first time. (She died in March). Christmas 2010 was a transition since it will be the only Christmas with Andrew and Nana. My wife asked me why I did not weep. I answered that I have had no time to. I would like to. I pray for her and look at her picture holding the infant Andrew and thank God that Nana hung out long enough to see and hold him.

Express yourself and write some triond articles for Christmas. It made me fell a little better.

Doomed Cannibals Ate AIDS Victim:

A Brunei, Borneo, cannibal tribe may be doomed after feasting on a scientist infected with AIDS. Gerard Voisard, 28 of Geneva, Switzerland, had been diagnosed as having AIDS-Related Complex before he entered the country; and his journal revealed that the disease had fully matured. “This is a tragedy beyond measure,” says Ian Brinsdon, a Brunei Health Official. “Our government has spent a fortune trying to preserve and protect the primitive people of our jungle. Now, in one swift and cruel stroke, an entire tribe has been doomed to extinction. It’s only a matter of time before they all have AIDS.” Although the government is currently trying to persuade the tribesmen to undergo testing for the disease. “The outcome of these negotiations is still in limbo,” adds Brinsdon. “The cannibals are wary of outsiders to begin with. And they have absolutely no conception of the seriousness of AIDS.” (Weekly World News – submitted by C. Kaplan, New York, N.Y.)

Comment: Let’s hope there’s no bad blood…

She Gives a Real Jolt:

A London woman claims her body is flowing with so much electricity that she burns out household appliances with the slightest touch. According to the British Sun, the woman estimates she’s caused about $13,000 worth of damage to irons, toasters, washers, and dryers, televisions, radios, VCR’s, and “at least 250 light bulbs.” She lost her job at a dry cleaner “because I was making the tills (cash registers) go haywire.” Although she says she’s suffered from the peculiarity since childhood, it became worse in 1982. Doctors believe it may be caused by stress, but she doesn’t feel tense: “I’m noisy, sense-of-humor kind of person.” (Charlotte Observer – submitted by David S. Bauguess, Taylorsville, N.C.)

Comment: A real live wire.

South Ravaged By Werewolves:

Werewolves are currently running wild down South, according to Dr. Stephen Kaplan, Director of the Werewolf Research Center. “We’re seeing the biggest rise in werewolfism since Sherman’s march on Atlanta, “ he explains. “There may soon be fur flying in the heart of Dixie. I see a showdown like the O.K. Corral brewing. “Kaplan feels that the creatures prefer the South because of its warm climate and its growing number of Satanic Cults. He says that rural werewolves prey in packs on hitchhikers, tourists, and children, while their urban counterparts are solitary hunters who prefer the elderly and customers in single bars. Research for Kaplan’s first ever worldwide werewolf census has shown increasing numbers of them in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida. As their origin, “Centuries ago, yetis may have kidnapped and raped some of America’s pioneer women,” Kaplan believes. “The offspring were werewolves, less hairy, shorter.” (National Examiner).

Comment: That’s why, movies nowadays have vampire-werewolves themes…

Factory Worker Thinks He Died and Gone to Hell:

An English metal-foundry worker became convinced that he was in hell, and killed his foreman, who he thought was the devil. “In the last few days he’d been acting strangely, doesn’t know if thereberserk, screaming about being in “the pits of the eternal fire” and saying he was going to kill Satan.” The 45-year old man chased his supervisor around the factory and killed him with a sledgehammer. According to a police spokesman, “It gets very hot in there…He pictured his supervisor as being the devil leading the doomed off to eternal punishment.” After his arrest, he was examined by psychiatrists who suspect that his religious fervor, combined with the heat, caused his delusions, and that he may well be schizophrenic. (Sun – submitted by David Johnson, Ponca City, Oklahoma).

Comment: Like Harry Truman used to say, if you can’t withstand the heat…

According to a former friend of the Libyan dictator, Muammar Qaddafi is still so infuriated over the United States’ bombing of Tripoli that he prefers to remain in his tent and watch old Three Stooges movies. “He just sits there, watching his Stooges videotapes and pouting like a spoiled child,” says Ali Adjina, who has defected to France. “He used to idolize world leaders and men of war like Napoleon and Alexander the Great. Now he looks up to nobody but Larry, Moe, and Curly!” After a friend gave Qaddafi three racing camels in an effort to cheer him up, the colonel had them killed and stuffed, then placed them outside his tent with signs around their necks bearing the names of the Stooges. “The colonel has gone off the deep end before, but I’m afraid this time he’s gone for good.” states Adjina. “The other day he started laughing to himself in that idiotic way the fat Stooge does….I tried to tell him it wasn’t right for a man of his stature to spend all day watching the Three Stooges – and that’s why I’m not living in Libya anymore.” (Weekly World News – submitted by George Edwards, Rosedale, N.Y.)

Comment: At least Qaddafi isn’t into astrology and who knows where he is right now…

Walking Catfish Eats Farmer:

A huge walking catfish in China’s Yunnan province consumed a farmer and injured his wife and eight children. Although officials believe that 41-year old Chen Xieping beat his family and fled, his neighbors swear they saw the 13-feet long, two-ton “River Dragon,” says Chen’s wife Li. “We were sitting for our evening rice when we heard a shrieking noise from the river. Chen ran outdoors to investigate. The noise grew louder and we could hear Chen shouting for help. “She heard her husband pounding on the door, and opened it to find him being swallowed by the enormous fish. Local farmers says it swung Chen against his hut, bringing it down upon his family, then walked back to the river with Chen’s feet protruding from his mouth. “I could hear Chen screaming for help, begging for someone to come and release him,“ recalls one neighbor. “My heart goes out to Chen’s family. They have lost a true hero of the people. I would never have dared fight the River Dragon…It is a demon sent from hell to punish us.” (National Examiner)

Comment: Good to eat…for farmers…

Attention Nancy Reagan:

Fortune-teller Erma Valen is able to predict the future by reading letters in alphabet soup. Proficient at reading tea leaves for 30 years, she knew nothing of her abilities with soup until the day she decided to cook some for her nephew. “I felt like having soup and remember sitting there stirring it,” says Erma. “Suddenly, this strange, cold feeling for my friend, who was to leave on a bus trip, came over me. When I looked down in the bowl, I saw the letters D-E-A-T-H spelled out on my spoon. It was undoubtedly meant for my friend.” Erma warned the woman, who decidedly not to take the trip, and thereby saved her life – the bus collided with a truck later that day, killing several people. Erma also told her sister not to be concerned over her problems with money after seeing the word gold in her bowl. Sure enough, her brother-in-law’s salary was nearly doubled when he was hired by another company. “It’s a combination of my own abilities and destiny,” Erma explains. (Sun)

Comment: She’s got it down to the letter.

Washed-up Rock Group Makes Waves:

Atlantis, the world’s first underwater rock band, had its premier gig at the Los Angeles Swim Stadium near the L.A. Coliseum. The group played with waterproof instruments, breathing apparatus, and shock resistant cables while their fans looked on from behind a Plexiglass partition. “They were a real gas,” one comments.” “Bubbly,” I guess, was the word for them. I especially liked their “Sea Cruise,” “Rock Lobster,” and “Wet Rap” songs. In fact, I can hardly wait for their LP, Moray Eel, to come out.” Although they made a splash, leader Jim Mouth doesn’t know if there will be future performances: “The rest of the group want to escape rock n’ roll depths and go on to greater heights…We could play as we parachute down to earth.” News Extra).

Comment: They could always join the Velvet Underground.

Forgive me if I haven´t mentioned all of them, but mankind has created a lot of wealth along its history. It´s difficult to choose.

Amazonia are the Earth lungs.

A few days ago, I found a leaflet that claimed SAVE THE AMAZONIA. I, then, recalled. Years ago there had been a worldwide campaign to save what it is known as the Earth lungs. There had been discussion groups, demos, badges, T-shirts and all the paraphernalia related to it. Many of us wanted to save this huge paradise from capitalist buggers. I have never been to it, but I have seen lots of good photographs that have made me feel as though I had been there.

Now, it seems a campaign has been restarted again after years in the oblivion, and I have thought about it again. If this part of the Earth vanishes, we shall be lost.

Majestic Roman Aqueduct in Segovia.

The aqueduct in Segovia is one of the major works built by the Romans in Spain. It could still be used to carry water through it. But it isn´t anymore. These days is a magnificent monument and one of the main features of Segovia. Years ago, it showed some problems because of the heavy traffic passing through its arches. If this work of art crumbled to pieces, it would have been a loss and a disgrace. Delivery lorries and tour coaches are not allowed to drive through it or to park in the surroundings and the area has been made for pedestrians only.

Inside the Alhambra.

The Alhambra in Granada is the palace that was built by Arabs during their stay in Spain in the 15 Century. To stroll in the different gardens and to go inside the different rooms means to trace back in time. Years ago, it was appointed by UNESCO as part of the Human Heritage. Up till now all seems right, but this monument has always had its problems to survive. Due to mass tourism, there were way too many visitors in it and not many of them behaved well when it came to protect the monument. People threw litter and there were many of them who dared writing on the ancient walls and stones. These days, they only admit limited groups and visits have to be booked in advance. It may be annoying, but it is the only way to protect one of the world´s wonders.

They say that the budget of several countries is needed to save Venice.

Venice was built in a handful of islands joined by different bridges. Some people say that it was foolish to build a city on the sea. As the sea level rises, many of its monuments and palaces are in danger. There is a sickening stench of damp everywhere, many of these people complain. Yet, I think it should be a place to keep, because there are far too many treasures in it.

Where there is water, there is life.

The Tablas of Daimiel in the region of Ciudad Real in Spain is one of the most important and, perhaps remaining, aquifers in Europe. Due to long term drought, it had to face serious problems. It is sad to see them dry and a sheer delight when it rains to fill them up. One can walk from one of these aquifers into another passing through little bridges and one can still delight with stunning landscape.

Forgive me if I haven´t mentioned all the major monuments and places that are worth a visit around the world. I know there are many more. There are just so many of them. All these places and monuments, regardless of the place where they are located, belong to everybody. They are part of the Human Heritage. They are our belongings to treasure and to protect. They are our past history and our future for survival.

When I watch and marvel about them, they are the ones to reconcile me with human beings amidst wars, fights and destruction everywhere.
