I have this idea floating in my mind for ages now and no creative outlet to be found.SO i have decided to publish this idea online with the hope that someone somewhere with the right resources may find some value in this, and have the wherewithal to take this further and make the world a better cleaner place.

The idea is very simple.

It is to provide an efficient and useful recycling alternative to the “PET”/Plastic bottles manufactured by the cola companies along with other plastic water bottles which are churned out in the millions by the F&B industry every year, ending up in Landfills and polluting the environment.

Image via Wikipedia

The Idea costs nothing, only requiring co- operation and synergy among the members of F&B industry with a desire to change the world for better. This will benefit humankind by cleaning up the environment for future generations and benefacting the poor farmers and people in the 3rd world countries at the same time.

And Whats in it for the poor F&B industry you ask?

1.This idea will potentially increase sales in third world countries.(Thirsty Poor Farmers will buy your Soda/Cola product) .
2.Will be an environmentally friendly method of recycling plastic bottles.(Read as Carbon Credits you dummkopf!).
3.Benefit poor farmers and the local economy of poor countries.(Thirsty RICH Farmers will buy More Soda/Cola)
4.Will result positive publicity to your company.

Sounds too good to be true??

Well Judge for yourself.Read on if you dare..

I am proposing that all plastic bottle manufacturers mutually agree to standard dimensions of the diameter of the various beverage bottles of different capacities .So all bottles being made say for a 2 litre cola drinks have the same diameter, ALL 1.5 Liter bottles have the same diameter and all 1 liter bottles of any Soda or Mineral water have same diameters.

And if a Cola company wants to offer increased quantities as a promotional offer then all they require to do is increase the length of the bottle keeping the diameter constant.

Why you ask ??

Well the Idea is that interlocking “threads” be molded on the outer and inner surfaces of the bottle(around the shoulder of the bottle) and also at the base of the bottle.

Take one bottle lop of the top portion of the bottle (along demarcated lines etched/printed on the surface) and do the same at the bottom.

Take another bottle and do the same.

A figure representing the proposed idea drawn after consuming 2 large whiskys…

Now insert the neck portion of the first bottle and insert it into the bottom of the second bottle and screw it .

Sounds very naughty doesn’t it, but screws ensure a water tight coupling(and opportunity for me to practise my double entendre)

(See I can still draw straight lines after 3 large ones)

(Also Please Note: The contents of the SODA bottles mentioned/depicted above have been consumed personally by the Author/Artist.)

So now you have a length of plastic pipe about a meter long in your hands. Now take another bottle ,lop of both ends and screw, and repeat and repeat.

Very soon you have a daisy chain of soda bottles formed into a long water pipe which may be buried under ground and used for irrigation or supplying drinking water, in poor countries.

Add a final bottle (uncut ) at the end of the daisy chain , make some perforations on its body , stick some plastic pen ends in it at weird angles and a ping pong ball inside as a not returning valve and hey presto you have a sprinkler /drip irrigation system which works on low pressure water flow ,without requiring high pressure pumping equipment.

There you go world….

See so simple

One Would also require a number of “T” and “X” (three way and 4 way) junctions to cross link the bottle pipe but these could be manufactured locally according to the bottle specs.

Now all that is required is some big wig in the F&B industry with an conscience (oxymoronic?) to stumble across

this article while searching for porn, reading it completely and having an IQ large enough to comprehend the possibilities.

If you are reading this now O Grand Poo-bah of the F&B industry , If you can implement this Idea successfully you may get a peerage from the nice Queen . Sir Cola of Landfill how does that sound… Does this have your (cash register) bells ringing yet??

No?

Never mind it was worth a try anyway….

Are we really still drinking out of plastic bottles? We know about BPA. We know plastic is made from petroleum. Why are we still drinking out of plastic bottles?

When I first saw bottled water being advertised, I chuckled and said, “That will never sell. What are people, stupid?” I was a teenager then and still naïve enough to doubt the majority of the population was indeed stupid. Since I could remember, I had been filling used bottles with tap water. That worked fine for me. It seemed to work fine for everyone else too. That is, of course, until bottled water found a place on grocery store shelves, concessions booths, and vending machines. The bottles don’t just sit there, either. We buy them. We are stupid.

Yes, even I, the one who thinks this is completely ridiculous, have bought bottled water. Sometimes there is no choice other than to die of thirst. It usually gets me at sporting events. All hot and sweaty, when everyone else around me is wearing a hooded sweatshirt and perfectly comfortable somehow, I get thirsty. Having forgotten to bring along a Gatorade bottle, I want to slap myself. Giving in to nature’s most basic survival instinct, I decide to get up and get a drink. Then I browse my options and make my decision.

Well, I don’t drink soda, or pop, or whatever you want to call it, and beer just dehydrates the body even more (actually, so does soda, because of the sodium-to-fluid ratio imbalance), so I’m left with two options: diet soda or water. Well, I’m not going to get a diet soda, because that attracts way too much attention for some reason, which always brings on the aspartame speech even though aspartame is only harmful if you have a specific mental impairment. Therefore, I’m left with bottled water as being the best choice.

Sporting events are where everything is extremely overpriced, so I clench my anus shut and grit my teeth as I fork over my sweat-soaked five-dollar bill and get two quarters back, if I’m lucky, along with my bottle of crystal-clear dihydrogen monoxide. Water: the most essential part of our survival at $4.50 a bottle. Okay, that isn’t what it normally is of course, but it shouldn’t cost more than tap water. You know what it is? The bottle itself is more valuable. It is, after all, a petroleum product. Who knows how much oil goes into making these bottles? How many light bulbs could we keep going with that much oil? How many batteries could we recharge for vibrating dildos? Because we generally don’t recycle, there are horny women out there going apeshit without functional vibrators. Then they have to call me. Do you know how degrading that must feel to them? Please, stop doing this to these poor women.

Normally, I drink out of a Nalgene or a used bottle from Gatorade or something. At least I’m not doing as much damage that way. However, now they want to tell you drinking from a used bottle is a bad idea because the sides of the plastic eventually deteriorates, placing plastic derivatives in the water. I’ll grant this is probably true, but what they leave out is any kind of evidence this is even harmful. Besides, what’s to stop this from happening in a bottle produced by Desani or Aquafina, which by the way, come from city water at the factory. Just because there are pictures of mountains and fresh springs, does not mean that’s where it comes from.

Did you know there are lower standards for bottled water? City water is constantly monitored to make sure it’s safe to drink. Because we just assume bottled water is more pure, it isn’t watched as closely. Does anyone realize this? You could be drinking e-coli-laced scrotum juice with a hint of salmonella for all you know. Why? Is it because the bottle has a pretty picture of a mountain? Get one of those Britas or something if you’re afraid tap water is going to turn your liver black as well as cause you to shit out your intestines, which it won’t, especially if you live on Lake Superior for chrissakes! It would save you a hell of a lot of money, and you could get off sooner because you have freshly charged batteries ready for action.

Earth Day 2009 is here and no rallying cry for better management of the planet is louder than the one to stop the use of disposable plastic bags and bottles.

Before Plastic Bags

Products bought in stores, delis and meat markets used to be wrapped in yesterday’s newspaper or plain brown bag wrap. The environmentalists cried over the death of the trees that produced the paper pulp that became paper bags not to mention the little dweeby bug-owl that nobody has ever seen before, and then only in a black & white handbill image that made it look sad staring out of a knothole in some dead pine tree. They said these owls would become extinct in our lifetime as a result. The switch to plastic bags was deemed an eco-friendly move. So, -what happened?

Paper is Bio-Degradable and Therefore, Better?

I hear this excuse all the time and let me identify some problems with this fallacy. True, paper will decompose and become mulch over time but you would not want a lot of this in your garden any more than you’d want bagfuls chipped houseboards. Paper cellulose is not really a good fertilizer until it has completely broken-down, -which can take several years.

Buried in landfills where there is little oxygen (because it is buried) and very little movement in the water table, paper survives for decades. Landfills are placed exactly where they are because of these factors, little to no water-movement. This prevents any leachate from contaminating streams, lakes and other potable ground water.

It was a common practice decades ago for disposing of daily newspapers to roll them tightly and bind with a string or cord before burial in the landfill. This action actually preserves the paper and some of the best excavated newsprint papers have come from converted landfills going back into the 60s, 50s and even earlier. Have you ever seen those ads where you can buy a framed front-page newspaper from your hometown from the day you were born? Usually in fair-to-good condition? Yes, -those are reclaimed-from-a-landfill newspapers that someone salvaged (possibly by the hundreds or thousands for any particular day and any particular town or city) and found a very entrepreneurial way to profit from them.

The Switch to Plastic Bags, Bottles & Plastic Packaging

They use less material than cardboard boxes and bag combinations so it conserves disposable volume. Less mass to truck means saving over-the-road costs, fuel, and less space required for inventory. Reduced and minimized packing costs are an effective inducement for having switched to plastic bags, bottles and containers.

Image via Wikipedia

Plastic bag containers are more sanitary than paper equivalents for many types of foods. They keep foods fresh longer, are more lightweight and can be formed to have handle for ease of carrying that surpass the ability of paper. Concerns of a more recent nature are that of the possibility of malicious product tampering. Product tampering measures often involve a plastic seal that is created at the point of production and in not broken until the end consumer uses it.

A plastic bag or other product that uses plastic sealing methods cannot be maliciously accessed without visible damage showing whereas paper by its nature, would have been folded and taped to some degree. The non-permeability of plastics alone makes its use for food and food products safer than paper which could absorb poisonous, toxic or any other liquid substances it could come in contact with. And of course if the plastic is of the right type, it can be incinerated in any waste-to-energy facility just like paper.

Lastly, if all else fails plastic bags buried in landfills would be stable and inert. The ultimate ‘do no harm’ would be achieved. It behaves more like paper and it would remain ’stable’ for a very long time.

But the Problem with Plastic is…

…Improper disposal!

Thrown onto the ground and left alone, it will not decay or break down easily and could lay there for hundreds or perhaps even thousands of years. Often, garbage that includes plastic bags, bottles and related plastic products ends up in the world’s oceans where they entangle and kill marine animals and birds. Sea Turtles will mistakenly eat plastic bags, probably thinking they are jellyfish or sea kelp. Doing so will in all likelihood cause bindage in their stomach, causing the animal to die.

Image via Wikipedia

Whales too could ingest the plastic items and become impacted and die from the obstruction in their intestinal tract. Birds will rest upon floating piles of plastic garbage seeking food and become ensnared, eventually drowning for the lack of ability to escape, die of hunger.

Reports cite as many as ‘one-hundred thousand deaths’ but there was never any scientific data to support this number given. Not for plastic bags, anyway. -Lost fishing gears (nets, ropes, etc.) was the subject of that report.

Fish seeking shelter will hide amongst the plastic flotsam and become entangled, often carrying pieces of plastic string around their bodies which become tighter as the fish gains girth. The entangled plastic string, nylon rope or shards becomes a virtual plastic garrote which becomes tighter and tighter as the fish grows in size, torturing and maiming, eventually causing death.

A fish or marine mammal such as a whale or dolphin might fail to mate under such an unnatural condition, depriving a future progeny. Or at least this is the oft-cited over-exaggerated claims. It is more a matter of discarded fishing nets and banding straps that do the actual killing, and not ‘plastic bags.’ We could still err on the side of correctness and not fill our oceans and cover our beaches with discarded plastic water bottles, though.

Waste Not or Have Not

We can blame plastic for a multitude of environmental sins. But plastic is not the problem. People are the problem. With conscientious environmental awareness we are gradually moving away from plastic bags, but let’s not break an arm patting ourselves on the back just yet. The reusable products that are replacing plastic bags are, -plastic cloth-like bags!

Reusable Bags Made from Plastic Bottles!

Plastic bottles and recycled plastics are being spun into new ‘eco-friendly’ carry-all totes, sandals and clothes but let’s not forget that these are still plastic. What are we going to do with these when they have outlived their useful life? Why, -throw them away of course! And then buy more, believing that because we are buying ‘recycled plastics’ again, we’re making a positive difference.

Helping the nature and earn because of selling pפlastic bottles.

There are thousands of products released on the market. The most popular and salable product is mineral water using Plastic Bottles. Many doctors recommend drinking water 8 to 9 glasses a day, which many people followed and find it very helpful to their health.

We can buy Mineral anywhere and anytime, which is very good for all of us. The bad thing I observed is throwing the Plastic Bottles on the park, streets and more. Everything has advantage and disadvantage like water on a Plastic Bottles. Water helps to maintain the needs of our body while Plastic Bottles increases the cause of Global Warming.

I believe that every problem have solution. If you will learn to Research and apply it, there is no possibility to gain both in positive way. Now, Plastic Bottles is no longer problem to many countries like Philippines. They can both drink Mineral water and sell the Plastic Bottles after.

In year 2007, the Representative of Massachusetts, Edward Markey, introduced Bottle Recycling Climate Protection Act of 2007 to U.S. House of Representative. If the bill will be approve all the people living in the United States have the benefits from every bottle they have. The estimated money to earn is $0.05 for every container of Plastic Bottle.

I hope that many people will realize that we should take care of the things that surround us while caring for our health. If we will not thinking about what the future, the problem will get worst. Do not wait for the time that we will end up killing ourselves because of our own fault.

Selling Plastic Bottles can make us more responsible and earn extra cash especially for our situations now. Learn to act as early as you can than feel sorry for the future situation that will come in our way. On that time, I am sure that we do not know what to do. So, please cooperate while earning for you and your family.
