This is the beginning of my ghost story. Jacob Downing is a paranormal investigator who has failed to find any evidence of the supernatural. Upon investigating a family's home he discovers the true of ghosts, and that there are a handful of people who have the power to stop them. Note: the story will be uploaded as written. Please comment and leave suggestions/tips.

Chapter 1

Jacob Downing sat at his desk by the glow of his computer reviewing the footage of his last paranormal investigation. He hoped that after the umpteenth time of watching it, he just might see a faint apparition, a cup move of its own accord, hear a bang from nowhere or something that could possibly be evidence of the paranormal!

Jacob’s thoughts were clear: Let’s face it; there has never been any evidence!

He held his head in his hands and rubbed his face from tiredness and exacerbation; running his hands over late night stubble reminding him he had been at this pointless task all night. Jacob had sent his two assistants home – glancing at his watch – five or six hours ago; he couldn’t remember. The task of reviewing the videotaped footage was beginning to become tedious, and all cases started to merge into one big waste of time. He was just too hopeful to find something ghostly to acknowledge it.

Hitting stop on the media player, Jacob watched the time slider move back to the start of the footage. He pressed play.

‘Here we go again!’ he mumbled to himself.

Running his fingers through his short brown hair, leaning his head into his palm, he stared beyond the computer monitor knowing there was nothing to find. He lit another cigarette, inhaling a longer than usual, allowing a sigh to follow his exhale. Coffee would taste good about now, too.

Jacob watched the smoke from his cigarette drift slowly upwards, and flicked the ash into the ashtray. He didn’t really want it now. It tasted of defeat.

He stubbed it out half-way down.

He looked at his watch. The hands read 11.32p.m.

There were still two of the five digital recorders to go through – a couple of nights worth of white noise to listen to.

He could not wait for that!

The thermograph had captured nothing. Only the everyday lives of the family that reported the “haunting”. There was a bit of excitement when Day Two was played back, but it turned out to be the twelve year old son getting a glass of water in the middle of the night.

Yawn.

Sleep was catching up as much as Jacob fought it.

A few more minutes passed on the video, and Jacob decided it was enough for tonight. He closed the media player and shut down the computer. He unplugged the Digital Video Recorder from the USB port, switching that off too.

Turning the lights back on in his office, Jacob grabbed his coat, pack of Lambert & Butler cigarettes, and his car keys. He opened the office door, flicking the light switch off. As the door closed he remembered his lighter. On with the lights again, he saw it lying on the desk near the keyboard. Jacob shoved the lighter and his cigarettes in his left trouser pocket, flung his black coat on, and turned the lights back off.

Wearily, he exited his office. He fumbled with the key in the lock, making him threaten it if it did not go in. It just fuelled his irritability.

Finally the door was locked.

He walked across the main room where his assistants worked in darkness, almost bumping into the television. The main table where they discussed their work was still slightly visible given its size. He opened the main door and headed for the university foyer down three flights of stairs.

Outside the building it was fairly quiet. No surprise really for the time of night. It was just like the tapes – video and audio – nothing.

Jacob approached his car – a black Ford Fiesta – pressed the button on his remote. The locks click open, and he climbed in. Before he even got his car keys ready to start the car, Jacob took out his cigarettes, lit one, actually enjoying it this time.

Ah, sweet nicotine!

He clamped the cigarette between his lips and turned the key in the ignition. The car came to life. Home was only a few short miles, a small flat in a block called Riverside, aptly named being next to a river – if you could call it that.

Entering his flat – all he could afford after that bitch took him for everything in the divorce – Jacob headed straight for the bedroom and collapsed onto the bed, exhausted.

Chapter 2

The alarm screeched in Jacob’s ears. He reached over and pressed the button to cease the infernal machine’s noise. The digital display, as always, read 07.00. Boy, he felt rough. He didn’t remember drinking alcohol last night, but his tiredness made him feel like he may as well have.

He went into the cupboard that want supposedly a bathroom, peed and flushed, showered quickly.

While drying off, Jacob hoped that he might get a phone call today with some real potential; a haunting worth investigating. Not another episode of Most Haunted where someone gets touched and it must be a ghost! A genuine, honest to God, ghost. Just one would be fine, thanks.

He brushed his teeth.

Finding a fresh shirt and trousers from the wardrobe, Jacob got dressed. He had considered just putting on yesterday’s clothes, but that would have been a bad idea after wearing them for fifteen hours.

Arriving at his offices in the university, the two assistants were already there going through some notes while they waited for him.

‘Mornin’ Boss-man!’ Steve said jovially. Far too happy for the early morning Jacob was experiencing. Steve sat at the large table wearing his usual black jeans and whatever metal band printed on his faded t-shirt.

Jessica turned and smiled her greeting, quickly turning back to her work, making her blonde pony- tail sway. Her attire was more comforting: a purple blouse that hugged her curves, and tight blue jeans that really showed how long her legs were. Quite why she was here was a mystery to Jacob. He saw her doing fashion or at least art. Not hanging around with a forty-two year old ghost hunter and a twenty-something who could not stop eye-balling her. Although Jacob had had his fair share of glances when she leaned over a desk or, the pattern of her bra showed through her blouse.

‘Shall we get finished on the Hutton’s case, Boss?’

Shut up, Steve!!! ‘We can, but I don’t think there’s anything there. I think that’s another dead end. Pardon the pun.’

Steve laughed trying to assure everyone he got the joke.

Who was he fooling?

Jacob laughed at him in his mind; smiled in reality to agree it was as funny as Steve thought.

Jessica was writing up her notes still, oblivious to the conversation. She was a hard worker and natural photographer. She’d learnt the video and camera equipment well. If Steve wasn’t such a dork, he would still be doing it, but his angles were crap, and batteries wouldn’t be charged, and DVR not backed up so the device could be used for the next case, and so on. Jacob gladly let him handle the digital audio recorders.

Jacob thought he would probably have different people working with him – maybe Jessica would still be here – but when he put the notice up for paranormal studies these were the only two that showed up. Unless he counted the girl who did one night of investigated and freaked out because she was petrified about seeing something “unnatural”. Students could come and help his research when they had free time or whenever they wanted, but no one was interested except Christina Aguilera and one third of the Three Stooges; possibly Larry – Curly on worse days.

‘Jessica?’ She looked around to face Jacob. ‘When you’re finished, could you make sure everything is backed up to the USB dongles, and to tape?’

‘Yeah, I sure will, Doctor Downing.’

‘Jacob is fine, please.’

‘OK.’

‘What shall I do?’ Steve piped.

Jacob frowned. ‘Help Jessica. Use your initiative.’

Jessica raised the corner of her mouth for a brief moment while she wrote her case notes.

Steve seemed disappointed, but Jacob was not about to let him at footage unsupervised.

Jacob unlocked his office and slumped into his chair.

A few moments later, Jessica knocked gently on the door. ‘Can I just get a laptop and the footage from the Hutton’s case?’

‘Yeah, help yourself. The DVR’s are here; the thermograph and recorders are in the cabinet.’

‘Forgot to lock it last night, again?’ she asked, looking at the padlock dangling freely from its hoop.

‘Must have. It was late when I left.’

Twitching her nose, Jacob realised she could smell the smoke in the air. Jacob knew one day he’d set the smoke alarms off, but wasn’t bothered too much. He ignored the thought while he watched Jessica retrieve the equipment, pretending to look over some files. It was only once in a blue moon he did it.

At one o’clock Jacob leaned back in his chair, his comfy leather chair, interlocking his fingers behind his head.

‘For fuck’s sake,’ he whispered.

How much longer was he to wait for a true case to come his way? If there was nothing found soon the grant would be revoked. Hard as he tried there was just nothing to be found. He saw television programme after television programme finding some sort of evidence – even if it was a whisper on tape. Electronic Voice Phenomenon was everywhere, but the one’s Jacob and his team had heard could be considered background noise. The word futile sprang to mind.

Jacob was snapped out of his daydream by the telephone ringing. He tried hard not to get too excited at the claims someone was about to tell him. After all, it was going to be another set-up; another dead end.

He picked up the receiver.

‘Good afternoon, Doctor Downing speaking.’ He attempting friendly, but it still sounded like sarcasm.

‘He – Hello? Are you the paranormal investigator?’ asked a nervous woman.

‘Yes.’

‘A friend of mine said you could help me. I really hope you can, we’re at my wits end here.’

‘What appears to be the problem, Missis . . ?’

Jacob sounded bored already, knowing what was about to be said.

‘Parker. Patricia Parker. I can’t be certain, but I’m sure my family is being haunted by a poltergeist.’

‘OK, can you give me some details about the events that have transpired?’

‘I’m sorry?’

Jacob sighed.

‘Can you tell me what’s been happening?’

‘Oh . . . oh, things have been difficult in our family for a while now and . . . ‘

‘I meant with regards to the poltergeist, Missis Parker,’ he interrupted.

‘But it’s all connected. We found another expert before you. He told us he could not help as it would endanger his life.’

‘Who was this other “expert”?’

Jacob expected to hear the name, Peter Waters or even the Most Haunted crew – neither being “experts” in the field in his opinion – they both play along with the homeowners fears, then claim to clear the property of any spirit activity with use of a medium. Peter was the worst, someone Jacob had run into several times, and almost resulted in throwing a punch or two at him. He was the only one Jacob knew of to send a bill to the people he had so-called “helped”.

‘He was a very odd man, said he was from some spiritual group. I can’t remember the name of it.’

‘Did he not leave a card or some means to contact him?’

‘No.’

‘How did you get in touch with him in the first place?’

‘We didn’t. He came to us.’

Jacob began to lose interest now; yet another crack-pot on the line.

‘How did he know you had a poltergeist?’

‘He said that he had “sensed the presence” or something. He had come to warn us to move house.’

‘Move house? Why didn’t he help you?’ Jacob asked curiously.

‘He told me he couldn’t. If he tried to send the poltergeist away, it would endanger his home by draining his energy or something or other.’

‘Right,’ he said thinking it was a psychic trying to get paid more likely. Jacob attempted to hold back the smile on his face, but it was too late.

There was a moment of silence.

‘Can you help us, Doctor?’ Patricia pleaded.

‘My team and I can come and investigate your home; see what is actually causing the disturbance, yes.’

‘If that’s all you can do . . .’ she said sounding disappointed.

‘That is what we do, Missis Parker.’

‘How soon can you come?’

‘We can be there tomorrow, if that suits you?’

‘Yes please,’ she replied with relief in her voice.

‘Say . . . about this time?’

‘Yes, that’ll be ok.’

‘Ok then, see you tomorrow afternoon, Missis Parker.’

‘See you then. Thank you.’

‘Goodbye, Mrs Parker until tomorrow.’

‘Yes, and thank you again.’

Jacob heard the phone hang up on her end, placing the receiver back on his phone.

He went out to Jessica and Steve.

‘Get all the equipment ready for tomorrow, please.’

‘We got another case, Boss?’

‘Yep. Bit of an odd one, so be ready for another disappointment.’

‘I’ll pack up the equipment then and . . .’

‘No, Jessica will do that, Steve. I do not want a repeat of the Child’s case. You can get the audio recorders ready. Jessica, can you make sure we have everything, please?’

‘Trust me, mate, I can do it. I have learned a lot since then,’ Steve stated eagerly.

‘No! And that’s final!’

Steve sulked sneering at Jessica.

March 21, 2012: Here is the story. Norm Hurst, the new owner of an IGA supermarket in Adelaide, Australia, noticed a package of Fruit Roll-Ups on the floor. For some reason, he decided to check the store’s security cameras to see how it ended up there. What he saw was remarkable. It appeared the Fruit Roll-Ups were mysteriously flying through the air, as if they’d been picked up and flung across the aisle.

Hugh got the Adelaide Paranormal Detectives involved. They said that the footage looks like the real deal (per CCTV). It appears that 14 years earlier, a man was violently gunned down just outside the store. A bullet hole still remains in a nearby phone booth. It is rumored that it is he who haunts the store.

The story could have ended there and Adelaide has itself a Fruit Roll-Ups flinging ghost. But, somehow Australia’s Sunrise On 7 aired the story. The video went viral. Now people want to know: is it real or is it fake?

Attached is the video of Sunrise On 7 segment.

Friday the 13th is coming up. Spend the day/night in with the lights turned down and a spooky movie on TV. Here are a few of the scariest movies.

Move over, Halloween. There’s a new night to indulge in a marathon of scary movies. Friday the 13th is coming up, and what better way is there to celebrate the day than to watch a few scary movies on the tube at home with the lights turned off? Here are a few of our picks of must-watch movies on Friday the 13th.

Nightmare on Elm Street
We’re introduced to psychopath Freddy Krueger in the 1984 thriller, “Nightmare on Elm Street.” Before being burned alive by an angry mob of parents, Krueger murdered several children with a glove outfitted with straight razor blades that were attached to his fingers. Years after his death, Krueger continued to haunt small children – this time, it was in their dreams. One child whose dreams he haunted was Nancy Thompson, the daughter of the police officer who arrested Krueger. After her best friend dies in her sleep violently during a dream involved Krueger, Nancy decides that she must find a way to stop Krueger’s terror or else never sleep again.
Released: 1984

Poltergeist
What seem to be friendly ghosts visit a family in their home. The youngest daughter of the family connects with the ghosts through a dead channel on the television. The ghosts appear to be nice at first, and they move objects around the house to amuse the family. However, after the niceness wears off, the ghosts begin to get nasty and the scares are almost too numerous to count, but include angry trees and murderous dolls, and eventually the youngest daughter is abducted.
Released: 1982

The Exorcist
The story in this film is based off of a true story, which makes the film that much scarier. The plot follows a visiting actress in Washington, D.C. The actress begins to notice dramatic and dangerous changes in the physical appearance and behavior of her 12-year-old daughter, Regan, who has violent outbursts on everyone who comes into contact with her. It is then determined by a priest that what Regan needs is more than a medical doctor or a psychiatrist – what she needs is an exorcist.
Released: 1973

Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Feeling like a documentary, “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” follows five teenagers who make a trip up to their grandfather’s grave, which is vandalized. On their way, they pick up a hitchhiker, who ends up killing himself, as well as one of the five teens, Franklin. While they manage to get away, they are forced to stop at a small house nearby in hopes of getting gas for the car. Unbeknownst to them, the house is the home of Leatherface and his creepy cannibalistic psychopathic family. One at a time, the teenagers are murdered, leaving Sally to be the last surviving teen. Will she survive?
Released: 1974

The Shining
Based off of the book, “The Shining,” by Stephen King, this film adaptation takes you on a journey where a family experiences extreme cabin fever and the husband slowly descends into madness and becomes a homicidal maniac. Jack Torrance, his wife and son become the winter caretakers of an isolated hotel. Danny, the son, realizes that he has a telepathic gift known as “the Shining.” He begins to have disturbing visions of the hotel’s past, while his father’s cabin fever results in him slipping into insanity. Danny has to then protect his mother and try to survive the demons of the hotel.
Released: 1980

The legend of the sexist PA poltergeist unfolds along a well-traveled Pennsylvania’s trail. Legend concludes the route was established circa 1820. The trail was merely a four or five foot wide-path carved through the area’s heavy underbrush. The indigenes plant life consistent of thick briars, thistles, or jaggers bushes. Travelers frequently reported, being cut, scrapped, or pricked by these hellish plants. Dispute this; the route was a heavily utilized expressway.

According to folktales, around 1840, a family of European immigrants built a home along the road. The Yeboi (sometimes spelled Iyboi) family included the husband, wife, and teen aged daughter named Yvonne. The Yebois struggled to earn a living selling refreshments or offering lodging to wary travelers. Reports indicated Mr. Yeboi was an abusive husband, cruel father, and sexist personality. In fact, only male travelers would be addressed by Mr. Yeboi. He rarely spoke with or made eye-contact with female visitors.

Rumors often circulated news of Mrs. Yeboi suffering blackened eyes or displaying heavily scarred arms. Likewise, the Yeboi’s daughter Yvonne would be viewed wearing deep slashes and cuts. Witnesses believed the female Yebois were battered with briars or thistle bushes. Moreover, the youngest Yeboi was rarely seen out of her father’s arm length. The girl did not attend school or interact with others nearby families.

Finally, one day, a local law officer stopped to rest at the cabin. Upon viewing a noticeably pregnant and freshly beaten Yvonne the officer questioned the girl. Yvonne reported the sexual abuse and physical violence her father inflicted upon her. The officer unsuccessfully sought-out the family patriarch. At the time of the search, Mr. Yeboi was away from home hunting. The lawman advised Yvonne he would collect a posse and pass swift justice upon her evil father.

Unfortunately, Yeboi returned before his pursuers. He confronted the visibly nervous Yvonne. He gathered a bundle of briars and began whipping her. Her flesh tore as the raspy plants ripped through her delicate skins. Just then, her mother entered the cabin and attempted to intervene on Yvonne behalf. Regrettably, the harsh man continued his assault. Mrs. Yeboi struggled to free her child. Outraged, Mr. Yeboi grabbed his hunting weapon and unleashed a barrage of fire upon his family.

A posse discovered the bullet ridden women’s bodies. The lawmen tracked the devilish Yeboi throughout the countryside’s underbrush. Finally, after several hours they located Yeboi hiding amongst the thistles he frequently used to punish his family members. The posse enacted immediate righteousness as they hanged the wanted assailant.

Beginning in the 1920’s, reports arose of female trail travelers experiencing unusually high percentages of scratches and/or abrasions resulting from briars, underbrush, and thistle plants native to the area. To this day the path is used by hikers or nature hunters. For some unexplainable reason women often feel uncomfortable near where the Yebois once lived. These female trekkers experience the briars slapping or whipping toward them. Meanwhile, male travelers suggest nothing unusual. Could it be Mr. Yeboi’s sexist mischievous spirit striking at the women? Or, can a woman’s intuition identify the abusive poltergeist activity where a man’s awareness fails him? One needs only to walk throughout the PA countryside to find out!

Although the field is estimated at not more than 3.4 million pounds, the businessman was forced to abandon it and is so horrified by what has happened here that are not even thinking of selling it to not throw the bane of other innocent people. Lee Roberts, a British expert who has investigated paranormal phenomena hundreds of such cases (exposing many fakes) and led the team that investigated the site after the businessman fled, saidhe is the only place that was really fear, even during the day. Strange noises, screaming, slamming doors, smashed windows, shakings - poltergeist entire arsenal was unleashed with the fury of the Muslim domain.

Another spectacular poltergeist case that happens lately is that of serial killer Ted Bundy, who was executed on January 24, 1989, after it killed over 30 women. Bundy’s spirit would come back to terrorize guards and inmates at the prison in the state of Florida, USA, where the killer spent 11 years behind bars for life and where he received the death penalty, electric chair. Bundy confessed in detail how he killed 30 women, and after he was sentenced to death, has been trying to prolong its life, promising them that police and prosecutors will recognize other crimes and will indicate where the bodies are buried.

These, however, refused to give them more time and made him so even today we do not know exactly how many crimes committed by Bundy – although police Americans have dealt with the case estimated that they would not be than 35, there are voices saying that Bundy would have made 100 victims. Today, it seems that i was in the dark cell psychopath, the prison hallways and the room was electric chair , there are numerous poltergeist phenomena – strange noises, whispers, knocking into the walls. Or so says some of prisoners and some guards.

Halfway between the ghost and psychic phenomena, poltergeists, spirits, playful, make noise, throw things, move objects and cause plenty of trouble.Effects of poltergeist activity, objects flying uncontrollably.

The word poltergeist comes from two German words: a folk term, Polten, which means “noise” and geist, meaning “spirit.” The poltergeist is, therefore, literally, “noisy spirit.” And whether or not spirits, at least manifest in multiple and outrageous ways: mysterious noises, unpleasant odors, furniture moving on their own, cold flashes, unexplained voices, objects appear and disappear, uncontrolled levitation victims … these are all symptoms of what is often termed “poltergeist activity.”

This is a very broad phenomenological field, it is sometimes difficult to separate from other parapsychological phenomena of nature. The development of psychical research and parapsychology for the last hundred years has introduced a more complicated term to describe the phenomenon Poltergeist: recurrent spontaneous psychokinesis (PKer).

Ever since the twelfth century have found evidence of these phenomena. Then they claimed they were caused by an evil force. It was believed that the poltergeist activity was but a manifestation of the devil, omnipresent in many imaginations of the era. Thus, in 1599, the Spanish Jesuit and historian Martin Antonio del Rio, included the poltergeist in their classification of 18 kinds of hell exactly sixteenth place: The sixteenth type are spectra that at times and places or houses are proposed cause various shocks and pains. Some upset at rest with the clinking of pots and throwing stones, others throw the mattress, dropping out of bed.

Although today there are people who argue that PKer can be attributed to the activity of spirits “elementary” in general is generally accepted that it is a natural, not supernatural. But we still do not know for sure the causes and reasons.

Poltergeist activities often have common features in many of its manifestations. Mysterious knocks and calls are often the first indications of the presence of a poltergeist. The Rev. Joseph Glanvill in 1666 recorded a famous case of this kind, if it is popularly known as “the drummer in Tidworth.” Two girls occupied a room from which came a strange drumming. Skeptics said that girls were causing the noise, but an investigation of the case showed that they were totally unrelated to the tapping, since their hands were always in sight of many witnesses. This example is somewhat of a “classic” since it is well documented as not reasons to doubt the authenticity of the phenomenon, although it has never been explained by means of “rational.” In 1848, the United States, the celebrated case of the Fox sisters seemed to confirm that the taps were the first indication of poltergeist activity. This case also produced the founding of the Spiritualist movement, when some witnesses assumed that certain spirits were trying to communicate through the two girls.

Another common effect of poltergeist activity is the movement of various objects. There are countless examples of this phenomenon, which can take many forms. Thus, newspapers reported on June 23, 1981 that the clocks located on a hair salon in Cullera (Valencia) 4 hours ahead mysteriously without anyone touching them. They had come to be placed inside the salon 7 or 8 clocks that worked well, and all of them several hours ahead. He even left a wristwatch without controls, that can not be manipulated, but also advanced several hours. Sometimes they are objects that appear and disappear without apparent reason, in different parts of the house, or even objects literally flying before the eyes of astonished witnesses.

Poltergeists video:
[youtube=
name="allowFullScreen"]

Unknown voices are also a common feature of PKer. Several theories have been postulated to explain this phenomenon, perhaps the most plausible is that of a nineteenth-century French doctor, Gilles de la Tourette, who identified some symptoms of severe stress and trauma victims and classified poltergeist phenomena as forms of copropraxia (enjoy the use of obscene language or use it inappropriately) and echolalia (senseless repetition of language models). He noted that some of their patients as well, “made obscene gestures.” According to this and other theories, sex drive or libido, may be at the root of many experiences PKer.

In the last century it was assumed that girls on the threshold of sexual maturity were to blame for all the mysterious incidents, and certainly many of the cases are related PKer girls who reach puberty. However, at present it is difficult to admit that this is the sole agent for the inconvenience. This new problem has helped more is known poltergeist cases that involved children or even grown men. One hundred years ago, the male victims were usually ignored PKer as contradicting the universally accepted hypothesis. In a famous case, that of the gifted English D. D. Home, which was thoroughly investigated, it was even said that it must be a homosexual.

The truth is, without doubt, that the sex imbalance may increase the sensory ability of some people, some recent cases suggest that PKer may be related to the frustrations and anguish. One such case occurred in Bavaria, Germany in 1967. A number of unexplained incidents were observed in an attorney’s office, accompanied by an alarming increase in the amount of phone bill. The electricity and telephone companies were alerted and asked to review the facilities of the building. An examination revealed that the number of time alone was activated. A well-known parapsychologist found the source of the incident in a 19 year old girl called Anne-Marie.

This had a notable effect on the office machines, he confessed, did not like: his step was pouring the liquid photocopier, while others seemed crazy devices. Apparently, Anne-Marie was not satisfied with their work. The only plausible explanation for the sharp increase in phone bill was that Anne-Marie was bored and mentally looked at the time, activating the number of time information. The day I married Anne-Marie, the incidents stopped altogether.

The most famous poltergeist cases in the Slovak Republic. The Slovak serious cases have occurred in the poltergeist Brunovciach (1899), Koterbachu (1928), Prešov (1930, 1933), Kosice, Barca (1933) and Bank of Piešťany (1941).

Brunovce, 1899

14th August 1899 in Brunovciach mysterious phenomenon occurred, which confirmed some fifty witnesses. The case began at nine o’clock in the morning and lasted several hours to break into the night. The whole event took place in an apartment gardener lapwing employed at the estate. In the presence of the lapwing and the administrator Mr. Joseph Witwara fell flat in a chair. Ing. Witwar picked up and checked it, saw it on but nothing special. Let’s close the windows and doors, and then again in the next room chair fell. In the next moment he fell in the kitchen cupboard. These strange phenomena like force followed a strange, because 20% of such movements took place in response to the comments of those present. For example, when turned over in the kitchen cupboard, the administrator called the strength to be built again. Time in different rooms dropped a few chairs, a table is dropped toys and put cupboard again. Then, an administrator with amazement watched a lid on the pot over the stove fall to the ground at short intervals, as if someone was throwing.

Ing. Witwar about these events, he wrote: “Everything that happened on the 14th August gardener’s flat in Brunoviciach took place without human intervention. We did not feel any vibration or drafts, or the presence of electricity and therefore believe that there is some yet unknown force. After lunch move out of the house all the furniture. In the evening he came into the room, Mr. Carbon, estate handyman, who took three bricks, came to the apartment, put it on the side of the wall and called the power to make them move. High brick just fell off the middle of the kitchen afterwards. Weiner gave the innkeeper had blatantly apparent when entering the room, his doubts, then blow earned double layer brushes, which fell on him. His comments are rather pochybovačných recanted when he saw bricks flying in the air. Railroad Ágh got back in the broom, which has left its place in the corner beside the stove and moved along the walls in the air. Another “the experimenters” John Tulis, who sat alone on a pile of wood in the chamber, he got only logs over the body so that for three days to treat injuries. Empty barrel, which stood in the chamber, chose to “travel around the room . How can we explain these events, we find a solution at all? heavy objects, furniture, boxes, tables, knocking over some kind of unknown force so that in a split second, turned around its center of gravity upside down and then took his old position. Another example: On tray stood together a few cups. The middle one of nowhere raised into the air and fell to the ground, but the other cups were no signs of movement in place. Poltergeist raging in Brunoviciach lasted only one day, while in the adjoining apartment, which was then same building, is not played anything special. ”

Kosice – Barca, 1933

In 1933, in the presence of some maids in Košice-Barco appeared in the air stones, which then fell on her head. These strikes, however, it did not hurt at all. When she was released from service, the mysterious phenomena ceased, but recurred in another place, where the maid moved.

Koterbach, 1927

In 1927, the Koterbachu in the presence of a thirteen year old boy suddenly appeared from stones and other objects that fell from the air, even went through the closed windows.

Presov, 1930

In season 4 – 18 December 1930, the house was heard knocking Prešov treasurer. Different things are moving, and flying through the air and are warm to the touch. The flying sparks flashed even blankets. These mysterious phenomena associated with sedmnáctiletým boy and a twelve girl.

Presov, 1933

In 1933, something like that again in Jarek street. You moved the chair, the head of sleeping girls dropped out of the air bag. When a mysterious force called the girls to knock nine, I really heard was nine strokes. When he somehow irritated, knocking louder. In the center of the action was a little girl about nine years, which sometimes felt as if her leg caught cold hand.

Bank of Piestany, 1941

Similarly, in 1941 the Bank took place in Piešťany special effects – the stones that fell through the ceiling or window to fifteen feet of girls. Nothing but the broken window and were very hot. People could be seen only when found in their immediate vicinity. The police threw away the stones, first identified and is therefore able to say that in a minute came back the same stones, the method described above back to the girl. Fell and other objects found in the room. Cups, bottles, bowls, plates, etc. But what was strange, these glass containers are not broken.

Taking a look into the possibility that there may be actual communication from the dead to the living through phone calls.

In the movie poltergeist 2 the telephone is an instrument in which the dead call the family after their grandmother’s death, however; in reality this peculiar phenomena is not a unique incident, it is something that happens quite frequently having been documented and reported by a wide range of people throughout the world.

In the 1970’s a parapsychologist named D.Scott Rogo, who was one of the most widely respected writer/journalists covering the all aspects of the paranormal, along with his colleague Raymond Bayless conducted a systematic inquiry into so-called phone messages from beyond the grave. They wrote a book with their finds in 1979 called ‘Phone Calls From The Dead.’

In most cases D. Scott Rogo and Raymond Bayless found that such calls only lasted for a short amount of time. No more then a few words spoken with static interference which usually overwhelmed the voice. When recipients innocently suggested a meeting with their caller, the caller would always turn them down politely.

Image via Wikipedia

An example from their work is of a woman named Mary Meredith, who in August 1977 returns home after a week in the hospital in Oklahoma, U.S.A. When Mary arrived home she found a letter from her mother informing her that her beloved cousin Shirley Jean had died. Just as she put the letter down the phone rang and a familiar voice said “Hi Mary, it’s Shirley Jean.”

Meredith accused the caller of playing a sick joke and slammed the phone down on the receiver angrily. The phone rang again and the same voice asked after Meredith’s health. The caller insisted she had been with Meredith in the hospital. The callers voice apparently rose and fell then faded all together with the interruption of static and the last words Mary heard was ‘Mary I will call you again.”

When D. Scott Rogo interviewed her several years later about this incident Meredith insisted she could not have mistaken her cousins voice as they had a very close relationship and spoke on the phone before her death on a frequent basis.

Their work inspired a comparable investigation in Italy. Emma Portpcalschi of Turin told the researcher G.M. Rinaldi of an incident that occurred with her in 1977. She just returned home from the hospital where her husband had died at 4 that morning. At seven o’clock the phone rang and a man asked ‘Emma ,why are you still at home?I am waiting for you.’
Stunned and frightened Portpcalschi recognized the voice as her late husband. Up to the day he died she had visited him at seven o’clock in the morning since he had been hospitalized.

A British author named Anthony Burgess who wrote a novel about a man who received calls from his dead wife in 1976 named the ‘Beard’s Roman Woman’ was asked by Rogo where the idea came from and Mr.Bugress told him the novel was essentially an autobiographical. The calls had taken place just as recounted in his book. “They were a damned nuisance,” Burgess admitted to Rogo.

D. Scott Rogo did not complete his investigations as he was murdered in his home in 1990 at the age of 40 and most parapsychologists now consider the evidence for for psychic phone calls too weak to be taken seriously.

Perhaps an explanation of this phenomena may be that the living simply cannot let go of their loved ones and derive comfort from believing they are still communicating with them. Or perhaps these calls do really happen and the dead actually have found a way to communicate with the living. Either way I am not sure which side to take but I will end this by taking a quote I wrote quite some time ago and let you decide, ‘Sometimes the impossible is possible which would explain the unexplainable.’

It is known to many that the tale of evil spirits hiding inside a child's doll is one scary thought and tale that has been told for decades. Read on...if you dare...

It is something we all probably grew up with and a fear we all do our best to ignore. That fear is the common doll. How many of you have owned or know of someone who has one sat up on a shelf somewhere in the house or just lying around?

What I am talking about is dolls that appear to us as possessed.

Despite sales of dolls being massive through the years, the fact remains that most of us really don’t like them. It isn’t because they don’t look good, but for some reason most of us pretty well despise them. Why? Well throughout history stories have been told that many dolls are capable of manifesting some form of spirit and this spirit is often evil.

Just take a look at how Hollywood promotes this popular myth in some of their well known horror movies!

So how many people are actually disturbed by dolls?

Hmm, that is open for debate but for fun try an experiment. Walk into work, college or speak to your friends and ask them their feelings on dolls. Chances are half will probably come back with comments regarding possession or evil. Also when they give their opinion they will either politely dismiss it with a nervous chuckle to disguise their real thoughts or they will tell you how they feel with a cold shudder running down the back of their spines.

So what dolls are known as the most evil?

Porcelain dolls are reported as probably being the most disturbing to most. This is especially true for the ones that have jointed arms and legs that appear to just hang “limp”. These can appear to be scary and the illusion is that plays in our darkest thoughts is that one night they will just stare at us and then get up and start walking towards us. If that is the case one word of advice to those that harbor such thoughts and who own such a doll: Keep it well away from the kitchen knife drawer!

Other dolls are those of clowns or a ventriloquists dummy. Both disturbing. To most people clowns are considered fun but take a look at some great tales, especially from the mind of Stephen King and other great writers and then ask if they are funny.

So why is this the case with such dolls?

This type of doll as we just mentioned has limbs that hang freely. That in itself for some reason casts a careful warning in our minds, especially the fear attached to the concious psyche part. The feeling of being in the presence of an “other” is increased the more closely an object resembles a human being and such “hanging limbs” adds to that illusion.

Overcoming or dismissing such disturbing thoughts as fantasy is often achieved by laughing it off, telling yourself this is the stuff of movies and ghost stories or just turning a blind eye. But chances are if you are within visual range you will quickly turn them around so that staring doll faces the wall. Other times you may take it out the room or avoid the room with the doll in altogether. Others have been known to throw them out of windows or dispose of completely if they can’t take much more. To many, whatever they do with the doll, at some point they will suffer nightmares where the doll came to life. In a worst case scenerio the dolls actually attacked them!

The thought sends a shudder through you just thinking about it…

The irony of this all is that doll sales continue to be relatively high, despite our darker sides of our minds playing tricks on us to frighten us to death. This combined with old wives tales of possessed dolls coming to life! Hollywood continuing to mimic the idea and give it a new twist, doll sales never ever seem to dwindle much! Maybe we enjoy that fear?

So what causes these tales?

The fact that spirits attach themselves to any object is strange but often reported. Dolls usually remain a constant source of such reports because dolls have the obvious human features and limbs. The theories behind such doll possessions or spirit type attachments can include a traumatic event that possibly happened close to the doll. Others can be a child’s emotional attachment to the doll and by this it can be a way in which a spirit can be invited into the doll. This is because the energy is focused on the doll and results in the summoning of a spirit. In worst case scenrios this spirit invited into the doll can be evil.

What is seen and what is heard?

Dolls, despite their scary presence and look about them, are still considered by many paranormal researchers as being a weak vehicle for possession by spirits. However for those that are possessed the most common effects of a spirit induced doll are voices, laughter, crying, icey cold spots on or close to the doll. Others are the feeling you are constantly being watched, at no matter what angle you place the doll. Think of looking at a portrait of a person. At times it is like the eyes never let go of you.

Other traits with the dolls are unexplainable movements or objects moving close to where the doll is situated. With this in mind and depending on the severity of what is taking place, the possessed doll can be anything from comforting to completely evil!

Examples of dolls coming to life

Hollywood and story tellers have taken this myth or legend or paranoia, call it what you will and made it a hugely marketable concept.

One of the best examples is Pinocchio. Still this doll is pretty tame compared to the horror movies of late where dolls are said to be possessed. Such programmes as The Twilight Zone covered the idea. Chucky is a well known horror movie where the dolls are completely evil and are possessed by murderous spirits. Then you have the children’s innocent portrayal such as Toy Story which captures everyone’s imagination where toys have a life all of their own when humans are not present.

There are other movies too that harbor this concept and twist it to terrorise the hell out of us. Poltergeist is one where in a scene the clown doll comes to life and in Doll Graveyard an army of murdering dolls decide to terrorise people in an old house. Magic is another, where a ventriloquist’s doll is evil and attempts to take control over a man and his life. Puppet Master is also another well known product coming out of the minds of Hollywood writers to freak us all out.

So it is there for us all to see and after reading this article you may avoid any doll your eyes have the misfortune of falling across for sometime, whether in your house, in a friend’s house or when browsing the shops.

When your kids reach up to grab one from the toy shelf no doubt in the back of your mind you will remind yourself of this article and make a polite excuse not to purchase for your son or daughter. But whatever you may do, the fact that dolls having the ability of being possessed is too frightening to just ignore.

This will no doubt continue until we are all long gone. Maybe, just maybe when we are, our spirits may just find themselves nestling into one sitting high up on an innocent child’s or person’s shelf somewhere – watching ever so carefully - and waiting…
