Each time you throw a can, bottle, wrapper, piece of gum, or any kind of garbage into a lake, pond, stream, river, or ocean, you are causing water pollution. If we would all just dispose of all of our waste products properly, none of this would happen. Garbage cans exist for a reason.

Also, big factories and cities think that it’s alright to dump waste and garbage into the ocean. Different companies dump different wastes wherever they want. Even if they aren’t dumping garbage directly into the water, it will still eventually work its way down to a source of water in the Earth.

The water in the ocean is used for many different things that help us live. The major one, of course, is it supplies us with something to drink! With nasty polluted garbage water, we wouldn’t have anything healthy to drink.

So, the next time you take a walk on the beach or at the park, make sure you dispose of your garbage properly. Use a garbage can, not our planet.

Recycling doesn’t just help the environment, but also helps create jobs. When people switch from not have recycling to having them, this requires workers to make the cans and jobs are made for distributors, too. Then when recycled materials are picked up, a crew and special vehicles are needed, which means parts are made at numerous factories and to make the machines. Not only are new vehicles made, but others are modded and when the trucks break, more parts must be made. After they’re collected, they go to different plants and facilities where works are need. When required, materials are transported and that means more drivers and vehicles.

          Much, much less energy is used to make goods for recycled materials than from new materials. Take glass for example. The amount of energy saved from recycling one glass bottle can run a 100-watt light bulb for four hours. Not only that, but it causes 20% less air pollution and 50% less water from getting into the environment. Also, recycling one aluminum can could save enough energy to run a TV for three hours! That’s 95% less energy than it takes to make an aluminum can from new materials.

          The most important reason to recycle is the amount of recourses saved. Not only are materials saved, but space in landfill is also saved. For every ton of paper that is recycled, 3 cubic yards of space is saved in landfills. Also saved are 380 gallons of oil and 7,000 gallons of water. At first if it doesn’t seem like much it adds up and the amount of materials saved is overwhelming.

          Recycling is good for the environment and economy, and there are many reasons it is, from making jobs to using less energy and fewer materials. If we all recycle the world will be cleaner and life will be easier. Remember, recycle and go green.
