My Eventful Fourth Year – 1965

The most eventful year of my life was the fourth – 1965.

It was the last time I remember going to a drive in. My sister and I were in the folded down back part of our station wagon in our pajamas. The movie was “The Sons of Katie Elder”. Until recently I did not realize what year that movie was made – 1965.

I was deathly afraid of dogs. Terrified even. My parents bought Teresa, a standard dachshund to help me overcome my fear. I was four. She died when I was a senior in high school at age 14. I was 18 my senior year. According to the math – 1965 again.

I had trouble breathing at night which led to the removal of my tonsils. I am told I was four. I do not remember the occasion except that I ate ketchup on chicken.

I lost my left big toe to a lawnmower accident that year. There is a family polaroid of me in a wheelchair at Christmas dated December 1965.

When I was young, other kids would wonder if we had found my missing toe on the lawn. I told them I was in the hospital so long they probably disposed of it before I returned home. As an adult, people wondered if I had trouble with balance. The other comment I hear a lot is that it must have hurt my father, as he was operating the lawnmower. My standard response is that I was only four and do not recall.

I recall my father carrying me from the station wagon into my aunt’s house to listen to my relatives play music. The year – 1965 – my aunt and uncle moved out of that house when I was four.

I have many things that came as a direct result of my fourth year. I was terrified of shots and was proud of the fact it took five nurses to hold me down at the age of nine. My first memories are from 1965 due to its seemingly tragic nature. I avoid hospitals like the plague and freak out at the sight of blood – forever ceiling my fate not in the medical profession.

There are also some good points. And I have the world’s best excuse for loving to shoe shop and owning fifty plus pairs of shoes. After all, it’s all about the justification. What is your excuse?

Why I Have To Be Eternally Positive

With my childhood upbringing (lacking in so many ways) and scary beginnings, I cannot afford to be negative. Depression is just one step away. Depression can cause all kinds of issues from eating and sleeping disorders to suicidal tendencies.

Take time to look at your own outlook. If you see any signs of negativity, cure them. If you are really bad, seek help. There are many licensed professionals out there who would love to help you. And there are some good ones. If nothing else, talk to someone anonymously on one of those free help call in lines.

You may be amazed by the results!

How to motivate yourself toward the positive aspects in your life.

Every once in a while everyone needs a little motivation. It does not matter what kind of motivation you might be in need of; it is just a good habit to get yourself into thinking positive. It will not only help you in a lot of challenges in your life, but having a good way to motivate yourself helps anyone to have good self esteem.

Always set a side some time for yourself to concentrate on the positive things that are going on in your life. Thinking about all the positive things in your life, will help get you motivated in your current outlets in life.

Try not to focus on the negative things this will just cause you some lack of focusing on the positive things you can have going for yourself. Once you are able to push your negative thoughts to the back of your mind, you will be able to motivate yourself to always move forward in your positive way of thinking. This is an important fact in keeping yourself motivated in a positive way.

Anyone lacking motivation knows that someone telling him or her to stay motivated is harder to do. However, anyone can get himself or herself motivated by meditating on themselves and their goals in a positive aspect. So remember motivation is a positive thing to help you succeed in what ever your goal in life might be.
