In 1959 that all changed I overheard the adults talking about a 12 year old girl,

that had been brutally raped and murdered.

I didn’t really understand, but I was scared and horrified.

How could someone hurt and kill a child?

The accused was a fourteen year old boy.

That’s when I first started being wary of strangers.

My innocence was lost, and I felt sick to even think this evil existed.

Over the years crimes of this nature have increased dramatically.

Remember that super hero that used to say

“no one knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men”.

God does know, Read Romans: I2:21 Do not overcome evil with evil but overcome evil with good.

There are still good God fearing, decent folks left.

I know quite a few and would trust them with my life.

Because of the fear of evil we have lost most of our right to privacy,

and it is just a notion that we are innocent until proven guilty.

The fourth amendment in the USA that is supposed to guard against,

Unreasonable searches or seizures is made useless.

You can even be spied on by the police or Government in your bedroom.

If they have suspicions about you they can send a camera via a drone to look in your windows.

They may be trying to protect society but have they gone too far?

Then there is Google earth and cameras everywhere, and cell phones can be located and listened to.

I had to get an extensive criminal check to serve children refreshments at a children’s church club.

It is not a problem when you have nothing to hide, but it makes you feel invaded or under suspicion.

Trust in this society is very hard to come by and with good reason.

Should all are privacy be taken away because of criminals?

I don’t have all the answers but please give me the benefit of the doubt.

Just because I look a certain way or dress a certain way (wear a hoodie) am I a criminal.

What about being in a place that you don’t think I should be in?

Many innocent people have been shot and even killed by law enforcement.

Some innocent people have been in prison for many years, and even on death row.

Remember the rape and murder case I mentioned at the beginning of my story?

That young man was fourteen year old Steven Truscott that was sentenced to be hanged in 1960.

Later his sentence was commuted to life imprisonment, (he always claimed he was innocent).

In 2007 after his case was re-opened with modern evidence he was acquitted.

This act is a law, released by the US Government in response to the attacks of September 11th 2001, meant to enforce the American security system. Its main purpose was to give federal officials additional power and control over the population (they were allowed to monitor one’s phone calls, e-mail, library activity, medical and financial records etc.). In addition to its original text, another 3 elements were added in May 2011, and signed by the president Barack Obama (wiretaps, continuous research on personal records and people who are considered ‘individual threats’).

Despite the fact that this was signed by  president George W. Bush in 2001 and has been extended to another 4 years, giving it a total of 14 years, this PATRIOTIC act is not necessarily the best solution for this kind of situation. Isn’t there a possibility that, being still in shock after an attack that killed over 3000 people in only a couple of hours, the US officials took a hasty and overprotective (almost paranoid decision)? This is the main reason why certain arguments, pro and cons have been elaborated.

Among the pro arguments we meet the following justifications: a).terrorism is a one way act (a terrorist can only be charged with something only after he has committed a crime, but by then it would be too late); b).if justice is not strict enough, many people can die (a lower degree of security can lead to ‘easy crimes’ and at the same time the possibility of surveilling a suspicious person may prevent catastrophic consequences);c).since the power is in the hands of the people and the constitution is just, the American government cannot push the boundaries and intrude in people’s lives (the executive branch is not allowed to search homes, personal belongings, computers, or ‘the opening of domestic mail without a court order, and our intelligence professionals are not using the Act to conduct such searches.’; d).improved methods of data collection (TIA) help separate the innocent people from those who have something to hide and discourage terrorists by consuming their time and energy , or forcing them to re-organize.

On the other hand, the contra arguments are also quite convincing: a). depriving the Americans of their civil liberties is unconstitutional and give terrorists extra confidence in their cause; b). the government might abuse its power and take advantage of it even when it is not the case (for example some private information may be used in other purposes, just to hurt those who actually want to do something for the country); c). also, this act tacitly agrees with discrimination, promoting the preconceived idea that if one person is bad, those who are from the same background, are the same. This leads to another problem: pushing people to the extreme (some Muslims might not agree with their peers, but seeing this constant hate and harassment would encourage them in a negative direction).

In my opinion, the US PATRIOTIC ACT is somewhere in between constitutional and unconstitutional. Probably this is the main reason why it was made so ambiguous, so that people could dwell on it but never truly disintegrate it. I believe that intruding into someone’s privacy is very wrong and inappropriate simply because this is the contemporary normality and democracy itself states that this is one of the most valuable rights a person can have. On the other hand it is justified to want to protect the American nation from horrible events like the 2001 attack, and it seems like no measure is strict enough to prevent terrorists from infiltrating into people’s lives. Laws only work if the people who put them into practice actually respect them (with inflexions or not), but there will always be some who want more or simply want to manipulate the law in their best interest. The basic idea is that people’s intimacy should be respected and this act should only be applied to those persons who actually offer serious reasons to become potential aggressors.

In what concerns the idea of limiting citizen’s freedoms during times of war, I think that this would be a bad decision since people might feel constrained and opt to fight with the enemy. It is understandable that during a war, the entire situation changes, but you cannot expect people to accommodate very easy with a tense environment. So taking away the only thing that might actually urge them to fight harder and reestablish their pre-war situation does not seem like a good idea. But according to the principle that ‘the majority rules,’ in a war not everyone has the same ideals, so there are people who want to fight against their own country by means of espionage. For these and others like them, strengthening security sounds like the right thing to do.

Furthermore, the Korematsu v. US represented a big mistake in the eyes of the Americans and gave those who are already against the PATRIOT ACT additional evidence against this law. The text of the Executive Order 9066 signed by Franklin Roosevelt does not specify any particular nationality in its original form- ’(….)to prescribe military areas in such places and of such extent as he or the appropriate Military Commander may determine, from which any or all persons may be excluded(….),’so the act of convicting Fred Korematsu just because he had Japanese ancestors was pretty drastic. At the same time it managed to scatter the American’s trust in their government, enforcing the idea that law is manipulated in order to corespond to certain situations. And that if the officials had absolute powers like the PATRIOTIC ACT intends to give, they would use information in their own interest. So people rapidly started thinking: What if this had happend to me?

However, if a similar law would be passed in Romania I think people would dismiss it. The Romanian people is somehow more aggressive (I don’t know whether it is in their blood or they became like this due to the years spent under the communist regime) and only the notion of taking their privacy would suffice to make them rebel. Probably they consider that the government has already taken a lot from them and this is one thing that has got to remain theirs, so they would rather die than give them satisfaction. Many have already experienced the communist regime and know what it is to have their privacy broken, so reliving it on the account that your country is protected is not much of a consolation anymore.

But Romania is a country full of surprises, where everything is possible, so we can really expect many things to happen.

As a conclusion, it can be stated that the US PATRIOTIC ACT is something necessary in a place like the USA, where the terrorist danger is much more present than in other countries, like Romania, but this does not give anyone the right to take advantage of it. One thing remains clear: the law is given by those elected by the people, so in one way or another, the American citizens are responsible for their own choices.

Succeeding at something that seems unattainable can be very difficult. It can be made even more difficult when your family and friends know what you are trying to achieve but they go out of their way to prevent you from working on your goal.

After speaking with a friend recently about her education (I actually used to mention my own higher education but not anymore, and for a very good reason), I immediately thought of my own, but more importantly, the similar experience I went through with a career goal sprang to mind. It can be a tragic thing to work hard at something, put a lot of time, money and effort into something, just to have it confiscated from you by family and friends in the name of “concern for your welfare.” Imagine pouring hours, time, money into something you really love. Why do families do this to other family members?

Many time a family can become anxious and lose a family member if the latter has a desire to get ahead, achieve something great and unusual that no one else in the family has. Achievements as such can lead to jealousy, dissent, even accusing the person of putting one’s goals ahead of family. Here, there is a zero-sum game between family and its individual members, or at least is perceived to be. The friend told me that she had no intention of giving in to her family whatsoever since she was responsible for her own self-development. True to form in the Ayn Rand school of Objectivist thought, my friend is a real-life example of how one can overcome obstacles when attempting to pursue a goal. Some people believe that if one is silent about one’s goals, one has a greater chance of achieving the goals. Conversely, if one decides to tell every living person, family and friends included, about certain goals, obtaining those goal will be short-changed. When this happens, all kinds of emotions can run wild, from frustration, self-abnegation, and depression. Lacking the capacity to forgive those who have destroyed one’s dreams can also arise. This is the downside of being prevented from pursuing one’s dreams and can have life-long consequences.

But it is not just the pursuing of a college degree that can invite comments of disdain from others. Having a bachelor’s degree then going on to pursue a master’s degree can also result in similar treatment from the wrong people. Consider the individual who casually mentions this situation to a friend. The friend is a college graduate, has a bachelor’s degree, and has a full-time job making good money. Yet for some reason the friend is not happy about her friend pursuing an advanced degree. This actually happened to me, when I then realized I made a big mistake about discussing my academic goals with someone else. Later on I understood her jealousy of me through someone else. On the surface it seems like this person probably wanted an advanced degree too but chose not to pursue it, or was prevented by doing so on the part of family and friends.

Since then – the incident took place seven years ago – I have never mentioned nor discussed my higher education with anyone. If someone asks me if I’ve been to college, I reply honestly with a “Yes.” But that is all I say, then move on to another subject. For some people, myself included, in-depth discussion of education is very private territory, on a par with religion, politics, and sex.

What is ACTA and why has it been kept a secret from the general public?ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, a multi-national agreement for the purpose of establishing international standards for intellectual property rights enforcement. The supposed purpose of the agreement is to establish an international legal standard or framework to handle counterfiet products,generic medicines and copyright enfringement of intellectual property on the internet.It would do this by creating a new governing body outside of the World Trade Organization, the World Intellectual Property Organization, and the United Nations.

So why all the secracy and why has our government literally tried to sneak this by the citizens of the United States?Several EU (European Union)countries that intially signed the agreement have now pulled their support for the agreement and have recanted on their signatures.After thorough review several countries feel that ACTA is against the fundemental rights of freedom of expression and would adversly affect user’s privacy online.What is this secret agreement in reality?

The “Elite” feel that no matter who or what it is, they are entitled to have their hand in it. For years now the tension between the internet and “Men of power”has been ever more visible. These two groups are threatened by true freedom and the ability of the common public to obtain unbiased and factual information. Power and capitol gain are put on a more level playing field when individuals have the information they need to make decisions.

If ACTA were meant to actually protect people’s intellectual property and were not simply a means to “Launder Corrupt Policies”it would have been totally transparent and any information pertaining to it would be readily available for anyone’s inspection,but it is not. This “secrecy”is an indication of it’s true merit,corrupt and invasive with a smile and promise of the greater good.

The United States governmental and law enforcement officials have wanted to use the internet as a means of privacy invasion and information control and is a “huge thorn in the side”for those who usually work above and around the law.This great democracy we live in”promotes” political unrest and demonstration as an unalienable right when it pertains to third world countries and dictators abroad ,yet takes away the right of it’s own citizens to have peaceful, legal protest.(Occupy America)

We as a people are at a turning point in history and if we do not stand up for our rights now,in the not-so-far-future we won’t have those rights.ACTA is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg,when IP’s police and collect information on their users things will begin to snowball quickly. I fear that we may have been too”complacent” and too “naive” for years and to take this great land back will be next to impossible.

Lately the focus on celebrities private life has become more of a focus then on the talent they are suppose to be judged on. People who have become very angry about their privacy on social networks have been some of the biggest invaders on the privacy of celebrities.

The focus on the private lives of celebrities has began to interfere with them being judged on their singing, dancing, and acting. Now people are beginning to judge celebrities based on actions they take in their personal lives. This has included things such as: going to the beach, going shopping, going on dates, or going to clubs and having fun.

Now the celebrities that many people love and also love to hate and speak bad on have had their privacy violated and I do not feel that they should have to deal with this. I feel it is pretty sad when a celebrity can not go on a date or out with a friend without a thousand pictures being snuck and posted on many different website saying that they are dating somebody or cheating on a current partner. Also issue that many celebrities get involved with surrounding the law have began to be more publicised and in many cases it is the police or other people who work the cases that have began to release this information. I feel like nobody wants an issue with the law put online and their business aired so why are we doing this to celebrities they have the same right to privacy as anybody else does. Just because they chose to entertain for a living does not mean they do not diserve the same rights as anybody else.

If you think about it many of the celebrities just want to entertain their fans but also want have some privacy they don’t want to feel like the second they leave their house they are gonna get attacked with pictures. They have a right to go out on dates or hang out with friends or just have fun without it ending up on a million different websites. If they chose to release pictures or statues that different cause they are choosing to let the world in but to just take pictures without them knowing it is a clear violation of their rights. 

I understand the world likes to keep up with celebrities because i enjoy that to but their is a line that has to be drawn of what is okay and what is just going to far. 

Before the public continues to invade celebrities privacy people need to stop and think about how they would feel if it happened to them.

Ever since Louis D. Brandeis co-authored  the article “The Right to Privacy” (Harper’s Law Review 1890), the issue of privacy has become an increasingly important one for American citizens. Brandeis’s premise in that article was that the press violating the right of ordinary citizens to be left alone, to not have their lives and their personal space invaded. Later, as Supreme Court Justice, he used this argument in a Supreme Court Decision (Olmstead Vs the US).  His article and decision on the right of privacy has led to the enactment of laws and legal precedence for the right of privacy. Today, laws on the right of privacy fall into one of four categories: 1) the misappropriation of one’s name or likeness for commercial means; 2) the public revelation of private facts; 3) unreasonable intrusion upon seclusion; and 4) portraying someone in a false light.

The Constitution and the Right of Privacy

While the right to privacy is not stated explicitly in the constitution or any of the amendments, the bill of rights as well as the 14th amendment reflect the concerns of our founding fathers for at least some aspects of privacy. The first amendment protects the right for private and personal religious beliefs. The 3rd amendment protects citizens’ rights to keep their homes private against governmental demands to house soldiers.  The fourth amendment provides privacy of people and their possessions against unreasonable search and seizure. The fifth amendment protects our personal information in that no one can be made to testify to facts that might implicate them in a crime. The 9th amendment states that none of the rights afforded by the Constitution could be used to deny any of the other rights held by the people; which is reinforced by Section 1 of amendment 14.  These amendments are listed here.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Amendment III

No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law

Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Amendment V

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Amendment IX

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

AMENDMENT XIV

Passed by Congress June 13, 1866. Ratified July 9, 1868.

Note: Article I, section 2, of the Constitution was modified by section 2 of the 14th amendment.

            Section 1.
All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

            Section 2.
Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed. But when the right to vote at any election for the choice of electors for President and Vice-President of the United States, Representatives in Congress, the Executive and Judicial officers of a State, or the members of the Legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such State, being twenty-one years of age,* and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens shall bear to the whole number of male citizens twenty-one years of age in such State.

            Section 3.
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

            Section 4.
The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.

            Section 5.
The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

Misappropriation of Name or Likeness

Misappropriation of name or likeness can be used against the press and against advertisers as a form of  invasion of privacy. In this case the person must be living and the defendant in such cases must have used the name or likeness (or nowadays, even the person’s voice) without that person’s permission. The exception to this rule is where say a person who’s running for office uses his or her opponent’s name and likeness as a part of their campaign ads. This law has been used many times by celebrities whose identities have been used for publicity without their consent.

Public Disclosure of Private Facts

The press, or any writer for that matter, may find themselves at the wrong end of a lawsuit if they publicly disclose private facts about private citizens. According to the Associated Press Style Book, these type of complaints are claimed about “1) publicity, 2) which the reasonable person would find highly offensive, 3) concerning private information about the plaintiff” – the person  filing suit for this form of privacy invasion. Some state laws further stipulate that the publicized information not be tied to legitimate public  concern or public interest. However, the Supreme Court upholds the First Amendment right of freedom of the press, in that, once a piece of information becomes a matter of public record (e.g. court documents of any kind – arrest, law suit, divorce, adoption, etc.), all bets are off. At this point, the information is no longer private.

Under this law, the writer or reporter must have disclosed private facts over and above what was essential for telling the story. The disclosed facts must be private enough, and unrelated to the facts already disclosed, that spilling these facts would offend any ordinary citizen.

Intrusion Upon Seclusion

This form of privacy invasion states that the defendant (writer or member of the press) intended to commit this intrusion on the claimant’s solitude or seclusion, either violating their privacy at home and other private circumstances (i.e. vacation, church, sunbathing in their backyard) , or their private personal affairs. This type of invasion comes in 3 forms: clandestine surveillance; trespassing on someone’s property; and gaining access to information under false pretenses. Under this law, when one person hounds, harasses or otherwise commits unreasonable surveillance against another person, even though it may have been done publicly or in a semi-private place (anyplace where a person would have a reasonable expectation of privacy), the person being hounded or harassed has cause to bring suit.

False Light

A writer or reporter pus someone in a false light when publishing a story about person which portrays them in a negative light, and the offended party actually had no connection with that story. For example, let’s say a young man happened to have been standing in front of a store that just got robbed, but even though he had nothing to do with the robbery, the way the story is written makes it look as though he was in on it somehow. A second version of this invasion of privacy claims involves images of person placed near a story or broadcast along with a story, which, due to its proximity to that story, puts the person in the pictures in a bad or false light. In this case, the story is falsely attributed to that person anyway, or falsely insinuates that the person is guilty of whatever is being told in the story.

These days, with the internet so widespread, with news channels pumping out stories round the clock as they happen, and with more and more of our private and personal information being stored on computers, the dangers of someone hacking into those computers and using our personal information publicly grows. As private citizens, it makes us feel like nothing is sacred or private anymore. All the more reason not to become part of the privacy problem by committing acts of invasion of privacy when writing about other people.

Now what does this tell you about the person you’ve just met? 

Generally speaking, for the first one:

• If the stranger is female and you’re female as well then it’s either she’s a very sexual person and wants you to share your experiences OR she’s a lesbian.
• If the stranger is male then of course he’s interested in the woman he’s talking to or he’s gay if he’s talking to a guy (or maybe he just wants to brag about his escapades).

For the second one:

• It shows that they are interested in who you are and not how sexually active you are.

I just don’t get it when people who just a few minutes ago were strangers suddenly ask you about your love/sex life when you aren’t even friends yet. The only thing i can think of is that they are more attuned to their bodies and material things than they are to their minds or spirit.

Call me old-fashioned or conservative but my sexual life is not for public consumption. I don’t share it around to people i just met who aren’t even my friends yet. I don’t even share that much to my friends because it’s my body, it’s my life and they don’t need to know what i do with my body. 

I mean if you want to know more about someone, it doesn’t need to start with their sexuality unless that person is also open to talking about such and broached the subject first. And don’t put the person on the spot in a group later on by asking him or her about it in front of everyone just because you couldn’t ask him/her personally.

Like srsly people? Hello? Not everyone is as liberated as you would think. Bear in mind that there are people who are stilll conservative and not comfortable talking about private stuff like their sex lives especially to people they just met a day or two or even a week ago. Just because you or they are now in a new place/environment doesn’t mean you have to know how sexual they are. What they do with their partners (or what their relationship status is) is initially none of your business. 

The first thing you should keep in mind is not to put too much personal information about yourself, your family, your work and your habits on-line.

Never put personal information like your address or telephone number on-line.

Above all, to avoid collecting new stalkers, do not associate your picture or your child’s picture with any information. Avoid putting photographs out altogether. If you want to share a photo with someone you know, send it in a private e-mail – not through a social networking site.

Making Yourself Invisible On-line

If you are actively experiencing a stalker, you will want to pull your information from every place on-line you can. Remove photos and personal information. You will have to do a Google search on your own name and personal information to determine what a stalker can see about you. Contact web sites and have them change or remove your information. In many cases, you cannot remove information, you can only change it.

Keep off of social networking, dating and other types of networking sites. Even professional sites like LinkedIn are a favorite of Stalkers. Do not Tweet or Facebook. If you have a Facebook account or Linked in account permanently delete them. Deleting is not the same as de-activating. Change your Twitter information and delete any old Tweets that make reference to your name or anything that could connect a stalker to you.

If the stalker has your e-mail or phone number, you should change those.

Be Aware of Cell Phone Stalking Software

Be aware that a person who has access to your phone can apply software to it to stalk you, watch you, listen to your conversations even when you’re not on a call, intercept your phone calls and download your pictures and text messages. If you suspect your cell phone has been tampered with, contact your service provider and have them walk you through re-loading your operating system. This should clear out the software. Put a password protect on your phone and never let anyone else have access to it, again.

Defending Yourself from Stalkers

Real life stalkers as well as those you’ve acquired on-line may try to come after you at your work place or at home. Let everyone know you’re having a problem so they can help look out for you. If you work outside your house, always have someone escort you to and from your car.

Stay armed as well as you can. There are restrictions on firearms and other types of defensive weapons, but do the best you can to stay safe without getting yourself into other problems. Despite what any man-made law says, you have the right to defend yourself.

If you have the option of driving different cars on the way to your destination, don’t take the same car everyday. (A friend narrowly avoided possibly being attacked by a stalker she didn’t know she had when she changed vehicles. This confused him. He was nabbed by the cops in the course of pursuing her. Unfortunately, there were no anti-stalking laws in that state and the cops had to let him go, but they did warn us that she was being stalked. The stalker was unknown to her. We still don’t know who he was, nor did the cops advise us of this. Changing cars, your appearance and your routine can save your life.)

Be conscious of anyone following you. Keep your eye on your review mirror. If you see someone is following you, call 911 or drive to a nearby police station or any place where there are a lot of people. If the person following you seems to be a stranger and probably doesn’t know where you live, try not to go home. Drive around a little until you lose them.

If you are being stalked around your house, remove your mailbox completely and get a private mailbox (not a post office box) so you can accept both regular mail and deliveries from other mailing services like UPS and FedEx. A mailbox at your house is dangerous because the perpetrator can get information about your from your mailbox, even if he doesn’t steal your mail.

If you can, remove your house numbers. If someone gets your address and is trying to find you, they may have a more difficult time if they aren’t sure which house is yours.

Don’t take out the garbage, especially at night. Never do it routinely. If you don’t have to have a trash service, get rid of it. People are commonly attacked when they are performing some routine act outside their home.

When you must go out, anywhere, make use of hats, different hair styles, different types of clothing, dark glasses and hoods.

Do not adhere to a routine of any kind. Do not be predictable.

Stay indoors. If you have to be outside alone, be armed and ready to defend yourself.

Never open your door to anyone – ever!

Again, you can try to tell people around you you’re having a problem. Some of them may be understanding, but don’t be surprised if they just think your paranoid – after all, it isn’t happening to them.

You can even contact the police, but chances are they won’t be much help to you until you’re dead. The only thing you can do is try to protect yourself. Avoidance of stalkers you already have and trying not to acquire new ones is the best strategy.

The issue and public concern of privacy rights in the workplace is always growing; especially within the United States. How would you feel if your private phone conversations made from within your place of work were always recorded? What about issues with cameras and constant monitoring? Do you feel your company has the right to watch what you’re doing at all times? And then there are issues such as calls made. More than likely all calls made from your place of employment are logged at all times. This way a manager or fellow employee can tell who you’ve been calling. for some these are disturbing and rather upsetting issues. After all, how much privacy rights in the workplace are actually aloud. Whether you agree with these notions or not will likely not change the way major businesses and large companies do things. When it comes down to it, they generally have the right operate this way. As an employee of their company, you are subject to scrutiny.

No one harps on any subject concerning privacy rights in the workplace more than the drug testing issue. This one redundantly appears over and over again. Many employees feel that random drug testing invades their private lives. However, you have to consider the jobs people do on a day-to-day basis. What all is involved with their positions, and how will illegal substances affect their performance?
