This essay describes those memory tricks that helps us to remember things efficiently.

What’s the biggest problem with memory tricks? Remembering to use them, of course. There are many memory techniques that work well, but you’ll forget them when you need them most – unless you make using them a habit. So when you take the time to learn a technique, use it until it becomes automatic. Here are some to try.

Using a Story-List

I went to a party as a child. There was a game that involved looking at a table covered in 15 various items. After a few minutes, we were taken to another room, and each child was given paper and a pencil. We had to write down as many items as we could remember. I recalled seven or eight, but one boy won the prize by remembering all 15 items.

Years later I learned why he won. His father taught him a simple trick that none of us other kids knew. The technique is to tie the items together in an imaginative story. For example, what if you want to remember a list of the following things: Soap, milk, honey, fork, and flowers.

Start a vivid story in your imagination, adding each item to it as you go: At the sink, you reach for the SOAP. The soap dish is full of MILK, so you wash your hands in that. Then you comb HONEY into your hair with a FORK, and finally pick up a bouquet of FLOWERS and smile at the mirror. Say each item while mentally reviewing your “movie,” and you’ll remember all five things, even the next day.

Some Other Memory Tricks

Tell yourself to remember. When you learn a person’s name, for example, tell yourself, “remember that”. This signals your unconscious mind to rank this input as more important.

Know WHY you want to remember something, and HOW you’ll remember it. To remember a person, for example, ask why they’ll be important to you in the future, imagine where you’ll see them next, and connect that to anything you notice about them. Seeing the importance of remembering really helps, and additional associations (where you expect to see the person next) set the memory more firmly in your brain.

Do you ever forget where you put your car keys? You’ve probably tried retracing your steps, at least doing it in your imagination. This can work well, but even better is to prevent the forgetting beforehand. When you set the keys on the chair, see yourself walking in and setting the keys on the chair. You won’t forget where they are.

There are many more of these memory tricks. If you want them to be useful, though, don’t just read about them. Make a memory technique or two into a habit, starting today.

What is intelligence? what is it to be intelligent?

What is it to be intelligent?

Your intelligence relies on your ability to retain information and extract it when needed. For an example when you are having a maths exam the outcome of that test relies on your ability to extract previously learned information. That previously learned information had to be retained with in your brain for you to later call upon for use, in this case for use in a maths exam. Now retaining and extracting information does not sound hard, so why aren’t we all geniuses? We aren’t because we humans get distracted when retaining information, we also forget information that we have not used in a while. For instance a 50 year old will more than likely have forgotten how to do algebraic equations that they once knew how to do when they were 16. Now the retained information about algebraic equations is still there but the pathways to it within your brain have not been used in a while, so it harder and takes longer to extract that information, sometimes pathways are rendered useless and cannot ever extract the information along that specific pathway. However new pathways can be formed to retrieve the information, an example of this is a sudden remembrance of an event you may of experienced and you needed a certain smell or image to rebuild the path way or in a common phrase “jog your memory”. So retaining and extracting information are the foundations of intelligence. The most important part however is the ability to think objectively. Thinking objectively, to put it simply is to get things done. You set yourself a goal, complete it, then move on to the next one. This also aids your ability to problem solve. Thinking objectively however is increasingly difficult as we have MANY ways to procrastinate and procrastinating slows or blocks this ability as we are unable to fulfil and create new goals. So simply intelligence is the ability to retain (learn, remember) information and extract (Say what you have learnt, call upon it) it, then use it effectively.

For those who can recall, it was a moment we'll never forget.

Tragedy has the power to disrupt and destroy but it also has the power to unify and empower. On September 11, 2001, people all over the U.S. and across the globe chose the latter. People extended their hands to others in need and offered courtesies we often forgo in the rush of our everyday lives. Perhaps it was the realization that there was something more important than the trivial and petty quarrels we consume ourselves with that changed all of us into better versions of ourselves.

Everyone remembers where they were and what they did on this day that changed the personality of a nation. In my own way of remembering, I wanted to set up a place where we can share our memories and preserve them so that we will never forget.

Below are some example accounts. Continue the thread and send to your family and friends. Reply with: your name / city and state / ONE sentence about where you were when you experienced or heard about the attacks / ONE sentence about what the events of 9/11 taught you…

Name: Whitney G. (Baltimore, MD)

I was: At home; I had just dropped my son off from school and heard it on the radio.

This day taught me: How much I love my family and how much I couldn’t stand to be without them.

Name: Collins T. (Camp Springs, MD)

I was: At the barbershop getting a hair cut

This day taught me: Despite our differences we are all one nation.

Name: Marcus T. (Washington, DC)

I was: At school and our teachers wouldn’t talk to us about it; I didn’t know anything until my mom picked me up.

This day taught me: Tomorrow is never promised.

Name: Chelsea R. (Washington, DC)

I was: Just getting to work and I remember feeling so lazy that morning.

This day taught me: to hold on to the things that matter I was so scared and to all of the families of those who passed, God Bless.

Name: Breanna Windsor. (Milford, CT)

I was: In school; my teacher turned on the news and the whole class watched in shock.

This day taught me: Rest in paradise to all the brave firefighters who risked their lives to save others.

I wonder what everyone is going to do tomorrow. I think some people are going to make the journey to Ground zero to take part in the opening or the memorial. I think some people are going to watch the memorial on television and pay their respects to all those lost.

I think there will be some people will need to think about the day for a moment then they will move on without another though, mostly becaus they don’t want to think about it or the day did not affect them as much as other people. Then I think there will be those people who will not even know that the day had anything special going on. I just wonder what people will end up doing.

As for me, I spent some time writing a poem about a little rabbit who experienced the destruction of the two towers. I intend to spend my day making sure as many people as possible can go visit my poem and comment about how that poem made them feel. Please take a moment to visit and read A “9 11 Rabbit“

You may think what you remember is 100% accurate you are prepared to completely rely on your recalled information in an argument or presentation, but before you seriously hurt anybody consider this: scientists have long ago established that in fact memory is highly fallible, and most of the time the information we recall is inaccurate.

Here you are having a pleasant conversation with your friend, then something happens, you disagree, your friend recalls one thing, and you are 100% sure the thing to be quite the opposite. Of course neither of you is prepared to give in, you are the fortunate one to behold the truth, and you will not stop until you prove your point. You are being impolite and obnoxious. Even if you are right, why wouldn’t you let your friend get away and save his/her face? Tell them you are not sure about the facts, and you have to look it up. A little white lie can go a long way, lying is the oil that greases our interactions with others and lets us maintain friendly social relationships.

We are overly optimistic about the accuracy of our memories, which often makes us look like fools. Our memory is highly fallible. Do we learn? Memory is an interpretation, the raw sensory data is largely discarded, the transformation from raw data to interpretation occurs automatically and outside volition. We do not see what we see; we see what we think we see our consciousness is presented with an interpretation, not the raw data. Numerous studies have shown that memory changes over time.

As we recall an event over and over, we drop details from earlier versions and add new details to later versions. All things being equal, accuracy declines with each new recall. Memory is a reconstruction, not a record. When we recall something we invoke the most applicable script and may unconsciously fill in missing information in order to complete the reconstruction.

Will you put your money where your mouth/memory is?

Leadership is not just one kind, as it is divided into two. One is religious, the other is not. Read the article and see the difference.

Almost every breathing person in this seemingly confusing world, will most likely agree, that a good leader is usually admired of by many. Leadership as we already know simply means the capacity or ability to lead. If a leader can control the untoward actions of the members in his group, in spite of the chaotic situation, then that person can be tagged as a desirable leader.

Concerning spiritual leadership, similarity is certain; however, the differences involved are quite opposite to each other. In a natural kind of leadership, force is sometimes imposed. This method is necessary in order that a rule must be obeyed to the letter. On the other hand, spiritual leadership has given more lee-way in favor of the followers, their obedience is motivated more by love than of the consequences they may get or experience in the form of penalties.

In spiritual leadership, a leader must be spiritual. A person must be a Godly man, one who fears the Lord with all his heart. It is impossible for a man whose life is entangled with sin, to guide someone who wants to be free from it.

In the Bible, there is a verse found in Luke 6:39 (English Standard Version) and it says “He also told them a parable: “Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? “, this is a short verse, but the truth expressed in it is so clear. If anyone longs to become a spiritual leader, that person must first acquire spirituality. It has to be remembered that it is not easy, but it’s worth it.

Shanti Devi was born in 1926 11 December Delhi, India.

Shanti Devi was born in 1926 11 December Delhi, India, and the age of 3 years century began to talk about his previous life. Supposedly, it was then Lutla and lived 145 km from Delhi, Mathura city. According to her, she was born in 1902 She even ran away from home as a 6 years age to return to Mathura. The case attracted the attention of even Mahatma Gandhi – it was a 15-person commission of inquiry, whose report was published in 1936 Subsequently published in two reports, one of which denied the possibility of reincarnation, while others supported. Shanti Devi, later to have been repeated discussions, Swedish author and has written a book about it.

Who was it? Child’s whim? Adult attention quest? Game? But if this game is too serious triennial girl. She spoke of her husband, whose name was Nat Kedar, a son was born to them. Interestingly enough, that she used the Mathura dialect words and come up with interesting details of the birth surgically. And behold, after 6 years revealed that there is really Nat Kedar, whose wife Devi Lugdi died 9 years ago after giving birth at 10 December Lugdi was born in 1902 18 January Čapturbhudžų family. 10 years age married a local clothing merchant Pandit Kedarnath Čaube which it was the second wife (the first was dead). Their first child was born after Caesarean section. Gave birth in a hospital for the second time in Agra in 1925 25 September, was also carried out a Caesarean section, but after 9 March Lugdi died. And after 10 months. and 7 days Babu Rang’ui to Delhi in the small village Čiravala Mohula daughter was born, called Shanti Devi.

Aware of the history of Shanti Devi, came to NATO relative Kedar, and then himself. The girl knew and the one and other. And they have it, of course, he saw for the first time. Someone came into my head the idea to take a child to Mathura. Most certainly consisted commission, arrived in 1935 15 November Devi woke station consents to another man from another living family member. Everything has progressed to the fact that Devi said the money, which she then Kedar Nato’s wife, hid the house, a secluded corner. Find the money. The girl was of their own. Kedar Nat, how confused, admitted that he really found the money after the death of his wife and hid them in another location. This language, made a great impression on the panel of not less than the fact that Devi spoke the local dialect.

Shanti Devi remained unmarried, she told her story again in six decades. At the end, in 1986 I was interviewed and Stevenson K.S. Rawat. (By the way, Santa is wearing “in Sanskrit means” Princess of Peace “).

Similar cases are not rare. Rarity, should be given a positive scientific attitudes.

Description of Memorial Day and why we memoralize the soldiers that died fighting for our rights.

There may be many things in America we do not agree with but it would be plain ignorance to ignore that our freedom and rights come at the injustice of our fallen soldiers. Today, many people mourn the loss of loved ones, and commemorate the bravery of the US soldiers. They had to sustain bravery in order to fight for the freedom and many rights we have as citizens of America.

Today, we commemorate not only the bravery, courage, and sheer determination of our soldiers and veterans that fought for our country, but we remember those whom we have lost in the plight.

So don’t spend this memorial day wondering how to get the perfect coloring on those steaks, or how many people will be eating potato salad. Spend the day reflecting on how many soldiers lost their lives in the fight for our freedom. Reflect on the freedoms we have and spend the day being thankful for them.

Hey, without those rights and freedom, I couldn’t write this article.

Thanks for reading!
