Christmas is a time associated with eating and socialising with family and friends. If you cannot be bothered or do not have the time to prepare a turkey dinner for you and your family you may consider eating your dinner at a local restaurant. But what restaurants are actually open on Christmas Day? Many small restaurants are closed on Christmas Day. But a small handful of restaurants stay open on Christmas Day. Many of these offer a special Christmas Dinner, which is usually over priced. But they have to find some way to pay their staff the extra wages for working a Bank Holiday.

You can find out what restaurants are open on Christmas Day by physically visiting a restaurant to see if its doors are open. You can also look up their telephone number and call them to see if they are open. Your local newspaper would also have displayed restaurant opening times and days of closure. But to save you any hassle I have found a list of restaurants which are open on Christmas Day. However local restaurants may vary, but several branches of the restaurants below will stay open on Christmas.

Ihop, Dennys, Golden Corral, TGI Fridays, Chilis and various Chinese restaurants. I also know various hotels are open but are charging two or three times the normal price for Christmas dinner.

Furr’s is a spot where many families who choose to dine out eat on Christmas Day. They can serve you the traditional Christmas dinner – you can pick ham or turkey – and the traditional sides. Furr’s is a highly recommended restaurant to eat at on Christmas day. It is cafeteria style, where you go through the line and pick and choose what you would like to eat. Waffle House

Who says you can’t have waffles and sausage for Christmas dinner? Or, why don’t you treat yourself to a nice breakfast at Waffle House. Waffle House is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – it never closes. They would be thrilled to serve you on Christmas. Did you know if you stacked all of the sausage patties they serve in one day together, it would reach the top of the empire state building? (Just a little fact from the website.) Luby’s

Many Luby’s restaurants are open on Christmas Day as well. (I would call first.) They provide a cafeteria or buffet type dinner. You could enjoy turkey, as well as dressing, mashed potatoes and much more. Luby’s is an excellent restaurant to eat out at.

IHOP

Another restaurant to choose from is IHOP. Some IHOP restaurants are open on Christmas Day – call first to be safe. Did you know they serve more than 700 million pancakes per year? You can add to that number or order something else such as steak, ribs, etc.

Denny’s

Yet another breakfast type restaurant open on Christmas day is Denny’s.  The store hours vary, call your local Denny’s to learn what time they are open.  Denny’s would love to have your business on Christmas Day.

Chinese Restaurants

Many Chinese restaurants are open on Christmas Day.  I would call around and see which ones are open.  Hey, it’s something different, delicious and you don’t have to cook!

Hotel Restaurants

Many hotel restaurants are open on Christmas Day.  Call around and see which ones in your area might be open.  They will usually provide a top-notch Christmas dinner or buffet.  It’s a great idea to go there for your Christmas dinner.

Local Mom ‘n Pop Restaurants

There are many locally owned restaurants that serve a nice traditional Christmas dinner. To find one in your area, just google your city”s name and “restaurants open on Christmas Day”.  Or, you might check your local newspaper, as they often provide the information.  You might also ask on local message boards such as /www.city-data.com or www.topix.com.
