The ages 60 and up would be the most ideal staging or observation posts for looking at life as man emerges from birth to death. It is the period when one gets a solid view of how his life has unfolded and has been unfolding before it ends.

At 60, it is almost natural for one to ask: How meaningful has life been? Hopefully, he may still influence his remaining years and make them truly more meaningful. But another way he can find meaning is to influence the lives of the younger people who are themselves journeying to find meaning for their own. By exercising this influence, he can recreate his own life’s meaning as he provides the sounding board for all the obstacles and hurdles and perils strewn along the way. It is, thus in a manner of speaking, clearing the way for the young.

One of the luxuries of this exchange between the “been there” and those “on the road” is the privilege of identifying life’s meaning at the outset instead of at the end. Although life is different from person to person, it is also atypical, which means it has a pattern that is common to all.

For instance, it begins at birth and ends at death. This sequence typifies the scope of life. But while this birthing and dying are atypical, what is in between is what makes everybody a unique individual. St. Augustine describes this as God’s gift of life. One is given the choice of the meaning he wants to put into it.

Life is also, upon birth, evolutionary: proceeding, as in growing and learning; achieving fullness, as in fullness in physiology and productivity, and receding, as in going back to where it came from. This complete cycle of procession, fullness and recession is the same for all, save for the details that characterize each individual.

The exercise of choosing what to put into life is truly a privilege accorded the growing newborn. It can be said that everybody would want a truly meaningful and enjoyable life, and by virtue of the experiences shared by the “been there,” this dream life has a greater chance of being fulfilled if only the life traveler on the road would listen to the life lessons from those ahead.

Some of these life lessons can be startling but exceedingly persuasive:

1. Only 3 out of 20 life travelers (give or take a few percentage points for national differences) have enough money at retirement time to enable them to live with dignity. The rest are on utter dependency on others.

2. College education is a necessary instrument for making life truly productive at the middle range, but only a handful finish college due to financial incapacity.

3. Part of man’s fullness is raising a family, simultaneous with his achieving full productivity at work. Such a dependence of family upon his personal output puts the family at risk of economic dislocation by the breadwinner’s sudden death. Not too many have provided for this eventuality.

4. Man has invented business as an instrument of productivity and life sustenance, but he does not put up enough safeguards to make his business continuous and continuously life-sustaining. When he goes, his business goes.

These lessons are actually products of precedents:

5. Man’s psychology favors instant gratification and ignores future enjoyment, consequently making preparations for the future extremely difficult.

6. He has a mistaken view of his physiology. He feels his physical strength will last forever while he is young, until he feels some concentrated pains across his chest.

7. He refuses to deal with his mortality and vulnerability until it is too late.

Because of these, he ends up working to death literally, even if he is already too old to work and now conscious of the lessons. If he stops working, he has no money to afford him the decency of a dignified existence in old age and finds himself living a life of dependency. Yet, it is at this time that he needs, and terribly wants, dignity to adorn his receding years.

The lessons provided are of course more atypical of the 17 rather than the 3 out of the 20. The generic causes are procrastination, lack of awareness, lack of discipline and lack of planning. Suffice it to say that the generic solutions are awareness, recognition, action and discipline towards honest-to-goodness financial planning.

Reaching the golden years, one can only look back at, but may not change, the past. The past can however be offered as warning posts for travelers against potential potholes. Consequently, the young journeymen need wait for life post 60 to ask “how meaningful has life been?” for he can create the meaning that he wants right where he is.

First of all, we will talk about the wage and some factors affecting it. There are many factors affecting the fluctuation of wage around the country. The most natural factor is the demand and supply of labor. The fluctuation of labor demand and supply will definitely affect the wage around the country. When the labor demand from the company is much higher than the supply, the wage rate will increase. This condition is very beneficial for the workers. In this case, workers have higher bargaining position and power to get higher wage they want. When the labor supply is much higher than the demand, the wage rate will decrease. This condition is very favorable for the companies, because the companies will have higher bargaining power to keep the wage low. There is also one rare condition, where the labor demand equals to labor supply, the wage rate will be favorable for both companies and workers.
The second factor affecting the wage is government policies. Government also plays a very important role in determining the wage across the country. They will set up the minimum wage for all workers in the country. This determination of the minimum wage is affected by many factors, such as cost of living, productivity level, and occupation level.
1. Cost of Living: Ideally, government will set up higher minimum wage for cities with higher living cost. It will help workers to keep surviving in cities with higher living cost
2. Productivity level: The government will look at the productivity level in each region and try to set up the minimum wage based on the productivity level from those regions. The higher productivity level, the higher minimum wage will be. It will ensure that all workers with higher productivity will get the most from their effort. Another reason why this is also considered is to encourage the other cities with lower productivity level to keep going and increase their productivity level. Hopefully, for the long run the average productivity level in the country will also increase.
3. Occupation level: Government also tries to look at the occupation level in the work field. They will try to set up the minimum wage based on the occupation itself. It means that every occupation will have different minimum wage with the other occupation.
The third factor, and the most important factor in determining the wage is Trade Union. This trade union is a representative of the workers across the country. The objectives are to set up the good wages for it’s member, get involved in the policy making either in company level or regional level, help many workers to get their appropriate working environment and salary. This Trade Union can be used both by workers and companies to negotiate the wage. It will be very beneficial for the workers and companies because they can discuss it in the right way, such as collective bargaining instead of having some strikes from the workers or blacklist from the company. By doing it through Trade Union, it will keep the relationship between the company and the workers.

Here you can find also more information about Hvem kan få efterløn (Who can get early retirement benefit in Danish) and Efterlønsordning kan jeg fravælge den (if you can deselect the early retirement scheme in Danish).

Active adult communities can be an attractive living situation for many people as they near 55 years of age or older because of the fewer responsibilities with taking care of a yard, the up-keep and maintenance on a single family home or caring for a swimming pool for example.

Many active adult communities also provide assistance with daily medication monitoring, housekeeping services, personal care and meal service. There are also daily activities that often take place at these communities as well as planned outings among the residents. Some of these might include, bingo night, music lessons, art lessons, book clubs, fitness groups, pot luck dinners and gatherings and bus trips to the mall and casinos.

Another benefit, is the fact that everyone living in the community is around the same age group and this makes its much more convenient to make friends and socialize with people who are now retired, enjoying grandchildren and have similar interests. Many active adult communities today are being designed like first class resorts with a focus on social and cultural life.

Residents can enjoy dancing, swimming, playing tennis, a round of golf, or a Pilate’s class at a state-of-the-art fitness center. Most communities have several swimming pools, game rooms and movie theatres. Some of the social events offered can include movie night, holiday gatherings, a game of bridge and game night.

Today some of the communities are focusing on continuing education by offering residents the opportunity to take classes on computers, history and genealogy. Local Universities and colleges have even teamed up with active adult communities to design a classes that would interest folks in this age bracket.

Active adult communities can include apartments, condominiums, single family homes or custom builds. The floor plans are usually open and airy and feature energy efficient living. Residents can enjoy the privacy they are able to maintain and at the same time have opportunity to socialize whenever they wish.

The price to live at an active adult community generally includes all of the expenses associated with water, trash pick-up, phone service and electricity. Another attractive incentive for many is the security the communities provide as many offer around-the-clock trained personnel and many feature gated entrances.

Ask for a full tour of the property when you find a community you think you would enjoy living at. Be sure to plan on spending a few hours at the community to observe how the residents interact with one another and how involved the staff are. Be sure you to talk with the staff members and ask many questions. This way you should be able to get a good idea for how happy or unhappy the residents are who live there. Tour the grounds to see how well maintained the courtyards, swimming pool area and meeting rooms are. Don’t forget to introduce yourself and speak with other residents when touring the property.

People may think that they are getting older and feel that they are no longer useful in the society. So it is advised that the retired people should think positively and join some society activity to avoid the feelings of uselessness. A community service is one of a better place for the retirees to show their usefulness.

This is a better choice for the retirees to join the community service voluntary. Community service is not all about the charitable and helping the needed society. It is about the health and well-being of the retiree because they are express their kindness and helpful to those people. The retirees may feel like a kind of reward after they perform the community services. They will feel happy because they are needed in the society to help others.

Community service projects always need a lot of people who have sufficient time to help them out. For the retirees who have a lot of time at home, this is a good chance for them to spend their time to help others. Besides that, the retirees may participate in some physical activity during the community services. This will be a good exercise and help the retirees to live healthy.

Community services can provide the social opportunity for the people with different ages, culture and backgrounds.
Don't save for retirement. You will defer enjoyment of your income, and you will being paying steeply higher taxes in the future. It used to be that saving for retirement made sense because in retirement your tax rate would be lower. Governments around the world, including the U.S. government have amassed such huge public debt, that taxes will rise in the future, and steeply. Enjoy your money now before the government takes its huge bite.

Saving for retirement used to make sense. You would defer taxes on current income and pay the taxes later in retirement when your income was lower and you were in a lower tax bracket. You would make a sacrifice today in giving up current consumption when you are relatively young and can enjoy what you buy, and push off that gratification into your retirement when you would have more of that deferred income. That money would take care of you in old age or allow you freedom to do the things you did not do when you were younger. All of this made sense economically, the dollar you earned today if taxed today would result in $.50 of income, but in retirement that same dollar might result in $.70 or $.75 of income. Often as well you would get the benefit of tax-free compounding of the earnings on that dollar. It was win-win.

As governments around the world, including the U.S. government, has amassed mountains of debt, it is inescapable that governments will have to levy higher taxes in the future to pay off those debts. Furthermore, the promises that governments have made to segments of society — social security promises, medicare promises, union pension and health benefits promises — amount to a few to several times the current public debt. The governments have a dug a financial hole so deep that even if government policies could revive economic growth, governments will still have to tax the citizens much more in the future to pay for the debt and the future promises. Are the governments tackling this problem today? Not at all. The government workforce is not declining, there have been no changes to their defined benefit pension schemes, populations of all industrialized countries are aging, and economic growth has been anemic. Further the policies of the current governments — more regulations, higher taxes today, dodging hard decisions on deficit reduction, and kicking the can down the road, presages only higher taxes in the future. If you want to see the future, look at Greece. It is bankrupt and needs regular bailouts from Europe, and its public employees take to the streets when their benefits — that the government does not have money to pay for — are cut. Ireland and Portugal are already there, and Spain and Italy are next. And the mighty U.S., already have public debt at 90% of GDP not counting the $60 trillion in social security and medicare promises, and not counting all state and local debt. At 100% of GDP, the interest on the debt begins to slow down economic growth, creating a double whammy against the ability to grow out the debt. So get ready for higher taxes.

In addition, there is a risk to deferring your enjoyment of your income. You could become ill, get a terminal disease, get hit by a truck, or be in some freak accident that would prevent you from enjoying your savings in retirement if the government does not tax it heavily. Also, given the huge government debts, there is a great risk of inflation because the government will have to print money to pay for the deficits and debts. If that occurs, the price of all goods and services will begin to rise, and it is unlikely your retirement savings will grow to keep pace with inflation. Thus, the nice vacation you deferred until retirement could then be out of reach financially because of inflation; same with many of the goods you wanted to buy and enjoy – that new set of golf clubs, the new car, etc.

In conclusion, don’t save for retirement; enjoy the fruits of your labor today!

In this day and age, retirement is rarely permanent and there are a number of reasons why people go back to work, at least part time and perhaps even online after they thought they were done.

When people reach a certain age, they are going to retire from work. Those nice senior years where you don’t have to worry about the grind of a job, where you just can kick back and relax, where you no longer have to drag yourself out of bed and drag yourself into the insanity that often is early morning traffic. You can kick back, relax, and just be amused about those who still have to go through the daily grind when you are retired.

Or so goes the theory. In many instances, retirement is not all that it is thought to be. There are a number of times where after about six months or a year, people find themselves wanting to find a job. Whether it be a traditional job or perhaps some casual work online, they find that all of this free time that comes with retirement is not the best in the world.

Bored Out of Your Mind

Free time is something that is cherished more when we don’t know much about it. There can be too much of a good thing and having some free time is a very good time. Once retirement occurs, there is going to be more free time than the average person knows what to do with. They feel actually overjoyed in the beginning but it begins to get taxing and not to mention boring. Just because you’re retired does not mean you’re dying. You feel the need to do something productive with your life. The Internet thankfully has allowed that, as people can make a decent amount of money by writing. Of course it is not the money that matters for retired people but rather the sense that they are doing something productive and just not wasting day after day of life. Boredom can be an awful thing and sometimes people get a part time job of sorts, whether it’s the traditional manner or the many places online where they can earn money.

Poor Management of Money

Saving up some money can allow you to maintain a moderately comfortable lifestyle for years. Granted it might not have many luxuries, but you won’t starve and be miserable. That has to count for something. However, people feel that any retirement benefits might not be all they are cracked up to be and if they did not save money when they were working, then they will find themselves in a rather deep hole. Retirement benefits only go so far and it’s a hard adjustment when you don’t get a steady paycheck. In addition to the rising prices because of the economy, it becomes a necessity to acquire some kind of part time employment. Seniors if they are physically able, are deciding to go back to work, it is often a matter of pride to an extent and being stubborn to another extent.

The Unexpected Happens

This reason tends to tie into the fact that your money is not managed all that well but not necessarily always. Many different costly things going wrong at the same time can be a real painful experience and it will obliterate your savings. Thus you might find the need to find a part time job once again out of necessity. The phrase “hope for the best and expect the worst” is never more appropriate. It does seem like there is no iron clad guarantee that you would be completely free.

Hopefully retirement will be grand but many times, retirement can just be merely just a very long hiatus from the work force. The worst could happen, money cannot be managed as well as you would like, or just boredom sets in.

No matter your circumstance in life, you have a purpose in this world. You not a mistake. Whether born out of wedlock, orphaned as a child or parents divorced, you still a full human being on this earth to fulfil a mission!

What can be the worst thing to happen to anyone, born out of wedlock, one parent or both dying whilst you still young and dependent on them or parents divorcing. I am sure you can come up more scenarios, but whatever situation you find yourself in, the fact remains you are alive and have a mission to accomplish here on earth! The world is not fair to anyone but who really decides what’s fair and what’s not. If you find yourself on the wrong side of anything you tend to blame the world and all around it.

No one is here on earth by mistake, we all here because we all have a part to play on this world stage. No one will make you the main Actor except yourself. Position yourself in such a way that you will be useful to the world. The world will go on without you but it will surely be better with you as part of it.

People come from different backgrounds and it’s up to you to show the world that no matter how you came into this world, the only difference with the others will be who you will have around you and what they can do for you. As human beings we are all born the same, yes, we might not be of the same health levels but we all have the same potential.

In life anything can work to your advantage or disadvantage depending on how you treat the situation.

Perfect Reason for Everything

Pain, death, illness etc can all rack one’s life but us as human being will never understand how the world works. Hardship in one’s life can make someone strong and other weak. All you need to do is asking yourself why it happened or it is happening to you. Death and illness is known to bring families/people closer. There is always a perfect reason why you are who you are. If you stop fighting the situation and work with it, you will achieve a lot.

Good education, wealth, good family etc, on the face value are all essential for a successful life but it can also be counter productive if the recipients of such benefits are not taught the importance of safe guarding the wealth and even growing it. To some being born in a ‘stable’, wealthy family can breed laziness and recklessness.

Reason and Purpose

Once you understand the reasons for certain aspects of your life, you also need to find your purpose in life and pursue it. Planning in life is important but most important is to take action!!! Purpose + Reason + Action = Intended result. Any situation you find yourself in is as result of decisions you have made and remember not making a decision is making a decision! Not doing anything will result in something happening, the unfortunate thing is, you will not have control of the outcome of your inaction!

Retirement

Governments world over set retirement ages for its workers and there are all sorts of retirement schemes run by different companies, but my question is, do you have to retire when someone tells you too or you retire when you want? Lets say the national retirement age in your country is 65 years and by the time you reach this age you don’t have any Investments and you don’t own the house you live in, can you afford to retire? Surely not! But on the other side if by the age of 45 years you have all the Investments you need and property. You can afford to tour the world and still your bank balance will continue to grow, surely you can retire at 45 years from active working life.

So until you accomplish your mission in life, you can not retire no matter what the national laws say. What you will not be able to do is work formally but you will still work out of necessity.

Let us all remember we here by design and not by default!!!
