With the economy what it is higher flights, road trips in the family more and more popular. For many of us baby boomers and Generation X with young families, bringing a car ride back happy thoughts and funny when we were kids. But for every parent who has ever traveled with small children and listened to the question “When is that?” Adventure car can be a double-edged sword.

Marco by car with young children is always unpredictable. But planning ahead, you can easily smooth the monotony of their children and to reduce some of the irritation by itself along the road. To begin, we must accept the fact that spending more than sixty minutes in the car together is a good time for anyone, let alone a young person. For long car trips, children need to have fun and come back.

But before thinking about how to keep their operation while driving, often make a stop along the way, every 2-4 hours at least. rest areas and parks are great because they can go out and be active in minutes. Let them go a bit ‘of that pent-up energy and you have a more peaceful journey.

Games for the car can be anything. My daughter loves counting Mini Coopers. If you’re in an area where no trucks or sports cars will work fine. There are more structured play that works for your car, but watch out for games that require reading in the moving car that can get an upset stomach.

Seeing that you can identify the maximum number of plates for the state or convertible or two-door car can keep you busy for a young man for an hour or more. I’m sure the idea – Games work.

My friend Dave has six children, the love of God (and help) him. He and his wife are amazing how they manage the trip home and the car is no exception. Require good, but bring along a sufficient cache of small rewards, especially toys, periodically distribute rewards of obedience and two correct answers in the games. Is a success.

The music is fine, but for younger people to sing in chorus is better. Anything to keep them active and engaged brought boredom. If no objection at the time of onset of their children, car DVD players may be the best babysitter. Although television is not the ideal solution if you come alone with their children, could be your savior.

Storytelling can only work if their children fall prey to it. If you can show with a stupid story, children can jump and have fun. Invent a story where each group add the following line can be a blast and everyone laughed.

It is extremely important, especially for road trips no longer have enough space for everyone. eventually lead to overcrowding, a disgrace to any or all of their young passengers. If you can not put all your luggage in the trunk or rear of the vehicle, be sure to fix the roof. If you can not borrow or rent a larger vehicle can bring a useful resource.

Most parents are lucky that children are more likely to sleep for at least part of the race. Take pillows, blankets and favorite stuffed animals – to help them along. Food and drinks for everyone probably goes without saying. A first aid package containing aspirin also is wise. Bring any extra in case you are delayed or diverted en route.

Another very important thing to keep in mind, even though we all like to have the least amount of time to reach our desired destination when we take a road trip is more enjoyable and safer to take things in an easier when traveling with our children. And do not forget, as difficult as the car ride when our youth can be impatient or unhappy, enjoy not only the final destination, but to do so.

At the west fork of Little River in North Carolina sits the historical Pisgah Community Covered Bridge. A part of our history that originated 99 years ago.

Covered bridges have been around since the early 1800s. These old bridges affirm the old days of hard labor that needed an easier connection to and from their farms, and they also aided in protection from the weather during rain and snow storms. These sort of bridges are a part of the American history that is disappearing year after year. There is roughly 750 – 800 of these bridges that are still in existence today in the U.S. That’s a big difference compared to the 10,000 that was originally constructed.

A covered bridge is a nice place to visit, and just take a rest. It’s nice to be able to take in the vintage views of American history. It permits you to put images in your brain, of what it might have been like to reside back in those days. Their method, and uniqueness that was conceived to defend their timber trusses from the climate, is what has kept them a part of our history. A part of history that we can treasure as long as there are associations and funding to assure that these bridges don’t disappear totally.

The Pisgah Community Covered Bridge is just one of only two enclosed bridges that are still left standing in North Carolina today. This bridge was constructed for $40.00 by J.J. Welch, back in 1911. The history of this bridge is what makes it so exclusive, for it disappeared from it’s position in August of 2003, owed to a flood.

It’s chronicled attractiveness was dispersed through the stream banks on that tragic day. People rushed to the location, in hopes to find just one small piece of history to save. 90% of the pieces to the bridge were found, thanks to the returning of what was once going to be used as souvenirs. The covered bridge was rebuilt in 2004 for a cost of $88,000, which enclosed the trails, picnic locality, parking locality, and of course all the constructed gardens, as well. It initially had a shingle top covering, but in the 1930s, it was restored with a tin roof. When the bridge was rebuilt in 2004, a new shingle top covering was established, to give the bridge it’s initial appearance.

Over 20 years before, this bridge was the culprit of vandalism. Since it’s so effortlessly accessible, numerous adolescents, and people that evidently had more on their minds than to just take in the bridges beauty, decided to re-decorate it by plastering it with painted names, and drawings. Luckily, landowners, constructed a barrier to the location, which has drastically decreased redundant tourists that liked to use this bridge as a past-time for their weekend boredom.

This specific covered bridge is established in Randolph County, in North Carolina, and it’s the only covered bridge in this county that is still standing today. It spans 54 feet from one end to the other. This makes for a very short stroll for those that desire to take a saunter through history.

This bridge has a history in the making. It was constructed to help aid the way of getting supplies from one edge of the stream to the other. It was initially formed with the use of Virgin Pine trees that were sown back in the 1600s. These pine trees were used for the older constructed buildings. They were then recycled to slash the timber for this attractive bridge. With all the hard work of the volunteers, and associations that assisted with the re-building of this bridge, it decisively is a covered bridge hovering in time.

A recent visit to the Pisgah Community Bridge in March of 2010, shows signs of vandalism once again. People that take it upon themselves to think that their name painted on the side of a historic building is attractive, really need to stop and reconsider what they’re actually doing. They need to stop and take into consideration that this bridge is a part of our history. They also need to stop and think about just how unintelligent they really are.

How much control do we have over life?

Life comes in cycles; birth (the beginning), life (the middle), and death (the end).

The Beginning: Being born has absolutely nothing to do with you personally. You didn’t ask for it or demand it; you just got it. You had no choice into which family you were born or into what circumstances you were placed. This is the beginning of your life map. You didn’t get to decide the color of your eyes, your hair or your skin. You know nothing of bank balances, family values/morals or the country you live in. You take what you get and thus begins your journey. As a small child you begin to grow and your own individual personality begins to develop, but you are still pretty much at the mercy of your birth circumstances.

The End: Ah, death; just another fact of life. Generally speaking we don’t have a lot of input into when and how we die. Oh, sure, along the way we can make some life choices like good eating habits, good exercise habits, etc., that may help to put off death for awhile. But, for the most part, fate ultimately determines death. The old adage “His number was up” comes into play frequently. Although there are many types of death (accidental, preplanned, assisted, old age and so on); they all ultimately have the same end result. You are dead, period.

The Middle: the longest journey…

Despite our education and knowledge, it doesn’t mean that we will automatically make all the right life choices. Most people do not begin this portion of their journey by deciding to make a mess of it. None of us want to be losers in love or in life. Rarely do we invite poverty to come live with us. But so many of us end up not getting to the destination we originally had in mind. How then, do we, the most educated and technologically advanced generation, often end up making such a mess out of the greatest gift of all, life?

By receiving the gift of life, despite our early circumstances, it is truly up to us as adults to actively participate in the scripting of our life journey. Think of this journey as a trip. A road trip, if you will, ripe with roadblocks, sorrows, heartache and hardships and so on. Those things can and do happen in life; it is how you deal with them that will ultimately determine the next phase of your journey.

Have you made some bad life choices? Or, maybe you live a bit to close to the self pity or self righteous part of town? Perhaps you are frightened by the overwhelming responsibility of being solely accountable for your life choices? Well, unpack that nasty old baggage, face it, accept responsibility for it, and then bury it.

Write your life journey script thus far to receive an extremely revealing outline of where you are right now, and how you got there. Be brutally honest. You can do this in point form, written form; what ever form you like. Use the mistakes you have made to forge a new life path. Accept responsibility for your participation in any event that didn’t turn out well for you. Touch on any or all of the following words, emotions and their meanings as they pertain to you personally, in any area or relationship both past and present:

Laziness/ Frustration / Fear/ Empty promises / Anger / Jealousy / Self Pity / Deceitful / Vanity/

Self Righteousness/ Sin/ Morals/and so on

Whether you are 25, 45 or 65 years old, it is never too late to re-chart your journey. But, unless you identify what you, yes YOU, did wrong in the first place, it will be very difficult to forge a new trail. If you are happy at Heartbreak Hotel, Poverty Prison, or wherever else you are currently residing, then don’t bother wasting your time evaluating your life thus far. I wish you all the best with the rest of your journey.

When you have a true friend, you have everything.

This article is dedicated to the great importance of true friendship. While it takes much time and often many years to truly know you have a true, true friend, the magic that occurs when you have one is incredible. This article is about some of my fond thoughts regarding a lady I admire greatly and whom I know I am lucky to call my friend.

I have a girl friend that I have been friends with for about eight years. She and I laugh about this because for the past few years we have been saying we have been friends eight years. Truth is I cannot remember the exact number of years, but through these years she and I have gotten to the point where I truly feel like we can say anything to each other and we will always be there for the other. She is someone who I truly believe only has my best interests in mind and vice versa.

Throughout the years she and I have opened up about the other people in our lives that have hurt us, were unkind to us, etc. We have shared things with each other that no other person knows about us. We have even shared some of the most spiritually amazing experiences I have had in my life.

For example, on a road trip back from Las Vegas were talking and I looked just outside her window and two white doves were flying beside the car. I was completely amazed. I had driven to Las Vegas, from California, more times than I can remember and never once had I seen any doves flying through the desert much less right next to my car! I felt like it was a sign from above, two angels sent to reflect the two angels sitting in the car. It was beautiful, moving and just one of the many experiences I will always hold closest to my heart.

Though much in my life has taught me to be more cautious with people than maybe most people are, everyday she is in my life, I know deeper in my heart that I am beyond blessed to be able to call her my friend. While you never know what life brings and if and when people will change, when you continue to follow your heart, you do end up with the very best things in life, including friends.

I wish you all the very best things in life always.
