The rain carried with it some kind of lazy freshness. The minaret of the mosque to my right bathed in the dim day. The wet plants in my neighbor’s yard across the road and the leaves of date palms lazily swayed. I went back to bed and listened to the intermittent peals of thunder which punctuated the monotonous music of water pounding on the rooftop. At times, I heard the sounds of tires splashing water, as these rolled for some while on the stream of water on the road.
