We all live and abide by rules in order to keep peace, but when and how were these rules truly formed?

By Gianni Galioto

‘What makes an issue ethical?’ Most young readers would not be able to answer this question. But before answering this question, a better question is ‘what is ethical?’ Ethics is a set of unwritten rules of moral behaviour and values within communities. This means that these set of ‘rules’ determine whether you are doing the right thing or the wrong thing. An ethical issue is an issue where there is conflict on what a certain person or organization is doing. The actions of the person or organization are evaluated as either right (ethical) or wrong (unethical). There are multiple approaches to avoid all conflict so that no issue arises. A main consideration is Utilitarianism in which you consider the usefulness of a decision before making it so that it pleases most others. In other words, think before you act. When wanting to seek revenge on someone, it is best to think before you act before something worse happens. An ethical approach would be to forgive the person.

Subjectivism is also a key factor in avoiding conflict, but can also be brought out incorrectly depending on the person’s thoughts. Subjectivism is deciding by your own self-esteem and for yourself, through your own experiences, whether your actions are right or wrong. Deciding for yourself can sometimes be an incorrect decision because some people are unable to tell right from wrong due to their own experiences in life. An example of correct usage of subjectivism would be a person seeing a fight and stopping it rather than cheering it on with other bystanders. Situational ethics is making a decision in terms of the situation. With this approach, the actions seem unethical but the situation that they are placed in makes it ethical. For example, Breaking a window, to escape a fire or assaulting a stranger, in self defence. Without the specified situations, the actions are deemed unethical. A problem with relativism is that it asserts each person has the right to choose what is right or wrong that they can’t adopt themselves.

Relativism is a person’s ‘truth’ which is actually a belief. An example of relativism is hitting a person back because you believe it is the right thing to do. The opposite of relativism is Natural Law in which we believe that every person has an innate behaviour and are born a raised with a correct understanding of human morals. The Catholic Church believes that the Natural Law was adopted from the 10 commandments and without the Commandments, there would be no innate behaviour of ethics because there would be no guide for the first few people to live. The Catholic Church also believes that the ‘innate’ understanding of ethics is God’s creation. In my opinion, I believe that natural law is correct and that we are all born with some understanding of ethical and unethical situations but sometimes it can be personal experiences that make up your mind.

In a pluralist society, it would be complex to make ethical decisions because the society is diverse and what seems normal to some could be very different to others. A pluralistic society is a society which the community are able to legally choose their own ethical views and what ethical beliefs, if any, they wish to hold. It is similar to relativism in a sense that people are able to have their own ethical views but it is different in a sense that the society is allowed to have their own ethical views and few/no laws stopping them. The complexity of this would be that there would be little to no restriction to most people and it could potentially create chaos and possibly continue to the extinction of the human race. An example of this would be choosing to be homosexual rather than heterosexual; the human race would die out in one generation. In a religious point of view, every person has the choice of which religion they wish to believe in and the ethical views that come with it. It would be complex to make ethical decisions because there would be no correct right or wrong, only an opinion of every single person in the society. Although it seems like freedom, the world needs boundaries to survive. To some people murder would be seem as unethical but to others it could possibly be seen as ethical. Seeing murder as ethical is wrong in our society, but in a pluralistic society where everyone has their own choice, the people can choose to think that it is right. Within a Pluralistic society, human rights, responsibilities of individuals and groups of society would be different for nearly every person and wouldn’t even be considered with the same importance that it has today. If there was to be a Pluralist Society, the matter of life or death would be put into the hands of every human being.

The 10 Commandments started of as basic rules for relating to God and to others, but it has gained a greater importance throughout the years. Most of the rules within the 10 Commandments are used for human rights rules and approaches to ethical decision making. It is possible to say that the human race would have eventually arrived at these rules after some time, but with the influence of the 10 Commandments, it sped up the process. I do believe that we would have arrived to the rules eventually to create peace and harmony without the 10 Commandments (even though it would take longer). The 10 Commandments were first created to ‘obey’ God and to keep his creations safe. Most people believed in God and therefore followed the ‘rules’. But the people that didn’t believe in God, they still followed the ‘rules’ because they deemed it to be ethical. If they did not believe in God, why did they still follow ‘God’s rules’? It is because they already had an understanding of peace but had not perfected on how to bring it out, and still in our society today, we still don’t have a solution on how to create ‘world peace’. To create these rules, it would take time and experience throughout your life but it is fair enough to say that the 10 Commandments did help out in solving bits and pieces.

Five Golden Rules of the G-Spot.

1. Pee first. I’ll be explaining the anatomy of the
g-spot later, but a crucial rule of g-spot stimulation
is to pee first. This is mostly for psychological reasons:
When you’re very aroused, it’s very, very difficult
to pee, but stimulation of the g-spot sometimes
feels like needing to pee. If you know your bladder
is empty, you can relax.
2. Vibrators and toys are your friends. This is no
time for shyness or inhibition! Since most women
take longer and require more intense stimulation
in order to have orgasms from vaginal rather than
clitoral stimulation, it’s perfectly acceptable—in
fact, it’s encouraged!—to use accessories to generate
that high level of arousal. I recommend acrylic
or glass toys, since they provide firm penetration.

3. Take your time. The build-up required for orgasm stimulated by the g-spot is, for most women, longand slow and intense. Don’t worry about taking “too long”—the longer it takes, the bigger the orgasm.

4. Stop if it hurts. Learning about the g-spot and
what it can do for you is recreational. You can have
a perfectly satisfactory and happy sex life without
ever doing anything with it—and a lot of women
do. Your decision to learn more about this intense
new kind of stimulation is like a daily jogger deciding
to run her first mini-marathon. It takes something
you already know and love to a profound
new level—but it is a hobby, something you do for
fun and pleasure, not because you have to. G-spot
stimulation isn’t for everyone. If it hurts, stop.
5. If at first you don’t succeed… change your
definition of success. For most women, mastering
g-spot stimulation takes practice. If you make
orgasm your goal, chances are you’ll fall short of
that goal and that might feel demoralizing. Instead,
make the creation of intense and pleasurable new
experiences your goal. You’ll hit the mark every
time. Remember, it’s not a competition and you are
not being rated. The best way to improve your sex
life is to enjoy the sex you’re having.

Drivers must improve their knowledge of the road signs and rules on our roads.

When issues remain silent, it is not because they have been resolved or there are no more problems in the system to be solved. We expect the perpetrators of the act to consciously put-in an effort to stop or get the situation to improve with time. It is only natural for human beings to see improvement and change in their lives. Any human being that is not changing is not growing and the situation then becomes worrying. It is difficult therefore to see the same mistakes being repeated over and over again.

Before a condition changes or improves however, it is duly necessary that, the personalities involved understands what they are not doing right in the situation. Having said this, some problems are also inevitable where human beings are but at the same time, not a warranty to justify their greedy actions. We are always at the safest end when we proactively do the right things.

To say the least, bad driving habits are still persistent on our roads today and in a quest to stop or reduce road accidents in the country, I think we really need to take our actions very seriously. We need to put a stop to negative activities that are within our control to stop and by doing what is humanly possible, I believe we can gradually find solutions to the problems which are beyond our controls.

It is evident from what I have seen on our roads that, some drivers are not contributing at all to ensuring safety on our roads. On an early morning around 4.30a.m when the still atmosphere is capable of plotting evil against an undisciplined road user, a driver of a commercial transport service decided to stop in a junction to speak on his mobile phone. Can you imagine this? In fact I saw his action to be careless and very irresponsible that early morning as it could have attracted unimaginable problems.

The sense of awareness and sensitivity to danger on his part was very bad and strangely enough, these are the kind of drivers we have on our roads, occupying delicate positions of preserving and saving human lives. I guess the life of the transport passenger is in the wrong hands and we must really fear, risking our lives in such dangerous and unsafe hands.

The surprising thing is: when I got to his side of the driver (in question) vehicle, I screamed at him to move away from the junction per chance a vehicle may be behind him, looking for space to pass. He did not mind me as he leisurely went about his conversation, spending all the time in the world. So at a point, I wondered what kind of person he is. Which insane person has lost all his brains and tactfulness in life to the extent that, he will decide to stop in the middle of the way and speak on his phone? What instigated him to do what he did?

To make matters worse, he stood in the middle of the road for a long time and as I walked-on, I turned back after sometime to check if he has moved. Surprisingly, he was still standing and at that point in time, I thought his action was a deliberate aim to defy the correction I earlier made about his attitude. But what is the meaning of this behavior? Was it an intentional commitment of an offense to emphasize the wrong? It is certainly not in this manner because two wrongs definitely do not make a right, isn’t it?

What a sensible driver will do is to admit the offense, show remorse and quietly move the vehicle out of that dangerous position for other cars to pass. Fortunately for him, a vehicle never showed-up through-out the distance I walked and it is after I had gone very far before I saw his car moved. It was such an irritating display of arrogance. Where does this attitude take us? This is just one experience of terrible, unpardonable display of human error and weaknesses on our roads.

The second instance is the abusive use of car horns of commercial drivers at dawn. Just consider that, it is naturally difficult to continue one’s sleep at that odd time of the morning. When one is harshly woken-up from sleep at that time, you had better not tried to sleep again and that is the pain of it. Most peoples’ sleep is curtailed by the slightest noise. Yet these taxis and trotro drivers sharply blow their horns as if to scare people out of bed.

The strange thing is there isn’t anybody really standing by the roadside where one will assume that, they are attracting the attention of a proposed passenger. Most people are already on their way to the roadside to pick a vehicle at that time. Now, if the blowing-of-the-horn is to even draw the attention of pedestrians on movement that there is an available moving vehicle, that sounds much sensible. But there are instances where the blowing-of-the-horn is targeted at distracting one’s focus otherwise, they abuse it use. When you complain, some of them will deliberately blow it over and over to show their detestation of your comment. What is the meaning of all these? Drivers and their mates are simply not using their brains in such circumstances. The best alternative I suggest is to rather use their voices to call the passengers which are more sensible and thoughtful.

The other observation I have made is the mode of parking. Drivers still park anyhow in the midst of urgent and unceremonious occasions. For instance, a driver can stop temporarily in the middle of the road to talk to a friend and would not care about his actions. An attempt to alert them of the error is greeted with an adamant and relaxed way of responding. Some will not even mind you at all but keep to their action. Others park with their tail in the active road and without any rude realization of what they have done wrong. Sometimes you have to scream or use a forced-voice to bring their mind to it. The rude ones will still not mind.

There is simply so much arrogance and disregard to correction on our roads and drivers must begin to pay particular attention and give some respect to road ethics and disciplines. The driving lessons must not only be honored at training and when one’s hands are fragile on the steering but must be upheld at all times even to the latter and at the apex of their driving profession and skills-set.

The Ministry for Roads and Highways must also be steadfast in their duties and get a monitoring team to monitor the blindside offenses which often go-away unpunished. Drivers must be made aware of such grievous offenses and a respected Ministry such as what we have must champion the cause to make commuters of our roads put some premium on their road actions. As you know, the abusive Ghanaian would not succumb to any law that is not coming from a state authority. We always want to be left to do the things that please us even if it is detrimental to the rules of the state. The freedom of operation of road users must be checked and controlled.

Early 1900 Australian classroom – Google Image

Teaching is a profession which has always been respected and highly valued throughout time, although in recent times considered to be quite challenging in many ways. However, the following rules for teachers found at the Hervey Bay Historical Museum show that in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, the demands made on teachers stretched much further than the classroom.

Rules for Teachers – 1879 (Hervey Bay Historical Museum)

Teachers will fill lamps and clean chimneys each day before work.

Each teacher will bring a bucket of water and a scuttle of coal for the days session.

Make your pens carefully. You may whittle nibs to the individual taste of the children.

Men teachers may take one evening a week for courting purposes or two evenings to attend church regularly.

After ten hours in school, you may spend the remaining time reading the bible or other good books.

Women teachers who marry or engage in unseemly conduct will be dismissed.

Every teacher should lay aside from each pay a goodly sum for his benefit during his declining years so that he will not become a burden on society.

Any teacher who smokes, uses liquor in any form, frequents pool and public halls, or gets shaved in a barbers shop, will give good reason to suspect his worth, intention, integrity and honesty.

Rules for Women Teachers - 1915 (Hervey Bay Historical Museum)

You will not marry during the term of contract.

You are not to keep company with men.

You must be home between the hours of 8pm and 6am, unless attending a school function.

You may not loiter down town in ice cream parlours.

You may not travel beyond the city limits without the permission of the chairman of the board.

You may not ride in a carriage or automobile with any man unless he is your father or brother.

You may not smoke cigarettes.

You may not dress in bright colours.

You may not under any circumstance dye your hair.

You must wear at least two petticoats and your dresses must not be any shorter than two inches (5cm) above the ankle.

To keep the school room clean you must sweep the floor at least once daily; scrub the floor with hot soapy water at least once a week; clean the black board once a day and start the fire at 7am so that the room is warm when the children arrive.

The trouble with using the bathroom during the school day.

Who would have thought that the bathroom would come up in public discussion? Talking about bathrooms used to be taboo, but not so anymore. As of late, the bathroom fiasco in schools has appeared on the public’s radar. Parents and students alike are up in arms about bathroom policies in school. Some of them are fighting the wrong battle, while others have the right to be fired up.

Let’s be honest, everyone needs to use the bathroom. Not everyone has to use the bathroom as frequently though. Bathroom rules vary widely. Sometimes the school sets specific bathroom break times and limits how many times students may go. More times than not, it’s up to the teacher to decide. There was an article about a New York teacher who chose to limit students’ bathroom breaks to three per week. She also had the common sense rules of one student at a time, you have three minutes, and you must ask plus sign in and out.

I personally don’t agree with the New York teacher’s limit of 3 bathroom vouchers per week. If students don’t use up all of their vouchers at the end of the week, they can turn them in for prizes. Going to the bathroom is a natural occurring event, why should prizes be associated with it? That is unrealistic for many students, especially elementary students. In elementary school, students usually remain with one teacher for the day with the exception of art, music, library, and gym. Those students don’t have an allotted time to go to the restroom if necessary. This New York teacher came up with such a strict policy due to the many disruptions in her classroom. I completely understand that sometimes students abuse their bathroom privileges, but why punish the entire class?

When I notice one of my students is asking to use the restroom frequently, I monitor the times that they are asking, check on them in the hallway, and ask them what is going on. If I notice that they’re playing in the hall then I limit their bathroom times. When several students need to go, it’s simple, the whole class takes a bathroom break. No, it doesn’t take as long as you’d think. It is very organized, we line up and if you need to go you stand on the side with the bathrooms. If you don’t need to go then you stand on the opposite side facing the classroom. Yes, if I allow my students to go, they must take the pass, sign in/out, and I time them. Other teachers set up three class bathroom breaks and if a student needs to go at another time, it has to be when the teacher is not teaching. This basically means when the students are doing work.

Parents should be mad. I’m mad and I’m not even a parent, but I’m a teacher. I get to use the restroom when I first arrive to school, lunch, and planning time. If I need to go any other time, I’m pretty much out of luck and have to suck it up. If your child’s teacher attempts to implement strict bathroom policies like the above, ask for a meeting. When you meet with the teacher, administrators or whoever you’re meeting with, have a list of suggestions.

Romantic relationships can be hazardous to the office environment, depending on how company policy regards such matters and how those involved handle the situation. Many companies prohibit office romances altogether, but some are more tolerant. If ever one feels a tug at the heartstrings from Armand of Accounting, or a skip of the heartbeat at the sight of Lauren from Legal, there are some factors that must be weighed before leaping into a relationship.

Office workers. (Wikipedia image)

Company Policy First

Before officemates even consider being drawn into an office romance, they should ascertain whether company policy allows it. If not, then two officemates becoming involved with each other will be tantamount to playing with fire, in more ways than one.

Maintain Professionalism

If ever officemates do get involved with each other, they must always remember to separate the personal from the professional. Both parties must never allow the relationship to affect the quality of their work. They should avoid romantic behavior in the office, as well. There must be no displays of affection in their place of work. Such behavior should be kept outside of office hours, and preferably where it cannot be witnessed by coworkers or, especially, bosses. Likewise, if those involved are having a lovers’ quarrel, there should be no hint of this in the office, particularly in how they work with each other. Manifestations of personal differences can only have an adverse effect not only on how they perform on the job, but on whether they will continue to keep their jobs.

Respect Office Hierarchy

The office romance that is really potentially hazardous to the office environment, and to the continuing professional health of the employees involved, is the kind between personnel of different ranks. Such a relationship can hurt the chances of getting a raise or a promotion for those involved, at the very least. And, unavoidably, such a relationship will always carry an air of inappropriateness to it. One executive reports that when she brought her boss and an employee with whom he was in a relationship to a meeting, you could feel everyone’s eyes on them, and the tension was so thick you could practically hold it.

Often, feelings are difficult to hide, and if officemates have romantic feelings for each other, these are bound to surface sooner or later. Some office-sharing sweethearts may choose to carry on a romance in defiance of company policy that forbids it. In this case, those involved must at least be very discrete about their relationship. In the end, this is the question employees in such a situation must ask themselves: Is it worth risking the loss of their jobs?

Final Destination five DVD Release...And Some People Actually Give a Damn.

If you wanted a review about how godawful the latest Final Destination movie is, you wouldn’t have a hard time finding one. I’m not here to give you that though; in fact, I want to do just the opposite. For a series that has so far provided fewer entertaining sequels than Good Will Hunting, Final Destination 5 actually manages to deliver something that passes for entertainment. I’ll even go so far as to say that it’s the best installment yet, and yes, I’ve seen them all (come on, so have you…).

Final Destination 5 releases on DVD today alongside such future classics as Apollo 18 and A Good Old Fashioned Orgy, and if you have nothing better to do on a Friday night do yourself a favor and check it out. It’s dark and grisly, there’s some humor, and you might even like it if you’re drunk enough. Sorry, no boobies in this one.

“Ask your partner, anything that makes things turn-on,” advises Yvonne. By finding out what topics couples erotic desire, you will be easier to tell the stories sexy and naughty. Explain that you are in fact also the turn-on while whispering naughty things are. And try to explain in detail so that the fantasy that you will both get more hot!

Do not Push Yourself

“Do not try to make a sound like a porn star, this will only make it realize that you are faking it,” explains Yvonne. Avoid words that are demeaning, because it can make it turn-off, unless you both have agreed that it’s okay to say these things.

Learn about Multiple Keywords

Here are some sentences that are likely to he preferred.

“Honestly, I really like the way you touch me, instead this time it was my turn to touch and feel your body huh?”

“Unfortunately, tonight there is no harm in it if you go deeper, deep, and deeper.”

Combine Talk with Sexy Sexy Move

The good landlord has to follow a few important rules that will help him prepare the property inventory, rent the property securely and prevent any challenges the tenants may pose to his property.

The good landlord has to follow a few important rules that will help him prepare the property inventory, rent the property securely and prevent any challenges the tenants may pose to his property.
To avoid any potential lawsuit, the lessor should make the estate compliable to a few health and safety regulations. To avoid any fire and health risks, the landlord has to provide fire safety environment. If there are any doubts considering the fire resistance of the interior installments, gas and electric equipment, they should be replaced or repaired immediately. It is very important to service the gas installation in order to prevent any explosions or gas leaks. The landlord should present a safety certificate to the tenant that proves the reliability of the installation. Last, but not least, the lessor has to be sure that the electric installation and electric tools given to the tenant are operating properly and all of the safety data should be kept during the tenancy.
The landlord and tenant have to sign a Tenancy agreement, which points out all of the important details about the two parties, the estates’ characteristics, the rent, and both parties’ obligations during the tenancy. This is the most important document the lessor needs to have, as it serves a crucial role in the settling of any potential disputes. The most widely spread variation of this paper is the AST (assured shorthold tenancy agreement) which requires the lessee to be a person (not a firm), the rented estate to be his prime home, and the property to be rented as an individual housing.
Before renting, the landlord has to make a full inventory report of the property. He can do this by himself or use the help of a specialized company. For example if the lessor rents an estate in London inventory company services may aid him greatly in the making of the property inventory services protocol.
It is normal to get a safety deposit from the tenant, in order to motivate them to keep the estate undamaged, or else the landlord keeps the deposit for repairs. A certified third party should keep the deposit and act as a moderator if any disagreements occur.
It is the landlords’ responsibility not to discriminate people by not renting them the estate as a result of a disability, as it’s a criminal offense. The lessors duty is to accommodate the tenants safely, provide them with all the important data they need and to be available for any information or assistance needed by them.
