“And if you obey most of those on earth, they will mislead you from the path of Allah. They are nothing but fancy, and they are nothing but a lie (against Allah) “(Surat Al-An am: 116)

Before the coming of “Valentines Day” Valentine’s Day or anniversary (VD) of 2012, certain food products, such as brown, packed with typical pink colored booths sold in supermarkets, malls, and mini market. Similarly, various flowers, like roses, ready to be offered to young people who want to celebrate it in some places. Roses are synonymous with VD.

Look at Belong Flower Market, West Jakarta. A few weeks before the arrival of VD, the sale of flowers, especially roses, sold like atmosphere ahead of the sale of flowers Id. Extraordinary demand, especially among young people and managers of entertainment venues to welcome VD! In addition to demand soared, prices were pegged up to 300% of a typical day.

While a number of companies, both service providers and other products, also welcome Valentine abuzz with mass media advertising in print, electronic, or on line. It seems like these companies feel “isolated” if not to celebrate Valentine’s Day which falls every year on February 14 that.

Mass media, which some experts Mass Communication Studies referred to as agents of capitalism also helped provide justification to celebrate VD. Before the day arrived VD, a number of news and articles down to discuss the preparation of urban Compton bells welcome VD. As if, VD becomes a new trend that must be followed if we do not want to miss time.

To whom it was given chocolate and flowers? Of those who celebrate VD answer is “to loved ones.” People who loved it could mean mother, father, friend, or more specifically to a boyfriend or girlfriend. And this is the designation for a boyfriend who seems to be most dominant.

Bizarre, indeed. In Muslim-majority country here, warning of an event that actually comes from non-Muslim figures, every year is celebrated with fanfare. Each year the celebration of the more massive due to the increase in VD new generation which was originally not familiar with those who have joined together to enjoy the familiar and the agenda.

Origins of Valentine’s Day

Every generation should know the warning and the celebration of this particular kind of VD. Very naive, or language market “stupid”, if they do not know, let alone “do not want to know” about the history and meaning of a warning. If they do not know the history and meaning behind the memorial VD, is like a “frog in a shell”, while they are in the information technology era with easy access to knowledge from various sources.

If they are being “no idea” that means they like handing him a slave civilization and culture from the outside which is contrary to the values he held for this life.

Citing information from various sources, may we know that VD stems from a Christian priest who was martyred (killed) because of the belief that was followed during the Roman Empire under King Claudius II (268-270 AD). During his life Valentines was mentioned as a figure who live life with compassion. That’s why, so he was killed, then his followers to give the title Saint or a saint (a saint).

The death of St. Valentine on February 14 270 M was then celebrated as a religious ritual in some adherents of the Christian religion. Although later in its development, have gradually shifted into the celebration of the warning that is not based on any particular religion. Valentine’s Day then connected also with a banquet feast of affection ancient Romans called “supercilious”.

However, when the rulers and the Romans followed the Christian religion, supercilious party is linked with the sacred ceremonies commemorating the death of St. Valentines as love. This celebration is spreading rapidly and widely in Europe when people were there to link their belief that when love blossomed like a bird was a male and a female on February 14. Plus myth among the European nations that should be the youth in finding a life partner on February 14, growing to commemorate the spirit of the new generation to join.

In Western countries, where the celebration begins VD, celebrations Wikipedia notes, took second place after the celebration of Christmas. The Greeting Card Association in the United States estimates that worldwide approximately one billion valentine cards are sent each year.

Celebration of VD is now growing rapidly, spreading to all corners of the world. The history and meaning of VD as deliberately concealed warning to other young people to embrace the countries that are not Christian. So, in fact in recent years is the death anniversary of St. Valentine is considered a celebration of universal love that is worth. Excellent!

The excesses of Valentine’s Day

It is human compassion. Every man needs love from each other in living their daily lives. Teachings and values of all religions also emphasize the issue. It’s just that if a memorial day of love that has historical roots with the values, beliefs, and ideology, must have certain values and spirit as well. Although, it may not look his form!

True affection, but the packaging is transformed through pop culture can deviate from intrinsic value. For example, the court in this country that has become commonplace, contrary to the true values of Islam. But, it’s courting of young boys who become the scorn even his friends. Courtship as if a man follows the trend of the current marker of modern life. While they are not going out through the aisle to the seat is obsolete and outdated. Good heavens!

Well, to do with Valentine’s Day, the moment it seems like this is eagerly awaited by those familiar with the pop world, those who follow the current hedonistic and materialistic life. Can already imagine some of those who celebrate VD day to spend time with her boyfriend. There still are reasonable, they are not denying that “translate” VD with an activity that actually violate the law of Allah.

Some of them are not yet clear status of husband and wife spent some time sharing “love” with a date in cafes, in bars, and discotheques. Who can guarantee that they do not do anything close to adultery?

By looking at the harm that occurs from the celebration of this VD, would be time preachers and scholars to aggressively remind “unwanted effect” is. Therefore, it could be millions of young couples celebrate VD here without understanding the meaning and history. They follow the tradition and popular culture that is celebrated by most Western nations that notebene non Muslim.

Islam that has led the holy man with the sacred teachings of love, not love being abused. Do not we do not want a generation that easily swept under the guise of a modern lifestyle, but ignorance is a true modern lifestyle. Valentine’s Day well received in the Muslim-majority countries as being put forward are universal values and lifestyle pop. While the original historical background covered up or obscured.

A purported feast of love celebrated in honour of an acclaimed martyr.

VALENTINE: WORTHY OF CELEBRATION OR NOT

To all those who believe in the celebration of Valentine, I wish you the best of it. There are many versions to this, to some it is lovers feast while to others it is a time to give gifts out to those we love and appreciate. Indeed a time to be generous! Yet to others, it is none existent thing. That is to say they don’t regard it as anything. Whether we celebrate it or not, believe in it or otherwise, one thing is clear, it is a day that has come to stay.

What today is seen and celebrated at its peak as lovers day was a fallout from the power that be. What one would see as rebellious. To be specific, it could be seen as one biting the finger that feeds him. What led to his execution of course was what led to his been on the position he occupied. What moral justification has he then to query the authority he once venerated?

For me and some others that are well equipped of the happenings, I think its celebration would be a thing most regretted as he has the opportunity to escape and be freed but he rather choose to die. Perhaps he envisaged the thought of a martyr which today is accorded him. Why should he equate himself with Christ in his homily?

To get a clear picture of this scene read Murder in the Cathedral. After reading it, you are free to draw your conclusion as to whether your first line of thought was right or wrong.

Let’s assume that it was right. The question that begs for answer is, is there a special day for love and another for hatred? Are we not expected to live out our live as if everything depends on it? Why then should anyone imagine it talk of effecting it that there is a particular day for showing love. Don’t you think this is the doctrine of Satan? Do you observe how the day is been spent?

The irony of it all is that some of the religious bodies are worse offenders. They battle between what is right and wrong. Instead of acting as emissaries of light they rather act as agents of Satan. Where will this lead us to?

Should we then celebrate the feast or leave it? Caution must be taken in order to get the desired result. If at all it should be celebrated, in what form? Even in churches, it has become the talk of the day. Religious leaders should watch it, don’t teach or put on the mind of your adherents a new believe which is not of God.

The push for modernity and illicit affairs done during this period should be a matter of urgent concern. We should naturally cultivate the habit of love and display it at all time. I wish you the best of your choice.

Learn all about Sain Valentine the saint behind Valentine's Day.

The name Saint Valentine is given to two legendary Christian martyrs whose feasts were formerly observed on February 14. One, believed to be a Roman priest martyred c.269 during the persecution of Claudius the Goth, was buried on the Flaminian Way; the second was probably a bishop of Terni martyred in Rome. It is possible that these two legends were based on real people or, as some believe, one person. The association of Saint Valentine’s Day with love and courtship may have arisen from the coincidence of the date with the Roman festival of Lupercalia. In 1969 the feast day was dropped from the Roman church calendar.

Valentine's Day or Dragobetele?

Really, why celebrate?Either one or the other? Or both? Because I saw that some campaigns were launched against celebrating Valentine. It’s so bad that lovers want to celebrate and be happy in a special day for another year? Yes, it’s true, is not holy “our.” They also?

On how cosmopolitan we are Romans, I think Valentine is one of the lowest “bad” that we have borrowed or adopted from the West. Let’s be serious now! Until we find the existence of the Holy Spring, Valentine’s, how many Romans, young and not so young but that they loved, celebrated Dragobetele? That’s Valentine’s trendy. Iara say, they??

After all, we can celebrate both, without any problem. There is no prohibition, no laws that prohibit us. Anyway spring tide comes with her crush, trinkets, snowdrops and gifts for those who love beautiful. An extra day to do this is something bad?

If we think well, it’s like to be repeated and another day closer to the one you love, to show your work in this special way. I sold it and feast. They also? Or to sell more red hearts in different shapes: boxes of chocolates, jewelry, etc. desuuri. However the world sells any kind of event, good or bad. That we all know that’s a good one. What could be wrong in saying that I love in different ways during a day (or night)?

If I had to do list of what I took from strangers and good or bad, I think it would be mostly bad. We adopted the “ fashion ”with drugs, but not Thanksgiving. Yes, history has not bind with anything from us. And actually, we do not give us too crazy about turkey. But it’s so bad to sit at the table with the whole family once a year, eat only cooked goodies in the housetogether and tell each other their “thank you”? Not saying we should embrace and celebration of this, but if I am tired of all the others copy, maybe it’s time to invent something new in the sense that.

Yes, it’s hard to be alone on Valentine’s Day. Let them see and hear them all as lovers make their gifts, as they kiss and hug scrisorele send their poems of love or “sticky” and you to be alone. But there is still an end to the country. On the contrary, you can raise this to you and you find someone with whom to share such moments. Valentine’s Day or Dragobete, when you think of words.

And it’s harder to get to the brink of being broke and being the holiday these days only the Taman. When you see pain! But there are some good memories. Or come to tell you how nice it was, or better to finish and that you can start all over again, trying to find someone else.Maybe not right now, 14 or 24 February, but optimistically, perhaps shortly after.

Valentine’s on February 14. Dragobetele is on … Does anybody know? On February 24. Na, this time as we Americans have gone before! Or from here we conclude that February is for lovers and love? Let’s see how many days a year are devoted to Valentine’s Valentine … … Dragobetele. Ah, fir’ar it! Too many. You have to give up one. But where?? Or what exactly?

(Hide copyright information) Copyright information
Saint Valentine’s Day Western European Christian holiday, originally the Roman feast of Lupercalia . It was christianized in memory of the martyrdom of St. Valentine in AD 270, who, in medieval times, came to be associated with the union of lovers under conditions of duress. The holiday is celebrated on Feb. 14th by the exchange of romantic or comic verse messages called “valentines.” The first commercial valentine greeting cards produced in the United States were created in the 1840s by Esther A. Howland. Today millions of such cards are sold annually.

______________________________________

I have a story to tell about three people……………..

Very smart about their hustle and about themselves. Yet their views about love or moving forward to a next love differentiate, which clashes with each other as even friends. Let’s call them “Relentless”, “Dismayed” and “Ruin”.
Dismayed and Ruin share the same experience of once having a family complete with children and love, the love somehow goes astray and the home becomes a broken one. Dismayed goes to the trials and tribulations of the aftermath of a divorce without even the support of her family. This includes moving on and accepting that this time around this marriage will not reunite. Ruin does accept that the broken home is not going to reunite but deep down inside has the wishful thinking that one day it will. Relentless who is known to play the field is sitting in the sidelines waiting for Dismayed to have an open slot for him in her life. Dismayed doesnt take him serious.
Dismayed and Ruin engage in thier “friendship” both scared of what anything more then a friendship would entail. Dismayed is convinced that she has put her guards down too many times and everytime she has, she’s been hurt, so her next approach is to not put herself out there for anyone!
Ruin is the type Dismayed like’s to call “one that like’s to have his cake and eat it too”. He wants everything a relationship entails such as spending time together and being together physically and emotionally. But Ruin always reminds Dismayed that it may just be as far as that “friendship” may go, Dismayed can take it or leave it. Meanwhile, Relentless is trying to get his time in with Dismayed in order show her that he is serious about being with her. Dismayed feels Relentless is young and wet behind the ears. She feels that he still needs to do some growing up before he can become involved in something as serious as what he claims he wants to be involved in with Dismayed. She’s attracted to him but has many issues with persuing anything with him, including losing a great friend. Dismayed is trying to iron out what she should do about the whole situation, even though it isn’t one that has her losing sleep at night.
Dismayed feels that Ruin wants to have many things with her except the real thing. She feels he is setting things up in a way, that if one day he has a change of heart and meets someone else he wants to spend time with and date, Dismayed has no room to say anything to him. It’s simple enough to Dismayed though , with the conversations they have had together Ruin has made things very clear in the past, About how they will never go further then they already have…..Which all seems minor to her for the moment, she doesn’t feel it is necessary to reiterate this over and over because all it does is push her away.

Dismayed still has a decision to make about what to do with Valentines day…

After long thought Dismayed desided that while many think that Valentine’s Day is majorly consentrated on the significant other, it would be ideal in her situation if Valentine’s day would focus on the “love for oneself”.

At the end of the day Dismayed decided to brake plans with Ruin an asked Relentless for a rain check when he asked her out. She spent her evening with her daughter whom she asked to be her Valentine. Redefining Valentine’s for herself.

What is love? And how do it have connection with Saint Valentine's Day?

On Sunday in church I entered and saw the choir singing, instantly without asking anybody I knew I was already late for service I have missed the praise and worship session. But I kept hearing music after music, I turned to Lekan my friend who was sitting next to me and said “it seems like today is going to be all round music”.

After the choir cleared the stage a guy jumped up from his seat with a girl chasing and pleading him, he screamed “its over between us I cant continue” I speculated, what’s happening in church toady, I was a bit scared expecting my pastor to do something; yes pastor Dele Balogun of the waterbrook church in Nigeria. I watched him closely but he was still gazing as I was gazing too at them who one could call couple screaming in church. I then realized the drama group is at it again, it was really an interesting drama. Well I will not be able to tell the whole story just the way it ended. The whole emphasis from the drama is just how much can you love, how much can you suffer for love and how much you can endure patiently.

Then later, a lady from “The Dome” was introduced to take the stage for music, I really do not know her name but I can still recall her powerful words. Sure they did sink into my mind. She began by saying that love is in the air, the moment she let lose those words; I felt love within me, not just the love that am surrounded by Christians who love God, rather the Love of Christ. I felt the love so deep inside me, I felt it so much I almost wanted to weep, but I controlled it and she went further by saying love is a choice only the wise can make, most remarkably she said true love won’t hurt you, love is the treasure only the brave can find; all this she said while she sang.

I went so deep; I began to go into analysis within myself about life, about human, about nature and about love. I then asked what is love? How do people feel it? They say its spirit, according to philosophy which says it’s an abstract, meaning it’s something you can only feel but you will never get to touch it. According to English language; love is a verb and a verb is an action word. The dictionary defines love as a strong feeling or deep affection for something or somebody.

An action word? Yes; an action word. We cannot say we love people if we cannot prove it to them, their must be action. Love is an abstract but we can give it, does it surprise you? A proper illustration from the Bible is “for God so love the world that HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGATTEN SON”. The Bible says “HE loved us first” because “HE GAVE.” Words are empty, words alone cannot show love, there must be an action coming with words or words coming with an action. Yes Christ himself said it in the New Testament “greater love has no man than this than for a man to lay down his life for his friend” that’s an action the “lay-down life.”

In today’s life, love is capitalized by giving. Yes that can be attributed to love too. people giving are selective, most times people give to people that don’t even need their giving, the once that desperately need that particular gift they resist them. Well I don’t want to put much into that today maybe in my next note or later. Do you think all giving is love? People say that Love is unconditional; love is free of pride and prejudice.

If the later paragraph is true, then don’t you think that people are full of lust? Because if it’s not love it’s lust; yes, lust is infatuations it does not last more three to five months, lust is very conditional, it must get its portion of that it gave to you, it quickly runs out of patient if it does not get its portion, it does not mind taking it back from you, leaving you with a heart break. Off course it goes to another door with that same gift to entice any one who will fall for its false feelings and empty words of promises. Lust can give you anything for valentine or don’t mind asking you for what you can’t offer at valentine and you must offer it. That’s lust for you

Let’s even take a minute to talk about valentine. What is valentine? Valentine as a name means Healthy and Strong; the origin is Latin-American. Notice the word you will find “en” in between VAL and TINE that /en/ means “and” /Val/ means “Healthy” /Tine/ means “Strong”. You might wonder where the love thing does come from. According to History Saint Valentine is a catholic priest. I will not be able to give the exactitude of this history but it will be of important to note that saint valentine was not the only valentine during his season but because he lived an exceptional life from all the other valentines just like Michael Jackson in today’s life, this mean that even if you are born in March you can be named valentine; yes. According to the story I read, he (valentine or saint valentine) was a loving person, when he died on February 14 well I don’t know the exact year. They decided to remember him every 14th of February also they charged everybody to emulate him, by showing love to neighbors, friends and many more.

If you watch how the world celebrate valentine today you will notice that something is missing, the valentine love is now between male and a female most likely. Are they emulating the so called saint valentine? Is the world not dedicating that day to drunkenness and fornication? Are many homes not broken that very day just because of the gift presented was not expensive enough? Are many girls not losing their chastity that very day? Where is the emulation, where is the love. Lust is enjoying a great celebration on this very day.

Many people after Valentines Day will never say “I love you” or buy any gift for folks who they profess to love till another valentine. Don’t you think most people are living in bondage in the hand of infatuations? And they called it love? God save us;

God gave us three hundred and sixty five days in a year, why should we then celebrate love only once in a year? Have we forgotten that God himself is love? Are we not supposed to love one another every day? The gift that will be most appreciated to me is an “unexpected gift at an unexpected time.” A wife will be happier if the husband wakes up one morning and just say to her “honey I love you” and give present her a gift, off course she will be happier because that morning she was not expecting a gift, but the “I love you” she is expecting every day and every hour.

Let’s not live in that same bondage, love and lust have one thing in common which is “giving” but they are not synonyms. We should be able to differentiate love and lust. Love can endure for ever but lust can endure at maximum nine months. Love will celebrate everyday including valentine day, but lust will celebrate only once or never.

In closing, I would like to advice that we should not emulate saint valentine or who ever. If truly saint valentine lived a loving life, that’s good but also remember he would not do that without the help of the Author and the founder of love which is GOD.

JEHOVAH God and his son JESUS is only worthy of emulation because HE love us each day, the Bible say “His love, mercy, and faithfulness are new every morning” not every 14th of February even on that valentine day HIS LOVE is still NEW.

Please after reading the above I would like to hear your point of view. Together we can find answer to true LOVE also if you want help with the History of Valentine please go ahead.

Thanks

Eze Valentine

Did you go out on the 14th of february this month ? How did you value spending some time alone with your friends and loved ones ? If you did not do anything on that day , it would be nice knowing what your convictions are about this celebration of love in your neighbourhood. So many people gave gifts and spent time indoors with those they love to make the day a memorable one . The question that has been left un-answered , however , is must love be celelebrated on a designated day alone and not at all times of the year ? What was the motive behind this noble practice before now and how can those of us in modern times make good use of a noble and virtuous practice ? Some people i know are of the view that true love is a myth to man. This is a statement i am yet to come to terms with. It is surprising to me to hear that some people have used up so much energy celebrating something called LOVE . So i ask myself is this love real or fake ? If it is real , then how can i make my next valentine better ?

THE HISTORY OF VALENTINE

For the benefit of those who do not want any form of mental exercise before understanding the origin of valentine , we shall do a very brief background study of the celebration. It is said that february 14th of every month is celebrated to remember the execution of Saint Valentine.

According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, there were at least three early Christian saints by the name of Valentine. One was a priest in Rome, another was a bishop in Terni. Nothing is known about the third St. Valentine except that he met his end in Africa. Surprisingly, all three of them were said to have been martyred on the same day-14th February.Wether this is coincidence or the work of fate is left to your good judgement.

The saint whose death we commemorate in the celebration of valentine was said to be a priest who lived in the time of Emperor Claudius ( A ruthless and wicked king in ancient Rome ) The emperor felt that marriage made men weak and un-willing to enlist in the army of Rome. In order to stem the ugly development , the emperor passed a decree making the wedding of a man to woman a crime purnishable by law. The purnishment was death. The kings of ancient times were that cruel.Who knows if that is where Saddam Hussein and Housni Mubarak got their clout from. The priest did not approve of the king’s methods and he kept on wedding couples in secret . The man was true to his vows. On a fateful day , he was arrested , improsoned and executed for defying the Royal decree. He wanted the memories of lover to be re-ignited . In extension , he wished for peace in the world and for peace to be at the centre of society beginning with the family.

The family is the smallest unit of soceity. Just as the cell is the smallest unit of any living organism and determines the growth and survival of that organism , so does the family determine the love and peace we all dream about in society. If we go back to strengten familly ties and keep the flame of love burning in the family, then we can be sure that we have exercised the true significance of celebrating the matyr of saint valentine. what else does Love mean to you ? Some of us would love to know . It is so much irony to find that our world which is bedevilled by so many vice which stem from loveless hearts would have the moral guption to reel in excitement at the thought of a ‘Lovers day’.

You may have celebrated valentine . But after that what next ?

Every February 14, in the United States and other locations throughout the world, candy, flowers and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine. While Valentines Day is now commonly known as the Hallmark holiday, the question remains, who is this mysterious St. Valentine?

February has been known as the month of romance for quite some time. St. Valentine’s Day contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition. The question is, who was Saint Valentine and what did he do to garner enough attention to have a day named after him? The Catholic Church recognizes three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus. Lets take a look at a few legends that might answer the question of Valentine.

One legend suggests that Valentine was a priest that served during the third century in Rome. At the time Emperor Claudius II decided single men were better soldiers than married men so he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine thought the law was a great injustice and continued to perform secret marriage ceremonies for young lovers. When Claudius found out about this he ordered that Valentine be put to death.

Another story suggest that Valentine was killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons where people were often beaten and tortured.

The last legend says that Saint Valentine actually sent the first “valentine” himself, while he was imprisoned. Legend has it that he was in love with his jailor’s daughter, who often visited him. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her one final letter signed “From your Valentine” which is an expression still used today. Though a definitive truth of Valentine is unclear, the legends portray St. Valentine as a romantic, heroic, and sympathetic figure.
