Therefore, location is the oldest salt mine known to date and has been proven. Moreover, the researchers were struck by intensive salt production is done at this mine at least in the year 3500 BC.

Archaeologists have recently provided evidence that the salt deposit located in the Valley Duzdagi Araxes in Azerbaijan has begun to be exploited since the 5th century BC.

Therefore, location is the oldest salt mine known to date and has been proven. Moreover, the researchers were struck by intensive salt production is done at this mine at least in the year 3500 BC.

The study of implementation in collaboration with the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences will help decipher how the first complex civilizations which flourished between 4500 BC and 3500 BC in the Caucasus organized. Similarly, as quoted by ScienceDaily

Symbolic and economic value of salt in ancient and medieval is well known. Recent findings indicate that the salt may play an important role in protosejarah community or society that existed before the emergence of writing. How salt is taken? Two commonly used techniques are based on a lump of salt extraction or sedimentary deposits that contain high concentrations of salt that can be eaten, and a collection of sun-dried salt in salt marshes. Knowledge of these techniques are used long ago to exploit raw materials such as salt, obsidian, or copper, allowing archaeologists to deduce important information about the needs and level of complexity of ancient societies. In the Caucasus region, the first path of intensive exploitation of salt chunks proto history arise when people experience greater economic and technological changes, especially regarding the development of copper metallurgy for the first time.

To understand these interactions, CNRS researcher Catherine Marro and his team explore the Araxes valley (Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan) during the last ten years. The archaeologists are particularly special in the salt mines Duzdagi memfokaskan located in Azerbaijan, more specifically next to the medieval Silk Road linking Tabriz (northwest Iran) with Constantinople. Until now, tracking, tracing the exploitation of this deposit, which is still in operation, it is known from the 2nd century BC. This calendar is based on the unexpected discovery in the 1970s from an old porch collapse that contains the remains of four workers who were buried with their equipment.

In 2008, the Azerbaijan-French team led by Marro and colleague Veli Baxsaliyev Duzdagi begin systematic exploration of the mine. The team then makes an inventory of a large number of relics (equipment, ceramics, etc..), The oldest dating from 4500 BC. This is the first time these artifacts from this period are found in large numbers in a salt mine. Therefore, the researchers could show that the exploitation of the salt mine has been going very long, at least starting in the fifth century BC. Thus Duzdagi is the oldest salt mine known to date.

One more amazing fact is that many artifacts from the early Bronze Age indicated that mining Duzdgi intensively exploited since the 4th century BC. Hundreds of picks and hammers in fact found near the entrances of the tunnels collapsed. Many fragments of pottery clay are found near the site that are specifically a part of culture known as “Kuro-Araxes”, allowing the researchers to find out the age of archaeological artifacts. Spatial and chronological distribution was analyzed by geographic information system that combines satellite images, aerial photographs taken with a kite and mapping artifacts by DGPS, a similar device GPS (Global Positioning System). Such intensive extraction indicates that the salt of Duzdagi not limited to local use by small communities are self-supporting. No doubt the distribution is done in the economic framework that is still not known, to destinations further afield. Moreover, it appears that the extracted salt is not only accessible to communities in the Araxes valley. Exploitation since the 5th century BC seems to be the privilege of certain prominent groups.

This discovery raises many questions. Whom and for what it was meant salt in the 5th century BC and the 4th? How communities exploit these deposits organized? What economic and political relations between regional places (neighborhoods, workplaces and mines), and so forth? To find some answers to these questions, the archaeologists hope in the near future be able to dig tunnels collapsed, covering more than 6 km2.

Salty food encourages cataracts. This is the conclusion of a study carried out by Australian scientists at the University of Sydney.

By examining 3,000 adults, the researchers were able to observe that a diet high in salt encouraged an unusual clouding of the lens in the eye.

The findings appeared in the German Journal Aerztliche Praxis (medical practice), published in Grafelfing, near Munich.

The journal described how 160 participants suffered from a special form of cataract.

By means of a nutritional questionnaire, the team found that those who most frequently added salt to their food suffered from cloudy lenses twice as often as those who consumed less salt.

A new hero arrives in Gotham, but Batman finds himself even more over-worked than ever.

COMIC BOOK REVIEW BATMAN BLADES 1994 (2007 reprint) DC

James Robinson – Writer. Tim Sale – Artist.

The longest story in the 2007 Tim Sale anthology, Tales Of The Batman.

A tremendous Batman tale, with the Dark Knight troubled by multiple levels of crime activity and a new vigilante in town.

Someone calling himself Lime is killing old people in Gotham, usually with long distance rifle shots but sometimes with bombs and in one case, (an old couple) cutting their throats up close. Batman is at a loss to find any clues as to whom or where the killer is.

A series of audacious jewel heists are also going on, and a Zorro like figure, the Cavalier, has turned up, using rapier swords to pin down the crooks on the streets of Gotham. Batman finds his public popularity waning due to the dashing new hero, who he views with jealousy and trepidation, but accepts that the man seems to be genuinely contributing to crime control in Gotham city.

The dashing, smiling fencing hero is actually an actor who has started out fighting crime for real as a publicity stunt to boost his flagging career, hoping to unmask publicly in order to promote his next performance, but he has found the excitement of the role he has taken on too exciting to let it go.

The Cavalier’s fortunes change when he saves a woman from committing suicide and falls in love with her. He discovers that she murdered her husband in a panic during one of his drunken assaults upon her. Though she got away with the crime she has been being blackmailed by a leading powerful Gotham City gangster, Randalph Salt, who seems to be modelled on Noel Coward. Finding Salt too powerful an opponent to confront directly, the Cavalier gives in to his blackmail demands and starts under-taking the robberies that add to Batman’s woes.

Though committed from noble reason, the robberies excite The Cavalier as much as his heroic good guy role. He enjoys it too much. Realizing too late that Salt will never stop blackmailing him and his lover, The Cavalier murders Salt and realizes that his status as a fugitive is now secure. Batman will now have no choice but to bring him down. His doom is assured as he and Batman move to inevitable confrontation. Batman is ill, exhausted and worn down by the sheer workload he is taking on, and there is a danger that the Cavalier might actually defeat the more experienced crime avenger, but does he really want to defeat Batman? Or does he want to die in a blaze of glory? The ending is astonishing.

The Lime murders plot never really intersects with The Cavalier story, and seems straight out of an Agatha Christie tale. The clues to Lime’s identity are present before Batman works things out, and it is in itself a fine piece of story telling, and overall this is a marvellous work-taking Batman to new heights of character depth and genuine surprise.

An ancient greek myth that explains why the ocean is salty.

The Salty Ocean

Long ago in the land of Greece the ancient gods and their people loved to eat. But there was a problem. The people started getting bored of the same old Bland food until one day an explorer discovered salt. Initially it was a rock but after it was turned into powder, everyone yearned to use it on their food. Even the gods loved to use it with food. All the gods loved it except for one; Hades. There was only one problem with salt, if anyone from the underworld were to eat it, it could only be eaten there. So, all the gods forbid Hades to have salt.

The ocean was also a very different place. It was full of life. Fish were plentiful and were often as big as the humans that caught them. But that all changed on the faithful day.

One day Hermes was particularly bored and was looking for something fun to do. He got hungry and bought some salted bread, with the bread he decided to visit Hades.

“Why art thou eating in my palace, allow me to fetch thy some food” said Hades.

“No matter, I have here some salted bread” replied Hermes “would thy like some?” he had completely forgotten that Hades couldn’t eat salt.

“Get out of my sight!” said Hades enraged. Now he was going to get rid of salt forever. Hades understood that if he got rid of it in the open all of Greece would hate him, but he had a more cunning plan in mind. He planned to send a spirit demon into the soul of The King of Olympia where all the Salt of Greece was mined.

When all the salt mines were exhausted the possessed King decided to withhold all of the salt, much to the anger of the gods and the rest of Greece. The townsfolk decided to ram down the door to his palace and take the salt for themselves. When the King realized what was happening he loaded up all the salt onto his ship and set sail for the Ionian Sea. With the immense weight of the ship some of the salt fell out and killed a few fish. Unfortunately the god of the sea Poseidon was there. It enraged him so much to see his fish die that he summoned a huge tsunami and destroyed the king’s ship.

This was a huge mistake for it caused all the salt on the ship to fall in the sea. But what Poseidon did not know was that the great wave had also spread the salt to the four corners of the world killing many fish in its wake. Zeus was furious but did not know who to blame, yet it would not change the fact that the Greeks would never be able to have salt again or that they would not catch nearly the same number of fish. And that is why the ocean is salty.

Most of Americans’ household food budget is spent on processed foods, the majority of which are filled with additives and stripped of nutrients. Discover which common ingredients in the foods you eat pose the greatest risk to your health.

Grab the broccoli with cheese sauce from the freezer, the box of instant rice pilaf from the pantry, or the hot dogs from your fridge and squint at the ingredient list’s fine print. You’ll likely find food additives in every one.
Is this healthy? Compared to the foods our bodies were built to eat, definitely not.
Processed, packaged foods have almost completely taken over the diet of Americans. Unfortunately, most processed foods are laden with sweeteners, salts, artificial flavors, factory-created fats, colorings, chemicals that alter texture, and preservatives. But the trouble is not just what’s been added, but what’s been taken away. Processed foods are often stripped of nutrients designed by nature to protect your heart, such as soluble fiber, antioxidants, and “good” fats. Combine that with additives, and you have a recipe for disaster.
Here are the 4 major ingredients to look out for in processed foods:

Trans Fats:
Trans fats are in moist bakery muffins and crispy crackers, microwave popcorn and fast-food French fries, even the stick margarine you may rely on as a “heart-healthy” alternative to saturated-fat-laden butter.
Once hailed as a cheap, heart-friendly replacement for butter, lard and coconut oil, trans fats have been denounced by one Harvard nutrition expert as “the biggest food-processing disaster in U.S. history.” Why? Research now reveals trans fats are twice as dangerous for your heart as saturated fat, and cause an estimated 30,000 to 100,000 premature heart disease deaths each year.
Trans fats are worse for your heart than saturated fats because they boost your levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol and decrease “good” HDL cholesterol. That’s double trouble for your arteries. And unlike saturated fats, trans fats also raise your levels of artery-clogging lipoprotein and triglycerides.
Check the ingredient list for any of these words: “partially hydrogenated,” “fractionated,” or “hydrogenated” (fully hydrogenated fats are not a heart threat, but some trans fats are mislabeled as “hydrogenated”). The higher up the phrase “partially hydrogenated oil” is on the list of ingredients, the more trans fat the product contains.
Replacing trans fats with good fats could cut your heart attack risk by a whopping 53 percent.

Refined Grains:
Choosing refined grains such as white bread, rolls, sugary low-fiber cereal, white rice, or white pasta over whole grains can boost your heart attack risk by up to 30 percent. You’ve got to be a savvy shopper. Don’t be fooled by deceptive label claims such as “made with wheat flour” or “seven grain.” Or by white-flour breads topped with a sprinkling of oats, or colored brown with molasses. Often, they’re just the same old refined stuff that raises risk for high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart attacks, insulin resistance, diabetes, and belly fat.
At least seven major studies show that women and men who eat more whole grains (including dark bread, whole-grain breakfast cereals, popcorn, cooked oatmeal, brown rice, bran, and other grains like bulgur or kasha) have 20 to 30 percent less heart disease. In contrast, those who opt for refined grains have more heart attacks, insulin resistance, and high blood pressure.
Read the ingredient list on packaged grain products. If the product is one of those that are best for you, the first ingredients should be whole wheat or another whole grain, such as oats. The fiber content should be at least 3 grams per serving.

Salt:
Three-quarters of the sodium in our diets isn’t from the saltshaker. It’s hidden in processed foods, such as canned vegetables and soups, condiments like soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce, fast-food burgers (and fries, of course), and cured or preserved meats like bacon, ham, and deli turkey.
Some sodium occurs naturally in unprocessed edibles, including milk, beets, celery, even some drinking water. And that’s a good thing: Sodium is necessary for life. It helps regulate blood pressure, maintains the body’s fluid balance, transmits nerve impulses, makes muscles — including your heart — contract, and keeps your senses of taste, smell, and touch working properly. You need a little every day to replace what’s lost to sweat, tears, and other excretions.
What happens when you eat more salt than your body needs? Your body retains fluid simply to dilute the extra sodium in your bloodstream. This raises blood volume, forcing your heart to work harder; at the same time, it makes veins and arteries constrict. The combination raises blood pressure.
Your limit should be 1,500 milligrams of sodium per day, about the amount in three-fourths of a teaspoon of salt. (Table salt, by the way, is 40 percent sodium, 60 percent chloride.) Older people should eat even less, to counteract the natural rise in blood pressure that comes with age. People over 50 should strive for 1,300 mg; those over 70 should aim for 1,200 mg.
Only the “Nutrition Facts” panel on a food package will give you the real sodium count. Don’t believe claims on the package front such as “sodium-free” (foods can still have 5 mg per serving); “reduced sodium” (it only means 25 percent less than usual); or “light in sodium” (half the amount you’d normally find)

High Fructose Corn Syrup:
Compared to traditional sweeteners, high-fructose corn syrup costs less to make, is sweeter to the taste, and mixes more easily with other ingredients. Today, we consume nearly 63 pounds of it per person per year in drinks and sweets, as well as in other products. High-fructose corn syrup is in many frozen foods. It gives bread an inviting, brown color and soft texture, so it’s also in whole-wheat bread, hamburger buns, and English muffins. It is in beer, bacon, spaghetti sauce, soft drinks, and even ketchup.
Research is beginning to suggest that this liquid sweetener may upset the human metabolism, raising the risk for heart disease and diabetes. Researchers say that high-fructose corn syrup’s chemical structure encourages overeating. It also seems to force the liver to pump more heart-threatening triglycerides into the bloodstream. In addition, fructose may zap your body’s reserves of chromium, a mineral important for healthy levels of cholesterol, insulin, and blood sugar.
To spot fructose on a food label, look for the words “corn sweetener,” “corn syrup,” or “corn syrup solids” as well as “high-fructose corn syrup.”

You're probably sick of hearing dire warnings about the harmful effects of salt in the diet. As with Anthropogenic Global Warming however there are two sides to the debate but only one is presented in mainstream media.
This article tries to go some way to redressing the balance by showing that as with AGW the "science" is by no means settled.

There has been a bit of a kerfuffle in the media about the dangers of salt in our diet. Some are going so far as to say salt is the new tobacco.

While health campaigners have been banging on for several decades about how harmful salt is to humans (so harmful in fact that if we don’t get enough we get very ill and die) in the last ten years the intensity of the campaign has been stepped up. Think back to 2004 and a government misinformation campaign that featured Sid, a “giant slug with a message”, who slimed his way onto television screens back to warn people about the dangers of consuming too much salt. “Stay away from fast cars, loose women and SALT!” he screamed.

Stay away from SALT? Now that really is nonsensical. Sodium, the active ingredient of salt is not only one of the minerals most essential to life, it is present in everything we eat, in fact those “five a day” portions of fruit and vegetables the government’s misinformation campaigners are always haranguing us about contain quite a lot of sodium.

Sid’s message, (YouTube) that a sprinkling of sodium not only kill slugs but humans too, has now become the received wisdom worldwide. High salt intake is linked to high blood pressure, or hypertension as medical scientists wrongly call it (well what would you expect, they’re scientists?) Salt is a key risk factor for strokes, heart attacks and other cardiovascular diseases they rave. Together those rank as the world’s number one killers. In the warped and fervid imaginations of scientists salt induced cardio vascular problems are far bigger killers than malnutrition, poverty or old age . The World Health Organization (WHO – the people who brought you the Swine Flu pandemic) puts cutting salt intake alongside quitting smoking as one of the top 10 “best buys” in public health.

“Blood pressure is the biggest cause of death in the world … and salt is the most important thing that puts it up,” says Graham MacGregor, a professor of cardiovascular medicine at the London-based Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine and chairman of the influential World Action on Salt and Health lobby group (WASH). “Cutting back on salt gives a direct beneficial effect on the biggest cause of death in the world. That’s why it’s so important.” Just think about the sheer idiocy of that statement and you realise Mr. McGregor is a serious rival to Barack Hussein Obama as the most stupid individual in the world. Blood pressure is the biggest killer? Well in a crazy way I suppose it’s true. If we don’t have blood pressure we’re already dead, possibly through lack of sodium. Therefore everybody who dies must have some blood pressure in order to be able to do so. But you don’t have to take my word for it. There are plenty of doctors and medical researchers question the “science“

So what is the truth?

Recent scientific research suggests the basis for a global hate campaign by the “progressive liberal consensus” against salt that rivals their hate campaigns against tobacco, alcohol, junk food and the working classes is not what you’d call rock solid. In fact all, that is ALL, the evidence that was not funded by big pharma who want to protect us from cardio vascular disease by forcing anyone over 50 to take blood pressure lowering drugs) points to the fact that salt intake way above the recommended daily level is not harmful to people whose bodies are functioning normally. Two 2011 studies indicate that the evidence is inconclusive, or that reducing salt may even be harmful.

I should point out here I almost died as a result of having too much sodium in my blood. The problem was not related to diet however but to stress. Too many years of working in a high stress environment resulted in an adrenal gland malfunction, Conn’s Syndrome, which cause my body to retain salt and eliminate potassium, a very dangerous imbalance of blood electrolytes. Once diagnosed the condition is easily controllable but my doctor (you’ve heard of Dr. Dolittle? Well this guy was Dr. Do-nothing;) was more interested in lecturing me on the evils of salt and an unhealthy diet than actuially finding out what was wrong. Eventually I was left brain damaged and paralyzed by a brain haemorrhage. (That is another story however which you can read in my memoir of recovery Calumnious Strokes – which will be online soon.)

“There’s a view that salt is the root cause of all high blood pressure worldwide and some people religiously hold on to that belief,” said Tony Heagerty, head of the cardiovascular research group at Britain’s Manchester University and a former president of the International Society of Hypertension. “But the evidence for that is actually pretty flimsy.” As Dr. Heagarty says, “If you torture data long enough it will give you the answer you want.”

Note that appearance of that word “religiously.” We have seen climate scientists turning their science into a religion, now we find that medical scientists are at it. Scientists seem to hold to the dogmas of their profession more tightly than the fine people of Pennsylvania are alleged by certain politicians to cling to their guns and Bibles.

After years of claims by the academic lobby who are in the pay of big pharma and big government that on salt “the science is settled” (now where have we heard that before?) in recent months debate that has flared with each side harnessing a legion of experts in hypertension, heart disease, nutrition and scientific analysis. The salt industry has, naturally, jumped on studies that question the conventional wisdom, and at least one food manufacturer has started to add salt back to some of its processed foods. At times, as happened when people started to challenge the spurious and now discredited claims that the science was settled and carbon dioxide emitted by human activity was solely responsible for climate problems, the row became very personal with the science lobby, having no logical argument other than, “We’re scientists, that proves we’re right,” adopting tactics usually associated with religious zealots and political seditionists to attack their critics.

Us poor consumers are again trapped in the middle of these two interest groups, both of which stand to gain by winning their case. Some people in the anti – salt lobby may have jumped to the conclusion that I am a fan of salty food. They could not be more wrong, I have always hated salty food and the junk food which relies on the addition of excessive salt to mask the fact that it is over processed, disgusting, bland, tasteless pap. I dislike the taste of salt too. But such things are down to individual choice.

Instead of being allowed to exercise our freedom to choose we have become unsuspecting guinea pigs in a grand global experiment.

“The two sides are totally polarized and there’s no agreement or consensus on what the answer is,” says Peter Sherratt of the UK Salt Association. “Any new scientific paper which supports the anti-salt position is lauded as proof salt consumption is dangerous, but any piece of evidence or science showing salt is beneficial, or reducing it dangerous, is criticized as unrepresentative and unscientific,” he said. This sounds, does it not, exactly like a reprise of the non – debate about carbon dioxide, with the side that has government and the media on board simply shouting down opposing views.

The salt issue has big implications for the pharmaceutical business however. Salt used in food accounts for only a fraction of the 250 million tonnes of annual global production. Looking at the United States alone, 1.5 million tonnes of so-called human nutrition salt was sold in 2009 with a value of more than $321 million.

But the U.S. snack foods industry, a key consumer of salt which includes major companies like Pepsico’s Frito-Lay and Kraft’s Nabisco, has a combined annual revenue of $27 billion, according to analysis by company profile builder Hoover’s. Then there’s the business of selling drugs to treat high blood pressure. Worldwide sales of anti-hypertensives were around $35 billion in 2009, according to research by Deutsche Bank.

So when we look objectively at the case against salt and wonder why it is so demonised, as usual it’s a case of “follow the money.” Regardless of the effect on health, there is more money at stake for the supporters of the anti salt lobby, particularly if they can persuade government to pass the laws that will make criminals of those who refuse to take their daily doses of blood thinners, beta blockers and artery scrubbers. Just don’t ask about the harmful effects such drugs might have on people who don’t actually suffer from the conditions the drugs treat.

Recently, two medical controversies have made headlines: the question of whether too much salt is bad for your health and the debate over whether widely used antidepressant drugs work any better than placebo.

The two issues are not as unrelated as they may seem. Both persist because the scientific evidence on these issues, while vast, is too limited to answer them. Both also turn on the importance of differences between individual patients, rather than what the data say in aggregate.

The antidepressant debate was revitalized recently by a two-part New York Review of Books series looking at new books critiquing the effectiveness of psychiatric drugs. In response, Peter Kramer, author of the seminal book Listening to Prozac, wrote an op-ed in the New York Times titled “In Defense of Antidepressants.”

The salt controversy also got new life in the media, following the recent publication of several conflicting studies that tried to determine whether eating too much salt increases the risk of heart disease risk or heart-related death. (There’s no consensus.) Meanwhile, health officials have called on food companies to lower salt content in their products, a move that has been met with intense criticism by some health experts and those representing the salt industry.

Both the salt and antidepressant debates involve high emotion, fierce partisanship and industries with large financial stakes in what the research ultimately concludes. Both also involve substances that have been alternately shown by varying studies to have positive or negative effects.

Those who say antidepressants are overused cite reviews of the data that show the drugs to be no more effective than placebos for all but the most severe cases of depression; they also claim that even in these worst cases of mental illness, the drugs offer little real advantage.

But supporters of widespread use of antidepressants look at the same data and say that the research shows that the drugs do work; further, they argue that the placebo effect cannot reasonably account for the huge improvements seen by doctors and by many depressed patients.

Critics highlight cases in which antidepressant use has been linked to suicides and even homicides. Supporters blame such incidents on the underlying depression or on anomalous individual reactions to the drugs.

With salt, the story is similar. The aggregate data from large studies typically show that eating high levels of salt does not in fact increase risk of heart attack or early death, and yet some studies do show such harms. Most cardiologists and kidney specialists also tend to agree that salt has a direct impact on blood pressure: doctors treating hypertensive patients have found that reducing dietary salt helps lower blood pressure in many cases.

The problem is that, in both the antidepressant and the salt questions, the aggregate data find little effect. And yet, in both cases, individual responses vary widely. One patient with high blood pressure may cut salt from his diet and no longer need his blood-pressure pills; another patient with congestive heart failure might cut salt and increase his risk of death.

A depressed patient may take Prozac and find that for the first time in her life, she feels safe and has the strength to cope. Another can take the same drug and want to kill himself.

When the data in such cases are looked at in the aggregate, these opposing responses cancel each other out: one group shows improvement, while the other deteriorates. To the statisticians, it looks like nothing has happened at all. To the individual doctor treating specific patients, however, the picture is stunningly different. Yet, for the purposes of scientific evidence, these patient “anecdotes” cannot be considered data.

Because anecdotes aren’t reliable — they are subjective reports that can wrongly suggest that ineffective treatments work or that effective ones don’t — we carry out large-scale randomized clinical trials. But the aggregate data that result from these trials may obscure the necessary details: which subgroups are being helped and which are being harmed?

To solve the puzzle, we need to know more about what antidepressants actually do in the brain and how salt really affects blood pressure. We need to know about what interactions affect these outcomes. For example, with salt the ratio of sodium intake to potassium intake may be what matters, rather than salt consumption alone. With depression, both genetic and psychosocial factors are bound to influence the effects of the drugs.

This requires us to accommodate and plan for increasing complexity, both when designing research studies and when creating policies that affect clinical care or public health. In both cases, there are clearly very real effects in many people. In both cases, there’s also an industry that wants to expand its market. But failing to acknowledge individual differences isn’t going to get us any closer to the truth.

Bolshinstvo people know that the time from Christmas, that is, starting from January seven and up to Epiphany - January 19, called Christmas Eve.
And throughout this time, you can guess.
With some of the Christmas fortune-telling you, we will introduce in this article, but just want to warn that the Orthodox Church does not approve of such activities, and rather sternly refers to those who violate the prohibitions.
If you're a person an unbeliever and calm attitude to the pagan customs and rituals, then this information for you.

Want to know: will come true or not, or that your desire?

Then sprinkle a handful of rice in a plate and put beside the candle, hold your left hand over the flour, and make a wish, and then a pinch of rice from the dish to pour on a piece of cloth in front of you and count the seeds.
If the number turns out to be even, the wish will come true, and vice versa.

You can use the TV and makes a wish, turn the channel, which was chosen in advance, you should remember the first words and sentences that you hear.
And they must be construed by you as the answer is positive or negative.

Find out what in store for us the coming year may be using the other predictions.

Learn about their material well-being to help a divination, at midnight, pour a tablespoon of water and placed it on the frost setting so that water does not spread, and before you leave, and say the words: “Let there be pockets and cellars are full.”
In the morning look like frozen water, if flat or hump, the coming year will be profitable, but if a depression, then the profit can not count.

Will you work a lot in the coming year or a chance to “rest on our laurels,” you can find out if you take the onions and cut it, you’ll need a bit of peel, a few pieces of the bulb itself and its root.
All these parts lay on the mittens and hang them with thread, then tie the eyes, and your assistant should unleash you, saying: “Learn more, what will the year – a rich, empty, or have to work hard all year.”
Then this same person should take you to the mitten, and you tear one of them.
If within it will peel, then to any, even small changes in life you can not expect that, if it turns back, then you have to work hard, and the onions, then it foretells of wealth.

To tell fortunes in the future can be and in this way: at midnight, light a candle and pour a glass of water, whispered to her: “Tell me, water that would be me, with my family,” repeat the question thrice.
Then, the water type in a raw egg and return the glass in the oven, then turn it on low temperature glass does not move. As soon as notice that the protein is coiled, the glass can get, but on a figure which is derived from boiled eggs, you can define a future that awaits you in the coming year.
If you have something round, you can rejoice, because in front of you a happy event, square or rectangular – it is a disease; triangular – wait for housing developments; spiral – to quarrels.

But, dear ladies, usually more interested in something else, and that other concerns of the opposite sex.
Find out whether you are waiting for dating men?

To do this, before going to bed eat something salty, but do not drink the water, going to bed, do not forget to say: “Promised my disguised, come to me, give me to drink.
If you dream of a man, you can expect a new acquaintance.

If the divination foretell you meet with a man, then surely you can not wait to learn whether he will be your spouse?

And in case you need to pour water at midnight in the cup, where you want to add a bit of ash, salt and sugar, mix well.
As soon as the mixture “subsides, put in her hair, two: one its the other – lover, from whom, in your opinion, and should be followed by the alleged proposal of marriage.
If the hairs remain in the water next to each other, then you will be with this person, but if they also “interlace”, then wait for this moment you have little time, and if the liquid separated them, and they have grown apart, then, alas together you will not be.

You can not wait to find out who will be your other half?

Then you need to take the jars with water, number of bulbs, which will serve as candidates for your hand and heart (their should be just enough of how many men such a proposal could supposedly do).
Their names to call each of these bulblets, but before you send a regular onion head in a jar with water, poshepchite to water: “This vodichka for (name)”, etc. When all the potential “suitors” will be distributed in its jar, you just have to watch them, because whose name chive sprouts first, he will be her husband.

Your husband’s mistress appeared, and you certainly want to know: Does it go away any time soon?

Then it’s time to proceed to the next divination, for which you need to pour a glass of warm (not hot or cold) water to his left to put the candle.
Now you need a teaspoon of salt, dry bowl and a small sheet of paper on which you write the name of a rival, or simply “obzovete” her “lover-rival.”
Once completed all preparations, start own divination.
Light the paper sheet, and put it on a plate, let the fire. You’re in this time in a glass of water, send salt, stirring it, saying: “If the salt will melt faster, then my husband will not leave, and the paper will burn down – their love will burn.”
Do not forget to watch the paper and burn through the process of dissolution of salt, but if it is dissolved earlier than the paper will cease to fester, it can be sure your spouse will stay with you, leaving a lover.
Otherwise, that is, if the paper is burned to the ground rather than dissolve salt in water, then unfortunately you will not be together.
And remember that to this divination may be resorted to only when you are fully confident in the presence of the husband of another woman.

So, if you wish, you can use listed the Christmas predictions.

A person's name is very important.

The Yoruba people of Nigeria have a rich culture which is reflected in every aspect of their lives. Their naming system is not exempted. When a child is born, there is a naming ceremony on the seventh day. Some things have to be available for this naming ceremony. Things such as wine, honey, water, kolanut, palm oil, pepper. These things are used in praying for the child. The wine is poured so that the ancestors would bless the child, nobody hates water so they pray that he would be well liked by a lot of people. Salt is used to add flavour to food so the child’s life would be full of flavour, removing him from ordinary existence. Honey is sweet so he would enjoy the sweet things of life and would know no bitterness in his experiences in life. Pepper has a lot of seeds so would the child be fruitful. Palm oil is used for preservation so they pray that his life will be well preserved. Kolanut is eaten and spewed out so will evil be spewed out of the child’s life. Little of these items are put on the child’s lips and the name of the child is said out loud by everybody after which the main celebration starts with lots to eat and drink.

The Yoruba people do not give their children names just because it sounds good but because it is very meaningful. Some of their names are very long and they are teased for having names as long as sentences. An example is “Modupeoluwanifemi” Dupe for short. This name means I am grateful/ thankful that God loves me. ”They also give children names to tell you about the circumstances of their birth E.g “Morounmubo” or “Tokunbo” these names are given when a pregnant woman travels and in the cause of her travel, she gives birth. The name means she has found a precious gift to bring back home. “Fijabi” means there was strife when the child was born.

They believe in re-incarnation so they give names such as “Babatunde” This means father has returned. This is given if any of the child’s grandfathers is dead. “ Iyetunde” means mother has returned. They believe that a child’s name is very important so they are careful in choosing.
