The earth was initially a healthy and very comfortable place to live during the era of less technologies. Less combustion products and synthetic waste were available during that time. Therefore, the cycle of the earth were happening naturally with everything is according to the nature. All solid waste were bio-degradable and trees and forests were everywhere to provide oxygen and also food for the people.

Things have changes when modern technologies were discovered. Modern development have altered the natural cycle of the earth. Synthetic materials were introduced and some of the materials will never be degraded naturally and will stay as its compound for thousand years. Some of the materials even poisoned the nature and caused fatality to the living elements.

Take for example the use of plastic bag. Plastic bags are non-biodegradable materials which are used widely around the world. Used plastic bags normally would end up into the landfill and it takes more than a thousand years to degrade. If the plastic bags are exposed to heat, they have high potential to release some chemical gases which are poisonous to some elements on earth especially animals. Plastic bags can also endangered animal life.  About 100,000 animals such as dolphins, turtles whales, penguins are killed every year due to plastic bags. These animals mistakenly ate the plastic bags dumped into the water which looks like jellyfish to them.

Smoke from various sources contribute to the excess heat to the area close to the smoke source. This is called the green house effect. The phenomena happen due to excess level of carbon dioxide in the area. Carbon dioxide trapped heat from the sun on the surface of the earth. However, if there are enough green plants and trees in the area, the carbon dioxide can be turned into oxygen during the day through photosynthesis. But it is well known that in the area of manufacturing industry, there are very limited space to plant any trees as most of the spaces are used to build up the factory. 

There are more elements of pollution on earth of air, water and land. Clean water becomes dirty due to irresponsible actions by dumping waste into the river. Air becomes more and more polluted as more and more people drive vehicles fueled by hydrocarbon based fuel. And more pollutions going on as the time passed by.

So, what are our roles? We can actually help individually by promoting green effort to our family members and friends. For a distance of less than 1 km, it is better for us to just walk rather than drive. Use more non-woven bags for shopping than plastic bags. Save electricity by using it efficiently and by purchasing energy efficient appliances. They are more actions can be done as we go along with our daily activities. 

So, ACT NOW BEFORE EVERYTHING IS TO LATE. SAVE THE EARTH. SAVE THE NEXT GENERATION.

            Earth Day came to be known around the world in 1962 after a compilation of ideas came together from several people this generation would call “hippies.” Several events happened, then President Kennedy made some speeches and did some things, and finally Earth Day was born.

            There are little things everyday that you can do in your community that will help save the planet, like:

·        Buying a water canteen. This can help you save up to 365 bottles a year.

·        Instead of driving to a nearby location, why not ride a bike, skate, walk, or even take a bus. This can help you save gas and less CO2 pollution.

·        Donating all of your old clothes, electronics, and cans of food can help keep factory production down.

·        For big events like parties and festivals, try car-pooling with your friends. This is another way to save gas.

·        Once a week, take a bath. This can save up to 50 gallons of water a week.

·        Set up a recycling bin and a compost bin. In the recycling bin, dispose of plastics, paper, glass, and aluminum. In the compost bin, dispose of leftover food, lawn clippings, and dead plants.

·        Volunteer to help clean up your local highways. It not only makes the area beautiful, but it helps our pollution problem.

·        Change out your old light bulbs for compact fluorescent bulbs to help save energy. When you are not using these new lights, be sure to turn them off.

These are just some of the little things that you can do to help save your planet. It just takes a little bit of time, and dedication.

If the lights do not mean that you do nothing. Many exciting activities you can do with family or friends. Here are five things you can take pleasure in Earth Hour, as quoted in the old WWF Indonesia.

1. No friends and neighbors by inviting lights around the house for a party without light. Offer a snack at home. Sing, play guitar can make the game more exciting.

2. Meditation. If you establish a peaceful environment to enjoy Earth Hour, with a maximum. Turn off the lights, televisions, radios and telephones, and then do the meditation. to calm a tower in aromatherapy for the activities of meditation more.

3. Muscle relaxation bath with candles and relaxation created by immersion in warm candlelight. Couples can spend time together. This method is one of the most romantic ways to save power.

4. You can enjoy the night sky and enjoy the beauty of the sky at night. Spend the night in the courtyard to sit and watch the sky tonight.

5. Take pictures and video recordings, how did you and your friends and family for hours on earth tonight.

These global efforts to reduce CO2 emissions by 284 tonnes, saves about 284 trees and O2 to generate more than 568 people.

Now a days rapid construction showing us negative climatic and environment changes. Cutting of trees and city expand changing the local ecology.

As a city grows, its development shifts away the land usage from natural, biologically-diverse habitats to hardspace that is impervious and devoid of biodiversity. Development and construction processes are often destructive to the ecology around it. These activities sometimes encroach on productive agricultural land and sometimes open space. Stormwater runoff from developed areas can impact water quality in receiving waters, disrupt aqua life and hinder the navigation and recreation.

We can reduce the impact by taking the right approach and proper planning. We can identify the major ecological features of the vicinity including the site geology, vegetation, hydrology, wildlife and prior site history.

 We know we are at the verge of losing many species. Already we lost many one. This is the time to think and take some steps in so that we can give our children a happy life.

The lecturer impressed upon me the importance of recycling household waste, taking the time to be specific about which plastic items could be placed in the council provided bin. His suggestions to cut down on the use of cling film by using reusable, airtight containers was so obvious, it was embarrassing.

He also showed a great deal of passion when discussing the amount of water and electricity that was consumed using the waste disposal system. Instead he recommended the practice of composting. Worm farms and growing your own vegetables and fruit were also discussed – with the circle of sustainability emphasised.

I had not realised quite the impact of using plastic shopping bags instead of taking my own reusable bags when I make purchases, not only at the supermarket but at local stores. The speaker compelled me to check out my local streams to fully appreciate the impact of the disposal of non-biodegradable litter, impressing upon me the usefulness of picking up even one piece of litter a day from my street, thus preventing it from ending up in the waterways.

Such compelling arguments against the use of vehicles for short trips that could otherwise be walked or cycled, were hard to ignore. The money I could save as well as the health benefits of the exercise were as exciting as the knowledge that I would be reducing emissions as well as extending the life of the natural resources plundered to produce fuel.

I confess the talk left me with some feelings of guilt at my previous reckless attitude to these issues. I also have a renewed passion for caring for the planet – peppered with immense pride that my seven year old son knew so much about saving the planet and could speak with some much passion.

1. Conserve Energy.

This is one of the most important steps to saving the environment as we use tons of energy every day. Simple ways to conserve energy are: Turn off the lights when you leave a room. Clean out the lint filter in your dryer after every load to use less energy when drying. Wash clothes with warm or cold water instead of hot.

2. Reduce the Amount of Water Used Each Day

Water is essential for living. Tips for saving water include: Installing a low-flow shower head. Take shorter showers. (Just four minutes in the shower uses approximately 20 to 40 gallonsof water.) Do not let the faucet run when washing hands, vegetables, dishes, etc. Do not use the toilet to flush trash. (Flushing trash such as cigarette butts or even facial tissue wastes five to seven gallons of water.)

3. Create Less Trash

Reducing garbage and recycling decrease pollution, one of the main environmental issues. Here’s how to reduce amounts of trash: Avoid buying products with several layers of packaging. (About 33 percent of our garbage is packaging.) Use cloth napkins instead of paper. Buy used furniture, and recycle your own. Compost vegetable scraps. Use reusable containers to store food instead of throwing it away.

There are many other ways to save our environment, but these simple steps will get you started on the right path. Make these a part of your every day routine- mother nature will thank you in the long run.

Global warming indeed is one of the most vital issues facing mankind today. If we do not act responsibly and swiftly, the future generations can have alarming times coping up with life years later.

Today unrestrained industrialization, greed, expansion and setting up of more factories has affected nature slowly but surely and if this is how it will continue with little regard to greenery and conservation of species, we would have no life in a few decades. What our previous generations has done, our future generations will have to pay the price. In pursuit of wealth and acquisitions, what has been starkly forgotten that even Planet Earth has got a shelf life. And now we have suddenly woken up when the Earth has begun to creak and the signs have begun to show.  Rising sea levels and a generic rise in global temperature is slowly but surely leading us towards a global catastrophe and the world needs to come together to minimize the effects of this colossal damage.

There are talks already of the world coming to an end, movies are being made on the subject but the question to ponder is that have we with all our long history of intelligence and wisdom, all our intellect and thought, with all our awareness and knowledge come to this that we are foreseeing our own destruction, our own complete annihilation and we really cannot do anything about it. If we have reached a stage in history where we are seeing our own destruction, then all our intellectual evolution and the collective wisdom which we have acquired over ages has gone a sheer waste. What use after all is so much of development and efficiency, if we do not have the will required to combat the threat which looms over us menacingly?

Some environmentalists are considered to be a bit weird and strange, some environmentalists seem to be overly passionate about saving small corners of the natural world and through not taking into account the bigger picture, are regarded as being too obsessive. So a result, those who have some environmental concern are often tarred with the same brush. Environmentalism, that social movement that could save us from ourselves, has become demonised.

It is not just the fact that oil is running out that should concern us, the population of the planet is fit to reach a peak, possibly as soon as 2050 an then with possible population decline over that period. Taking into account that the forces that allow the population to grow include the national infrastructure, medical care, and a thriving economy, and that these things rely upon energy sources such as oil and natural gas, investment, even in a small way, in green energy such as solar, wind and carbon neutral biomass is essential.
If we haven’t as a species started to build a body of knowledge that is based on the use of green energies by the end of the first third of the 21st century, the whole human species could have some difficulties when the middle of the century comes. The peak of population could end up being tragic with a great deal of suffering world wide. So what are we, as the common man or woman in the western world, to do?

It would be incorrect to say that the common man and woman in the street has no say in the way that the world will become over the coming 40 years. These days and with the internet we have the potential through social networking to influence opinions, share knowledge and bring groups of people together. Bodies of knowledge are already being built very slowly. Channels on video websites are dedicated to making solar air and water heating panels in an affordable way. People are demonstrating the power of the solar oven in on-line video and, my special favourite, some people are learning how to extract gasses from wood and other biomass for the purposes of cooking outdoors, and with the same, or possibly lower cost than natural gas, going down to near zero cost for cooking energy.

Some people have even created gasifier devices that can be used to power internal combustion engines that can generate electricity for domestic heating, lighting and powering consumer durables or to replace petrol in their cars in a way that is carbon negative rather than carbon neutral. Still others have found ways to  extract gasses from water to assist in reducing their cars need for gasoline.

My point is that this knowledge has to be in the hands of the common man or woman like you. It has to be something that is passed on by word of mouth as a way of saving you from high energy bills and potentially needing to rely upon the energy grid at all. You can be a part of this. Right now, today! Participate in social networks, do some experimentation at home and publish your results on-line and add to the global knowledge that can be used to save us from ourselves.

Recycling helps the earth by reusing products. When you recycle you limit the amount of waste going into landfills. You also limit the amount of other products being made. Eco-friendly products limit the amount of fuel and energy used which prevents more fuel from being burned. Eco- friendly products could also use other sources of power such as solar power. Using renewable resources has many advantages. By using renewable resources you prevent pollution from being made. There are also many types of renewable resources. There is solar power, wind power, hydro power, biomass, and geothermal energy. Recycling, eco-friendly products, and renewable resources are all an important part of saving the earth.

Lets take a look at how you can go green with the gadgets that you might be using. If you have a cell phone, mp3 player or another small hand held technological gadgets consider what power sources your are using. Preferably batteries that can be recharged is always best. If you have a damage gadget you can now recycle many of them by taking them to a battery or computer recycle depot.

Other things like clothing and personal items such as books, cd’s, toys things like that can all be donated if in usable condition. Other wise these items can be recycled properly by your waste management provider.

Remembering to recycle and reuse make up container, shampoo and conditioner bottles, and personal products that you may use. And to further help the environment try using products that are made with natural products and recycled packaging. Every little bit helps.

I know it’s not cool to bring a lunch to school these days but if you do remember to use containers instead of plastic bags. And, always put your garbage in the correct bins at your school, home, mall or anywhere you are. Help reduce your garbage by encouraging compost use in your school and home, many farmers will gladly pick up compost for their animals or farms. Schools can also use it for a community or school garden, or perhaps the horticulture class could make good use of it.

There are so many products out their that are eco friendly, things like all natural clothes and furniture, natural food and cleaners, music and movies recorded on disk made from recycled plasitic. Avoid things like water bottles and pre-packaged foods, buy personal items in bulk to save on money and packaging. Ride a bike or bus, walk or car pool with friends to school, work and social gatherings.

Just remember to use the 3 R’s, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle…Turn off lights, Tv and computers when your not home and use natural products….Be happy, stay healthy and live more green
