Have you been noticing that you've been talking to yourself in public? Well then, read below!

Decide whether or not it is a problem. Only you can decide if it is a problem. If it is a serious problem, you may need therapy to determine what is causing it. Ask yourself these questions:

Is the first thing someone hears from me is me talking to myself?

Do people give me weird looks while I’m walking around?

Have my teachers ever recommended me to the school counselor?

Is me talking to myself such a big problem that I try to avoid public situations to prevent embarrassment?

Do I frequently feel concerned or guilty about how much I talk to myself?

Make conversations with people. Sometimes, the only reason you’re talking to yourself is that you have no one else to talk to. But if you make small talk with people frequently, then you should eventually stop talking to yourself.

Try to keep the conversation inside your head. As soon as you find you are talking to yourself outloud, shut your mouth closed. This way, the conversation should continue on in your head. Press your teeth down on your lips so you cannot open your mouth. This will help dramatically.

Cut down talking to yourself. Only allow yourself to do it while searching for keys, glasses, change, etc. But be careful with this step, because once you allow yourself to talk outloud, you might start talking to yourself at other times too. Have strict rules to limit your talking, and if you’ve followed them for a week, do something to reward yourself, i.e. watch a movie, buy candy, etc

Listen to music. When on you are on your own or walking somewhere, give your brain something to focus on instead of the subject you are talking to yourself about. If you are wearing headphones and realize you are talking to yourself, maybe people will think the headphones accessorize your cell phone. They will assume you are talking to someone else.

Please note that everyone talks to themselves for most of the day (internally) so you probably are no different than anyone else, you just happen to verbalize.

The use of college consultants to help students get into college has increased. Between the high selectivity rate of desired schools, busy family schedules, and over-burdened high school counselors, the industry is booming.

There are many reasons high school students and their parents are using a college consultant more and more these days. College consultants, or independent education consultants, can help guide students through the entire, complicated process of applying to and getting into college. Plus, the process has changed; it’s not the same as 15-20 years ago when many parents were applying to college. Colleges can be much more selective now, and students are encouraged to apply to many more of them. Plus, each school requires a fee, a college essay, and a different deadline to apply. Then, there are scholarships, financial aid paperwork, campus visits….who has the time to organize and keep track of all of that? A college consultant!

Many working parents are too busy to guide their student through this complicated process, plus junior and senior years are when most kids are trying to get a little independence from their parents. Mom nagging about those deadlines isn’t going to help family relations!

So how many students are now using college consultants to help them get into the college of their dreams? Different sources have different statistics, but most agree that about 5% to 10% of public high schoolers and up to 20% of private high school students use a college consultant in the Houston area.

“The college-consulting industry is booming. According to a recent study by Lipman Hearne, a marketing and communications firm, 26% of high-achieving students (defined as those with scores above 1150 on the 1600-scale SAT or an ACT composite score of 25 or higher) now hire a private consultant in their college-application process. “

The Independent Educational Consultants Association reports that membership has been growing at 20% every year.“The current economy has meant that school districts are increasing caseloads for school-based counselors,” Sklarow, the IECA director says. “We’ve heard from so many families who say the school counselor not only doesn’t know their child but there’s just not enough time for them to help.”

When you are looking to get into the television business, you might want to start right away. This article will tell you how to get started, even if you are under the legal age in your city.

Most colleges and schools have an age requirement. But to learn television, you probably just need to be fourteen, fifteen or sixteen years old. (Many producers there are older, but you can get your start while you are still in school).

Here is how to do it:

Go to your school and tell the guidance counselor or teacher that you would like to be an intern at one of the local studios and you would like to get high school or college credit for volunteering there. If your school has a program like this, your teacher or guidance counselor can give you all the information you need to begin your career while you are still in school.

Contact the studio that you are interested in working at and tell them that you are with the intern program at your school and that you would like to volunteer for some of their shows or to work behind the scenes.

You might need to get working papers. If this is the case, go to the building that issues these papers and you have your head start.

Once you have those papers, you are ready to go.

Follow the instructions that your teacher, guidance counselor or your television mentor gives you. That is how you begin in television, even if you are under age.

Now, if you are older, you can begin too. Tell the community access television organizer that you want to become a certified producer at their studio. Follow their instructions to be certified. Most times, you will have to attend a two-hour or more orientation, and then later you will have to prove your address and your identification. You, most likely will have to have a utility bill in your own name or have a notarized letter stating that you live at a particular address. The reason for all these rules is because at most community stations, you have to live in the community, in that local community in order to use their equipment and in order to become certified for any work inside the studio.

Annette Bednosky is a real life role model in the making.

She is a school counselor and a United States of America Track and Field (USATF) Trail Ultra marathon runner. I remember when I heard of her winning the Massanutten Mountain Trails 100 miler in Virginia. This is something considering she was never an athlete in high school or college. She writes a regular blog on Blogger. In it, she writes about her experiences in life, and school from the viewpoint of an ultra runner. She has been written about in Runners Magazines and has been on sports television.

Annette is not afraid to try something new. Why else would someone like her be willing to get into ultra running and put her heart into it, like everything else she does. In it she writes about many of her races, and she doesn’t win all of them, but she tries and she does win many of her races. She does what she needs to do, she prepares. She runs as many miles as she is able to fit in her day.

She is a girl who likes to give back, along with her husband, George Santucci. Very much in touch with nature, they try to give back to the community while working to better themselves. Annette does not need a lot to survive because she relies on herself. For the holiday, you will often find that the gifts she and her husband give are green. Homemade items such as jams and butters are made in their kitchen.

Annette Bednosky is a real life hero and role model. She works with her resources and works to help people and better herself. She is someone who can be relied upon because she doesn’t give up and she always gives back.
