Some prehistoric sea monsters.

The ocean can be a scary place when a sailor or fisherman is miles from shore. Sometimes they cannot help wonder what lurks in the depths below. Sea monsters can take many forms. Often they are said to be destroying ships and killing humans. Although there have been numerous sightings there is no credible evidence. It is currently believed that these creatures do not exist.

Probably the most horrifying legendary creature is the Kraken. It was suppose to have been a giant sea monster. This creature was huge, with many arms. Its arms could reach up to the top of a sailing ship’s main mast, when its arms were deployed.

When the Kraken would attack a ship, it would wrap its arms around the ship and capsize it. The crew would either be eaten by the Kraken or drown. Fishermen around Scandainavia noticed this creature the most.

Scylla is a monster that has six arms, six heads with four eyes on each. Then at the lower part of this monsters body is six beastly dogs, whose mouth contain razor-like teeth. Scylla is to approximately 15 feet tall.

Image via Wikipedia

This monster hides in caves at the bottom of cliffs. Scylla lets her head come out of the chasm, grabbing dolphins and humans that venture into its surroundings.

The Sirens are better known as Mermaids. They are half-woman and half-fish. The Sirens were believed to have lived on the island of, Anthemoessa. Huge boulders surround this island so if ships ventured too close they would be destroyed.

Aspidochelone is a fabled sea creature. It is described as a huge turtle, in fact it is suppose to be as large as an island. It rises from the sea and entices sailors to make landfall on its shell. Then it devours them.

After writing an article about the USA sea monster Champ Google Earth spots Nessie.

On August 26Th Google Earth got some strange images from the satellite. Apparently some security guard was looking around on Google Earth and found some unique images. His first thought was he had just discovered the famous Loch Ness Sea Monster.

For years now the legend of the Loch Ness Monster have been around but so has Google Earth. With their new street view being able to see a sneaker on the street and a drunk in the gutter people are wondering why it has taken so long for the monster to be spotted.

Is it really the Loch Ness monster or just a boat passing by? Google has decided to put some new cameras in Loch Ness to see if they can see more clearly and who knows maybe finally the mystery will be uncovered.

I will admit the images are interesting and strange but they also look a lot like other images Google has discovered of boats.

Other things people have been said to have found on Google Earth is the lost city of Atlantis but Google Earth popped their bubble when they said it was just sonar feedback.

The things we find that are unusual on google earth seem to be not what we think we are seeing. Are our eyes playing tricks on us? What good is this software then if the images portrayed end up being something completely different than what we think they are or are they just covering their tracks and keeping the secrets we all want to know.

These questions are for us to make our own judgements, but these images of this monstrous thing floating on the surface of Loch Ness makes us wonder.

Scotland has it's Nessie and the United States has Champ.

Image via Wikipedia

Scotland has its Nessie and we have Champ. It is believed to be living in Lake Champlain which borders New York and Vermont.

Champ was made famous back in 1977 when Sandra Mansi took the photo of the sea monster.

People dating back to Native American Indians have said they have seen this monster of the lake.

Lake Champlain is a very deep lake which does have access to the sea by the St. Lawrence Seaway.

The first sighting recorded took place when Samuel de Champlain came to the lake in July 1609. On his expedition he noted “a 20-foot serpent, with a horse-shaped head and body as thick as a keg.” Since then, sightings of the strange aquatic beast have been reported by over 300 people.

Image via Wikipedia

Dennis Hall found a 12 inch long lizard in the lake back on the 70’s. He took it to scientists in Vermont but somehow the reptile was lost. Hall was looking through a book and found a dinosaur that has been extinct for millions of years that looked exactly like the reptile he found.

Numerous photos have been taken of this sea monster but nothing can be explained or found in the lake by scientists.

In 2003 the Discovery channel put microphones in lake Champlain and recorded ticking or chirping sounds much like that of a whale, but those animals do not live in fresh water.

The lake is very large and very deep making it almost impossible to find anything, so for now those lucky enough to capture this creature while crossing over on the ferry or out there for a day of fishing may be the only link we have to Champs final discovery.

What are ghost ships and do they really exist?

A ship sets sail for a certain location. Some how the ship is found years later only to discover that the ship is sailing by itself, thus there is no one on board. The people just vanished, without a trace.

That is what the term ghost ship means. It all sounds too unrealistic? No… it’s true. Ghost ships do exist.

There have been many discoveries of ghost ships ever since ships were invented. But one of them stands out by itself.

The Mary Celeste

The Mary Celeste launched in 1860 under the name Amazon spent 10 years before it became: A Ghost Ship. During the incident, there were 11 people on board. After the incident, there were none.

The 11 people on board consisted of the following.

Captain: Benjamin Briggs

Wife: Benjamin Briggs’ wife

Child: A young daughter

Crew: A crew of eight

Total: 11 people

The Mary Celeste was found abandoned in the middle of the sea.

Food was found left out on the table ready to be eaten. There were plates set up on the tables. But nobody was there. The 11 people had vanished.

Research teams have boarded it but found no sign of aggressive violence. That rules out the possibility that it was taken over by pirates.

At that time, The Mary Celeste was carrying nine empty barrels. A lot of people think that barrels were used to carry rum, but they could also be carrying spirit (not the wine, but a flammable material). Experts think that the spirit might of leaked out of the barrels, forcing everyone to abandon the ship. They crew left on a small boat and starved to death. Meanwhile the ship was left floating in the middle of the sea.

But then again that is just a prediction. No one knows what happened during the incident. But one ting was certain.

It was a ghost ship.
