Terraria is a game roughly like Minecraft in which you create and Mine in a block pixelated world. It has been widely growing in popularity recently and I really wanted to supply everybody with it free. This is not my piracy I am merely supplying you with the place in which to get the Game for free. Its wonderful that this game is possible unlike Minecraft to be able to play for free. I hope I helped and thanks for reading!

Just a little information concerning your server and some restaurant etiquette.

First off, do you know that your waiter/waitress only makes $2.13 an hour? You didn’t? Well, now you do. We work for tips. We NEVER actually see a paycheck. It goes directly to the government and then at the end of the year we have to pay all of our remaining taxes. Please remember these things when you dine out. We have to make a living as well.

A few other items to remember when dining out are as follows (and these ARE just a few).

You ARE NOT the only person your server is attending to. Have a little patience. We know you are on your lunch break or have some other time constraint, and do our best to get you in and out. If you do not actually have time for a “sit down” dining experience, there are several fast food chains.

Every moment is crucial when serving. Every second spent with one guest takes away from another. Remember this when you are dining out. If you, for instance, tell your server you are ready to order and then continue to peruse the menu while they wait for your order, you have just taken time away from another guest. You need to remember this because you could be the other guest (and one that is in a hurry to get back to work). You must also consider other things you might do or request that are unnecessary. A fine example of something that takes away precious time (especially when the restaurant is busy), is asking for a half sweet half unsweet tea. Are you kidding me? Yes, we will get it for you with a smile but it is ridiculous. Get unsweet tea and some sweetener. Constantly refilling your half and half drink takes a lot of precious time.

One more MAJOR item! DO NOT PAY FOR A MEAL WITH A HUNDRED unless the total cost is $70 or more. We do not have some unlimited amount of change. Do you even know how long it takes to find change when someone pays for their $11 meal with a one hundred dollar bill? THINK PEOPLE!

There are many other items diners should be aware of, but these are some of the more crucial.

Going out to eat is a lot like a first date. It can be awkward, but with these tips in mind, you and your server are more likely to enjoy the experience.

First Impressions…

When you first sit down, your server is already sizing you up. Are you scowling or smiling? This is to be your partner in dining. Your server wants to find out off the bat if you will be pleasant to share this experience with or not. A suit and tie is not required for every type of dining establishment; but nice clothing that is free from odors that don’t mingle well with food or gaping holes in unmentionable places is always appreciated.

Listen

Most establishments require a certain little greeting which includes options to upsell every item on the menu. Be kind to your server and listen to him/her. Not only is it very rude to cut people off; it can ruin the routine in which your server is used to following. It can affect his/her job if the manager is close by. Not to mention that you will learn important information in this initial spiel. Your server’s name. The type of soda that is offered at that establishment. Daily food or drink specials. If you listen, this will prevent you from asking unneccessary questions. There is nothing more irritating than answering questions about what you have just explained.

You should also make sure that you are not on a cell phone talking, texting or gaming, or social networking while placing your order. This is very uncomfortable for your server. If your server has a question for you, he/she has to interrupt your conversation and then possibly might get your order wrong. Sometimes a server won’t even acknowledge your order if you are not looking at them.

Communicate with Professionalism

Snapping your fingers, whistling or yelling across the dining room is behavior that should be reserved for the family pet, not your server. Your server most likely told you his/her name in the initial greeting you should have listened to. If you have forgotten, there are the options of Miss, Ma’am, and Sir to accomodate you.

Using the same manners you expect from your children, such as; “Please,” “Thank You”, and “Excuse me” will carry your experience along with great pleasure. Servers appreciate to be appreciated. There are plenty of people in the world that are demanding and overbearing. Including spouses, bosses and parents. Those simple little words will grab the attention of your partner in dining and expect to have a pleasant experience.

If you are unhappy with the food or service at any time during your visit, notify your server first. Give them the opportunity to do the right thing for you. If you must get the manager; do so discreetly and without screaming at your server.

Tip Accordingly

With the exception of liquor (it’s not taxed) the best way to judge a tip is by doubling your tax. Most servers make under minimum wage as their tips are considered enough to make up for the hourly wage loss. There are servers in certain states that make minimum wage. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that all servers pay a percentage of their sales to their coworkers in the restaurant; such as the hosts, bartenders and bussers. Some servers participate in complicated tip shares with their coworkers. This means it is important to make sure that you pay attention to your total bill. If your bill is $100.00, you should be tipping 15-17 dollars. If your server impressed you and you all had a good dining experience, add a few more dollars. Servers are a rare breed of people and to them, the few extra bucks is a huge ego boost, and they will remember you the next time you come in.

Working as a waitress at the restaurant, I can give you some tips how to get the best service and become a welcomed regular customer of your favorite restaurant:

1. When a server comes up to your table, don’t ignore the fact that he is standing there. He is not your servant, but your server and cannot wait for ages for you to pay attention to him. And there is a 99% chance that the server has many other things to do at that very moment in time. Put your conversation on hold for a minute and have a little respect.

2. If the server asks if you are ready to order or if you need a few more minutes, tell the truth. If you can’t decide between two dishes, just say that you need more time. Don’t do that trick where you tell everyone else to order first, and by the time the server gets to you you’ll be ready. It never works. It’s better to tell the truth than make the server standing there with a fake smile plastered on his face and make you feel uncomfortable and being hurried up.

3. Don’t be arrogant or rude to your server. He might have degree and be just between his professional jobs making some money to pay his bills, which is actually doesn’t matter because serving can be a life carrier too. Once I was served by a waitress, a woman in her middle 40s, who had the badge “Serving more than 20 years”, which told me that the woman was proud to be dedicated to her profession. Be friendly and smile, and you will get smile in response and benefit from the great service.

4. Do not come later than an hour before the restaurant is closed. If there are only a couple of guests in the restaurant, servers want to go home and begin doing their side work and kitchen workers begin cleaning kitchen. Now challenge your imagination and think how we want to serve you and cook your food at this late hour.

5. Do not keep the table after you paid your check. It’s very rude to stay and chat for 20-30 minutes after you paid your bill. Of course, the waiter cannot ask you to leave, but just imagine what he thinks about you when you are taking money out of his pocket in that way.

6. Do not eat out on holidays like Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, when restaurants are crowded and servers are harried. Are you sure that you want to wait for a table for 30-40 minutes? It’s annoying, isn’t it?

7. Do not talk and/or laugh loud – respect people at the next table: they didn’t come to the restaurant to listen to all details of your conversation. And the waiter is not supposed to raise his voice trying to tell other guests about specialties and take their order.

8. And the last one – tip well! If you enjoy food and service, why not to tip 20%? Cutting on your tip – you are cutting on the waiter’s income.

I hope my observations will help you make your dining out experience better and more enjoyable.

A guide for all waiters out there, follow these simple steps and watch your wallet grow!

Ever feel like you worked hard waiting tables with little compensation? Maybe it isn’t the customers, maybe it’s you…

Image via Wikipedia

Smile: Even if you don’t feel like it, smile. This is one of the easiest ways to increase your tip. There will be plenty of time to mope around when your shift ends.

Repeat Orders Back to Customer: This is a good way to ensure that people get the food that they ordered, restaurants can be loud and the clarification is useful in avoiding costly mishaps.

Keep Chit-Chat Out of Earshot: Waiting tables can be a stressful job, but don’t let your customers know that.

Eye Contact: This is always important at your place of work, making eye contact tells your customer that they have your full attention.

Don’t Be Too Fast: Fast is usually the name of the game when it comes to waiting tables, but there is such a thing as being too fast. Customers can be annoyed when their dinner comes out moments after their appetizer did.

Don’t Ask If the Customer Needs Change: If your table pays with cash, simply don’t ask if they need change or not. Many find this presumptuous and it will most likely result in a lower tip.

Refill Drinks: This is a good way to show the customers that you are taking care of them; keep their glasses full and they will thank you for it.

Run Your Own Food: Whenever possible, try to personally bring the food to your tables. People are inclined to tip you less when they believe everyone else did your work for you.

Wait Until Your Table Requests the Check To Bring It: Doing so before they have requested says to your customer, “Are you done yet? We think you should be, time for you to go!”

Many customers might want to order coffee, dessert, or even alcoholic drinks after they finish their meals. Tips go up as the check does.

A simple guide to fully enjoy your meal without spending too much.

Food… one of the most important necessity in life. People need to eat to survive, may it be only once a day or as much as 7 times depending on the person’s appetite. Some prefer to have their meals prepared at home or others love to dine out. Almost everybody wants their food to be prepared the right way and be served straight to their tables. Everything seems perfect, the atmosphere, the service, and the quality of the food but when the bill arrives people tend to forget about everything and start double checking the prices listed on that small printer paper and get shocked at how expensive that bottle of water is or the piece of meat you just ate. Customers start to complain and try to get a complimentary dinner for doing it. Somehow it helps but the benefit is for one time use only. Think as well the impression complainants have left in the restaurant. The next time they come back, guaranteed no more complimentary as per management. So how can you get freebies without losing your reputation and still enjoy dining in that food establishment?

Your target: the restaurant server or the whole staff if you are a pro

It all starts with character. Yes, the right personality. This is the time you apply grandma’s lessons and be rewarded by doing it. Respect goes a long way and they will love you for doing it. As per Matin Luther King, everybody should be equal and this should be applied when you are dining in the restaurant. The restaurant server is not your servant and should not be treated as one. These people can read your personality the moment you step in their establishment so behave.

Treat the servers like your best buddy. Talk to them and make a connection. They are stressed out just by serving you, it’s your time to entertain and make them feel special.

Tell the servers what you want, what you need and whatever request you got in your head the moment the order is being taken. This avoids trips to your table and making the server feel annoyed by doing so. You are not the only customer that needs service remember that.

Eat properly. Nobody wants to clean up your own mess. Maintaining your table neat with utensils in proper place earns you respect from the one serving you as it makes his job more easy to do plus it shows that you have table manners and etiquette.

Don’t call the server with your fingers clicking or your hands waving come here or saying “psst”. Put yourself in their shoes and you’ll find out how nasty it feels to be called like a dog.

Don’t be too nice by pouring your own water or your own wine or getting whatever you need from the server’s station. When the manager sees this it will give the impression that the employee is not performing well thus will affect the performance appraisal of the server. Ask and it will be given. If it is taking too long to be given, call the manager.

When all of these simple steps are performed well, when the bill arrives, you will not be surprised again at how expensive your meal was but at how cheap it became because the server had taken out the bottles of water you consumed and the dessert that was suggested to you. The next time you return to that restaurant, the staff will acknowledge your presence and you will be treated as a very important person. Not only will the water be complimentary but also the whole meal if you become a regular in the restaurant. Don’t forget to leave an extra tip. It’s not important how much you left, it’s the gesture of saying thank you for the service that matters most.

The most important principles one should adhere to in order to do the job well and make the most money possible in the process.

In my life, I have had many jobs. There is one job, however, that I have turned to again and again when I needed money quickly. This job is waiting tables. Waiting tables, if you’re good at it, is an easy job that yields you cash-in-pocket on a daily basis.

At first blush, many people would think of this job as menial or beneath them. Some people might even think, “What’s so hard about taking orders?” Becoming a good server takes time and practice. Many people cannot deal with the pressure that is ever-present in the food service industry. Organization and time management are essential factors in perfecting the art of waiting tables.

This being said, if you are one of those people who can handle the pressure, stay calm and organized, and keep a positive attitude through it all, then by all means wait tables. It is the blue-collar job of the twenty-first century. There are a few things you need to know, however, to be a good server or waitperson. The following is a list of six things you need to know to be a great server, in no particular order.

Know Your Menu

Chances are if you work at a reputable establishment, you must know the menu inside and out before ever even hitting the floor. Not knowing the menu is the death-blow to your rapport with your tables. Sure, some people can charm their way out of this situation, but it is always better to be proactive. Knowing the ingredients of an item and what it comes with is your job, and it’s not rocket science. If you have to return to your table to ask those questions you should have asked on the first go-round, you have diminished your customers’ faith in you, which could definitely harm your tip.

Learn to Read People

In general, people are easy to read. If you walk up to a table and the customers don’t even pause their conversation to look at you, you know right away that they don’t want to be bothered. Get them what they ask for and don’t interrupt unless you absolutely have to; be attentive, not intrusive. Get refills before they ask, etc. Let them know your name up front and ask them to let you know when they need anything.

There are also people who are in a rush, people who have had a bad day, or people who want to relax and take their time. Dealing with these different types of people and situations in a consistent and professional manner will help your tips grow.

If someone is in a rush and starts telling you what they want as soon as you approach the table, take their order, smile, and reassure them that you realize they are in a hurry and that you will do your best to get them what they need in a timely fashion. Additionally, have their check ready for them as soon as you drop off their food. Let them know that if they want anything else, you can definitely modify the check as needed.

On the other hand, if you have people that want to relax, don’t rush them! Put the ball in their court and let them know you’ll be around when they need you. Tell them to simply get your attention when they need something. Always smile.

Stay Calm and Positive

As easy as it is to read people, it is equally easy for them to read your mood as well. Do your very best to project a calm and pleasant attitude. You don’t have to overact or be a fake, because that is just as obvious to people as a bad attitude.

Panic is contagious. If you are slammed (very busy) and in the weeds (overwhelmed), it can be difficult to approach a table calmly, knowing everything you have to do when you get back to the kitchen. However, projecting a calm attitude will go a long way in reassuring your customers that they will receive good service.

Perception is key when it comes to customer service. If a customer thinks something is going wrong, it is going wrong-no matter what you do to earn their trust. It is of paramount importance that you stay calm in their eyes no matter what. No running around, making excuses, or apologizing unnecessarily. All of these things convey a lack of confidence and a sense of ineptitude. If they feel this way, chances are your tips will go down. Basically, staying calm and positive in the customers’ eyes will help ensure that you receive good tips for your hard work.

Know When to Ask For Help: Be a Team Player

Nobody is perfect and nobody is a machine. No matter how good you think you are, there are times when you need help. You have a lot of things on your plate when waiting tables, no pun intended. Asking your co-workers for help fosters an environment of teamwork, which is most definitely necessary in the foodservice industry.

Many corporate restaurants have requirements for teamwork, such as FIFO (full hands in, full hands out). Policies will vary from restaurant to restaurant. However, being a team player at all times also earns recognition from management, which can get you better shifts and, in turn, more money. Fill the ice bin, run food, take out the trash, make drinks for your fellow employees when they’re busy. Do what you can, when you can. Everyone will appreciate it, and your shift will go by more quickly if you keep yourself busy.

Keep The End In Sight

A busy shift at a restaurant can be overwhelming and draining, if you let that happen to yourself. Some days will no doubt be better than others, but many restaurants have employees that never seem to want to work or be busy. Keep the end result in mind: If you are busy, you are making money. And, if you are practicing the other principles listed above, you are probably making good money.

Everything in a restaurant is temporary. The food is there, then gone. The same goes for the customers in your section, the mess on the floor, or the time you feel overwhelmed. Don’t let it get to you. If you have a table that is being rude to you, just shrug it off, smile, and know they’ll be gone soon. When you are slammed and in the weeds, just remember that it will all be over in a little while, and that at the end of it all, you’ll have a bit more money in your pocket.

Closing Out

Waiting tables isn’t always going to be easy, but it can become easier the more you practice the principles outlined in this article. Practicing these things during each shift will get you closer to becoming a professional waiter that sees one-hundred plus dollars each and every shift. Then, you’ll have more time and money to do the things that you really want to do. Remember, waiters work while others play.

The internet is down! Here are some suggestions what you can do.

Are you kidding? The internet is down? Alright then, here are some suggestions, if you are at home.

Check the connection behind the computer. Maybe the vigorous dusting around the back has dislodged the connection.

Call a friend and check if they have connection at their computer, could be that the problem is only at your computer

Wait a couple of minutes before trying to log in again, the server could be busy

Write an article, whilst waiting

Make yourself a cup of coffee or tea and catch up with your morning news on the television

Listen to the radio – get some inspiration and you can dance to the music too

Check the computer again. Internet still down? Pick up the remote and turn on the air-conditioning. Pick up a puzzle you’ve not completed and continue with it.

Bake a cake or a pie. Don’t know how to cook? Now is a good time to learn.

Go down to the shop and pick up a few things to make a different kind of sandwich for dinner

Check the computer again. Internet still down? Write another article, make it a long one.

Go for a bicycle ride round the park. Can’t find the bicycle? Never mind, go for a walk, bring the dog out for a walk as well.

See your neighbour outside? Go and chat with him, find out something new

Go for a movie. If you can, try to get some friends to go along with you. After that movie, you can go have a snack before heading for home.

Pick up the phone and call a friend or a couple of friends and chat with them

Got children? Do some art and craft with them. Older children? Find out the latest buzz in their school.

Clean the house (again!), who knows maybe after this round of cleaning, you might jiggle the connection again, and you can get connected

Go down to the store and get a book on sudoku puzzles

Take a nap

Check the computer again. Internet still down? Write an article entitled “What to do when the internet is down” so that when you get connected you can post 3 articles or more, depends on your output.

Take a rest and try again tomorrow

A guide for dealing with one of the worst jobs out there.

Many people say, “It’s not hard to be a server, I could do it no problem.” What they don’t know is, many factors play a big role in being good at serving people.

Smile

No matter how mad one of your customers make you, always smile. My last employer told me something to help me keep the smile on my face no matter what. She told me that if my smile was disappearing count to four. After each number you count take a deep breath and your smile will return.

Their was a catch to this technique, as you count you find flaws on the person you are waiting on. For example, maybe a lady you are waiting on has nose hair. After you find that flaw, you debate on whether that’s the reason they are so mean. Next, you tell yourself, “I’m a good waitress, you’re bitter, you have nose hair but I think I still like you. I no longer use this technique.

Be Polite

Sometimes you get some of the nicest people possible. Maybe they have done this type of work and they understand how hard it is. Yet at other times you have to wait on some of the rudest people you will ever meet. In one example, I always waited on an eighty year old man who was so callous. He was made at the world all the time, and took it out on anybody he talked to.

He would come into Golden Girls everyday, and I would always wait on him. He always wanted ham, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, and whole milk. Everyday I would tell him, “Sir, we do not have whole milk, we only have 2 % milk.” Everyday he would commence to cussing at me. I would always smile and ask, “Would you like 2% milk or would you prefer something else to drink?” He would cuss some more then order water.

I never disrespected him, and I was always polite to him. The one day he decided to take the Lord’s name in vain, I politely told him I did not appreciate him using the Lord’s name in vain, and that if he did it again I would not wait on him.

Most people could not handle having to be polite in situations like that. You want to scream at them and tell them your job is hard enough without situations like that, but you can’t. You have to keep your composer in the toughest situations.

Give Great Service

Though there are many people out there that never have any problems with you, there are others that just don’t like you. As bad as that sounds many people come in with intentions of making your day as horrible as possible.

Just like the man that came in everyday, people come in just to complain. Lots of people try to get free meals. Others think if they complain enough they can get someone fired. Some of these customers need to take their anger out on someone. They don’t know who you are, they might never see you again, why not take it out on you (the server).

No matter the situation or the callousness of the customers, you always smile when you give them their food. You always ask if they need anything else. You always come back to check on them. These people who say serving is a piece of cake, would probably throw their food on the table and never go back.

Servers that are good at their job overlook these situations, and try to serve the customers with the best attitude possible. Servers sometimes have the best personalities ever, on the other hand some servers let these customers get to them. Most servers with a negative attitude do not keep their jobs for long. Because you know what they say, “The customers always right.”

Are you a server? Most of the time hourly wages just don't cut it. Heres some tips for making better tips.

I became a server on July 5th of 2006. I was practically shoved into the job by my boyfriend, who at the time was a cook at a small country restaurant. I went and applied and had my interview the same day. I was very shy, and nervous because of course this was not only my first job, but I would have to be social?!? Me? I was 17 years old and still couldn’t order my own food at a restaurant. But I needed a job and figured it would either work out or it wouldn’t and there was no harm in trying. I was to be trained by a woman with 27 years experience. She told me to follow her around for a while and after doing that for about 20 minutes she pointed at a man sitting alone at a table and said “There you go.” I of course got his order and brought him a cup of coffee. After turning in the ticket and delivering the food, I never returned to the table. I didn’t get tipped. While all of the other waitresses were making $70-$120 a day I was making about twenty bucks.

It took a long time for me to get the hang of it but eventually I realized that in most cases your going to make what you put in. Here are a few things that I have learned along the way. Maybe you can catch on quicker than I did.

Suggestions For Better Tips

Make Small Talk – For example the weather.

Never serve food that you wouldn’t eat.

Stay on top of refills. Don’t make your customers go hungry.

Always introduce yourself, that way they know your name and can ask for you next time.

Pre-bus your tables, nobody enjoy’s staring at dirty plates.

Always talk to the kids, buy some crayons and hand them out to the children.

Recommend food that you sell a lot of.

When they order say things like “good choice,” or “I love the meatloaf.”

Try to imagine yourself in their shoes, do what you would expect to be done.

Compliment there attire. example: “I love that hand-bag where did you get it?”

Know the food better than the cooks, they will ask you questions and they expect answers.

Accommodate them to the best of your ability.

Unless it’s something completely unheard of never make them ask for anything, if they order French fries make sure you bring ketchup ect.

Smile and be outgoing even if it’s not your regular mood. People can tell when your having a bad day so put on a front.
