Many myths can inhibit sexual pleasure. By understanding these myths, you will learn to explore your own sexuality and your partner. You can also learn how to be a good lover.

Many myths have a religious basis. While others believe that sex is only for procreation (get descent). Also many are not aware of a person affected by the negative impression about sex that is drilled to him since they were children. Is one of these myths bother you?

Sex is dirty. People who do not use the term ‘dirty’ sexual pleasure was often regarded as something shameful.

Sex should be natural and spontaneous. The view that sex education does not require a cause of men and women believe that there is something wrong if they want to learn new techniques and find better ways to give and receive pleasure.

Same sex intercourse. In the West, oral and manual stimulation called ‘foreplay’ and not sex unless the penis is inserted into the vagina. This narrow view of sexuality that many couples stop having sex at the point where intercourse is not possible.

Sex is the responsibility of man. Many women expect men to ask her out,, looking for more money, and take responsibility to initiate sex and give her an orgasm. Thought it was very limiting men and women.

Men are always ready and wanted sex. The man was never expected to say ‘no’ or never left not in the mood when dealing with women. And of course women can not show warmth or interest unless he wanted sex because men are not able to control himself.

Sex requires an erection. A man can give and receive pleasure without getting an erection. Sexual intercourse can be done in a semi-erection.

Sex should end up with the orgasm. Most women do not lie when they say to enjoy the romance, although not reaching orgasm. As men get older, they also can make love without having to reach orgasm or ejaculation.

The woman who enjoys sex is promiscuous. The public does not trust the woman who enjoys sex. They will be called a ’slut’ while women are not interested in sex or difficult to reach orgasm is seen as ‘women’s cold as snow’.

Everybody knows about sex, everyone knows what's up with the orgasm, and if you ask a question in the circle of friends, you will definitely get a dozen tips "approved" to improve your love life.

Everybody knows about sex, everyone knows what’s up with the orgasm, and if you ask a question in the circle of friends, you will definitely get a dozen tips “approved” to improve your love life.

Our experts point out that many of the truths we know about orgasms are actually nothing more than mere myths. Sari Locker, in his book “Sex. How to be better”, explains more. Here, punctual, a few myths:

Myth # 1: Sex is not satisfactory if not completed by an orgasm.

Fact: Sex is fun when you feel that is fun, regardless of orgasm.

Myth # 2: More orgasms are better than one.

Truth: The intensity of pleasure is not related to the number of orgasms. Sex without orgasm can be more satisfying than sex with orgasm, and a single intense orgasm can be more satisfying than one after another.

Myth # 3: If a man is aroused, you must have an orgasm.

Fact: There is nothing wrong for a man to become excited, and then not reach orgasm.

Myth 4: Men can not have multiple orgasms during sexual intercourse.

Fact: Men can have multiple orgasms every time relatively small, especially when they are young.

It is almost impossible to live in today's society without thinking of sex, but this also implies having some misconceptions about it.Because mostly of our sexual behavior is learned throughout life,it is important to understand what information we actually recieve in order not to be disappointed later.

Making love = sex

For most people the terms are equal. In fact, making love means both the emotional and physical interaction with someone you care. Making sex is just the physical interaction. This myth is one of the most important causes of sexual unfulfillment and being able to understand the difference on these 2 terms is very important if you want a pleasant sexual life with your partner.

As you get older, you lose interest in sex

You’re never too old to be interested in sex. In favorable circumstances, age has a modest effect on libido. People often blame the effects of aging because it is more convenient for them, but not always true. The tragic thing is that if you really believe this will happen,it will.Better not to worry about age and enjoy life!

Marriage ensures happiness and sexual fulfillment

Being married doesn’t mean that everything is set for the rest of your life and you will live the life of a prince or princess.Marriage is hard and tough,it implies a lot of pressure, concerns and conflicts. If you expect things to happen without doing anything, you’re hoping in vain. You have to love, care for and discover your partner day by day.

Men are responsible for what happens during sex

“If he’d really love me,he would know what I like and what I need during sex.” Men and women are equal, both in general and in terms of sex and sex have the same rights and responsibilities. There is no reason for man to feel responsible for everything that happens during the sexual intercourse. The responsibility has to be shared between both partners.

Do you ever find yourself wondering if your sex life is normal?

Do you equate frequency with being normal? Do you compare your sex life with your friends’? If yes don’t worry you are not alone! A lot us sometimes fret needlessly about our sex-lives and sex-drives, thanks to the numerous myths about sex. The following are some of the most common ones:

Myth 1: I should have sex after dinner.

Fact: It is in fact perfectly normal to want to sleep after a fulfilling meal. Good food can in fact kill your sex-drive and make you sleepy. It’s actually better to have sex BEFORE you set out for a romantic meal!

Myth 2: It’s not normal if you (women) don’t have an orgasm during intercourse.

Fact: What’s more important than an orgasm is how much pleasure you give each other? You may have enjoyed the fore-play but may still not have an orgasm, don’t worry, it’s normal and ok! In fact, according to some recent research studies most women don’t have an orgasm during intercourse, but it doesn’t mean they don’t enjoy it!

Myth 3: Men always want sex.

Fact: Unless you are having some sort of sex addition, this one is completely untrue! Just like women men may not always be in the mood to have sex. In fact this myth is responsible for men’s performance anxiety and sometimes erection trouble as well. It’s because men believe that it’s normal to always want sex and they worry about their being normal, when they don’t want sex!

Myth 4: It’s not normal to be interested in sex after a certain age.

Fact: False again! It’s biologically and psychologically normal to be interested in sex till the end of your life, for as long as your “equipment” is still functioning!

Myth 5: It’s normal for women to lose their sex-drive after menopause.

Fact: The truth is far from it! Many women actually continue to enjoy sex more after menopause, perhaps even more so since they no longer have to worry about getting pregnant. Also thanks to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) many women aren’t plagued with the low sex drive and vaginal dryness often associated with menopause.

Myth 6: You must have sex at least 3 times a week.

Fact: As long as you are both satisfied with the frequency, even if you have sex once in two weeks, it’s normal! Don’t put too much stress on quantity as long as you are both happy with your sex life. If you are not then you will have to talk it out with your partner and figure out the reason for his/her lack of sexual interest.

Finally, good, hot sex is what makes you and your partner happy, everything else is a myth!

Sex, Exposed: The Myths and The Facts

This article is to shed some light on a subject some like to keep in the dark: sex. It is much easier for some people, me included, to read articles and magazines than to talk to a professional about the natural, yet sometimes embarrassing subject. By reading this, you will learn facts, myths, and hopefully the answers to some of the questions you may have.

The average penis is five to six inches erect, and three to four inches soft

Although there have been reports of success, the penis pump does not increase the size of the male genetalia. The pills, pumps, or any other method of penile enlargement have not been proven to work

Yellow Number 5, an ingredient in Mountain Dew and other food and beverages will not lower sperm count

It is a myth that If a girl’s hymen is broken, torn, or missing, she is not a virgin, or If a girl doesn’t bleed during sex, she is not a virgin. Some women are born without hymen. It is very sensitive and easily torn, which means that it can be torn prior to a women’s “first time.”.

Yes, you can get a sexually transmitted disease from oral and anal sex

It is much more difficult for a male to have multi-orgasms than the women. In almost every case, the male can not have multiple orgasms.

“Blue balls” is a real condition. It is not harmful to a man, but it probably will piss him off!!!

By losing weight, the penis will not get bigger, but it may appear larger

Women can get pregnant even if the man does not come, or if he pulls out

Women can get pregnant while they are on their periods. It is less common, but it can happen, especially in teenage years or if the woman has irregular periods.

Women can get pregnant their first time

You can get pregnant from having sex in a standing position

No form of birth control is 100 percent effective

It can take birth control pills up to two weeks to get fully into a woman’s system, so be sure to use a backup method for the first few weeks

Yes, men, some women do like porn. Don’t get too happy, because some women find it offensive or think they aren’t good enough if you constantly want to watch another naked woman. It is best to talk to your woman and you never know what wild side she may have!

Antibiotics and some other medications can counteract or interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills

Emergency contraceptives can be used if the guy “forgets” to pull out or if the condom busts. This “morning after pill” must be taken within 72 hours from the incident

It is okay to have sex during pregnancy. Every woman/couple are different, so just to be safe, talk to the doctor. Some people say the sex is better while pregnant.

Can a woman get pregnant from anal sex? The answer is actually yes; although there may be no vaginal penetration, some of the sperm may dribble and make its way to the vagina.

Using a douche directly after sex will not prevent pregnancy. Actually the douche can push the sperm further up and make it easier to get pregnant.

Urinating before and after sex eliminates some of the bacteria that could cause vaginal infection

Condoms will not prevent against all STD’s

It is normal for one of a woman’s breasts to be larger than the other

Urinating after sex will not help to prevent pregnancy

It is a myth that a virgin will not have an orgasm

You can get pregnant in a pool, shower, bath, etc. It is a myth, however, that if a guy cums in the water that a woman is in or gets in will not get her pregnant. Sperm will not survive in water for very long. If there is penetration or touching of the penis in the vaginal area the female can get pregnant.

Urban legends, aren’t they great? We all appreciate a good story, especially when it comes to sex.

In a British study encompassing 59 countries, a number of leading sex myths were finally shattered, including: “Married couples avoid having sex” and “Promiscuity advances STD’s”.

The researchers claimed that they were very surprised with the results: “We expected to find promiscuity in STD’s prone areas such as Africa, but the fact is that having multiple sex partners is an exclusively western tendency and still, in spite of this factor, STD’s rate is considerably lower.”

Are you raising a teenager? Stressing over the “Age of Consent”? Don’t loose sleep, the study shows that the age of “The 1st Time” hasn’t changed in the last decade and still levels around 15-19, with women overtaking men in their age bracket.

Obviously, the age of first sexual encounter varies and highly influenced culturally, hence, in England it will be at 16.5 for boys and 17.5 for girls, while in Indonesia women lose their virginity at 18.5 and men not sooner than 24.5!

Decided to tie the knot? Studies show that married couples are having sex much more frequently than their single friends, in the same age bracket. Another interesting piece of data shows that western females share a similar number of sexual partners with their male counterparts, hence, Australian, American, French and British people had an average number of 5 partners throughout their single lives regardless of gender. Cultural influence emerges here as well and thus men residing in Kenya or Haiti enjoy multiple sexual partners while women settle for one.

10 Myths That Will Live Forever:

There’s No Risk Of Conception From Creative Sex Positions (Excluding Missionary Position)

Truth: The sperm is an Olympic swimmer with only one goal- to find the “most attractive” egg and fertilize it. A sperm can swim in any direction so this method should definitely not be used as birth control.

Intimate Wash is a Good Way to Fight Infection

Truth: 20%-40% of the female population uses intimate washes. The vagina is very different from other parts of the body and has its own cleaning mechanism that also maintains a balanced PH. Using intimate washes interferes with this delicate balance and thus “promotes” infections.

Coitus Interruptus is a Safe Contraceptive Choice

Truth: The exotic term – coitus interruptus, AKA withdrawal or the pull out method. Men produce a pre-ejaculatory fluid at any stage during intercourse which could be a wonderful fertilizer as well. Be aware!

Herpes is Contagious Only During Outbreaks

Truth: The herpes virus is mostly contagious when there are visible symptoms of an outbreak, but also in the viral shedding period, thus, a condom should be used for maximum protection.

Sex Toys Are Addictive

Truth: This one has to be the top “male conspiracy” aiming to defeat any source of female orgasm enabler… in fact, if a women uses a stimulator regularly, she can reach a lower threshold by either using it as a “sidekick” during intercourse, or by taking a short break of use. It takes two, baby…

Lubrication is Unnecessary

Truth: Vaginal fluids are influenced by: menstrual cycle, pregnancy, age, medication, etc’ and thus the use of lubricants is highly recommended regardless of a woman’s state. Lubricants should be water based only!

Size Matters

Truth: Probably the oldest myth in the book… a recent survey reveals that women tend to complain about excess size than the lacking of it…

Masturbation is Negative and Might Be Addictive

Truth: Yes, it makes you blind too… masturbation is positive, it allows you to explore your sexuality ,whether you are a male, female, single, married ,young or older.

Women Can Reach An Orgasm From Intercourse Solely

Truth: Just about 80% of women are unable to reach “the promised land” by vaginal stimulation alone. The clitoris isn’t a tiny door bell that you ring before you enter; its stimulation is a vital step in the search of female sexual bliss.

The G-Spot is a Myth…

Truth: The G spot is small and sensitive, the size of a quarter but worth millions…it’s a mass of nerve tissue behind the clitoris located on the other side of the pubic bone around the upper wall of the vagina. It becomes engorged and can be felt only when a woman is highly stimulated and close to an orgasm.
