As the climate continued to change and people no longer had to migrate, the need for portable tents was not so great. The weather was warmer and the new forest provided plenty of material for making shelters quickly and easily. It was not necessary to drag poles and skin around, as hunters could cut wood and make shelters wherever they happened to stop. Make tents from skins had meant that hunters had to kill large animals, and there were fewer such animals about at this time.
