Diabetic Snacking On the Go, moveable Snacks for Busy Diabetics.

Diabetic snacking on the go could be a truth of life for a kind a pair of diabetic. Working, running errands, taking youngsters and grandkids to games and faculty events, even waiting in doctor’s offices, all of this implies you will likely ought to eat far from home.

If you did not bring any diabetic snacks along, there is a likelihood you’ll need to choose up one thing quick. however don’t fret. once you understand what to seem for, you’ll be able to realize diabetic friendly snacks anywhere.

Fast Food Snacking
If the youngsters within the back seat wish to urge a contented Meal on the approach, you do not got to do while not. one among those fruit and yogurt parfaits makes a good diabetic snack. it’s yogurt and berries, and if you permit off the super sweet granola topping you will be diabetic snacking whereas they eat french fries.

On a diet and searching hungry? It will happen. Here are some super low calorie foods you’ll be able to snack on at the grocery or deli: apples and pears, carrots and celery, broccoli and cabbage. All of these take nearly as several calories to digest as there are within the foods themselves.

A bag of strawberries or blueberries has only a few calories. And you’ll be able to realize yogurt smoothies at the grocery or convenience store. simply browse the label and make certain it is a low calorie smoothie while not scores of added sugar.

Snacking On one thing Crunchy
Want a salty pretzel? attempt Newman’s Own Organic Pretzels. There are a hundred and twenty calories in twenty two of them, and that they have four grams of fiber and five of protein, beside twenty two grams of carbohydrate. immense for a crunchy snack. however if what you actually wish are some chips, the baked ones are best, and there are even whole grain ones.

The best cracker I’ve found is created by Wheat Thins. browse the labels and anticipate added sugar in a number of the flavored varieties. purchase a snack size bag and add some string cheese, and also the whole grain, protein and fat can keep you going for hours while not the low you may get later if you eat a high carb snack.

Granola bars are notorious for being high in sugar of all types, however fiber bars are often smart if you browse the label and decide a coffee carb one. Low carbohydrate counts mean there’s less sugar added.

Nuts of all types build nice snacks. however path mixes have sweet things added. they’re created for hikers who would like scores of carbohydrates to stay them going. we have a tendency to diabetics positively do not would like them. thus purchase snack baggage of plain nuts while not sugared coating.

For one thing sweet attempt FiberOne ninety calorie brownies. The fiber and fat block the glucose reaction to the sugar. you may conjointly attempt some Weight Watchers candy. they’re particular, however they need sugar alcohol.

If you do not just like the abdomen problems caused by sugar alcohols, attempt some dark chocolate. There are forty calories in one piece of Dove whole, and dark chocolate is extremely smart for you, in tiny amounts in fact.

If You Get Thirsty
Besides water, the bottom calorie drink you’ll be able to realize while not artificial sweetener is V8. it is a vegetable drink, and one 11.5 ounce will provides you a serving of vegetables. If you do not mind artificial sweeteners, the diet inexperienced tea drinks style smart.

All fruit juices have a lot of calories than whole fruits do (and no fiber), and lots of of them have added high fructose corn syrup. If you want to examine a comparison of pure juices, here’s a brief list. It provides the calorie count of eight ounces (one cup) to form it easier to match, albeit most of them are available in bottles of eleven or twelve ounces.

V8 vegetable juice 50; V8 Splash 70; V8 Diet Splash 10; orange juice 112; apple juice 117; pineapple-orange-banana 100; grapefruit 96; cranberry (sweetened) a hundred thirty.

Your best option could also be flavored or plain bottled water. A squeeze of lemon makes water style higher, and lemon juice lowers the impact of carbohydrates on your blood sugar. Water slows down digestion of carbs too.

Where’s the Protein in Diabetic Snacks?
Aside from nuts, cheese and yogurt (Greek yogurt has the best protein), it’s tough to search out protein snacks that aren’t wrapped in high glycemic white flour. however lots of stores carry hummus, a Middle jap food made of puree of chickpeas and sesame seeds. that produces it a high protein food.

It are often used sort of a dip, or unfold on wheat crackers and flat bread. If you are on the go and need a lot of protein for diabetic snacking, it works well. Comparing it to Fritos bean dip that has a pair of grams of protein for each five grams of carbs, I found a hummus that has one gram of protein for each one gram of carbs.

There’s conjointly deli sliced meat. browse the labels and realize low fat ones. It takes 3 slices of smoked turkey breast to feature up to ninety calories, and it’s nothing however protein. Open the package, roll one up to form a finger food, and it satisfies the necessity for protein. It will have nitrites, though.

Don’t Let kind a pair of Diabetes and Snacking Stress You
The extra stress that kind a pair of diabetes adds to your existence can do far more damage than eating too several carbs currently and then. this recommendation on diabetic snacking is supposed to form your life easier.

If you’re far from home and it is time to eat, being ready with some ideas will build selections regarding eating selections less stressful. however if you’re in a very scenario with restricted selections, do the most effective you’ll be able to and check out to not worry.

It helps to recollect that your life is your relationships, not kind a pair of diabetes. The author of Alice in Wonderland said, “One of the secrets of life is that every one that’s very value doing is what we have a tendency to do for others.” Lewis Carroll was right. I want you well.

Martha Zimmer invitations you to go to her web site and learn a lot of regarding kind a pair of diabetes, its complications and the way you’ll be able to wear down them, also as nice tips for eating healthy which will build living with diabetes less painful.

Product review of a bag of Great Value Meatballs purchased for around $5.

Product Description: Bag of Italian-style meatballs from the Wal-mart Great Value brand. I found these the other day at Wal-mart for around $5 and used them when I was making spaghetti.

What I liked about this product: First of all, I love the size of these meatballs. Yes, there are times when I would prefer a brand that was a bit larger. But, the smaller sized meatballs are better for the things I use them for; ranging from putting them in my spaghetti sauce to eating them with a tooth pick as a late night movie snack.

As far as taste goes, these do exceed expectations for a store brand. There’s just the right blend of seasonings on them and they taste decent even if they aren’t hidden in a sauce (again, perfect for when I just want to eat them plain).

The meatballs are also easy to cook. I just had to put them in my microwave for a few minutes and they were fully heated. This comes in handy when I want a snack and don’t want to spend a great deal of time making it.

What I didn’t like about this product: The meatballs are a bit greasy. I made a little over a dozen of them the other night and the plate had a layer of grease on it from them.

Also, for a store brand, these are a bit pricey. I spent $5 on the bag and I can buy a comparable sized bag from a couple different better known brands for about half of that.

Final Opinion: I have a couple brands that I would purchase instead of this one if given that option. But, if you are shopping at Wal-mart and need frozen meatballs for something, this isn’t a terrible choice.

Job hunting is stressful, and with the economy, everyone seems to be looking; so, why make it any worse than it is? Follow these tips when searching for work!

10 THINGS TO DO WHEN LOOKING FOR WORK

With the economy stressing the workforce, and jobs not as plentiful as in times past, it is important to make sure every interview goes well. Following these general guidelines will help in the most basic way, but it is still up to you to conduct your interview well in the face to face setting.

1) Make sure that you have all of your materials, resume, work clothes, etc. with you when you are out applying, so that you can start immediately. It helps to know the position you’re seeking and its requirements.

2) Whatever shoes are required for the job are fine, but while hunting, be sure to have sneakers or something else comfortable to wear between stops. When your feet get tired, the rest of you follows, so protect your feet!

3) Make sure you have something to eat, but something light, so that your stomach doesn’t growl during an interview, and you also don’t pass out or get cranky.

4) Be on time, preferably ten to fifteen minutes early for your appointment, so that you’re not tired waiting for the interview, and to allow your interviewer to see that you can keep your work times.

5) Make sure your car is full of gas, and check the oil and water before setting off on your important interview. Break-downs can cost you a great job!

6) Schedule places to rest between interviews, like city parks, or the beach. It helps to calm down after some stressful interviews so that the next one will be on a level playing field. Don’t fall asleep between interviews and miss them!

7) Important, bathe before the interview, but don’t overdo any strong scents with perfumes, colognes, and soaps. You may think you smell great, but an interviewer may not like your scent, or may be overpowered by it, and won’t award you the job.

If you do wear piercings, make sure what type of job it is, as some require less piercings at work and whether you like it or not, the piercings can turn off some employers, no matter what credentials you have. At least tone it down for the interview, so that you are based on your merits and not your metal!

9) If you are fidgety during interviews try to place your hands on your lap or at least on the arms of the chair you sit in, or place your palms on your legs. Also, if you tend to have sweaty palms, either carry a handkerchief to wipe your hands, or use something else before shaking the interviewer’s hand. A clammy handshake can lose a job!

10) If you must miss an appointment, call and let them know. Employers will generally reschedule for someone who calls, but they will not if you just don’t show up!

Snacks are a vital part for any occasion, whether they are hors d’oeuvres, appetizers, finger food or platters. Thanksgiving is no exception! If you are stuck on ideas for your Thanksgiving party, why not consider these options? You will be surprised on how much you can do for Thanksgiving snacks!

First of all, what kind of Thanksgiving party are you planning? This will make things easier, as you will only focus on the main core of your party and hopefully branch off from there. For most Thanksgiving parties, you should try adjusting the choices of food available. For example: If you are planning a formal Thanksgiving party, elegance and formality is the key. For kids’ Thanksgiving, simple but fun and creative snacks are recommended. Lastly, if you are having a friend get-together that’s less on the tradition and more on the casual and ‘hip’, your snacks must reflect that.

These days, kid-focused Thanksgiving parties are becoming part of the norm, whether there is family, friends from the neighborhood or even from school. Deciding what snacks to buy can be quite hard, especially if buying for the first time. It may be Thanksgiving, but your ‘traditional’ finger food can be applied in this situation, like potato chips, cheese and crackers, sandwiches and pigs in a blanket. Snacks can be elaborate, even including turkey. If guests of all ages will be present, you may also want to include snacks for everyone to enjoy, like sausage, luncheon meats and vegetables.

Traditional (formal) Thanksgiving parties are much more extravagant than kiddy ones, so make sure your snacks match the theme! If you wish to include hors d’oeuvres for your party, do like the Italians do and make antipasti, with cured meats, olives, pepperoncini, mushrooms, provolone, mozzarella and small bell peppers. Or you can stick with an entrée, which unlike the hors d’oeuvres is the first, light meal of the dinner. Leave the turkey, potatoes, cranberries, and salad for the main course, you can choose what you like for an entrée, like basic seafood or vegetables.

If you also want drinks at your Thanksgiving party, decide now how you want them. You can choose to serve alcohol, but make sure this reflects the aura of the party, so don’t serve beer or wine at a kids’ party! But you don’t have to serve alcohol, it is up to you. Also, if it is a kids’ party, try and cut down on the soda and serve fruit juice or water, so you can keep down the energy levels of the party guests!

Leading up to Thanksgiving, many retail stores, more likely grocery stores, place popular Thanksgiving snacks on sale. Waiting for this time to purchase you party snacks and drinks make it so you have can everything that you want, but at a cheap price.

Now you have many ideas for your Thanksgiving party, it’s up to you on how you can use the ideas to make a party your guests will never forget!

Eat Too Much for Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving Day is a day to be thankful for all that we have. It’s a day to spend with our loved ones, the people who we love and they mean a lot to us.

Thanksgiving is also a day with an abundance of food. It’s a day filled with food and football, the Double Fs!

Even though we all try very hard to hold ourselves back from all of the delicious, tasty food, it’s so hard and most of us wind up caving into all of the temptation especially the desserts.

Growing up, we always went to our grandparents for Thanksgiving. Both sets of grandparents would come over to our house or we’d go to one of their houses. Either way, we all got to see and spend quality time with each other. Plus, we always had ample food, enough to feed an Army.

At our grandparent’s house, it would start out late morning, early afternoon with a veggie tray, which is healthy. Then my grandmother would set out a bowl of green and black olives. Then came the chips and dip along with the bowl of mixed nuts. By the time dinner was ready to be served, most of us were on our way to being full from all of the snacks presented to us. As the years went by, I had learned to not fill up on these lovely snacks, to just munch here and there then leave the rest for the main course.

This year, as I live by myself, I decided to do my own thing at home. Normally, I go to my family’s house (parents or brother’s). I wanted to be different this year and not have turkey. Plus, I didn’t feel like traveling for over an hour or so. Plus, most of the retail stores (Wal-Mart, Target, etc.) were going to be opening their stores Thanksgiving evening for Black Friday. Sort of for the early birds to go shopping. So I was laying low and doing my own thing as I had mentioned before.

Every year, my family and I always do turkey with the whole works (stuffing, gravy, green bean cassarole, rolls, etc.). Well, this year I decided to try something different. I wasn’t really in the mood for turkey and preparing a turkey just for myself was a lot of work. Anyways, I decided on grilled shrimp with grilled vegetables, which turned out to be a wonderful delicious early dinner.

Here’s what I used:

1/2 pound of Shrimp (you can use the already cooked & peeled shrimp or cook and peel them yourself)

Olive Oil Cooking Spray

1/4 Pound of Fresh Green Beans

1 Half or Whole Red Onion

1 Large Green Pepper

Pinch of Salt/Pinch of Pepper

Other Spices as You Wish

Grill all of these ingredients in a Teflon skillet cooking it as you like. I prefer mine grilled crispy and a bit blackened. Plus, I will add other spices as well to make it tangy and interesting.

So that was my Thanksgiving and I did not miss Mr. Turkey one bit. Next year, I’ll catch up with him for dinner. Hope everybody had a safe and wonderful holiday and there were plenty of Tums to go around after that last piece of pumpkin pie.

Big fan of Pirates of the Caribbean or the haunting tales of Blackbeard? Then create a swashbuckling atmosphere at this year's Halloween party using a few simple tips and decorations.

Ahoy, mateys! Set sail this Halloween to a swashbuckling adventure party — courtesy of a few easy tips that will transform your Halloween celebration into a sword-crossing, treasure-hunting adventure this year, from decorations to costume ideas.

Skull Jack O’ Lanterns

Light your way to the celebration with a new kind of Jack o’ Lanterns — grinning skulls! Instead of traditional orange Connecticut Fields pumpkins, try using White Lumos variety, a medium-sized white pumpkin perfect for carving a skull-like face. Use a knife to cut your gaping eye holes and jagged missing-toothed grins — a pumpkin carving kit will help you cut smaller details for accuracy. Once finished, light a row of grinning skulls using a string of low-watt or low-heat clear bulbs and line your driveway, porch, stoop, or other greeting site for guests.

Treasure Chest

Old wooden crates are hard to come by unless you live near a warehouse or lumber yard, so create your own using cardboard, paint, and black markers. A bottomless form lets you set them easily over drink coolers or snack trays so your guests have to lift the lid to survey the tasty “treasures” inside. Add a few rust-painted locks to each lid for effect.

Quick Costumes

If your guests aren’t coming in costumes of your own, you can provide a few quick “dress up” items for the young (or young at heart) attendees. Fill one of your cardboard “treasure chests” with speckled handkerchiefs, striped sash-length fabric, fake eye patches and beards, maybe even a stuffed parrot or two. Cheap costume items are easy to find at dollar stores, retail outlets, and novelty shops — but you can make your own if you prefer. Cut swords from sheets of heavy cardboard and paint them black or cover with cheap aluminum foil. Use paint, glue, and feathers to transform an old straw hat into a broad-brimmed pirate’s bonnet worthy of Hook himself.

Hearty Snacks

Paste labels over your soft drink bottles, transforming them into pirate-worthy beverages like “Rich Rum”, “Bottle o’ Whiskey”, or other creative titles. While tiny sword toothpicks add a pirate touch to your appetizers, you can make a few simple recipes that will go perfectly with your party theme. Transform deviled eggs into yellowed eyes by placing an olive half in the center of each one; mix jewel-like Jolly Rancher’s with gold coin-like butterscotch candies in a “treasure bowl” (vanilla sandwich cookies work well as gold coins as well). Make a sea-storm punch using blue Kool-Aid, ginger ale or sprite, and lime sherbet (float a miniature ship on top if desired).

Be creative and choose decorations and snacks that best suit your favorite parts of pirate lore — a unique pirate-themed Halloween party is sure to be a hit with adventure fans of all ages!

Learn how to de-stress while driving.

You’re running late and stress is running high. It seems that every stop light is a red light. Why? Because it is trying to tell you it is time to slow down, relax, and de-stress. Diving gives you several ways to relief stress while you are still moving.

Count seconds when you are struck at a red light. Noticing that stop lights only last a couple of minutes will help to relieve impatience. Also focusing our mind on something else besides being late will decrease your stress level.

Hand yoga increases joint flexibility and blood flow, especially with frequent computer users. Stretch all your fingers while stretching your arms out first. Then bend each finger individually in.

Hand strengthening balls will increase the strength in hands and lower arms while driving. At the same time, you can take your stress and frustration out and leaving it with the ball when you get out.

Turn on your favorite tunes and sing along. Your soul will be soothed and dancing even though you can’t.

Placing a photo of your family or the latest piece of artwork from your child up in your car will improve your view from pavement, stoplights, and other cars. This will remind you of something more pleasant.

Driving is the perfect place to help you get your necessary amount of water every day. Carry a bottle of water with you and take a sip every chance you get. Your water will disappear faster then what you think.

A story relaxed you as a child and relaxes your child now, but you can still use the relaxing benefits as an adult. Keep a variety of audio books in the car to help you relax, but remember to stay clear of anything extremely distracting or makes you sleepy.

Take advantage of the ways you can decrease your stress level before or after work by the tips above. Whether you enjoy music, a good audio book, or taking your frustrations out on a hand strengthen ball, you will feel better when you get to your final destination.
