Questions for deprestion years and answers.

                  The great Depression

20. Some natural disasters caused problems for people such as the famers. The prices of wheat began to drop so the process of producing wheat was much higher then what they were selling it for. Also the drought made it a lot harder to grow because the top layer of soil turned into dust so it made it almost impossible to grow enough crops. Even if some farmers were able to grow a bit of crop the grass hoppers and plant diseases would destroy the rest of them.

21. Two political parties which emerged during the depression years were the Democratic Party which drew most of its support from Southern planters and Northern farmers. Also the Republican Party which it’s original founders were opposed to slavery.

22. the two terms in the depression to criticize government were the bennet buggies which were automotives with their engines removed and drawn by horses and oxen so people were able to save money and go into down easily another term was the bennetburoughs which were hobo jungles in which the homeless drifters were able to camp out and live for a while.

23. The Regina manifesto refers to a statement of the political aims of the co-operated commonwealth federation. The statement gave its idea of a free market system to the people and used this to help stop the depression.

24. The Great Depression ended as nations increased their production of war materials at the start of World War II. This increased production provided jobs and put large amounts of money back into circulation.

Reasons for Confederation.

Before 1867 we were separate colonies’ of Britain. There were five main reasons behind our confederation. In this essay I will explain these main topics political, the railway, trade, American expansion, and the changing of the British attitude.

Our first topic I will discuss is about the political problems that were happening. Our first problem was that they parties could never agree on a law because each party was separate there was none that was working together. The next was that they could never decide on a good government, Canada had 12 different governments in 4 years. To make the change of the confederation the parties Clear Grits the Tories and Parti Bleu joined together to make one big party so they had an advantage when voting for different laws. The first agreement they had as a combined party was to make confederation.

Our second main topic was about the railway how it could benefit us and how it couldn’t. The good things were that it connected the colonies together and it ran from Montreal to Portland in the U.S. this railway could also do well when in the winter because it was hard for the people of Canada to travel really far in the winter time. This railway could travel and go places even faster because it traveled at 15 mph but it didn’t have to go around big round roads it could just travel straight there. The bad thing about this railway is that might make the taxes go up and the tax payers wouldn’t get any extra benefits for paying more tax like health benefits.

The third main topic was about the trade. Britain ended free trade but if they went with the idea of confederation the railway could keep them trading with other buyers so we could have a better economy.

The fourth main topic was about the American expansion. The British had supported the south during the civil war. The rumour was that the Americans wanted to take over B.C. because of the gold rush this rumour was called the manifest dynasty. So by getting a better economy and building the railway we will have enough money to make our own defence.

Our last main topic is about the changing of the British attitudes towards Canada. The British wanted Canada to become its own country as well because Canada was getting very expensive to run it was hard to keep defending because of how much land Canada covered. The British also dropped the guarantee trade with Canada. And the British stop giving Canada their financial benefits’.

The main topic that I discussed that I thought was the most important was the changing of the British attitude towards Canada because Canada’s economy was getting flushed down the drain and Canada ha to defend itself now because Britain wasn’t.

The roman times and a battle.

“Today is going to be a glorious day,” pronounced my master. All around me hundreds of suited soldiers of Rome ready for action stood patiently. As my master rode his horse, I followed behind him running at top speed. My four paws hit the hard ground like a hammer to a nail. Once in a while there was a space between soldiers and through that gap I saw something horrible.

These oddly dressed people called barbarians who were yelling and shouting, wanting to fight. “Don’t they know they have no chance,” I thought, “we out number them.” I barked out in alarm as an arrow stabbed a soldier next to me. He fell to the ground. Maximus yelled out to the soldiers to hold their ground; however, they were looking nervous. Maximus signaled to attack and it began. I don’t know how long went by but we won. Barbarian blood and bodies everywhere. A Roman soldier threw me a bone with meat on it; I didn’t care where it came from, I ate it hungrily.

The barbarians that we captured would be taken to the collusiem and be forced to act as gladiators in the great collusiem. “Come here dog,” Maximus said softly to me, “hop in this cage.” The next time I woke I was in my master’s bedroom.
