Feeling hot under the collar?

Glaciers and polar ice are melting, ocean levels are rising, hot, dry weather, huge forest fires, water restrictions, crop failures…

You name it, if these don’t feature in your life yet, they soon will. Global warming and climate change are facts of life now, according to the International Panel on Climate Change, and many scientists.

Huge problems beyond our control!

But are you hot under the collar?

If you’re not, you probably live in a city where half of the Earth’s citizens live now and take much for granted. Because in city living we are far removed from natural processes that deliver our food, clothing and energy.

Does your child even know that milk comes from a cow – or a soya bean if you’re that way inclined – and not from a milk carton?

Even in the city you cannot stick your head in the sand (or under the asphalt?) and you are not immune from climate change. Witnesses are the 15,000 mostly elderly people that died in Paris alone in the sizzling hot European summer of 2003. Or the many killed in New Orleans at the ‘hands’ of cyclone Katrina.

And if you are hot under the collar, do you think perhaps that there will be some miraculous scientific break-through so they ever-responsible ‘They’ will fix the Earth? The ultimate stem cell technology maybe that can clone a new home for us!

Seriously, for many of us it is just all too hard.

All we want is to live a life where we may raise our children to have a future.

A future of some predictability: of schooling, a job, a family, community, of achievements and an enjoyable life – on a healthy planet Earth.

Is this a fading dream, once a reasonable expectation?

Maybe, maybe not.

Our world is changing. There are great challenges ahead and it is too late to stop global warming. The Earth has changed and the processes it uses to regulate itself are adjusting themselves. And these changes will not suit human life as it is.

But you are not powerless.

Each person alone can change the world, one by one. Let me explain.

Do I say that these problems are under our control then?

Well, yes and no.

We are talking about a severely disabled world really.

And from the experience of disability we can learn how to survive and thrive!

“Come on, get real”, you say? Do I hear: “Just show me the right alternate energy sources and we’ll get out of this mess.”

Yes, we desperately do need to switch to renewable energy sources that do not make a greenhouse out of our home, the Earth. But all the technology in the world will never be enough to survive and flourish.

Renewable energy sources alone will not teach us to accept limits, unpredictability and what it is to lead a rewarding life.

How we have lived collectively, in our billions, for the last few hundred years, has got us to this point. And by changing what we do we can live through climate change as best as we might.

Even now.

It’s simple and it’s hard work. No way out of that.

Many people with severe disabilities know this. And they report the same or better life satisfaction as anyone else–under highly challenging, vulnerable circumstances.

So, we can learn to live well in a disabled world.

Regardless of what is to come you and I will be well served by the beliefs and strategies that people with disabilities use to – not just to survive – but to live well.

These are true alternate energy sources.

Those that guide us how to use what we have sustainably.

These ‘disabled people’ believe this:

* Accept that all of us are fragile and vulnerable

* The world is full of limits. We need some of these to live well

* Vulnerability and dependence are an inevitable part of a whole life

* No-one is independent, but interdependent

* Connection with others is our lifeline and our wellbeing

And they do this:

* Engage with others to build positive relationship, where you live, work and play

* Pay attention to other’s needs and that of the environment

* Take responsibility for the situation you’re in

* Care for others and the environment competently

* Be assertive and use your humour and creativity

Not all people with disabilities act in this way of course. And I’d be the last to portray people with disabilities as heroes. We’re just people – trying to get on.

You try that!

Talk to that elderly woman in your street. Offer a hand when someone needs it.

Doing such small things will connect you with others and your environment.

And do also use the ‘regular’ renewable alternate energy sources, and recycle too.

You can change your local world by acting in these ways.

And if all fails – regardless?

Well, it’s the only way to go!

Perhaps your world might be just as hot but it’ll be cooler under your collar!

This is the general consensus around the world actually spoken in those exact words. Energy resources other then Nuclear and Fossil Based fuels are desperately needed around the world; so why aren’t we inventing it?

The potential repercussions and future dangers of the seriousness of Japan’s Nuclear Plant problems are yet unknown. The situation is serious make no mistake, but why can’t the world come up with a better system?

We hear one excuse after another as to why we need to use energies that are either becoming scarce or so devastatingly dangerous many people don’t want it around them. There is a resource that is as common as breathing yet not one country have taken the initiative to find a way of harnessing it.

Instead of spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in wars killing one another why can’t the world spend it to save lives? Solar Energy is abundant and more then available around the world and yet no one is willing to learn how to economically utilize it. It available and around us every single day of our lives, yet man kind persists in using energies that could literally destroy not only human lives, but all life for hundreds of miles around just one Nuclear Plant or further as poisonous clouds move with the winds across the world.

Everyone knows Fossil Fuels are running scarce and they are not even healthy to live around and yet no amount of money or earnest scientific companies are even energetically searching for the answers that could become the lifesaver of the entire world.

I would like to see every country of the world challenge each other to produce the first viable world wide Solar Energy units that may be economically affordable and sound for the world to utilize for the people everywhere. The Country that could do that should be regarded the Top Humanitarian Country of the World and would undoubtedly become the richest Country in the world.

There is no such thing as “No viable Power Available;” people would just rather make money killing one another then saving each other. Let us all take this opportunity to rethink the options and start doing the right thing; it’s not too late!

Is global warming a hoax or is this a real problem and we should be doing more?

In the home town forum where I live the locals are debating this topic hot and heavy. Both sides show documentation to prove their side of the story and both sides have their share of highly intelligent individuals. Both sides also seem to have their share of well…not so intelligent ones as well. It does make for interesting reading sometimes though.

Image via Wikipedia

Whether or not you believe global warming and or climate change is real or not does not really concern me. What bothers me is that from what I can gather the ones that think it is all a hoax could care less that we are polluting our planet and wiping out tremendous amounts wild spaces. It doesn’t take a lot of research to find out that we are cutting down the rain forest at an alarming rate and polluting our atmosphere just as fast.

Is seems to me that these people that think all of this global warming business is nonsense are continuing to push against green energy programs. Like it or not green energy is the future for our planet. Fossil fuels will indeed run out one of these days and only sustainable energy fuels will be left.

I have a hard time understanding why anyone would push against things so hard that seem to have so much value. I take breathing clean air very seriously. I suffer from asthma and I know first hand what it feels like to not breath well…it sucks.

Green living is slowly catching on and more and more people are trying do their part. Many are finding out that living the green lifestyle saves them a lot of money. Many households are now completely off the power grid and rely on solar and wind power for their electricity. Many more use these two power sources just in part to help lower their monthly power bill.

Myself I build solar panels as a hobby. It is a very fascinating and rewarding hobby. I am even thinking of possibly turning my hobby into a part-time business. So no…I really don’t care if climate change is a hoax or not. But I think we should be doing more to insure the health of our planet just because it is the right thing to do. Our children’s children and all those that come after them will be very thankful.

global worming is when the earth heats up. this happen when gases like carbon dioxide water vapor, nitrous oxide, and methane. the sun heat and light get trap by the gases in the atmosphere this make the tenpeture increse. some people said “what do i care i won’t be alive to feel it let the future find and enswere for this”. well that not the answere to this we need to work now on this problen fefore it get wors and can’t be fix. you see if the heard get more eath this hurt many animals and humans ass well too much heat kill many plan so think of abouth it. one way we can decrese global worming is by carpoling you can talk to some of your workers buddys and carpool this wey insted of 1 person percar you can take 5 or 3 this wey there be lest people on the freewey lest traffic and lest pollliton and not only that you save some money too. the other reason of why we have global worming is that we us too much eletrecity.

DO YOU NOW WERE WE GET THE ELECTRICITY?

Like some people think we get it from the dam like the one in vegas. Some other thing we get it from the sun other fron the wing well you see that is not true. The nunber one resorse we us is coal and they burn it to get the energy this coal it very dirty and it the one makeing the earth like this it are number one enemy. here a graph i found in google.

When you hear about the results of worldwide warming it truly is essential to comprehend that the consequences we’re encountering these days are moderate compared to what the long run will see if we usually do not take preventative action. Over the subsequent century researchers and environmental professionals are stating that the consequences of worldwide heating up will keep on on a constant inclined curve. Temperatures heating up a little bit just about every decade till the earth’s temperatures reach the sweltering levels that we experienced in history. Scientists believe that the earth’s temperatures will rise in between 2-9 levels Fahrenheit by 2050.

Each year the United States spends around 20 million dollars purchasing fossil fuels. This country emits one fourth of the world’s green house gases; by far the most distinguished of these gases is carbon dioxide, that is introduced in the burning of fossil fuels. Some nations and people claim to be only vaguely concerned together with the cause since they ended up unaware or uninformed of your issue. Roger Revelle, an oceanographer, helped to call out the dilemma on the public. After not receiving very much feedback towards his cause, he criticized different governments in a very jocular manner. He named getting warm “the excellent geophysical experiment.” He said, “The experiment would be to load the atmosphere with as a lot co2 as possible, add a few other dangerous gases, and see what happens. Even with the setting of new rules and regulations, the earth continues to warm every year. Minimal efforts created to lower the discharge of green house gases, specifically co2 from your burning of fossil fuels, improve the rate and intensity of global warming.

As the oceans get warmer, the intensity of hurricanes amplifies in energy and devastation. In addition, numerous coastal cities and regions have recently been encountering flooding, caused by the melting from the polar icecaps. The Arctic’s perennial icecaps decline in area by nine percent each year. All of these consequences are actually directly linked for the release of green house gases.

Another spot affected by global warming could be the animal kingdom and nature. The amount of animals per specie may be decreasing annually due to harsh environmental changes. As the polar icecaps melt, all creatures that live there are left without shelter. For example, as seal dens have been melting, the number of seals has dropped. Events that come about in the spring, for instance mating, migrating, laying eggs, and returning from hibernation have been taking place roughly 5.1 days earlier than they were fifty decades ago. The early occurrence of these occasions proves that the globe is getting warmer each year. More proof of heating up would be the proof of several animals traveling farther from your equator as they migrate. Though this alter has long been happening with a variety of creatures, butterflies and mosquitoes are becoming found the farthest from their natural habitats. Even though butterflies don’t result in any identified issues with the environment, mosquitoes are carries of malaria. This deadly disease has dangerously spread to new areas across the globe.

A third type of proof of world heating up could be found in plants. Vegetation in an area differs concurrently using the environment of that identical area. In some recent years, regions’ crops are actually both flooded and dried out. Due for the depletion with the ozone, many crops are unable to survive. Another trouble would be the movement and increase of allergens. Carbon in the environment makes it possible for plants to go through photosynthesis much more rapidly, allowing allergens to grow in number. This evidence found through all of nature tends to make it really clear that global warming can be a large issue.

A mixture of numerous actions and, in some cases, not sufficient action causes climatic change within the world today. The foremost cause of world heating up could be the ongoing burning of fossil fuels, which releases carbon dioxide in to the atmosphere. This outcome is dangerously escalating since the gases are becoming introduced in greater quantities. These gases not only develop as a lot as maintain temperature from the atmosphere, but they also thin the ozone layer. Some parts have already been so thinned by the gases that you’ll find holes present from the ozone. These harmful holes allow damaging UV rays from your sun to reach the earth. As the world continues to increase its pollution level each and every year, the quantity of pores and skin cancer patients increases.

Carbon dioxide is often absorbed by seawater. If the water is cold, it can hold far more gas. Unfortunately, with worldwide warming, the temperature with the oceans has been increasing. As the temperatures increase, a lot more carbon dioxide is released. This vicious circle will continue to take place unless scientists are not able to this from occurring. Particularly, petrol, or gasoline, is really a major supply of the release of these co2 compounds. Petrol contains hydrocarbons that launch co2 when they are burned. This reaction is sadly unavoidable. The only solution is really a unique fuel source. Carbon dioxide, after released, lasts as much as 100 several years from the atmosphere. It is the most abundant heat-absorbent gasoline besides water vapor, that is not considered as a greenhouse gas because it rains back for the soil inside a continuous cycle. The Mauna Loa Observatory continues to be measuring the level of co2 each day since 1958. Carbon dioxide makes up about one-half from the causes of worldwide warming.

Although co2 largely harms the environment, the other greenhouse gases have a large impact within the atmosphere. Lasting only 10 years, methane absorbs thirty periods more warmth than carbon dioxide. Slash-and-burn farming plus the burning of some fossil fuels also emit nitrous oxide. Chlorofluocarbons escape from various cooling systems. The blend of these 4 gases outcomes inside retention of intense amounts of heat.

Climate models show that if temperatures in the course of the rest of the planet rise to three levels Fahrenheit they’ll far more than most likely increase to at the very least 7 degrees Fahrenheit within the Arctic. From this the oceans during the planet will grow to be full with melting glaciers and ice in the Arctic most likely to increase by at the least 3ft.

On February 3, 2007, French president, Jacques Chirac, proposed a new strategy to stop global warming. He stated, “It’s our responsibility. Al Gore, however, is incredibly involved with climatic change and also the greenhouse effect; he supports Chirac and plans to help.

The concern of global heating affects nature, people, and the economy. To some people, climatic change just isn’t of their concern because they feel it does not affect them. Although they might not understand it, climatic change impacts everyone, in particular the future generations. Their complicated equations, called general circulation models (GCMs), are so complicated and involve numerous components that they can take days to solve. Environmentalists verify that the hazardous mix of flooding and drought will substantially raise within the following century. The regular sea levels continues to be rising annually for a although now. Some say that if the world continues on the path it truly is on, then 95% with the Great Barrier Reef will disappear by 2075. They calculate that the glaciers in Glacier National Park could soften by 2030, and 37% of all species could be extinct by 2050.

Global warming issues are becoming even greater and with the accelerated use of solar energy and wind enery across the planet will only help to slow down many of these predictions.

Are you making use of solar renewable energy? Do you know how to make use of solar renewable energy? Do you know there are many ways of making use of solar renewable energy?

The three ways of making use of solar renewable energy are the passive, active and harassing methods.

The passive approach of using solar renewable energy is seen in many different new buildings.

The buildings are designed to let the sunshine into the building. You will notice that many newer buildings use glass rooftop and glass panels to let the sunlight in.

That is to provide light and heat into the building. That is a passive way of using solar renewable energy. While the sunlight does not convert to usable source of energy, the fact that you are making use of natural light means you need not switch on the light during the day.

The active approach of using solar renewable energy is to use the heat of the solar energy. Many people use the heat to power the water for shower.

That is an active approach to the usage of solar renewable energy. You can also use the heat to dry the wet laundry.

The third method of using solar renewable energy is the one that generates a lot of media attention. Scientists are working hard to improve the conversion rate of the solar renewable energy into electricity. You can see many applications of using solar renewable energy into electricity around the world. The solar panels is one of the best ways to generate electricity from solar renewable energy.

You can also buy the solar powered torchlight, garden lamp, backpacks with foldable solar panel for powering up your cell phone and laptop.

The challenge facing the commercial use of solar renewable energy is the cost. The solar panels are costly, and the conversion rate is not very good yet.

Even if the scientists can improve the conversion rate, they need to find a way to make the solar panels cheaper.

There is no point paying a few thousand dollars for a solar panel, since the breakeven is more than ten years. If the solar panels to power a whole house cost just a few hundred dollars, the breakeven is probably a year or two. That will entice more people to buy the solar panels and set them on the rooftop.

Solar renewable energy is still an alternative energy source. A day will come when solar renewable energy is the main energy source.

The Earth loves it.

The use of power is growing by leaps and bounds every day. We as a culture are consuming more than our fare share when we could easily be looking for an alternative. Though there are a number of viable options for our power usage, solar power may be the best. So much electricity could be produced if we would install solar panels in our homes. It would not only help the environment, but our pockets as well. By setting up solar power kits in our homes we could guarantee a lower monthly electric bill and a never ending source of power.

Installing anything in your home cannot be done without a little work and a lot of research. Before you begin installing solar panels in your home, you should first look on the internet for information regarding your plans. Also it would be wise to ask questions at your local hardware store to get a better understanding of what you are getting yourself into.

Like most home projects you start, the first thing you need to know is what can I improve? Begin by creating a quick list of all the appliances in your home that you use. Be sure to write down how often you use them and how much energy the products tend to consume.

Next is a very important step, choose the type of system you want installed. You have some options like photovoltaic and solar heating panels. Going with either of these two solar power kits would be great, but make sure the kit you buy is reliable. Making sure you get the right kit is very important because the perfect place for your solar panels will be on a roof. This is the best place to take in the sun’s rays and not be obstructed by anything.

There are many advantages to installing solar panels in your home for power. As we all know this abundant source of power comes from the sun. Every day the sun beams down on us an incredible amount of solar radiation, more than enough to feed the needs of mankind. This can be a huge advantage because it will affect our environment. With the pollution that gas produces, solar power will greatly reduce or eliminate it from our air.

Solar energy is also extremely easy to get, thus resulting in lower monthly utility bills for you and your family. This cheap, renewable energy source will help you to not only clean up the environment, but change the way you live forever. The solar kits that allow you to convert solar energy will not have any negative effects on the environment, so there is no need to worry about leaving your carbon footprint.

The continued use of gas and other fossil fuels cannot last forever. We cannot continue to live comfortably while also maintaining an unhealthy environment. Finding a better energy source to live off of is our only chance at survival. Installing solar panels in our homes is not only important to us in the present; it will be in the future as well.

Save the environment!

The need of electricity is growing day by day in our daily life. The proper alternative to burn fossil fuels is the use of solar power. The Sun is providing much energy that if we store this energy in our batteries, then we can supply the electricity to everyone across the globe and this electricity would last for a whole year. The world is heading towards the sphere of technologies, and we can use this solar power to produce electricity and lower our monthly electricity bills by the less use of electricity. We can install solar power kits in our homes by reducing the use of fossil fuels which will in directly save from harming the environment.

You have to consider few things to convert your home to solar power. You have to first look around your home for certain things like how many appliances you use in your home and for this how much energy would be required?

The best advantage of installing solar power at your home is to protect the environment and reducing the use of fossil fuels such as oil and coal which pollute the air which in turn harm the environment. These solar kits have no negative special effects which could harm the environment.

To protect the environment from harmful fuels, you have to install and purchase a reliable kit which is a first step to convert your home to solar power. A good solar power kit should have all the important part which is needed to install solar power at your home.

You should install the solar power kit on the roof because it the most ideal place which is closer to sun, the panels should be faced directly towards the sun rays in order to absorb the most of the energy. Then you can store this energy to a converter for longer use. Don’t place these panels in the areas which are covered from the over-hanging branches and high buildings.

When you are making decision to get these solar power kits, you must choose that what type of system you would be installing, whether it is photovoltaic panels or solar heating panels. They both have advantages and disadvantages and decide according to their affordable price and your home location.

Solar heating panels cannot produce or generate electricity nut they can reduce the use of electricity and thus reducing the electric utility bills to about fifteen percent. On other hand, photovoltaic panels can generate electricity by converting sunlight into electricity. But they are expensive and need larger space than the solar heating panels.Among the photovoltaic panels, mono crystalline panels are the most useful and their efficiency rates about twenty percent but at the same time is expensive too.

You can run electrical machinery and appliances in your home. Solar energy is easy to obtain, very cheap and is renewable. This will reduce the cost of your utility bills to much extent and will help you to protect the environment from getting destroyed and you will support Go Green more!

Electricity requirements are increasing everyday in our domestic use. The burn fossil fuels can not fulfill our requirements; resultantly we have to look for new resources of power generation. The solar energy is the suitable one as it is cheaper and can be produced in bulk quantity. The solar energy is emitted by the sun which can be easily stored in batteries. This energy is stored in such a large capacity that it can be supplied to all the users across the globe and it will be sufficient for a complete year. Our world is entering in new era of technological advancements and we can use this advancement to produce solar energy. By employing solar energy as an alternative source we can decrease our monthly electricity charges .By installing solar energy kit in our homes we can save the environment from worst effects of fossil fuel.

You have to consider few things before converting your home to solar power. Firstly carryout the assessments that how much energy you required for the appliances you have at your home.

By installing solar power at your home you not only protect the environment but also can reduce the use of fossil fuels such as oil and coal which cause pollution to the environment. These solar kits are pollution free and have no bad effects on the environments.

To protect the environment from harmful fuels, you have to install and purchase a reliable kit which is a first step to convert your home to solar power. Firstly you must acquire a trustworthy solar kit. A characteristic of a good solar power is that, it must contain the entire important elements which are required to install solar power.

The best place where you can install the solar power kit is your house roof because here it is exposed to the sunrays. While installing the panels they are located in such away it should be faced directly towards the sun so that maximum absorbance stored in the panels, afterwards which can be stored in a converter for a longer duration. Placing these panels in the areas under the over-hanging branches and high buildings can reduce its effectiveness.

There are two types of solar systems are available in market e.g. photovoltaic panels and solar heating panels before installing the system you must choose one of them .They both have their own their advantages and disadvantages, you should choose one which has reasonable price and suits your home location.

One of the disadvantages of Solar heating panels is that they cannot generate electricity. There only utility is to reduce the use of electricity which resultantly cause decrease in electric bills up to fifteen percent. On other hand, photovoltaic panels have the advantage of generating electricity with the help of sunlight. But at the same time they are expensive and will require larger space at your home as compared to solar panel. If we critically analyze among the photovoltaic panels, mono crystalline panels are the most suitable as they have efficiency rates of twenty percent. The only disadvantage is that, they are also expensive.

To make the environments green and healthy .You can use electrical appliances in your home. Solar energy has its own advantages as its production is easier. It is cheaper as compared to other production means and is renewable. It has the advantages of protecting our environments and it can reduce your electricity bill up to your desired standards.

A gesture of benevolence... I guess.

In an attempt to give rise to thousands of job opportunities and promote the usage of renewable energy sources, President Barack Obama had announced on Saturday that the Department of Energy is rewarding approximately $2 billion for new solar plants.

The two companies that will be receiving the funds are Abengoa Solar of Spain which will be constructing the world’s largest solar plant in Solana, Arizona and giving rise to, according to Abengoa, the employment of approximately 1600 workers during the construction and more than 80 professional permanent job opportunities after completion; and Abound Solar Manufacturing, which will be making full use of the funds by financing the mass-production of thin photovoltaic modules at an existing plant and the establishment of a second manufacturing plant which will result in more than 1200 high-tech jobs being up for grabs in Colorado and Indiana, while at the same time lowering the price of solar power for everyone worldwide. In a nutshell, everyone may see an obvious reduction in national unemployment and a cleaner environment for all and future generations to come should Obama’s little coup be proven successful.

As President Barack Obama had once said, to bring the nation’s economy back from the brink of depression, it was essential to build up the country’s debt temporarily. Let’s hope he knows what he’s doing…
