Victims of chronic diseases or disabling accidents suffer major financial setback due to their inability to work or be gainfully employed. The US government has thus come up with SSDI which provides state sponsored financial aid to disabled citizens. SSDI does have a few eligibility criteria you have to meet before you can be entitled to the benefits.
