This article examines Suburbia, which can be seen as the characteristic environment of the postmodern age. Millions of us live in suburbs and we tend to take them for granted because they are so familiar and mundane – it has been said that Suburbia is ubiquitous, but invisible.

About growing up in the suburbs.

There was once a need for cities — they brought together capital, equipment, the market, expertise, culture, and organization into close proximity and benefited everyone. Now, cities are unneeded relics of a bygone era, and we should not subsidize cities or parts of cities to fund their activities. Cities should sink or swim on their own merits. Does sending billions of dollars into cities to prop them up make city governments lazy about making sure they are attracting residents and businesses.

As a young 14 year old Minneapolitian, I explain and articulate my thoughts on the matter of urban sprawl.

Living a simple life is by no means an easy way out, but the payoff is worth every drop of sweat and broken fingernail. Urban micro-farming is becoming increasingly popular as a way to survive in today’s economy.
