This is how to catch your most memorable moments with photography.

The first date. A grand wedding. The child’s first walk. A newborn. The sunset. An impeding storm. Leaves falling from the branch of a tree. The first birthday. The beach party. The housewarming. A reunion. Christmas. The annual Thanksgiving.

These are just some of the occasions where memories are being processed. And definitely, these are just few of the seemingly endless list of memories any person would want to keep forever.

Most-if not all-people are fond of keeping memories. Memories that bring them back to the days when their lives were simpler and happier than it is today. It’s not because they are bitter over something…But since people are naturally discontented of what they have, they would want to ask for more-memories that is.

Since memories do not necessarily require any specific amount of money-what better way to preserve these still moments of happiness but to enclose them in a photo?

Indeed, many are people are so fond of seeing themselves captured in a single photo. Some just enjoy seeing how photogenic they are in photos. Some would only want to preserve a distant memory of someone through a photo.

When it comes to the quality of the photo’s composition, try to get more landscape photos that capture the essence of the place and the people. You can take distant photos and shots especially if you want to give more emphasis on the scenery rather that the people posing in front of it.

If you are the experimental type, you can try taking silhouette photos that are more emotional-looking and artistic. The basic rule is that make sure you are using your default metering mode and focus on the human subjects.

Are fairy-tales still in fashion in this age of computers and ever-growing technological innovations?

I defer answering that; you may have a better answer--and the box at the bottom of this page awaits you and your answer:-)

Meantime, read on and enjoy :-)

Once upon a time, a Princess–in the guise of a human being–left her fairy kingdom to take a stroll along what she thought was an unfrequented earthling beach. Well, she was wrong to think so–for there, she saw a lad whose mere feature made her heart beat faster. The guy was as surprised as she was when she decided to remove her cloak of invisibility–which Harry Potter had borrowed from her returned after the filming of the Potter series.

Well, just think: someone just suddenly stands right in front of you–from out of nowhere. How would you feel? Cold water down your spine? That was what Manny felt.

“For goodness sake!” Manny exclaimed wordlessly, in spite of his brave self. He was on the beach to meditate on his BSBI program plans and the coming evaluation! He lost his thoughts–but regained his speech.

“Who are you?” Manny asked. That question started a love story. For, with just one look into the Princess’ eyes, Manny felt all the world of care come alive in his–until today–loveless heart. It seemed as if those eyes communicated all the beatutiful reasons there were to live one’s life…

Attraction and love, after all, need not coin syllables that the tongue would be hard put to utter. Here, all that mattered was the way they looked into each other’s eyes–and that was that. MU. No, not Memorial Union, but mutual understanding, silly

They agreed to meet next day.

But–tragedy of tragedies! When the Princess reached the beach, someone else was with Manny. He explained,”This is my friend at the university, Mary Ann. I am debating out loud as to how I could make our school’s BSBI program the best in the Middle East.” (Now, that would give you a clue that the beach would be somewhere in the Gulf region, wouldn’t it? Bahrain, for one…)

“And Mary Ann,” Manny continued, “has this gentle heart to listen to my outpourings…”

Wrong! Never ever say that to a woman you love…for reasons which only the heart in love knows!

“And I don’t have the gentle heart?” the Princess asked wordlessly.

(There you are! I told you so!)

Manny felt her pain. In all fairness to Manny, he kept his mouth shut, and looked at the Princess with a world of apology in his eyes.

In despair, the Princess took out her wand (that Harry Potter had borrowed and returned after the filming of the Potter series) and transformed the beach into a desert! Then she disappeared with a flourish in her arms.

“Where are we…?” Mary Ann asked, bewildered.

“In the desert of passion…” Manny murmured. He was sad, of course. After all, he really loved the Princess, as his relationship with Mary Ann was purely platonic. But Mary overheard Manny’s thought–because it was normal for a girl, who somehow fancied the man, to overhear his thoughts. She was sad.

But suddenly, Sir Andrew came upon them with his camera, and Manny was quick to remind her, “Put on a happy face…there, that’s good! Pretend we are happy! We’ll get the ahng of it! There now!”

Sir Andrew took a picture of them both–the one above, see?–after expressing his surprise over how the beach suddenly became a desolate desert. Manny and Mary just looked at each other…

Meantime, our Princess, back in her kingdom, told herself, “From now on, I will never fancy a mortal.”

It was unfortunate–for even in a fairy world, the Law of Attraction also operated. And that meant that the minute you said something you wouldn’t do, you would somehow do it. Ever heard of the “Return of the Repressed”?

But, meantime, our Princess turned to watching–not sands and oceans anymore but flowers. That was why wherever she went, you would see flowers. You might see only date palms, but once the Princess passed them by, you would catch a scent of flowers.

Sir Andrew–he would normally be in his office at AMAIUB on work days–who traveled back and forth between the world of humans and fairies to take pictures, was lucky enough to be allowed by the Princess to see her, and take her picture as well. On one condition, the Princess told him: Sir Andrew would never say a word about it to Manny.

The minute she said the word “Manny,” the Princess fell ill. Didn’t I say there was this thing called the “Return of the Repressed”?

Sir Andrew thought he heard the Princess speak Arabic when she was expressing her sadness. Sir Andrew loved that language, and learned it by heart. But the Princess didn’t say anything anymore, so he left.

Alone again, the Princess asked herself, “Why should I bleed with sorrow over someone who seems not to care at all? Besides, Manny and I are from two different worlds.” She thought Tom Jones sang that phrase somewhere in the past.

Singing! That’s the solution.

And that’s another tragedy!

For in the fairy world, if you sing your heart out to cover up some pain, you would increase you fairy weight–and that meant one thing: you couldn’t fly. Vibrations still operated in the enchanted realm. The heavier you are, the more difficult the teleportation by the vibration of the wand. (I don’t know, of course, if this is true…I might just have made this up…)

“Then why are you writing it here?” the Princess asked.

“To tease you a bit.” Now that wasn’t me; it was another’s voice…

“Azkals!” the Princess exclaimed. “You could see me?!”

“But of course, Dear Princess! We are your knights in shining football!”

Sounds fun! The Princess decided to join the Azkals–and she started to lose weight–especially the weight on her heart that unrequited love had created.

And wonder of wonders, happiness radiated from her inner being–such happiness of Simply Being!!!

From that moment on, with the wind of change beneath her wings (oh, goodness, these are all songs!), the Princess flew to heights of Joy that she even mastered Computer Technology during her spare time!

Curious to know how she looked days after she found Manny out with Mary Ann?

Like this–which the Princess labelled ”Before.”

And what about After? I knew you’d ask that:-)

Here:-)

Smiling, now that she had come to terms with her now marginal grief, the Princess said to herself, “Welcome, Rolou Lyn, to the world of new found Joy!”

And having said that, she caught the setting sun, held it on the palm of her hand, and blessed it with Joy, saying: “Thou shalt no longer be associated with endings, but with beginnings of countless beautiful tomorrows–as I am, today, and everyday, for the rest of my life!”

This is an article about bad habits.
But what is a bad habit?
We all have them and are constantly told that we have this or that "Bad Habit".

The question is, how do you define a bad habit?

What is really bad or what is good?

What is a bad babit?

I decided to investigate this after being repremanded by hubby the other day that I have a bad habit of getting over excited

whenever I get upset or cranky for being rather vocal. True, perhaps – just one of my ‘no-no’s’.

After doing my research this is what I discovered.

According to the dictionary, the word ‘bad’ means something that is not good or off as in ‘the milk is off’. Good, the opposite of bad is that which is acceptable.

Habit – dictionary defination of the word is regular practice or usage.

Old world meaning is ‘to clothe’.

So, a habit is something you wear as in a monk’s habit, or something we say or do regularly ( mostly without thinking about it ), as in swearing and cussing or in being late for an appointment.

There are so many more of the so called unacceptable social habits that I wouldn’t mention for fear of not getting this piece published.

That being said, I’d like to list some of my bad habits ( apart from the one already mentioned ), and I’m sure that anyone reading this could probably add a few of their own.

So here goes – My Bad Habits go something like this – - -

B – is for believing in God.

A – is for accepting others for who they are.

D – is for daring to dream.

H – is for having the courage to stand up for what I believe in.

A – is for always finding time to watching a sunset.

B – is for being the best person I can be.

I – is for increasing my knowledge to better understand life.

T – is for turning a frown upside down on someone’s face.

S – is for seeing the potential for improvment in any situation.

Hope you enjoyed reading this, and on a final note on the subject – - -

With BAD HABITS like these, who needs GOOD ONES ?

RESEARCH -

Heineman Australian Dictionary.

Google Search.

Wikipedia.

Every day is a new day. Every day brings new joy. Every day invokes new problems. Each day can carry a lot of concern.
You decide you’ll just be happy today. And just so you decide the next day.

Do not be always worried. Do not worry about everything. Do not worry about small things. If you are worried about small things, they can become big problems. Let the small things stay small things and not always worry about them.
Do not worry, be happy.

It is time to Seize every moment.

It is time to be grateful for every moment. It’s time to live in the present moment.

The only day that will never get it ”tomorrow”. When ”tomorrow” comes, it becomes today.

It is time to do anything you want to do. Expand your world view. Expand your mind. Allow yourself the best. You deserve only the best.

Let not be so many important things are not quite so important. Do not devote your precious time to what you boring and irrelevant, or not comfortable.

Living your life with love, joy and peace. You live a full life.

Be grateful. Be happy. Enjoy the little things. Then little things can bring great pleasure. Enjoy the sunrise. Enjoy the sunset. Enjoy every orbit of the sun. Enjoy the trajectory of your life.

Always look positive side. Certainly there is always a positive side. In the worst moments it is possible to find a bright side.

Do not think that your problems are big. They are so insignificant. Remember that there is something much bigger. Much larger than anything in this universe.
There is …

Unique ways of expressing love to your partner.

There are many ways in which we can express our love for those dearest to us but few people come up with unique and interesting ideas to do so. Below I have listed some of the most popular and creative ways to show your loved one how much you really care, in the most original way possible.

Love Letter

Cuddle

Always Listen

Spend Time Together

Cook For Them

Write Them A Poem/Song

Dedicate A Song To Them

Take A Bath Together

Go See A Movie Together

Whisper I Love You Into Their Ear

Give Them A Backward Hug

Sing To Them (Even If You Can’t)

Take A Shower Together

Do All Of The Housework

Stroll Along The Beach Together

Go Horse Riding Together

Candlelit Dinner

Watch Sunsets & Sunrises Together

Chocolates

Teddy Bears

Roses

Mushy Greeting Cards

Use Pet Names

Propose!

Perhaps the latter on that list isn’t essential, especially if you are not that far into your relationship yet to be making such decisions. Either way, the above ideas are a must if you’re looking to spice things up and make your loved one fall for you over and over and over again. Choose the ways that work for you and don’t do something you just couldn’t handle, they will know how serious or you are. Best of luck in life and happy romancing!

We can use an analog wrist watch as a compass to find directions.

Nowadays, cell phones come with GPS capability that will enable a user to know his locations and find his destinations. Before GPS became one of the features of modern cell phones there were stand alone GPS devices which were bulky. They were primarily used by the travelers, the military, and the transportation industries like airline and shipping for navigation.

Knowing where to find the cardinal directions can help one navigate a place. However, not all the time one can have his cell phone or compass to do it. But he can still find directions by the use of his analog wristwatch. And the sun must be there up in the sky.

The earth is a sphere. An imaginary horizontal line at the middle of the sphere that divides its lower and upper half is called the equator. The upper half is referred to as the northern hemisphere while the lower half is the southern hemisphere.

Following are methods on how to find directions with the use of your wrist watch and the sun. Do not look directly at the sun because it might permanently damage your eyes.

If you are in the Northern Hemisphere:

Position your wrist or hold the watch so that it is horizontal and parallel to the ground.

Point the hour hand of the watch towards the sun.

Visualize an imaginary line that traverses halfway between the hour hand and the number 12. It is the north-south line.

If you are in the Southern Hemisphere:

Position your wrist or hold the watch so that it is horizontal and parallel to the ground.

Point the number twelve towards the sun.

Visualize an imaginary line that traverses halfway between the number 12 and the hour hand. It is the north-south line.

If you don’t know which point of the imaginary line is north or south, recall where the sun rose, and you can make an approximate direction of the north or the south. You know that wherever you are the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. If you are facing east, the north is on your left and the south is on your right. When you are facing the sunset the north is on your right and the south is on your left. Also remember that if you are facing north the east is on your right and the west on your left. And if you are facing south the east is on your left and the west is on your right.

Are you ready to have the best week of your life? Try this out and see how your week fares.

You know how?

Nope, not talking about the weekend.

To have a great week, you have to start with the beginning.

Right on Monday morning. No longer to be the Red Headed Step-child of the week, Monday will start with a bang. Rise with the sun, and just wind up and get ready to kick the week’s metaphorical ass. Go to bed early and eager to wake up the next morning – with a santa clause expecting child like grin.

When you get up, do something you love:

Listen to your favorite album, write something new and exciting, take the dog for a walk, kick on some running shoes and go for a jog, make a delicious breakfast.

Sit and meditate, or clean the house. Watch re-runs of your favorite cartoon before work or school.

Whatever it is that will really kick start your week, let yourself get up early and do it!

Let that momentum carry you through the week. Be present and mindful during all of the things that you do.

Who is anyone to tell you Monday isn’t a good day? Be positive. Be excited.

You only get one life, and yours is right here in this fixated bag of flesh and good intentions.

Seize every Monday as the beginning of a new week – Monday should be a holiday. Monday should be like Christmas morning for Buddhists. There is no struggle with getting up early. You know, where you wake up and just know it’s going to be a good day. Have that attitude, seize the carpe out of that diem.

Why can’t this be your best week ever?

Give it a try.

An account of how the economy is touching us all.

As the economy woes of our country continue I watch as family and friends struggle to get by. Houses and farms have been lost, and wages have been cut all across the nation. I too have been touched by this downward spiral as I now begin to sell things I accumulated during better times in order to help get through the long cruel winter looming ahead.

My Harley Davidson was my friend that never once let me down. My Sportster and I had seen many miles of the southeast together. Allowing me to travel to places I would have otherwise never been able to afford to go and allowing me the most beautiful views along the way.

Many will read this and say boo hoo you had to sell your bike …so what…we all are suffering. Well I did in all reality just sell a motorcycle during hard times just as thousands more have done before me. But in my heart and mind it was if I was Roy Rogers and I just sold Trigger. Many of you won’t know who Roy Rogers was but for those of you who remember you will understand.

Do I regret my decision…of course not, it was the practical one I needed to make at this time for the good of my family. As I work online at night and my regular job during the day I am beginning to see a little brighter spot at the end of the tunnel. As my residual income begins to grow bigger each month it gives me a new sense of hope for a better tomorrow.

If you are like me and have had to give up things during this hard time, keep your head up and continue to move forward. Things in this country are slowly beginning to turn around and improve. Perseverance will eventually win out and we will all be a little stronger and wiser from what we have been through. Who knows, maybe my next Harley will be even bigger than the last one. Ride on old friend and may the road forever stretch out in front of you…you will be missed.

Having escaped a religious cult, the promising young actor battled inner demons that eventually consumed him on a fateful Halloween night seventeen years ago.

Speaking to Art Sinnis is akin to speaking to a living library of Hollywood knowledge. Sinnis’ Hollywood story began as a grip in the early 1980s before working his way up to stage production with a number of television shows. One of those productions was an after school special titled Backwards: The Riddle of Dyslexia. It was during filming of Backwardsthat Sinnis first met the then 15 year old River Phoenix. Even though Sinnis was nearly ten years older, he struck up a quick friendship with Phoenix, a teen “much older than his years” according to Sinnis.

“Even then, so early in his career, you could see this kid was going to a big-big star. He just had IT. The charisma, the charm, the intelligence – everything. A lovely guy. Great sense of humor. Very polite to the entire crew. It was a short little production, but River left a mark with the network bigs with that one little performance, and I knew more work was heading his way. And we became friends. I was like an older brother I guess.”

Sinnis was correct. By next year River was offered his first major picture role in the science fiction film Explorers. Following that came yet more films, such as Stand By Me, Running on Empty, and My Own Private Idaho. River’s career had entered the higher echelons of the young Hollywood elite.

“Most times somebody gets that big that fast, friendships fall off, but not River. He kept in touch, we hung out, partied, had some good times. River played a nice guitar and I remember spending hours in his little one bedroom apartment with about 20 other people while River played and sang. The girls…well the girls were in awe of him of course. And River loved girls. He had his pick and yeah, he was enjoying that part of his celebrity for sure.” Sinnis sits back in the large leather chair of his office and takes a deep draw on the cigarette he’s been nursing since the interview began. His eyes well up slightly, and a long, slow exhale of smoke escapes a frowning mouth.

“Shit. I think about River all the time, especially around this time of year. Yeah, I was with him that night. Halloween. Depp’s place. He was there, and then he was gone. Just like that. Fuck. Just like that.”

The place Sinnis is referencing is the Viper Room, an establishment started and co-owned by then-Hollywood bad-boy Johnny Depp, who back in 1993 was far removed from the more family-friendly mega-star family man Depp is today. Depp enjoyed the celebrity dark side as much as any, and fellow actor River Phoenix, a frequent inhabitant of the dark, seedy, young celebrity-littered club that was the Viper Room, embraced that darkness with equal relish.

“That was one of River’s fatal flaws,” says Sinnis. “He despised Hollywood – but not quite as much as he loved the environment of celebrity. He loved hanging out with other actors and artists. He loved having that access to that world. And he was just insecure enough to feel like he had to prove himself able to hang with people like Flea, and Penn. By ‘93 River had made some money, had some fame, and he wanted to have fun with people who could relate to that kind of thing. It was that insecurity thing that was the hang up though. You see, River came from a very fucked up place. His family was a mess. Moved around a lot. Spent years in a religious cult when River was a kid. Possible abuse. His parents loved him and all, I don’t doubt that, but the environment for those kids was just terrible. River kind of built this wall around him – he was a lot tougher than people gave him credit for. He had to be. You don’t survive that much time with a bunch of religious nutjobs and come out of it mostly intact without being tough. River was tough – but just tough enough to think he was too tough, and it caught up to him that night. The fucking drugs. They got him. Laid him out and took him right there in front of us.”

That night, October 31st, 1993, River Phoenix spent at the Viper Room partying with other celebrities as he had done so many times before. His younger brother Joaquin and sister Rain were with him. Johnny Depp was playing music onstage with mutual friend Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, as well as Gibby Haynes of the Butthole Surfers. The mood was raucous, the drink and drug flowing throughout the club, significant. At some point River made his way to the bathroom with a small entourage of friends and a dealer to take a combination of heroin and cocaine – better known as a speedball. It is the same combination that killed entertainers John Belushi in 1983, as well as Chris Farley in 1997.

Sinnis continued. “Look, River was no drug fiend. No fucking way. He was a dabbler. Smoked weed. Drank a little, and yeah, did a bit of coke from time to time. The heroin thing…that was a new one. Something a little different that night. Maybe he had done some of that before, but I never saw it, and I had been partying with the guy for quite a while by then. River could party, but I rarely saw him out of control with it. He always seemed to know when to pull it back. He was given some bad shit that night. Some serious drugs. It wasn’t just run of the mill heroin but some hard-ass shit. I don’t know if he even knew what really hit him. What he was taking, you know? He’s having a good time, gets handed some drugs and there you have it. I didn’t see him take it – but I saw him start to go down. Saw him looking bad. And it happened so fucking fast. Unbelievably fast.”

Numerous reports indicate shortly after ingesting the speedball, Phoenix remarked to those around him he was feeling sick. Someone then gave him a dose of diazepam – a drug commonly utilized to counter the effects of over stimulation by drugs. It was that administration of diazepam that quickly escalated River Phoenix’s condition from a possible drug overdose, to quick and sudden death. Diazepam actually worsens the physiological effects of heroin, both accelerating and compounding its effects on the person’s cardiovascular system. Had Phoenix been dealing with only an overdose of cocaine, the diazapam might have saved his life. What it did though was quickly metabolize the heroin into a lethal dose. Whoever gave River Phoenix the diazapam killed the young actor that night.

‘Yeah, I heard about the diazapam thing. Heard that someone gave it to him to help him feel better. Yeah, that killed him probably. I talked to a drug counselor about it years later and they told me that was probably the case. If he hadn’t taken that, River probably could have just gone to the emergency room and had a fighting chance of coming out of it ok. His body would have had some time to deal with the overdose. But the diazapam…that just sealed the deal right there on that sidewalk outside the club. Killed him dead. Fucking gone like that.” Sinnis wiped his eyes.

Within minutes of ingesting the diazepam, Phoenix stumbled outside, struggling to maintain consciousness. His brother and sister followed him, repeatedly asking if he was ok. The music of Depp, Flea, and Haynes continued to play onstage. Few noticed Phoenix leaving, and fewer still yet knew just how close to death the young actor now was.

Upon getting himself outside Phoenix sat down on the sidewalk and hung his head below his knees, mumbling to his brother that he was having trouble breathing. Then he fell to the side and the convulsions began. Within five minutes, the convulsions ceased, and River Phoenix showed no signs of life. 911 had been called, while his sister Rain attempted CPR. Flea had jumped off the stage and now stood outside over River’s body, holding his head in his hands and yelling for his friend not to die. Paramedics arrived, confirmed no vitals, but continued to attempt to revive the 23 year old actor as they rushed him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“That’s when I saw him. I heard he was sick outside and I came out and saw him laying over the curb. His body was shaking…it…” Sinnis cannot continue for several moments. He turns away and a few short sobs escape him, followed by a deep breath, and then he continues.

“He was in a real bad way, I could see that. But even then I thought he was gonna be ok – at least for a moment or two I thought that, but then it got real fucking bad real fucking quick. He was making these sounds, like he…couldn’t fucking breath. His eyes were all rolled back in his head. Shit was coming out of his mouth. I had to turn away. When I saw the shit coming out his mouth that’s when I thought he might really die. I couldn’t handle that. I stood back against the wall and just started crying. Flea was screaming. His sister was screaming. His brother was screaming for the ambulance to get there. A crowd started to gather. Flea was threatening people to get back in the fucking club. To not stare. To give River some room. He looked like he was ready to kill somebody. I think he would have if somebody had said the wrong thing at that time. The guy would go from livid anger to a crying mess and then back again in the space of a minute. By the time the ambulance got there River was gone. I could see that. It was just a body. River was fucking gone. That was it. My friend was gone.”

River Phoenix, among the most promising actors of his generation, died on the street outside a Sunset Strip club on Halloween Night, 1993.

Art Sinnis entered drug rehabilitation in 1998. He states he has been clean ever since. He no longer works in Hollywood, though says he stays in touch with some of his old Hollywood friends.

Each Halloween Night following River’s death until he sold the Viper Club in 2004, Johnny Depp ordered the club to be closed on October 31st. Sinnis says Depp would sometimes sit in the club alone on that night, with just a drink, a cigarette, and the still-painful memories of a departed friend keeping him company in the darkness.
