Is America Will War Again? Hundreds Tank Seen In California.

This amateur video was filmed in Santa Cruz, California, United States (U.S.) on Friday, where hundreds of tanks and military vehicles transported by train.

According to Andrew Tuckman who filmed the incident, he was very surprised at the number of vehicles that moved this war.

“Why would these vehicles be removed?”

“What’s going to happen going forward with this event?”

“Barack Obama, what are you up to? We want answers.”

Even some people question where do these military vehicles were taken and whether it will re-sign the American war.

Some are saying the vehicles are old and do not worry or be afraid of a war.

Clearly if the green color of the vehicle that war is certainly not a desert battlefield in the sand like Iraq, Libya, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan or other middle eastern.

Tanks do not need roads. They can be driven across fields and over rough, hilly ground. When in combat, crew members can see out through the periscopes – instruments with mirrors that enable a person to see things out of the direct line of vision. Periscopes are also used by submarine crews to see above the water’s surface when the submarine is submerged.

Tank crews consist of a commander, a driver, and several gunners (depending on the number of guns on the tank). They communicate with other tanks and headquarters by means of two-way radios.

During World War II, some specialized tanks were developed. Guns called flame throwers were attached to tanks, enabling them to set fire to their targets. Tanks that could move through water (called amphibious tanks) were important in battles in the Pacific and in landing troops off the coast of Europe.

A tank is a large, armored military vehicle first used by Great Britain during World War I. A tank is powered by a large diesel engine. It moves on continuous metal track, which is turned by the wheels around which the tracks rotate. This type of continuous belt allows a tank to travel over rough and hilly land, so it can go places that soldiers cannot otherwise go.

A tank is basically a huge, movable gun platform. The body of the tank, protected with thick steel, sits above the tractor-like wheels. The tank crew works inside this part of the tank.

A rotating turret containing the tank’s large gun or cannon is the top part of the body. Other machine guns are also located in the body. A hatch, or opening, at the top allows the crew to enter and leave the tank.

How one Russian got more than he bargained for when he bought some wooden crates for firewood.

Itzhevsk Arsenal Museum, Russia

An article on the BBC website has brought a whole new meaning to the words “fire” wood.

An inhabitant of the Russian village of Udmurtia bought some crates with the aim of using them for firewood but discovered that, with this innocent purchase he had also gained his own armoury! Some of the crates contained Kalashnikov rifles and parts!!

The man who had bought 64 crates off the back of a lorry, discovered he had 79 Kalashnikov rifles and parts in total. Thankfully he was totally honest and reported this treasure trove to a local policeman who put into action a thorough investigation as to how they had found their way into the public domain.

The investigations unearthed that the army issue rifles had been delivered for scrap to Izhmash arms plant in Izhevsk, the crates had then be used for collecting rubbish before the lorry driver, working for a private firm, had been tasked with transporting the rubbish to a local dump. However, on the journey to the waste disposal site he thought he could make a few roubles on the side and sold off the crates thinking they had all been empty! Amongst this stock (plus lock and barrel!) were rifles, magazines and other rifle parts.

Unfortunately the powers that be are not entirely satisfied with the explanation and a fuller investigation is underway to decide whether these rifles were in fact thrown out accidentally or whether there’s a more sinister reason for them being in the crates. It’s now being considered that perhaps the weapons were being smuggled through to an organisation who would consequently sell them off illegally.

It’s known that the crates were initially taken to the high security installation so it seems extremely unlikely the weapons would have been overlooked. If they were overlooked then I suspect the boss of the installation may well find himself fired from his position as well as being under fire from prosecutors!!

By way of a bit of background. The Kalashnikov rifle was developed by one Mikhail Kalashnikov who was born in 1919. He had 18 siblings! In 1938 just prior to the second world war he was conscripted into the notorious Red Army and became a tank driver and mechanic, eventually being elevated to the rank of Senior Sergeant. He was injured in 1941 during the second world war and, during his six months in hospital recuperating, he spoke to some of his comrades who stressed they were dissatisfied with the current weapons that the army were issuing. So Kalashnikov set about designing a new sub machine gun. Unfortunately it was dismissed by the services but it could instantly be seen that Kalashnikov had the potential to produce something out of the ordinary and so began his rifle designing career, culminating in his “claim to fame”, the well respected, internationally renowned Kalashnikov.

It’ll certainly be interesting to learn whether this discovery was just down to negligence or indeed whether the arms were illegally destined for some far flung battle zone!

Known variants of tanks with flamethrower (Soviet OT-26 OT-34-76-based T-34 mod. 1942, OT-34-85, American flamethrower tank «Satan» («Satan”), based on Stewart).

The main difference between the tank from the other tracked combat vehicles with cannon armament is the ability to quickly shift the fire in a wide range of angles of elevation and horizontal angles. In most cases, this opportunity is realized through the installation of the gun in a rotating turret in the horizontal plane, although there are a few exceptions (in a unique Swedish tank Strv-103 for pickup the gun used by the rotation and tilt housing with adjustable hydropneumatic suspension, the first samples of tank gun mounted in the sponsons on the sides of the hull). Self-propelled artillery unit can be very similar to a tank structurally, but is designed to solve other problems: the destruction of enemy tanks from ambush or fire support to troops from the closed fire position, and therefore has a different balance of armor and weapons.

                WW1, lasted from 1914-1918

                Allies fight central powers

Millions of troops fight and die

                Dug trenches for protection

                Armies create stalemate breaking technology

Tank is born, invulnerable to enemy fire

Helped allies win despite being dangerous to operate

2. Causes

New inventions- machine gun and deadly artillery

                Soldiers begin digging for protection

                Make large networks

Armies use charge tactics, lose millions.

                Battle of Verdun

- 1 million Germans vs 200,000 French + reinforcements

- 550,000 German losses, 430,000 French.

- Neither side gains territory

Old tactics are futile

3. Specifications/early use

                Enter service in 1916

                Battle of Somme

- 24 tanks and infantry capture several cities

- Enemy artillery and machine guns focus on tanks

- Allies win even though both sides had equal armaments except for the tanks

Later models have more guns/stronger engines/ separation of engine and crew

Can keep up with charging infantry

Average life span- 20 miles- forces troops to constantly wait

4. Help protect infantry

Even earliest models could withstand enemy fire

Soldiers wait behind while tanks charge and clear the way

Would advance in small columns behind tanks for protection

4a. effective war machine

                Battle of Cambrai

- 450 tanks

- 800 soldiers and 100 guns captures, tens of thousands dead on first day alone

- Tanks have potential when operating in groups and not alongside infantry

Clear that the army with the most tanks would win the war.

Dangerous to operate- fumes from engine, bullet casings, lots of moving parts.

5. psychological aspects

Demoralize and make troops surrender instead of fight

                Quote

German Defenders find their weapons useless à surrender or desert

                Battle of Amiens

- Almost 700 tanks, 7 divisions of infantry

- 15000 German Soldiers captured +entire German regiments desert in a single day

- Not a single tank lost

2nd Battle of the Marne

- 350 tanks vs 0

- Where ever tanks go resistance stops

- Huge territory gains and little casualties

6. Conclusion

                Repeat thesis

                Born out of trench warfare

                Remobilizes the war

Invulnerable and fast enough to keep up with infantry

Section 6- conclusion

The Tank, although highly unreliable and dangerous to the operating crew, aided the Allies in victory over the Central Powers by diffusing enemy resistance, both physically and psychologically. Heavily armored tracked machines were born out of the necessity to break the trench warfare stalemate, and have achieved above and beyond its expectations. This outstanding war machine single handedly remobilized the war, allowing the Allies to continue gaining vast territories. Being tough enough to withstand enemy fire and strong enough to carry heavy weaponry into the heart of battles, the Tank provided the Allies with the edge they needed to turn the tide of the war in their favor.

Section 5- 4th paragraph

The Tank holds yet another aspect crucial to winning battles with little casualties- demoralizing troops and striking fear into their hearts, to force them to surrender instead of trying to fight back. A German soldier wrote in a captured journal, “we heard strange throbbing noises, and lumbering slowly towards us came three huge mechanical monsters such as we had never seen before… machine guns on swivels poked out from each side. When the monster came nearby my trench, I thought of nothing but running away before it could get me.” The same situations happened everywhere tanks were deployed. After finding that their weapons are useless against the mechanical monsters, most German troops simply surrendered, saving many lives on both sides. This is demonstrated at the Battle of Amiens, where 7 divisions on allied infantry backed up by almost 700 tanks charged German lines. During the first day, the Allies captured 15,000 German soldiers, and did not lose a single tank. Also, entire regiments of German infantry began deserting their armies, infuriated by the technological disadvantage of the Germans. At the Second Battle of the Marne, 55 Allied divisions attacked 52 German divisions, and their main difference in armaments was that the Allies had 350 tanks while the Germans had none. In every part of the battle where a pack of Tanks charged the opposing forces, resistance seemed to have melted away in front of the advancing armies, resulting in large territory gains and little casualties for the Allies. It is evident that the mere presence of tanks had a large psychological effect on enemy troops, causing them to run and hide instead of making a futile last stand.
