How is Lily Liu persuasive in convincing her readers that teachers deserve a pay rise?

Year 10 Language Analysis Week 1, Term 1, 2012.

Lily Liu clearly defined is she was and why she is the best person to write about of teachers striking for better pay. Lily clearly shows her point of view. She talks positively about her teachers.

Lily uses repetition to get her point across. In paragraph two, Lily repeats the phrase ‘I know for a fact’ five times. This shows that she knows what she is talking about. She knows what teachers do behind the scenes and that is definitely not just to teach a class for a period or two each day. No, they also help their students in areas they are unsure of and they must also work overtime to prepare the materials for the next day.

Lily uses anecdotes in this letter. She talks about how all her teachers are willing to help her out and her close relationship with her teachers. The student-teacher relationships are so close that they can be called friends. Through her own personal stories, Lily was able to show the readers how important teachers are to their students.

In the last paragraph, Lily indirectly blames the officials who decide teachers’ wages. She doesn’t blame the teachers who aren’t teaching their classes and are on strike. She agrees with the teachers in that they should receive higher pay for what their hard work.

Overall, I think Lily’s letter to The Age is very persuasive and can sway readers into supports for teachers.

Surely, many parents know of the horror that comes the first time their child brings home a paper with a low grade on it. Syntax and grammatical errors abound, attention to detail is lackluster at best, and the paper essentially sounds like it was written, translated into another language and then translated back.

Many children struggle with writing, but it doesn’t have to be this way. In fact, in short time, a mediocre young writer can become a good one. Here are five ways:

1. Set aside a time for journal writing: This is something, admittedly, that should be happening in school with second and third graders at a perfect age to begin basic freeform composition. If this isn’t happening, give a kid 15 or 20 minutes each day to jot down their thoughts, practice writing for themselves, and hone their craft. And consider transfering schools.

2. Work with a child on their writing: Let me address this one personally, as I remember how I got my start in writing. Early in third grade, I brought home a report I’d written on the sun that I’d gotten a well-deserved D on, for lackadaiscal focus and scant information. Sitting me down at the kitchen table, my dad proceeded to work with me until I was regularly getting A’s on my reports on the solar system. It wasn’t always easy work, with me sometimes bursting into tears as my dad methodically taught me attention to detail, but I learned to write reports packed with every bit of pertinent information, as if my reader was from another planet. More than 20 years later now, my father’s lessons are still with me.

3. Insist on reading time: Sports Illustrated columnist Joe Posnanski was asked by a baseball website in 2010 what advice he’d give to an aspiring sportswriter. He replied:

“I always say that, to me, it starts with reading. This is something I tell high school kids, college kids, people trying to get into the business, that it’s just so much about reading. Read, read, read. So much of everything else falls into place when you just do a ton of reading. It works on so many different levels. When you’re reading, obviously, it gives you the knowledge, the background and that sort of thing. But also it helps you, I really believe, form words in your mind. It gives you an idea of how things need to be written, it gives you style points. There’s just so many things, some of them very much below the surface.”

4. Give kids ways to publicly showcase their writing: With the rise of the Internet, it’s easier than ever for anyone to write for an audience. One thing some parents are doing is allowing their children to start their own blogs, albeit with appropriate levels of supervision. Children thrive on positive reinforcement and can build their confidence sharing their work publicly. In time, it can lead to other writing opportunities.

5. If all else fails, hire a writing tutor: There’s no shame in engaging tutors. Often times, they can offer expertise and hands-on instruction outside the normal parental realm.

Denise James, a writing tutor, is a retired teacher and now opens a small tutoring center that help tutors kids in math, science and writing. During her free time she loves to write and travel around Asia.

I am a investigative reporter, and boy do I have news for you!

First of all, I would like to let you know that there are many special education teachers who, day in and day out advocate for special education children, and teach your child to the best of their abilities. The fact is that these teachers are not being supported, and are being made to put their license on the line, and first and foremost serve the local high-profile students first. What do I mean by high-profile students? I mean students whose parents are school administrators, lawyers, local politicians, or work for some other local high-profile organization. That’s right, if you are not one of these parents, then you need to investigate whether or not your child is being served properly, according to his IEP. The excuse that the administration give the teachers for this behavior, is that they do not have enough money to hire enough special education teachers. Let me take a moment here and educate you as to what that statement actually means. Not having enough money does not mean that the state or the city does not have enough money to hire teachers. What it means is that they did not budget enough money to hire the teachers necessary to accomplish the balanced service of special education students. They have budgeted many thousands of dollars in states such as South Carolina, for roads, highways, and research to stop flooding on city streets, and at the same time laid off teachers. Oh, of course they don’t call it a layoff, they cover that by calling teachers positions slots, and just tell you the parents that there are no slots left. The parents tend to buy into what the school system says, because the school system is very good at covering their tracks. At this point you may be asking how I know these things, and where I was able to acquire my information. I have been a special education teacher in two states and in at least three major counties. I have relatives who are teachers in other states, so my information is about as inside as it gets. In fact you can hang your hat on it. As I am writing this I am in contact with state officials and am trying to create a task force for this very purpose. I don’t know if I will be able to pull this off without the backing of many parents with children having special needs, and attending public schools. Now that you understand that I am in contact with many special education teachers, I want you to know the unbelievable truth, and that is that when these teachers complain that they are serving high-profile cases, and they are not able to find the time to serve others, that do not have parents in high places, they are threatened, they are told that they will lose their jobs if they say the wrong thing, they are given extra work to do, sometimes in an attempt to have teachers quit if they rock the boat. The teacher knows that the administration will not back them and that their licenses on the line. Yet they also know that they will be fired if they say or do the wrong thing. Many teachers have contacted me in tears, and believe me it is not just one or two, nor is it just one school system, but many. The sole purpose of this article is to let you know the truth, so that if you have a child who is in special education and you are not one of those high-profile cases, the first thing you should do after reading this article is get on the telephone with your school system and find out exactly what services your child is getting, and when they are getting them. some of you will be shocked to find that your child may not have been served properly for many months. The heart of the law that protects our special education students is based on equality. If the state does not have enough teachers to be in compliance with the law, shame on them. I would call your governor’s office, your senator’s office, your state education office, and let your legislators know how you feel about the situation. Don’t stand silent, silence does not change things. Although the school system itself is completely upside down and a mess, overall throughout the country, it is in the area of special education that we fail I students the most. Don’t believe for a moment that is the teachers fault when children don’t learn, and that we have to create programs to keep good teachers and classrooms, and get rid of the bad ones. The truth is good teachers are being taken out of classrooms by mandated education, and in services that they have to perform or they will not be able to keep their certification. When good teachers are not in classrooms, children don’t learn. we all have heard it said that the squeaky wheel gets the oil, well, I am telling you it does. I have found many cases where special education students have not been served properly since October or November of 2011. if I were a parent of a special education student, I would certainly want to know if it was my child they were talking about. Because the teachers have integrity, and because of the privacy laws, the teachers I interviewed could not give names, dates, or any information other than an overall picture of what is happening to the students and how the administration is putting the pressure on the teachers to comply with the administration’s political agenda. Being an investigative reporter with integrity, I have withheld all names of school systems, teachers, and administrators who were honest enough, and caring enough to help get this warning out to parents of special needs children.

Growing up, Chris was among the smartest of his friends. He could do complex math from an early age, built sophisticated class projects, and turned in papers that were invariably well-crafted and thought-provoking. He looked like a future ambassador or diplomat, and only one area seemed to consistently hold Chris back: reading. For most of his childhood, Chris was an atrocious speller and a constant source of amusement to his friends with his mispronunciation of words. It’s a little cruel, but it’s what kids do.

For years, people just joked that Chris was a bad speller, with Chris himself even offering this assesment. Eventually, though, a specialist was able to discover the source of Chris’s problem, that he was partially dyslexic. In time, with a little help, Chris got over his problem and became ever stronger academically. He even went to college on a full academic scholarship, and thrived there as well. Today, he does highly-placed government work, and it’s doubtful any of his colleagues know he once pronounced the word Phoenix as “Puff Uh Neex”

Kids like Chris show the benefits that specialists can offer. No longer is the word special just applied to slow children when referenced in terms of education. No, smart kids, as well, can benefit from the occasional powwow with reading tutors, speech therapists, and other educational professionals.

Ahead of the first trip to see a specialist, here are a few ways to help children read better:

1. Be cognizant, not dismissive, of any struggles a child may be having: It can be easy to chalk a kid’s educational shortcomings up to general imperfections, and certainly, it’s typically good practice to recognize that no one’s perfect academically. But as Chris’s case shows, what may be seen as a lovable quirk can also be a sign of a deeper, addressable issue, one worth tackling early lest it snowball. Pay attention to it.

2. Don’t tolerate bullying by other children: Chris had a good enough head on his shoulders and a secure enough sense of self to take good-natured ribbing from his friends in stride. If all the teasing fazed him, it was never outwardly apparent. For many other kids, though, getting chided for their literary struggles can have a noticeable and stifling effect on their desire to read. Any parent or teacher would do well to be on the lookout for bullying or teasing, being quick to nip it in the bud.

3. Work diligently on reading with a child: A parent may have their work cut out for them on helping their child boost their literary abilities. Besides simply reading with their children and helping with test prep, parents have a lot of other things they can do to help them in this regard. It’s important to show kids that it’s okay to learn at their own pace. And while it may be a struggle, good parents are also those who are patient as their children struggle through seemingly basic words. With enough patience, maybe these children will be in their shoes eventually.

That means the parents know them as well. we have got to do better. Sometimes a child is speaking to you without saying a single word.

Coaches, Teachers, Preachers, Priest…so many people that parents trust with the kids. That is why it is sooooooo important for parents to talk and LISTEN to their kids daily. Ask them about their day. Watch their behavior and report anything suspicious. If the school doesnt act go to the police. I do know for a fact that the police wil send you back to the school and tell yo to report it to the school police…It happened when I was a foster mom. But I demanded a report be taken. I didnt allow them to turn me away. A parent has to be the childs voice. They have no one else to do it for them

Over 56,000 cases of child sexual abuse were reported and substantiated in 2007.

As many as one in three girls and one in seven boys will be sexually abused at some point in their childhood.

In as many as 93% of child sexual abuse cases, the child knows the person that commits the abuse.

Most perpetrators are acquaintances, but as many as 47% are family or extended family.

Approximately 30% of cases are reported to authorities. These are SAD facts……only 30% reported….Abusers are bullies…We have got to LISTEN to the children….

Facts about Sex Offenders

Let us see how much we know-and see how much of what we think has been based on the myths we have all heard about sexual assault and sex offenders. Take 5 minutes to complete the True or False Quiz:

Most men who commit sexual offenses do not know their victim. False. 90% of child victims know their offender, with almost half of the offenders being a family member. Of sexual assaults against people age 12 and up, approximately 80% of the victims know the offender.

Most sexual assaults are committed by someone of the same race as the victim. True. Most sexual assaults are committed by someone of the same race as the victim. An exception to this is that people who commit sexual assault against Native Americans are usually not Native American (American Indians and Crime, 1999).

Most child sexual abusers use physical force or threat to gain compliance from their victims. False. In the majority of cases, abusers gain access to their victims through deception and enticement, seldom using force. Abuse typically occurs within a long-term, ongoing relationship between the offender and victim and escalates over time.

Most child sexual abusers find their victims by frequenting such places as schoolyards and playgrounds.

False. Most child sexual abusers offend against children whom they know and with whom they have established a relationship. Many sexual assaults of adult women are considered “confidence rapes,” in that the offender knows the victim and has used that familiarity to gain access to her.

Only men commit sexual assault. False. While most sex offenders are male, sometimes sex offenses are committed by female offenders.

Child sexual abusers are only attracted to children and are not capable of appropriate sexual relationships.

False. While there is a small subset of child sexual abusers who are exclusively attracted to children, the majority of the individuals who sexually abuse children are (or have previously been) attracted to adults.

Victims of sexual assault are harmed only when offenders use force.

False. More than any physical injuries the victim sustains, the violation of trust that accompanies most sexual assaults has been shown to dramatically increase the level of trauma the victim suffers. Emotional and psychological injuries cause harm that can last much longer than physical wounds.

If a child does not tell anyone about the abuse, it is because he or she must have consented to it. False. Children often do not tell for a variety of reasons including the offender’s threats to hurt or kill someone the victim loves, as well as shame, embarrassment, wanting to protect the offender, feelings for the offender, fear of being held responsible or being punished, fear of being disbelieved, and fear of losing the offender who may be very important to the child or the child’s family.

It is common for both child and adult victims of sexual assault to wait some time before telling someone about the abuse. True. It is common for victims of sexual assault to wait some time before telling someone. When the person was assaulted as a child, he or she may wait years or decades. The reasons for this are numerous: victims may want to deny the fact that someone they trusted could do this to them; they may want to just put it behind them; they may believe the myth that they caused the assault by their behavior; or they may fear how other people will react to the truth.

If someone sexually assaults an adult, he will not target children as victims, and if someone sexually assaults a child, he will not target adults. False. Research and anecdotal evidence indicate that while some sex offenders choose only one type of victim (e.g., prepubescent girls, post-pubescent boys, adult women, etc.), others prey on different types of victims. Therefore, no assumptions should be made about an offender’s victim preference and precautions should be taken regardless of his crime of conviction.

It helps the victim to talk about the abuse.

True. The victim’s recovery will be enhanced if she or he feels believed, supported, protected, and receives counseling following the disclosure that s/he was assaulted. However, sexual assault victims should always have the choice about when, with whom, and under what conditions they wish to discuss their experiences.

Sexual gratification is often not a primary motivation for a rape offender.

True. While some offenders do seek sexual gratification from the act, sexual gratification is often not a primary motivation for a rape offender. Power, control, and anger are more likely to be the primary motivators

Offenders could stop their sexually violent behavior on their own if they wanted to.

False. Wanting to change is usually not enough to be able to change the patterns that lead to sexual offenses. To create the motivation to change, some offenders need a variety of treatment and corrective interventions, and for others learning how to make the change in their own behavioral cycle of abuse is more effective.

Men who rape do so because they cannot find a consenting sexual partner.

False. Studies suggest that most rape offenders are married or in consenting relationships.

Drugs and alcohol cause sexual offenses to occur.

False. While drugs and alcohol are often involved in sexual assaults, drugs and alcohol do not cause sexual offenses to occur. Rather, drug and alcohol use may be a disinhibitor for the offender, while being under the influence may increase a potential victim’s vulnerability.

Victims of sexual assault often share some blame for the assault.

False. Adult and child victims of sexual abuse are never to blame for the assault, regardless of their behavior. Because of the age difference, children are unable to legally consent to sexual acts. They are often made to feel like willing participants, which further contributes to their shame and guilt.

If a victim does not say “no” or does not “fight back,” it is not sexual assault.

False. Sexual assault victims may not say “no” or not fight back for a variety of reasons including fear and confusion. Rape victims often report being “frozen” by fear during the assault, making them unable to fight back; other victims may not actively resist for fear of angering the assailant and causing him to use more force in the assault. Pressure to be liked and not be talked about negatively by a peer will sometimes cause adolescents or children to avoid fighting back or actively resisting.

It is time for people to stand up for those that can’t do it for themselves. Why can adults hide behind contracts and say I couldn’t call the police my contract said so? Bull shit!!! When you take on a job working with kids you are morally obligated to protect them.

The government needs to step in and now stay you will be legally obligated as well. Doctors, Teachers, Social workers, Therapists and more are… So should boy and girl scout leaders, sports coaches, foster parents, tutors …anyone that has access to children..

We trust them..they have full access to our children…..They should also be legally obligated to protect them….If they know they are being abused they are just as bad as the abuser…..

They are adult BULLIES…They are Bullying our children..It has got to stop!! Hold them accountable!!!!!!

Be these days the boys are being used and abused by the men that parents trust the most.

Parents need to pay attention when the kids dont want to go to school. practice, church…dont want to be alone with a man…start paying CLOSE attention…. ask questions….dont assume that person YOU trust…is the best person for your child.

Please watch for the signs….If your usually loveable loud happy child is quiet, sad, crying or angry…..ask questions…take them to a counselor…Do not stop asking questions….Find out why he has changed

If you love someone, you make time for them and they make time for you. You feel it and they do. When one of you is hurting, sad, happy, excited or whatever the mood when you are in sync you will know without a single word being said.

This applies to your children as well. When my daughter walks in I can tell when something is on her mind without a word being said. I don’t ignore it. I ask and make time to listen. I let her know she is important to me. You can’t ask someone how their day was then walk away, answer the phone, watch television or start cooking. You have to make time to listen if you ask the question.

Many times people can talk and talk about themselves, but don’t make the time to listen to others. You are no more important than the person listening. Always be observant of those you say you love. If they are unusually quiet, isolated, withdrawn or angry talk to them. Don’t lecture but get them to talk. Listen to what they have to say. You don’t always have to give advice, sometimes all a person needs is someone to listen.

Sometimes all they need is someone to hold them and show they care. Never be to busy for those you claim to love. When my phone rings and my loved ones are talking to me, I let it ring. The television show can wait, the dinner can simmer….when someone you love needs you…and you say you love them…SHOW IT

Saying it all day, all week all year long doesn’t mean a thing …If you aren’t there when it really counts

Know and teach your child the signs of a wrongful touch

Signs of Wrongfull Touch

There are thousands of children’s innocents being violated everyday. The majority of the children that are being wrongfully touched are being wrongfully touched right at home by a family member or a friend of the families. Alot of family members don’t know the signs of misconduct or they overlook the acts of a child thats being wrongfully touched, so in my article through my own experiences of being a child that was wrongfully touched by a family member I hope what I went through will shed a little light on what to look out for:

1.) A child that cry’s continously when you drop them off at a sitters, family members, day care, etc. or cries when you leave them at home with a person and they never use to cry in the past.

2.) When your child tells you that there’s monster in the closet or coming out of a vent and they just can’t sleep because they were told this from the one who is wrongfully touching them.

3.) your child suddenly at night is taking off there clothes and your finding them with no clothes on in the morning.

4.) When your child is suddenly wetting the bed for no apparent reason and they never done that in the past.

5.) If your child is being violated at home your child suddenly is by your side at all times and doesn’t want to leave your side or suddenly they want to start sleeping in your bed with you.

6.) A sign that I noticed is when you ask your child if someone’s doing things to them and they have the look of fear in there eye’s and there very quiet because the one that’s violating them is in the room with both of you when asked.

7.) A dramatic drop in school grades at school and suddenly your getting notices home with your child that there not listening and doing there work during class time.

8.) If your child is female your child will suddenly complain of her private areabeing sore when she uses the restroom or her private area is red routinely even though she was tested for an infection. If male they”ll also complain of there private area hurting as well.

9.) You’ll also notice your child not listening to what there told to do, they have behavioral out breaks and develope an hate attitude towards everything.

10.) You also notice out of no where your child will start calling themselves stupid and they”ll start hitting themselves in the head.

11.) When you child is telling you or someone to touch there private area and giving the private areas nicknames.

12.) When your child is constantly changing there underwear because they feel dirty in that area.

These are a few things that I have experienced and have seen happen with children that have been violated. If you feel your child is being violated don’t be afraid to ask them but do it in a room where no one else is around, reassure your child that it’s ok to tell you and that you wouldn’t get mad and that it’s not there fault, also reassure that if someone told them that they would hurt you or them that is’t not going to happen that it’s all lies, If that’s one thing a violator does is they put fear into children that if they tell that they’ll hurt them or a family member. If your child say’s it’s a family memeber don’t doubt them by thinking no that couldn’t be because I’m sorry to tell you YES it can be and it probably is cause most of the time it happens with in the family. I hope these things that I listed are an eye opener because many people don’t know what to look for or understand why there’s a change in there childs’ behavior and maybe you need to ask yourself if this could be happening to your child.

Be informed. You can check your area. Know who your children are around.

A teacher unloads her desire on the backs of underage children.

Any Lynn was a good teacher and was liked by most of the fatally and parents, but deep within here mind lay the desire to find out what it was like for the pedophile that lay-ed deep with in here soul.

She had been teaching in the Jr high for several years she just turned 29 years old and had never married or had kid of her own, She felt that she had to figure our what her options were and how do i fix this desire TharI have.So one day with out fanfare or music to guide she started her deviant plan to see how it felt.

The next door neighbor was mike, he was 14yrs old and had done various jobs for the street. Any ask if he could move some boxes in her house, into another room, he said yes and did the Job.AS mike finished the job she gave him lemonade aid and cookies. She sat with him on the couch and leaned over and pushed his face into her large pendulous breasts and hugged him for a while. Then they got up and mike went home. Two days later more boxes but the room was farther that the last and the curtains were pulled. This time she loosened her top and bent over to aloud here breasts to fall out , and then she rubbed his lips with her nipples, and placed her hand on her young friends long penis and began to hold it and work it side to side, till he blew his load. Mike was embarrassed at that part so Amy Lynn began to lick the fluid form his small member. When she saw him about a week later, it was time to spring the net and reel the fish in, so her plane was set and locked. She ask him to help here clean and care fro the plants, but as she and mike got to the bedroom, the trap snapped and mikes paint got wet with water, Amy took them off to dry, then booth of them lay ed on the bed, Amy disrobed and then took off mikes pants, and began to orally have her way with mike. She then placed mikes shaking hand ,between here wet legs and pleasured her self with his hand. And then she thought know one knows the difference.

Amy Lynn Exploited mike for years and when he learned the vaginal technique his grades went up Amy changed grade or two. But after two years marks family mover to Washington st. and Amy Lynn’s plans were broken. So with out further planing Amy picked another sophomore, named Josh. He was bigger than mike and probably had experience, but that had to be proved. So Josh was invited for extra heap with math. But after the math class came the bigger question, and extra points.Amy was right, josh could ring here bell and she began teaching him positions she had learned for late. Josh was only 14yrs old, and the rape charge could come at any time. Amy knew it but the sex was hot and she didn’t care.Mikes grades slipped and his parents wanted to help get them back up so a conference was called, to discuss the plan. Mike was polite but did not look right few times. but the parents were beginning to smell a rat, So they hired a privet eye to dig and and find out things. Then the answer came, Josh and Amy were in the Roadway motel, in bed having sex and the P.I. caught it on tape.

He found out that some eight other students were molested by the tacher of ten years, and Amy was pregnant four time and aborted four times. They fired the eacher, and placed here in Jail for two years, and she has to register as a sexual deviant. She can’t wok in or around children and can’t play in the park.

We should look at the people and surrounds that our children go in and find out about who lives here and why, Next time it will not be an easy fix?

An article that talks about healthcare insurance and how it is affecting the modern worker, and their families.

Believe me when I tell you that the health care business like any other insurance business is killing us. They are sucking us dry with insurance for this and insurance for that. They want their premiums on time but take their time when they have to pay the piper. They take health care right out of your salary and good old Obama care makes it illegal to opt out! That is right the government is telling you that you must have health insurance and that you must pay if the wonderful company you work for won’t. I am a teacher and have to be on my wife’s medical insurance because teachers don’t have benefits unless they have a union. They have to pay for insurance for medical, teeth, eyes, and even legal if offered. I went to a meeting to find out about my benefits as a teacher in South Carolina and was actually looking forward to picking a program. I had just moved from Florida where I had a good program that was paid for by the school system. I only had to pay if I wanted additional family coverage. I sat down at the benefits meeting and to my dismay realized that I was not there to pick a program or go over benefits, in fact I had no benefits and was sitting in a sales meeting at Dorchester 2 Schools headquarters being told how much I had to pay for my insurance, and that the school system offered nothing. I remember one of the other teachers that was with me at my table who just came from Georgia was so put out that she got up and saying nothing stormed out of the room. I realized then that South Carolina paid lower salaries and did not give any benefits other than some sick days, because they don’t have a union. Once again I saw how without union teachers and other workers alike are treated like slaves and are expected to be thankful they are being allowed to use their Masters and Doctors degrees to teach the children in the district. This is no different from what many companies are doing with health care all over the country. Maybe your company doesn’t have benefits either. If it doesn’t I will guarantee you that you don’t have a union. We discussed unions in a prior chapter, but this is one of the areas where companies get away with murder if there are not unions to deal with. Human nature comes into play and say what you will, but unions keep management from treating people like dogs. I know the government has a lot of us fooled and as I said before that is exactly what they want to do. They don’t want the people opening their eyes to the truth. The wealthiest in this country and other countries for that matter hate unions because they always have to make some concessions which make life better for the people. Health care and health insurance is an area of concern for the entire country and instead of the government making laws that would lower health care cost, companies are going to squeeze it out of their employees. There are some in this country who say that the best way to handle health care is to let the people get their own from a private source. Sounds like a good thing again. You can control your health care. That would work if you had the six or seven or thousand extra dollars a month to pay the private premiums. Do you actually think the health care companies are going to lower their prices so that you and I can afford them? By the way Obama Care wants you to get insurance by law, does not give you the money to buy it and tells you that the money you do have is to pay for others like yourself who don’t have the money to pay. Does that make sense to you? Ok, we see where we are going with this, and no, Obama care is not the answer either. If then there are no answers what can we do to fix this out of control area of our lives? One thing we can do is fight as a group against manage care and force the insurance companies to agree prior to treatment with the doctor and hospitals what the price is going to be. As it stands They leave the price between us folks and the medical professionals, and then when it comes time to pay the health insurance company almost always says that the price is too high and that they will only pay an amount which does not even come close to the amount or the percentage the policy says they will cover. Recently my health insurance company, Cigna Dental, pulled the same fast one on my wife and I. My daughter had to have dental work done. Our policy says clearly that they will pay up to a benefit of $2000 for this type of work. We started the work and began to pay the dentist $250 each visit. At the end we received a bill and the insurance company only paid around $700. We complained and told them that the policy said that they would pay the up to $2000 of the amount billed. They gave me the most ridiculous answer but it is one that I am telling the world because that is how bad this company is when it comes to paying claims. Cigna said that they talked to the Dentist before the work was started and made a deal with him to pay only $700. First, who the hell is the dentist to make a deal on my policy? Second, who the hell is the health care company to make a deal that is not at all based on the policy. When we approached the company they told us that the reason they agreed with the Dentist on the $700 was because my daughter may want to use some of the left over money in the future for more dental work. Let me ask you, how many times is a normal person going to get braces after 21 years of age? They owe me and I am not done with this yet. I us this as a personal example of how the health care companies keep your money, and make millions for themselves in doing so. We have to make it illegal for the companies to make any deals behind your back as the policy holder, and be upfront and honest when printing coverage’s on a policy. They need to pay what the policy says. If they approve a Doctor or a Dentist they need to pay what is charged, not choose to pay whatever figure catches their fancy the way Cigna does.

Another area that affects health care is hospital and doctors’ fees for services. This area is not a straight forward as it may seem. The health care agencies charge what they have to in order to make ends meet. A doctor today is paying close to $250,000 for his education. Most of them take out loans to do this. Again, the government allows medical schools to charge extraordinary prices to attend. We need thousands of Doctors in this country, but the government allows them to be charged a quarter million dollars so they can help us and give us high quality medical care. On top of this the government leaves the doctors uncovered and easy prey for lawyers and those who would exploit the goodness of a human who has given their lives in order to fight disease and save lives. The life they save may be the lawyers or the lawyers’ sons, daughters or wives. Doctors are sworn to heal and do no harm, they only charge what they do because they owe millions and are sued for millions. They also have to pay ridicules premium’s charged by; you guessed it, the insurance companies in order to be protected against mal practice lawsuits. People chose a doctor and if they choose a doctor and sign a hold harmless waiver before treatment or a procedure they should be held to their choice and not be able to take the doctor to court over a mistake. Of course if a doctor does something of a heinous nature he should be sued, but not for attempting to heal. No medical procedure is without risks. If this country took care of doctors by making laws to protect those who are willing to work as hard as they do to become doctors then the savings would be substantial. The legal profession along with the insurance companies are the enemies here, and the government don’t have the backbone to stand up to them. Only the people together can make a difference. If the government don’t change the mal practice laws and cut the insurance companies premium’s to a minimum we will have less and less student’s willing to become doctors. The government can come up with one hundred documents thousands of pages and tax dollars each and they will not be worth burning in your fire place. We are in crisis in this area and it is time the government stood up to the health care insurance companies and the legal profession despite all the money they donate, and do what it will take to lower health care prices and still maintain quality. Obama Care, no company benefits for health care, paying for private care with no money to do so, and good doctor’s being sued for caring about me and my family, all makes me mad as hell.

The article describes the importance of discipline and education in Australia.

Education was not the great equaliser as the authorities would have Australians believe. According to Grant Rodwell (2003) scientists and government authorities considered that they needed to breed out impurities to produce a superior nation of people. Children were placed into categories based on race, gender, class and socio-economic status. Rodwell (2003) suggests that these factors were used to justify the government’s education policies for a perfect society.

Segregation policies were adapted to prevent disabled and foreign children from contaminating the country. While these policies were misguided they were designed at a time when racism and general discrimination was common in Australia. The work contains key words such as eugenics, teacher selection, science, management and teacher training to help the reader understand what it is about.

Managers recognised the need for quality teachers as they considered that the right instruction would help them to achieve their objective. Teacher selection was based on discipline, personal achievement, past experience and child achievements. Rodwell (2003) suggests training colleges were created to give people the skills that they needed to teach children of all ages. Teachers were expected to instruct their young charges about the importance of grooming, deportment and manners to give them a well rounded education. In conclusion educators were expected to teach normal, strong, healthy, children while excluding anyone who did not fit that particular image.
