The debate rages on about underage girls needing parental consent to seek an abortion.

Since 2000, the rate of teenage girls getting pregnant has risen to an almost disturbing level. Not only are more teenage girls getting pregnant, but they are also getting pregnant at younger ages. The youngest that I know of, that is continuing with her pregnancy, is twelve years old. She won’t be thirteen when her baby will be born either, an unfortunate circumstance if I’ve ever seen one. But with the teenagers getting pregnant in every city of America, the question has been raised if these teenagers need to get consent from their parents in order to get the abortion if they so desire it.

Due to religious views or moral views, a lot of parents probably wouldn’t let their daughter receive an abortion no matter what. That would lead to a lot of strain on the families and the teenagers. The likelihood of the teenager finishing high school would become very slim. Two teenagers I know dropped out of high school in order to take care of their babies, despite the fact that their parents said that they would help them out.

Their futures are pretty much screwed, and they know it. Without a high school degree, it’s tough getting into a good college especially one that could lead you to those goals that you had when you were younger. For a teenager to give up a kid, it can be tough on the teenager and sometimes the parents will even refuse to have the children go up for adoption.

Should parents have the right to give the consent an underage girl needs to have an abortion? It could be dangerous to many young girls, girls that had a bright future ahead of them. But it’s also a medical procedure, and for all other procedures you do need parental consent for them. Now, I’m just one random teenager in the United States, but I do have to say this; let teenagers take responsibility by choosing what they are going to do with their life, don’t let their parents force them into any certain world or choice. Like all women, it’s their choice and their life, let them pick what they will do with it.

Increase in teenage eating disorders.

In the past few years there have been an increase in the amount of teenagers being diagnosed with eating disorders. I believe that this issue stems from celebrities in fashion and teen magazines.

Many fashion magazines show pictures of our favorite celebrities looking thin and in perfect shape. What many young girls don’t understand is these pictures are airbrushed and that these celebrities do not actually look like that.

Because of young girls seeing celebrities that they love looking perfect and beautiful they strive to look like them and lead themselves to a life time of problems. When the girls see beautiful celebrities look perfect they begin to feel very insecure about their own bodies and begin life threatening diets that cause them to become ill trying to look like them.

In the last few years with the increase in access to website this has made it easier to find celebrities diets but there is no way to be sure that it is the true diet that celebrity uses and this can lead to very harmful diets that can have permanent affects on the persons health. Not only can this lead to physical health complications but also psychological problems like depression and anxiety.

If magazines companies would stop producing airbrushed photos in there books and on there websites young girls everywhere would see that the celebrities that they love so much don’t always look perfect this would increase girls self confidence and help reduce eating disorders.

A teen from England has been found leading a double life — posing as three different boys in order to have sexual encounters with other girls that she was attracted to.

An English teen has been found out leading a double life — posing as three different boys in order to have sexual encounters with other girls she was attracted to.

Gemma Barker, 19, had relationships with two girls aged 15 and 16 who both thought she was a male, despite going to the same school as her, Guildford Crown Court heard yesterday.

During their encounters Barker spoke like a boy and wore men’s clothing — including baggy tops, hats and hoodies — to cover up her feminine side.

She created three different alter egos (as in names/identity) — Aaron Lampard, Connor McCormack and Luke Jones — and had separate Facebook profiles for each of them.

The Middlesex resident now faces jail time after admitting to two counts of sexual assault and one count of fraud.

The victims both believed Barker’s assumed identities, although the sexual activity never went beyond kissing, hugging and fondling.

They eventually became suspicious they were dating the same boy but never thought their ‘boyfriends’ were actually a teenage girl.

When one of the girls took off ‘Connor’s’ hat as the disguised teen slept, she thought it was her friend’s supposed ‘boyfriend’ Aaron.

Barker then deliberately fractured her jaw and tried to blame her alter-ego ‘Luke Jones’ for the attack and for forcing her to pose as ‘Aaron’, the court heard.

The 2 girls then thought something was not right and straight away they contacted police.

Barker was arrested as ‘Aaron’ in June last year and police found out the truth after conducting a search.

Judge Peter Moss said Barker’s case involved “fairly lengthy and convoluted deception”.

He said Barker’s behaviour had a “mean, manipulative streak to it”.

She will be sentenced in March

An essay about our country's adolescent generations.

The adolescent generation plays quite a major role in America’s future. This role is based on the jobs we will take on. The future relies on us, because we are to become the future leaders of the country, and we are to control the political, economical, and societal aspects. When our generation comes of age, we will have to fill in leadership positions, and take care of America. The “tomorrow” of the United States will be dictated by the teenagers of today.

Perhaps the most important aspect of growing up is the major political responsibility that will come with it. In order to control the people and keep them happy, the politicians need to run a strong system of government that will protect and help the people, and keep the country strong. Positions such as president, vice president, senators, and etc. will have to be filled, in order to keep the country in working order. All of these leadership roles must be assumed by us eventually, and we must be attentive and hard-working in order to keep the big machine that is our country working properly. The upcoming political conflicts will be ours to take care of, and new laws will be ours to pass, in order to keep America functioning.

Furthermore, although seemingly distant, our age band will eventually assume control of the economy. We will be the consumers, and we will become the working class. We will be the leaders of our economical standpoint in the world. The stock market, for example, will be in our hands. Prosperity will be expected, and depressions will be the duty that we must attend to. It will be up to us to keep the economy going. We will have to provide for ourselves and our families, as well as pay taxes. The economy is a fundamental part of the well-being of America, and our hard work and consummation of products will act like the fuel needed for a car to run. We will be the gasoline for the automobile that is our nation.

Moreover, society and all of its clauses will be passed onto us. This includes literature, media, music, and all of the arts. The creation of books, plays, etc. will be the responsibility of my generation. It is also our duty to care for the environment with global warming and pollution posing as two great threats that are seemingly progressing at an alarming rate. So far, the generations before us have helped to reduce fuel emissions by aiding in the creation of electric cars. Keeping with the “green theme,” we focused our attention on recycling, and therefore initiated special programs in schools nation-wide. Once we attain the level of power that is now in the hands of our elders, it will be up to us to keep ideas like these to be developed.

Without our generation, the structure of our magnificent land will crumble. Without us, the government, and our support of the economy, and our population and ambiance would suffer, and eventually be no more. Our country would become a jellyfish; a spineless, brainless creature just floating around. The future of our country rests on the shoulders of our generation, and we are irreplaceable.

If you think that little ones only have fun with Developing Prevents then you are having a incorrect understanding. Well experienced and performed by teenagers, as they really like to develop structures and other items by linking obstructions together. This is where discovering stage requires a cost towards a different aspect. Three perspective results is existing to add the elegant look of awe by children and with Developing Prevents around the aspect one can absolutely have a lot of fun. Moving past from one technology to anotherBusiness Control Content, its everyday living as a normal toy never ends away.

Children as young as five have their own mobiles and access to the internet. How far are parents going to appease their children?

My little sister is the prime example of a spoilt brat. She’s a competitive disco dancer at “Champ” level. She’s 17 and since age 12 has been fake tanning and waxing. She throws a tantrum if she doesn’t get what she wants. She throws a tantrum if my parents stand up to her. But why has she turned out like this? Is it the competitive nature of her hobby? The people she’s friendly with? Or is it a bigger problem?

I’ve heard stories of how children as young as five have blackberries, ipods and laptops. When I was five I had barbies and other dolls. I’ve also heard disturbing tales of how these same 5 year olds are worrying about their weight. At five. Seriously?! All I can say is What The F***?! When I was five I probably didn’t even know what weight meant let alone what calories are.
Are the shows these children exposed to, to blame? My sister watches shows like “America’s Next Top Model” and often comments on how fat the girls are. I look at the girls and think EAT MORE. I’m quite comfy in my body as a UK size 10-14. But Having a stick as a sister does bring you down when she’s calling you “fat” or “obese”. Is it down to such shows that the weight side of things occur?

My sister, just seconds ago stated that she WAS getting “a new pair of uggs, a new laptop, Abercrombie and Fitch clothing, an Iphone, a sofa, fridge and a double bed”. . . .My parents aren’t rich enough to be able to afford most of what she’s asked for so I know she has no chance, but she honestly thinks that because she’s said she wants it, she’ll get it.
She’s 17. Whats worrying to me is that 5-12 year olds are the exact same! Is it because of the older girls they look up to, like my sister? Or are there more factors?

Someone please knock these kids back down to earth and make them realise that fashion labels aren’t everything and they can’t always get what they want. Most of all make them mature enough to grow up in a respectably manner and not act spoilt.

Gunman kills five during rampage in heart of city.

The cobblestone streets of Liège were turned into a bloody battlefield yesterday as a convicted criminal with a penchant for guns opened fire on Christmas shoppers, killing five people and wounding more than 70. The gunman also died in the attack.

Shoppers dived for cover shortly after noon as a series of explosions and gunfire erupted across the Belgian city’s main square, Place Saint Lambert. Witnesses described seeing a man hurling grenades from the roof of a bakery overlooking the square at bystanders waiting for a bus. He then followed up with repeated bursts from an automatic rifle.

Police named the attacker as Nordine Amrani, a 33-year-old convicted drug dealer with a passion for collecting illegal weapons.

His victims included two teenagers who had just finished an exam, a 20-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman according to the city’s public prosecutor. Last night surgeons lost the battle to save a two-year-old girl who died of her injuries. A further four patients were in a critical condition.

One of the dead teenagers was named as Pierre Gerouville. Tributes poured in to a Facebook page set up to honour the 17-year-old. “I can’t find the words,” wrote one of his friends. “You left too soon, we’ll never forget you.”

Amrani died in the attack but police say he was not brought down by their fire. “It’s uncertain yet whether he killed himself or whether his weapons exploded,” said public prosecutor Danielle Reynders. Immediately after the assault confusion reigned as shoppers ran for cover and desperately tried to work out whether there were multiple gunmen. Place Saint Lambert is a busy thoroughfare and close to a popular Christmas market. “We heard two huge deafening noises and then lots of explosions, people were running everywhere,” a baker named only as Patricia said on RTL-TV. “We closed the door, turned off the lights and hid behind the counter with the customers.”

Officials have dismissed any link to international terrorism.

A young persons view on teenage stereotypes.

Lets face it. Nobody likes to be labelled, but we all label others. Whether it’s based on their Nationality, Country, how they dress or what music they listen to, we have labels for everything.

I remember at primary school we looked at Stereotypes, we had to draw stereotypical people from Scotland, France and Australia. Surprisingly I didn’t really know what to draw, I just copied the girl next to me. So here’s what I ended up drawing:

French – A man in black trousers with a blue and white stripey t-shirt wearing a beret. He was holding a baguette and a croissant.

Australian – A man in khaki shorts and a matching shirt with a cork hat. He was standing beside a crocodile and a barbecue.

Scottish – A man in a kilt with ginger hair holding a can of Irn Bru with Nessie the Loch Ness monster in the background.

Funny how they were all men eh? Nearly everyone else in my class has the same idea. But stereotypes don’t stop with different countries do they? There are stereotypes for different fashion trends too:

Emo – dark clothing, usually black. Dark make up. Black skinny jeans, usually black hair with a side fringe. Listens to “alternative” music

Goth – More or less similar fashion sense but with flared jeans rather than skinny. Hair styles vary. Listen to rock and heavy metal.

Mosher – Baggy clothing, long -ish hair. Skateboarders (In my town anyway). Listen to mostly rock music.

Scene Kids – Practically Emos but instead of black they have multicolours. Listen to “alternative music”

NEDs (Non educated delinquents) – They tend to wear tracksuits and walk with a swagger. The tracksuits usually are designer which mystifies everybody cause NEDs tend to be unemployed and cause trouble. They usually have short/shaved hair (boys) or long sleek straight hair (girls).

Casual – They tend to have clothes from Top Shop, River Island, Jane Norman. Clothes which is not usually classified as NED but is definitely not Emo or goth etc. They usually listen to RnB and Pop music.

I hate labels, I really do. But when talking about other people I tend to label them. Hypocrite much? But I don’t mean to label them in a bad way. I label them as a description, so when talking to people they can visualise the kind of person i’m talking about. I don’t know what I would be labeled as myself because my style changes daily; depending on my mood. Most of the time I guess I fall into the Emo-Scene Kid range but mixed with Casual a lot. A lot of my friends a Casual but a fair few are Emo. I’m friends with goths and scene-kids and moshers. Though I do stay clear of NEDs, purely because I know a few who beat people up and wouldn’t like to get on the wrong side of them.

What are your views on Stereotypes? Are they discrimitive or are they descriptive in this day and age?

What do you buy for a young person these days?

Its December now, and the time to start the rush to do your Christmas shopping. But the trouble these days is that teenagers have everything they want! So what do you buy them?

As a child i was asked to write a letter to Santa so he knew what i wanted. As I’ve gotten older my Santa letter has gotten shorter and shorter with more of the little stocking fillers and less of the big special presents. I find myself wanting DVD box-sets, video games, make up or clothes. Things I can buy myself throughout the year, rather than a big special present such as a laptop or phone. I mean yeah i would like an Iphone but I’m more than happy with my blackberry so why do i need both? I already have a good laptop which works perfectly so i don’t need a new one. I’m of an age where I don’t want “big” presents anymore, but would rather have lots of little, useful things.

I’m of an age were I know that asking for a horse or a new car for Christmas is not realistic. Instead asking for money towards said new car and some little accessories will ensure i get what i want. Then I’m not disappointed Christmas morning.

My Christmas wish list this year consists of 3 new DVDs from Studio Ghibli, 2 DVD box-sets and some clothes. When my friends asked what i want I always reply with “I don’t know”. I mean after asking for all i want, what can i say? So I’ve just told them to give me chocolates or sweets (I still have a sweet tooth and love pigging out on Christmas day).

Of course every teenager is different. My little sister for insistence is a competitive dancer so her wish list consists of new costume and a ton of make up. My friends who are sporty are asking for new football boots or running shoes. I know if i was still horse riding I’d be asking for new jodhpurs or something for my tack box. My friends who are into video games are asking for the latest COD game or a new console. And my best friend is asking for money, make up and shoes.

So ask yourself, what kind of person is it that I’m buying for?

Sexual bullying or cyber bullying this can lead to suicide.

There has been many tragedies leading to teenage suicide, bullycide, the bullying that leads to teenage suicide

Often you would ask how did this happen, but you forget the grief that is followed by bullycide

You must witness grief, the change of schools to make for ones happiness and still this harms a child’s life. Children stray into darkness from this kind of lives.

Skin and bones do heal quicker than emotional wounds.

In school bullying you are left with cries for help, sometimes even worse, all the unanswered and unhelped casts grief at a larger shadow from all the bullying.

It is harsh for teenagers, the deaths left with questions and no answers, this divides schools and communities, apart from grieving or the person who had died, there are also, other losses to mourn

Think about it, the parents don’t only lose a child, they also have to deal with the added horror of responsibility, for not seeing the suicide coming.

Bullies are labeled bad when a teen commits suicide.

Lives for parents are forever changed

Children at school grieve to a certain level, on what they did or didn’t do or they could have helped and didn’t help, and to also deal with the loss of innocence.

When it comes to bullycide, grief is hard to accept, complication erupts when it comes to teens committing suicide you don’t know who is to blame for this, it makes the grieving intense, and for a longer period.

The pain and loss is what you are left with after teen suicide, the wonder of what happened, and the loss becomes even more crushing.

During this time you want answers, and reason for such tragedies. You left to wonder how it happened.

Though most parents in these cases did have a relationship with their teenagers, but still can’t put a finger on what caused the suicide.

In all that time of a good parent and child relationship but still the child didn’t ask for help.

The bullying could have made them embarrassed, and nothing was done to stop it, or the individual felt lonely.

The grief of losing the victim is easily extended to those who bullied them, and the bullies feel haunted by their actions. It is sad, because the bullies are left to face up to their own grief and loss, which they helped create unknowingly.

The bully will always know they caused this problem by hurting the other person, a guilt that goes on in their lives, and so will the parents of the bullying child, if they had tried to stop their children from bullying all this wouldn’t have gone so far.

The stages of grief may has new lessons to teach you in the aftermath of bullycide.

Denial

You don’t think of this happening at your school, in your family, or to your child. You must talk to your child and to your school authorities

Anger

How can children treat each other in this way?

How is that teachers don’t know about the bullying?

Boys and girls are bullied, your child must know of this information.

Bargaining

If you had known of this sooner could you have stopped it?

Why didn’t your child get out of this?

You shouldn’t leave any stone unturned

Demand answers

Depression

Answers can’t bring back your teen that was bullied to death

Don’t let teen bullying get bad, it has to be taken care of from day one

Acceptance

Acknowledge the loss, in time you will gain strength to forgive

When in loss you can’t forgive, in time the love and memories become stronger than the pain.

Often teachers feel if they had approached things differently they could have helped the situation
